Fryx: Those Oyo Mesi’s, especially Bashorun were the one that cause the decline of the empire due to their selfishness and greed. They are following the steps of their fathers. Yes, many people here don't know anything about the background issues. From a close and very knowledgable friend and Oyo blood, Makinde can not be intimidated one bit. The progressives and elites of Oyo are excited and happy with the choice. |

The decision of the governor is final. Many people making comments against Makinde on this issue know nothing about the intrigues. Dispute is normal in this situation. Historically, there was a protracted legal dispute when Alaafin Adeyemi III was announced in the 60s. Long live the new Alaafin. papagiddy: Court case will be plenty for dis issue Will oyo state government now change what has been said?? I believe the governor heard from the right kingmaker before coming out publicly...makinde has to use his full power against those opposing this announcement ...Makinde silenced those who opposed d installation of SOUN OF OGBOMOSO.. Alafin s case is d next!.. |

Berrylite: Money divided the king makers. The king makers that endorsed Mr Owoade threw Ifa to the mud and opted for money, while those opposed to his kingship stood with whom Ifa chose. If na good old days, Mr Owoade dare not attempt to wear the alaafin crown if he still love his life. Gbadegesin is actually the one using money to influence the process and that's a known fact. His desperation is no news. Ask those truly in the know. |

True but comparing their academic and professional background indicates a sharp contrast. Location is not a huge consideration. The Alaafin looks like a good choice. zebszebs: Another Canada-based electee to a traditional stool?
I hope he wont turn out to be like that culturally-confused, former Yahoo boy and Igbo-smoking Canada returnee who now claims to be the Sultan abi Emir of Iwo kingdom.

I can't believe he forgot all those dark years so soon. Well, Sowore is allowed to goof occasionally, at least he showed up consistently to be counted. You can't always get it right but you can always count on Sowore to always stand for what he believes is right. The one from Agulu claiming saint today and fooling the younger ones is way older than Sowore but was nowhere to be found at any point during the struggles through military dictatorship. Capital for almost half a century yet Ibadan had a university before Lagos got UNILAG, Ibadan had a Television station before Lagos, Ibadan had a standard sports complex before Lagos, Ibadan had a skyscraper (26-floor) before Lagos, Nigeria’s first motorable road linked the city of Ibadan and Oyo town spearheaded by Lord Lugard (1906). You can go on and on. The development of Lagos was not all rosy, it came with huge challenges and was driven by dogged visionaries. Lagos had lots of economic activities and government presence but not much was done until the 1970s and practically everything stopped in terms real development when Babangida escaped to Abuja in 1991. There are states collecting way more allocation than Lagos State and with nothing to show. Other states need to step up. Their governors are looking and living like emperors while the governor of an already buoyant Lagos is always running around working in the interest of his state. There is no excuse! DeepSight: Comparing Lagos to other states is not quite right. Its not apples for apples. I cant remember how many other states had the privilege of being our Federal Capital for almost a century. I dont know how many other states are the economic capital of Nigeria. Its really not a fair comparison. Lagos is special and will always be special and in a league of its own. |

He can do both at the same time. They are not mutually exclusive: - Handle the guy that doesn't respect boundaries, and obviously lack discipline and focus. - Talk to his daughter, and keep talking to his daughter. Both are doable simultaneously. brainhgeek: How old is the girl? In my opinion, the man shouldn't have reacted like that. Would he have preferred to hear that one faceless guy has been camping his daughter? I'd rather talk to my daughter. Let me know your friends so I can guide you right.
