AirmanB: Dere was a video dat Ugo4u dropped in dis thread some weeks ago. D video was about d current 46 in their obstacle crossing training. I saw some cadets with "tripple V" on their chest.
I think d one u r talking is about is d RCs, d already have something either on their chest or shoulders dat represent d year that dey have spent in d academy. But SSC got nothing but plain colored "rank holder", representing different companies. no bro.. some events and camps, some cadets will be expected to wear their ranks on a blue patch.. even SSC cadets will wear major, captain, lieutenant, master, Sargent, corporal and lance etc..they only wear these blue ranks during competitions, camps, etc... but when they are in the academy normally, only appointment holders will wear cadet ranks.. the rest will wear plain rank patches with the words NDA on top And SSC under it on their chest. |

Oga you have time...me I won’t disturb the army officers I have with questions like this..cos they expect that by now I should know who an officer is.. It is advisable to respect the senior NCOs and dem no born their papa well to not respect you back cos it’s reciprocal.. take advice from them, learn from them.. obey them if you must because they have a wealth of knowledge to share, but you see that compliment, dem no born him papa well.. he will never walk past you without paying it so don’t even assume a situation where he doesn’t... This is the last time I will comment on this issue.. The most important thing for us now is to get in.. God will help all of us applying this year.. I cant wait to call some of you coursemate. |

NewDelhi: Many years back I've always wanted to give the army a try. My plan was to just serve a few years, resign, discharge or whatever then go back to my normal life. I just wanted to have the experience and feel the uniform. It wasn't because of unemployment or anything coz I had a great job as at then. I just wanted to serve this country and have the experience. I wanted to have a tastes of the stories told by older soldiers in mami market. . But as I saw some of their trainings a then SSC friend sent to me man I lost morale. Can't watch my fellow human toture me in the name of training. Some were even tortured to death. And me I be person wey dey quick vex mehn if any of your coporal Friday or seargent Ibrahim or cadet Adebayo or even your general Sirham whip me koboko my head fit spark o sotey I no go even know when I go slap am. Shits like that usually give me a sudden burst of rage. The guy told me of how a termal 4 cadet entered one night and started whipping grown ass men, non of them could do anything, everybody just dey scratch body dey shout. Sometimes they were asked to sit on their heads in the cold night for almost 3 hours anybody wey drop go collect beating like cultist wey mistakenly enter the territory of his rivals. Some broke their ribs, some broke bones and couldn't continue, some died .. Has it gotten to that level?
To those of una wey dey do this thing , much respect. Una try. we will go and nothing will happen to us.. |

NihiIist: Wait good evening guys , please I just need some clarification. Those soldiers that carry V and double V did they join as SSC or RRI?
Also what rank do you start with as SSC?
Is joining via RRI a bad choice.
Is there really a difference between SSC and NDA guys (RC)
Lastly I have an uncle who is a staff sergeant but educated. He has a degree before he joined. The man is in his late 50s now but still a staff sergeant despite his degree. What could have gone wrong?
Thanks for your responses . God bless. 1..those soldiers that carry one v and 2 are lance corporals and corporals.. they entered via the regular recruit intake(RRI) 2... when you commission as an SSC officer you are commissioned into the rank of a 2nd lieutenant (1 star) 3...there are a lot of differences between RCs and SSC officers.. read thread from beginning to understand 4...your uncle applied via RRI and not short service.. he joined as a recruit so his results won’t be tenderable anymore in service.. because any result not rendered as at the time of enlistment is useless going forward.. so if he by any chance wants to become an officer, he has to go to school again. |

Lami1996: Baba na lie u dey lie,I did my nysc in 3 division Nigerian army Jos and I just passed out in July. Throughout my one year,I was rolling with 2ndLts and Lts mostly cos there are very free with corpers. I have never seen a MWO pass by a 2ndLt and dare not give him a compliment and as a matter of fact I've witnessed a 2ndLt lock a staff sergent and a sergent in the WO/Sergents Mess,a WO will simply respect himself and pay the 2ndLt his compliment so that he can be respected by the 2ndLt too. Don't say what you don't know and be lying to us here. No wonder military people call civilians "clowns" lol Honorable minister.. you know the rest |

Shinfaks: Relationship bw MWO & commissioned officers should not be a complex one please.
I don't know of the army, but I had an encounter with NMWO in the navy, they are very nice people that any officer with the required wisdom and leadership quality should peacefully work with.
He do come atimes to see us, No job, no kperuffing, just words of encouragement and fatherly advice.
Though, a times he will look at us and say: some of you are waiting to be commissioned and come and give me orders ba! Bura uba! *laugh* you will die, am waiting for you.
Note; they have direct access to there respective service chiefs. so because they have access to service chief, officers can’t issue them commands? Oh my God!! I’m fed up of Nairaland |

A number of SSC cadets were withdrawn last month.. just got off a call with one of my girls.. Even as some of them were withdrawn, arrangement were still made for some of them to be integrated into the army as NCO’s with a certain senior rank.. this isn’t even supposed to be cos the cadets withdrawn from nda as regulars didn’t get a second thought towards then..I don’t want to give specifics But those withdrawn were caught for malpractice, some injuries, etc

AirmanB: He won't collect any slap! He deserves his respect. The only problem dat he might have is a general dislike amongst subordinates, but let me shock u. U r thinking with a civilian mindset, in d military, u don't act dat way! But it's very good to respect d grey hair (MWO) no be small rank, dis men are old enough to be your father. But dat doesn't mean dat u will be slapped for demanding complements!!!! Abaaaa guy!!!
How MWO go take slap 2nd Lt? MWOs are 2 ranks below 2nd Lt ( ... MWO, AMW then 2nd Lt) guy I was being sarcastic with my reply.. I’ve never seen it happen in command, neither in nda! Warrant officers pay newly passed out cadets their full compliments in the academy and in jaji.. me I don’t know where the slap came from but I won’t say anything |

Infact a lieutenant wey dey find salute from a warrant officer go collect slap join. My own is just as much as you have hot takes about how to run the army and be the most humble officer ever! Put the same effort to getting shortlisted.. Won’t make sense if you are the one that knows how officers should be saluting nco and you bounce on exam list..
Discussions here are pure discussions as we all know that once everyone gets in, orientation will change.. Do what you must... if you will drink urine to make final list, do it. As long as you make the list. |
