HE SNEEZED, NUASEA LICKING INSIDE OF HIM... He quickly threw himself on the chair and took comfort in the brandy he was holding...

"What are you doing man? Peter ask the moment he came out from the kitchen.....

Francis yawn...his head begin to spin from intoxication of the alcohol he'd been taking.... But he was still sober.. His senses still intact and fully aware of what he was doing.. It will take more a bottle of brandy to get him drunk or probably senseless......
"She doesn't like me anymore.... "he said... Crackled in his voice

Peter emitted then he collected the bottle from him.... "Forget her Francis... Many fish full river, go catch one with net and com show me whre you lock your soup put.. "

Francis scoffs at Peter's statement "I love her P, i love that girl"

HER WORDS SENT COLD CHILLS DOWN LEVI'S SPINE..., he couldn't believe it, are they really going to die here....

"We need to get out of this place.... "Pandora said with trembling mouth.

Francis quickly pick the dagger,with one of the firelamp in his hand he led the way.....

With throbbing heart they walk close to each other, each looking back at the sound of anything they step their foot on...

"Leticia said, we will find our way out at the end of the tunnel"Katherine said holding the firelight tightly...

They increase their pace looking back to make sure everyone was in line

"Why is the tunnel so long? Levi ask faintly.. Fear overwhelming him....

No one replied him, they just continue moving forward...

"Ouch... "Pandora sneer when she hit her foot against a stone....

Everyone turn their attention to her.....
"Are you okay..? Levi quickly ask

She nodded.

With a sigh of relief, they made her move forward.. Closer to Francis and Katherine took her place as the third person....

They continue moving forward bursting through cobwebs that seem to be the dorminant thing in the tunnel.....

The rest followed.... Joy overcloud them..

They look around... The whole place was bush....

Fear grip Levi when he thought of the dangerous things that could be in the bush... Snakes....

Gnashing down the long grasses, they pave their way forward to the open space....

With trembling mouth Pandora muttered.... "Oh no.... "

Heart racing rapidly, they stare at the pile of bones, skulls on the open space... Some heads hung on a pike.....

"Is this a burial ground?Levi ask

"This doesn't look like a burial ground... "Katherine replied.... Trepidation in her voice.... "This bodies are thrown here to decay...

Pandora sniff as she catch a breathe of the odour of the place....
Flies feast still feasting on the bodies.....

"Do you think that body we saw inside was one of this people? Levi ask curiously....

Katherine sniff. Fight hard to hold her breathe from inhaling the bad scent protruding from the corspes... "I think the person we found inside that place must have escaped..... "

"But he still died, his bones were scattered..... "Pandora blared out....

"There is only two explanation... Whoever or whatever did this to these people went in with him or something else was in that tunnel... Whichever i don't think we want to find out... "said Francis

"We have to keep going..... "He added...
He led the way passing another corner the bones didn't extend to...

King Dafuda and his two sons sat at another end a few pace from the fire... They watch as Danasiri chant words.....
No-one knew what she was saying.. It was believed that when a priestess of ogini say words nobody understands, it shows she is conversing with ogini.....

Vuga swallowed hard, the smoke of the fire reddened his eyes.. He was tired, exhausted... But there is no way he could tell his father nor his brother what he was feeling...

His eyes wandered around... On a far end of the fire stood the ministers, each with a line drew with blood on their forehead....

He look at the crowd, each of them expecting something in return after the worship....
He insutilate.... His stomach rumbling and ranting...
The thought of Katherine creep into his head... He wonder how she was doing... His father was yet to make a decision and it surprises him... Before now he'd always thought, Katherine was his favorite but it was obvious the goldmine was more important to him than any of his children....

He made a faint smile that disappeared within seconds when he thought of Francis.... He wasn't even sure if Francis really went to rescue his sister...
He stare at his father... Hands jammed together... Offering silent prayers to ogini probably to rescue his sister from Jafar....

He fixated his gaze again on Danasiri..... His eyes drool on the little girls who started dancing around the images representing ogini....
The three girls tied animal skin cloth round their waist... Their hairs tangled together......

Vuga wonder what the dancing was all about.....
He bug his eyes when the drums begin to sound... First it was slow.. Then the drummers began to beat fast.....
The atmosphere was intense.... The smoke blackened the cloud.... Then the crowd began to shout ogini.....
They shouted at the top of their voice as the drumbeat increases......

A bit scared he watch as five hefty men dragged out a mighty bull.... Surprised on why the bull didn't react... He continued watching to see what happens.....
He bug his eyes as Danasiri took out a sword and crouched beside the bull....

The bull been obedient didn't do anything and it really surprised him..., then he realise Danasiri was the priestess... With her anything is possible.....

He watch with curiosity as Danasiri slit the throat of the bull.... The men hold a big bowl underneath so the blood gushing out from the bull can pour into the bowl..
As the drumbeats increase... The crowd wailing and cheering increase.... some people in the crowd ran out and started dancing.......
The bowl was handed to Danasiri who raised it up.... Just then the bull crunched to the ground sending dust around...

"Gary.... "

His father's voice interrupted him.... Both him and Gary quickly turn to face their father whose hands were still jammed...

"Father.... "Gary muttered...

For a moment they just sat waiting for their father to speak up....

"Take a guard.... "King Dafuda begin.... "Tell him to send a message to Jafar... Tell him am ready.... "He pause... Took a deep breathe... "Tell him am ready to give him what he wants... The goldmine in exchange for my daughter "

Shock swept through Vuga... A part of him was happy while the other part wondered what changed his father's mind...

"Yes Father.... "Gary replied... Muttered a silent prayer then stood up and left them...

Vuga watch as his father lour his head, just then he realise it was a hard decision to make... The goldmine has been thier source of income for years... The goldmine was the reason why other villages envy them breaching down to the lord in the capital... And that's why King Jafar wanted it.....

With only a white clothe tied to their waist. And a red scarf... Shirtless. King Dafuda and his two sons carried a calabash filled with blood of animals... Each carrying his own calabash and walking slowly taking one step at a time.....

The centre of the field was made as an altar, it was laced with scary images representating Ogini each stained with blood... At the middle of it were pile of woods tinge with a fierce blazing fire...plumes of black grey smoke, wound itself around the post like a great hungry serpent, devoured everything in it's path, choking clouds of noxious smoke, inferno, blazing, out of control, ash floating to the ground like great dirty flakes of snow, showering onto everything, sprinkling onto the ground....thick gray smoke billowing into the skies. The once pale blue sky was now shielded by a veil of darkness as the smoke swallows up the whole sky.......

With the blood in the calabash in their hands. They walk slowly making their way to the altar....
Vuga could the feel fierce ignition of the fire pricking his skin, the thought of his sister ran into his head, today was the last day King Jafar has giving his father.. His inner mind tells him he shouldn't be doing this.... He wasn't even concentrating, with his sister so far away...
He shook with fear when he saw Danasiri eyes... She was different today... She was scary... Devilish.... Before now no body could look into her eyes but today was a pass day.. It was the blood festival.....

His hands shook, almost at the verge of falling the calabash from the hands... He took a deep breathe and maintain his balance........

It was believed that on this day Ogini will descend from wherever she is and come to the aid of her servants... He has heard stories about the last blood festival, some people claimed they saw ogini why others say ogini never came....

His eyes rolled to the crowd... It was compulsery that everyone must be out here in the field and worship ogini.. The sick... The crippled... The deaf.. The blind will gather on this day to receive their healing when ogini shall descend.... All knees were down, the smoke from the fire hovering above their heads...

Katherine watch from the window as fire exploded into the blackness, the flame rolling outwards like the smoke of a mushroom cloud....with tears in her eyes she crouched down to the ground wailing and wishing she was home. Was with her family...

She just sat down dominated by a profound sadness, fatigue engraved on her worn face,she clenched her shivering fingers together, The sorrow grew more profound each time she spent in the quiet, lonely room, the solemn walls reviving the memory of the people she was missing, No longer could she see that inquisitiveness, that desire, that fire in her eyes. All that remained was the deceiving hollow soul that reflected in her tear-stained glasssy eyes, the marks leaving no room to see her true self anymore.....

They are stuck in the prison together condemned to death... He knit his brows when she smiled at him.. Wondering why she was smiling... He watched as she stood up..... Walking to towards the lock of the bars... "What are you doing? He was forced to ask...

She look around.. Whole place was quiet... The only noise that was heard was the sound of the drums outside and the cheering and shouting of the crowd..... Without hesitation, she brought out a carved tiny wood from her hair...the sharp edge of it almost like a needle.....

"What are you doing....? Levi ask again arousing Francis attention....

"What.. ?,Do you think am going to wait till nightfalls before i get out of here.. We will be probably be used for sacrifice when night comes.. Now it's the perfect opportunity... There are no guards.. ...."She said and prick the sharp key carved end of the tiny wood into the lock... She turned it... Gave it a second try and the gate flung open.

"How did you do that...? Levi ask

She gave him a wry smile... "If you want to be a thief, at least be a smart one.. So are you two coming or not.... ?

Both boys didn't waste anytime before following her

He has already check out the jeep, the keys were inside and it was equipped with GPS, radio, first aid kit blankets for night games.... Also a spare tire...

He went further carefully not to wake anyone.. He saw a pair of hiking boots.. They look as if they might fit Qetsiyah...
Quickly he edged round the front of the shed, unhooked the padlock and push it open...
He moved fast filling a plastic cooler with food.... And stuffs that will last...
He carried the chest into the backseat of the jeep, the vehicle had three rows of pew style seats... The last one slightly higher than the others... It was far bigger than they needed but it could help alot... A good replacement for his cessna he was still bitter about...

He quickly climb into the drivers seat.. Geared into neutral.. Release the brakes. Got out and push...
It took three hefty attempts before the wheels release from the mud....
When the vehicle gathered speed. He jump into the drivers seat...
He drove fast... As soon as he felt he was far enough from the camp.. He reach for his whiskey.. Almost emptying it.. Good thing is.. He has a refill now...
Within minutes he could make out the dark of the cliff in the distance.. Then the baobab grove at the foot of the rocks... As the jeep drew closer... He swunged his headlights over towards the trees.. He saw a strange pile in the mud at the base..
It took a split second to realise what he was seeing....
"Persia.. Leopard"

His heart exploded into his throat as he slammed on the brakes.. Leaving the headlights shinning on the terrible sight.. He quickly jumped out of the jeep and raced through the mud toward the pile of animal and human tangled in the water.....

Mbogo shoved a wiry old man dressed in khaki bush gear toward Amal.... "He is the best tracker the lodge has.. The other staff said so"
Amal look at the man, his hair was frosted with white and his face was wizened and craggy... Slowly he walk around the man who lowered his head and stare at the floor......
Amal was using the lodge curio shop cum office as a temporary command centre.. The room was filled with racks of postcards.. Shirts. Hats.. Wood carvings and batik fabrics... Against one white washed wall stood a locked cabinet containing silver and copper jewelry.. On another wall hung photos of lions, elephants,rhinos,buffalo drinking from a water hole... Another shot show a leopard draped over a branch in front of a sinking sun.. The big five.. The most dangerous animals in Africa to hunt on foot....

But it was the hunt of human that excited Amal.. He had Qetsiyah Arif scent now and blood on his hands... Adrenaline coursed through his veins...
He was not a sophisticate like his father.. The billionaire industrialist who'd wanted to rule an empire... No.. On the other hand he was a hands-on fighter who like trenches.. The intimacy to kill... Seeing fear in his quarry eyes. He was fueled by simpler things than his father... Revenge, hatred.. A need for cold hard cash....

"Is that you?.... Amal pointed to one of the photos showing a guide standing behind a fat white hunter proundly holding up the dead head of a buffalo...

"Yes sir... "The old man said not meeting his eyes...

"It's a very dangerous animal. The buffalo"

"My man here, his name is Mbogo, it means big bull buffalo... He is dangerous like the buffalo.... "

The man said nothing..

"What's your name?

"Jacob"

"How long you been tracking... ,Jacob?

"I hunted with my grandfather from when i could walk"

"You from around here?

"My village is near the Zambezi, you can hear the drums at night... "

"You work with the lodge a long time?

"More than twenty years sir"

Amal nodded, he brought his own tracker but local knowledge was invaluable... He stood in front of the man..... "Look at me... "

The man's lifted slowly, wide and white with fear.. Sweat gleamed on his ebony skin....

"I want the woman who was with the guest... Do you know the woman am talking about...?

"There was only one woman in the delegates party, sir"

"Qetsiyah Arif... The princess.. We came all the way herr from Zambia for her.. But now... "He clicked his fingers under the old man's nose... "She is gone..Just Like that!,we have searched the lodge, the grounds,everywhere..how can a woman like her disappear, Jacob?, Do you think she ran into the bush by herself, in those shoes, in that dress....?

Jacob said nothing..

She had help.. That's what happened ! My tracker found sign in the dry sand under the trees next to the lapa.. A man was waiting there, a big man, do you know who he was, Jacob?

Sweat gleamed down Jacob's face.... "No"

"Are you certain?,because you do know what happened to the lodge owners when they didn't cooperate with us... They're all dead.. "

Jacob swallowed... "I don't know who he is sir"

"But you are the best tracker, you can help me find him"

"Sir....i have a wife"

Amal glance at Mbogo... "We know"

Sweat trickled down Jacob's brows and he began to shake.

"Now listen to me carefully, Jacob"Amal said leaning forward"You find this man and princess for us, and your wife will be safe.. You will be my lead tracker, my own guy will walk as your flanker, you will both go ahead of the horses and cars.. Understand..?
Thunder boomed overhead.. The lights inside the thactched bungalow flickered and the masks on the walls seemed to come alive in th shadows..outside monkeys screamed..

Before Jacob could answer, there was another sound right outside the door, a snarling and clacking of teeth... A human scream.. Yelling.. A thud.. A whimper.... Jacob's gaze fixated on the door...

Through the door came one of Amals men, his arm dripping with blood, with him he dragged a reddish brown dog by a rope tied tightly around its muzzle and neck....

The dog frothed at the jowls and it's tail was tucked in tight...

Jacob went wire tense.. His eyes narrowing....

"You know this dog Jacob? Amal ask

"Jock, he's the Master's dog, I've been using him to track for a long time now. "

"Kill it"

Jacob stormed his eyes at him... "No.. "

All stilled, pearls of sweat trickled down from Jacob's sideburns.... His face sheen of persipiration...

"That's is a good dog, he can track.. He's fought like a lion"Jacob added

"Are you lying to me Jacob?

"Jacob doesn't lie sir"

"Give him the animal"Amal said quietly to Mbogo while watching Jacob's face...."You start now.. Use the dog"

The plates clatters as Mrs Lemuel arrange them in the kitchen cabinet...the thought of her daughter wasn't making her to focus... She quickly washed her hands when she heard the door bell rang...
She rushed out of the kitchen into the sitting room to open the door... She exhales when she saw a young man standing there with a package in his hand....

"Someone asked me to deliver this package to you... From Jane black shoe shop... "

Wondering who sent it.. She collected it and sign where she was showed to sign.... She thanked him and close the door...

She wanted to leave it there and continue with what she was doing in the kitchen but Curiousity couldn't allow her... She was bent on knowing who sent it...

Slowly she open the sealed carton.... She shivered and quickly drop it on the floor.... Fear ripping through her spines. Heart throbbing she look at the dead mouse that fell from the carton..... Hands trembling she lower to pick the note that was still in the carton... She unfold it.. She stood motionless as she read the words in the note..... She quickly rushed outside..... She look both sides but the delivery man wasn't anywhere... He was gone......
Infuriated she went back in... She look at the address.... Jane black shoe shop....
She grab her keys not bothering to change her clothes.. ...
Without hesitation she dash out of the house with her car.....

It was few minutes later when she got to the shop.... She insutilate.... Stay in the car for a moment.... Then she came down and walk into the shop....

Not bothering to look at anything.. She walked straight to the cashiers at the counter but focus her attention on one....

The cashier greeted her and she reciprocated.....

"Please am looking for someone.... "She said with a more tender voice....

"Who may that be madam.... "

She quickly remenber his face... She look around hoping to see him somewhere but he wasnt anywhere....with a faint smile she turn back her gaze to the cashier.... "Someone delivered me..... "she look around to find the dorminant thing in the place.... "a package of shoe not quite long.... He may have delivered the wrong package to me and there is something i wanted to give to him... "

"Do you know the delivery guy...?

She nodded... "Of course, if you can just show me where he is....

"When was this shoe delivered to you?

"Not quite long.... "

The cashier breathe out.... "Our last delivery was hours ago.... "

Mrs Lemuel bug her eyes... "Maybe the delivery guy could have gone somewhere else before coming..... "

"Maybe.. That could be possible... Just give me a few seconds.... "

Mrs Lemuel sigh... Hoping the delivery guy is found quickly....

"This are our delivery guys... So which of them was your guy.... "The cashier said turning the pictures in the computer for her to see...

She recall the guys face but non of the faces there look like his. The man he saw was dark in complexion......
"Sorry.. The man i saw was black... This are all white... "
Something in her quivered when she saw the change in the cashiers expression.... "Please if they are more than this, can you show me the rest.... "

"Alright... "The girl said... She swipe to another picture..

"That's him.... "Mrs Lemuel blasted out...

The girl stare at her.....

"That's the guy.... "she resounded...

"It can't be him... "The cashier said shocked...

"That's him... I know his face.... "

"Am sorry madam but that can't be possible... "

"But telling you, that's who i saw.... "

The girl emitted..... "It's true that guy you said you saw was a delivery guy here but.......

"But what....?

"He... He died a month ago.... "

Shock seize her.... "No that can't be.... There must be some explanation... Maybe he has a look alike.. A twin perhaps...

"No madam.. It was just him.... "

"No.. No... No... "she yelled....
Still skeptical she walked out of the shop....

"Madam... "The girl called after her...

She didn't reply... She quickly rushed into her car..start the engine and zoom off....

"It can't be.. It can't be... "She stopped the car when she realise she wasn't concentrating..... Was this another trick or she is seeing ghost....

Dead men making deliveries... A woman showing her a grave with her daughter's name... A dead mouse with a message...... Someone is definitely messing with her..... With all this signs.. She is more determined to find her daughter..... And she will find her even if it's the last thing she do......
"I will find my daughter..... "she hollered and burst into tears

With Shaking hands Annabel help Jacob carried her on the boot.....

Without time wasting Jacob jump into the front seat of the car... And shift into the drivers seat.. He quickly start the engine..... "What is wrong with you come inside.....? He said to Annabel poking out his head from the door....

Annabel stood shivering, the recall of what happened keep re-happening in her head..... "I can't come with you... "

"Are you crazy.... We are in this together..... So get your ass in here"

Jacob grunts... "It's midnight already.... If we don't get her out of here, she will start decapitating here....

With trembling hands and great fear lurking around her.... She look around... Then she quickly close her door...close the gate and jump into the car with him.....

Francis gritted.. Wondering how she knows it was her. He sniff when it occurred to him she was there when Katherine was screaming his name..... "Her..... And other things.. "

"Okay.... "He said and raced the car to a stop.....
He quickly came down from the car.... "Hey get up from there.... "

Irritated... Jacob opened the car boot.... He look at the bedsheet they've wrap her body with. He quickly unwrapped her... Without hesitation, he carried her...scanning his eyes around looking for a comfortable place to dump her.....

He sigh when he saw gutter... He quickly took her there and gently drop on the gutter filled with water..... "Goodbye bitch"
With those words he ran back to the car... He quickly start the engine....

"Did you throw out her shoes... ?Annabel quickly ask when they have driven a few pace away....

Jacob squeaked.... He stop the car again and ran to the boot... He saw her shoe with ridiculous heels.... He quickly pick them up and threw them at the direction they have driven the car from....
Then he jumped in back into the car.... started the engine and zoom off....

With sleepy eyes. Odumodu slowly open his eyes when the ringtone of his phone keep singing....
He blinked to shake off the hazy vision.. ...he quickly pick up his phone..
When he saw the caller, he didn't waste time before answering....

"Don't tell me you are still sleeping.... "Mayo's voice sounded...

Odumodu chulkled.... "Is it time for the meeting yet..?

She wore her slippers and dash out to the sitting room.... She stare at the time it was past nine already... She decided to turn on the news.. To see if anyone has found her.. A part of her regret everything that happens but a little part of her was glad Rose was out of the picture.....

She sigh.. A sigh of disappointment when she saw the news showing wasn't worth listening to.... She was about to stand up when the news reporter mentioned something.......

She quivered at the content of the news.... Then she quickly rushed into the room and woke Jacob.....

"What....? Jacob blasted out...

"You need to see this.......... "She said with shaking mouth rushing back to the sitting room...

Jacob groan and followed her....

"That's is the street.... Those are her shoes..... "Annabel said with trembling mouth pointing at the tv screen....

Jacob wipe his eyes.... "What.... We didn't burn her body... They found a burnt body...."

"In the place you had dump her body.... "Annabel interjects...

"No no no.... It doesn't make any sense... How can they found a burnt body.. Who would have burnt her body......?

"I don't know... "She snarled,tears bursting out from her eyes........"They found a ferminine body.. And they found the shoes.... It could be her..

"I dump a fresh corspe in the gutter, not a burnt one.... "

Annabel heart raced in tremendous speed as she thought of the possibility of it.... "Oh no.. Could she be alive.....?

"She is dead Annabel..... If that's her that is burnt. Then it's good.. Whoever burnt her beyond recognition really made things easy for us.. This way... It will be hard for anyone to know who she is..... "
