Who told you they cared, the easterners are self made and very much aware of the consequences of their decisions. This is not the first time and moreover whatever your political leaning or persuasion that should not form a basis for political dichotomy and participation, or rather serve as a ground for political witch-hunting or victimisation. There are states in the US whose majority voters are permanently for the republican no matter what, they are republican to the foot. That's the beauty of democracy, in fact if the easterner continues like this they can become a big player in Nigeria's political space, as everyone vying for the big post will take them seriously.

The pertinent challenge before the president is to immediately avail himself with the opportunity given him by this victory to unite the country and it's battered image, he should take charge of the apparatus of Government and direct the affairs of the Nation himself in the fear of God not hand them over to some few selfish cabals with narrow-minded dispositions and regional vision. Electoral victory is nothing if there is no clear blueprint on what is to be achieved. His touch should not be felt only in the arrest or prosecution of people perceived to be corrupt but in taking positive decisions that will grow the economy and put smiles on the citizens face, otherwise, four years will end like yesterday and nothing would have been achieved. And one of the way to start off it is by re-constituting his cabinet to reflect the true definition of federal character as National business should not be turn into a family business. This open subversion is one of the reason(s) for which OBJ and other well meaning and like minded Nigerians withdrew their support for him not necessarily on personal ground as some of his supporter would have him believe, as this is the norm world over to prod a sitting president in the face whenever he's going astray or not meeting up with people's expectation. Victimising of these aggrieved Elder statesmen on the other hand should not be seen as an option, as their concerns are most times noble, it is for the president to look into them and inculcate the noble ones while keeping away others that are not so important, afterall an umpire sees better even if he doesn't know as much as the player, and a tree cannot make a forest. As founding fathers their input and historical relevance cannot be undermined or dispelled even if the candidate they chose to support at any point in time did not win the election, this may impact on their general influence but they'll definitely continue to be relevant.
