Honestly I'm going through so much here. I'm losing it. I feel depressed, so much fear, unhappy and lonely. My husband's gambling habit has removed love and affection from our home.

The subject of Righteousness is one that we would expect that all Christians should agree upon. But is that the case?
The quoted verse, teaches us how much Jesus Christ hated lawlessness/sin and loved righteousness, just as God, the Father does.
And what was his reward? God's pleasure and delight in Him knows no bounds.

There are various interpretations of the Gospel and Grace of Jesus Christ concerning Righteousness. But I trust God to help us by the Holy Spirit to gain a good and true understanding of God's will through His Word.

What is Righteousness?
It is simply put, being in Right-standing with God.
It is also defined as Obedience to God's commandments.

There is no argument about Righteousness in the old testament. So I will be focusing on the New testament.
Because Righteousness truly is not of works.
Righteousness is imputed by God.
In the old testament, Abraham believed God and it was imputed to him as Righteousness.
Enoch, Noah, Job, Lot, etc were some of the Fathers of Faith who were called Righteous by God, even before there was Laws of Moses.

In the new testament, what is expected of a Christian since Jesus Christ has bought us from sin and paid our debt in full?
So many of us find ourselves falling back into sin, even to our own surprise. Why?
It is because we have not had understanding of sin and righteousness.

1 John 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.
1 John 5: 16- 17 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.
1 John 5:18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

Having been delivered from the works of sin and darkness, we are now a new creation having found our victory in Jesus Christ over sin and death.
If we truly understand that sin/lawlessness is from Satan, especially having been in the bondage of sin for a time, we will have a bellowing anger and hatred towards sin. We will also begin to understand the Christ-like love towards sinners.

In conclusion, our assignment and mandate as Christians is to establish God's kingdom on earth and manifest his glory. Matthew 6:33
Sin is the kingdom of Satan.
Righteousness is the kingdom of God.

Satan through our flesh and mind has over the years made us love sin.
In Christ, we have to discipline our flesh and renew our minds to begin to love Righteousness. And this can not be done by our efforts or with the wrong heart. We need the right heart, the Power of the Word of God and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Righteousness is actually for our own benefit and good.
It is a perverted and reprobate mind that loves sin.
And God has delivered us in Christ.
So what do we need to do?

-We need to truly repent of our sins and believe in God and Jesus Christ His only begotten Son.
-We need to choose to know God through the life pattern and Word of Jesus Christ.
-We need to love God with all our heart and soul and strength and mind, and love our neighbors as ourselves.
-We need to follow God's commands.
-We need to become committed to living our lives for Christ for the rest of our lives.
-We need to understand that the purpose of the Holy Spirit is to give us Power and all that we need to be witnesses of Christ. Acts 1:8

When we truly hate sin and love righteousness, and we stay in the knowledge of God, we will understand through revelation of the Word that we have all we need in Christ to live a Victorious Christian life.
I conclude and pray together with you that as we start this new year, we shall receive the true revelation of the finished work of Jesus Christ, the Grace to work worthy of our calling, and the Love and Faith to Walk in the Spirit that we may not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

What is the narrow gate? You probably know the answer to this question – the narrow gate is Jesus – but what does it mean to find the narrow gate, and why did Jesus say many would try to enter and fail?

As kids in Sunday School, we learned about the broad and narrow roads. We understood that there was a freeway to hell and nearly everybody was on it. There was also a narrow way to life, a secret passage that few would find. But Jesus said the narrow gate isn’t just hard to find, it’s hard to enter : “Many will try to enter and will not be able to.”
That’s the first puzzle: why is Jesus hard to enter? And here’s the second:

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matt 7:13-14)
Why there are two gates? Shouldn’t there be only one gate? Aren’t we all born on a highway to hell? Aren’t we all lost unless we stumble onto the secret turn-off?

One leads to death, the other leads to life. A narrow gate, such as you might find in a city wall, is basically a door. Jesus is the door to life:

Jesus said many will try to enter the door and not be able to. The picture is of multitudes coming to the door of Jesus – they’ve heard about him – and they’re wanting to enter, but they can’t get in. The reason they can’t enter is because outside the door there is a bouncer called Religion. This bouncer is a bully and a thug and he speaks the devil’s lies

I need to work before he will accept me.” Instead of entering through the door of Jesus they choose the door of self-trust. Like Adam they believe the lie and choose the way of death.

The narrow gate is not hard to enter because God has high standards. (He does have high standards, but Jesus has met them all on your behalf!) The narrow gate is hard to enter because people are slow of heart to believe the good news and quick to believe the lies of self-made religion. “I am a mess. How could I approach a holy God in this sorry state? I need fig leaves.”

Instead of coming into the House of Grace and getting all their needs met by Jesus, they’re stuck outside trying to clean themselves. Instead of beholding the Lamb, they are beholding themselves. Instead of focusing on Christ and his sublime perfections, they are distracted by themselves and their imperfections.

Strive to enter

Why did Jesus say only a few find the narrow door (in Matt 7:14)? Because in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus was preaching to those under the law, and when you live under the law, especially a watered-down version of the law that makes you believe you can qualify on your own merits, you will have trouble finding the door of grace. Exhibit A: The Pharisees. They didn’t find the door because they weren’t even looking for it.

And why did Jesus exhort us to strive to enter the narrow gate (in Luke 13:24)? He is not saying we must strive in the flesh to overcome sin and pass the test. We strive to enter the narrow gate for the same reason we strive to enter his rest (Heb 4:11). It takes effort because walking by faith doesn’t come naturally to us. It’s the nature of the flesh to take control and make things right. (Fig leaves, again.) It takes effort to resist the flesh and allow our hearts to be established in God’s word.

There are two doors, two gates, and two voices. One speaks truth and the other speaks lies. One says, “Come to me all and I will give you rest,” and the other says, “Did God really say…?” One speaks the words of eternal life and the other speaks the words of death.

The narrow gate is hard to enter because our flesh (our sight and understanding) has trouble receiving grace. Our flesh wants to follow Adam. “Don’t worry God, I got this. I can take care of myself.” And the result is death.

We can only enter the narrow gate by faith. “Lord, I don’t got this. I need your help.” And as we receive his grace and abide in the restful persuasion that Jesus has got this , the result is life.

The lady who hails from Wula in Boki Local Government of Cross River, GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered, had traveled from Lagos on the 16th to her village to attend her nephew's wedding and possibly celebrate Christmas and new year.

Speaking with GRASSROOT REPORTERS, a friend of the lady, Ogbuefi David said:

"She was taken to her Aunty where she spend almost half of her life selling KPOMO (Cow skin) for her Aunt.

"She left her village (Wula) for Lagos continue to work as house/shop help.

"She is a kind and nice girl. From our deduction, she boarded a vehicle at a park probably one of those vehicles that go to Ogoja to carry goods for a lesser fare.

"She was contacted and disclosed that they slept at Onitsha because the vehicle was bad. The next day, she was contacted again and she said she was like an hour to Ogoja, this was the last time anyone spoke with her before her phone went off."

"After about 5 days or thereabouts, a call was place to her line and it rang and went off. Till date her phone can't be reached and she is not in the village."
