In another view, I think the religious leaders, govt and traditional rulers of the northern part of the country need to educate their young folks who takes to violence whenever their feelings, opinions, ideology and believe are threatened or abused.
No region must have that monopoly of Violence and the body language of the president is giving this guy the go ahead to perpetrate their act further.
So I urge serious sanctions and prosecution of any northerners who resort to violence on any of the aforementioned belief of the northerners from the other post.

My two cents.

legally, I agree there is nothing wrong with what he did as far as our constitution is concerned. But morally and considering the volatility of the region where this man displayed this his stupid, is very very wrong if you don't view this sentimentally.

In fact, the complainant and the police should be applauded for averting another bloodshed that would have followed his actions if not reported soon enough.

I believe those wailing on his arrest will be the same people That will abuse the police and govt if the action had led to bloodshed and destruction of properties.

exactly humans will take a monitoring role but in the long term the course will become almost nonexistent these things are hard to accept
You are still missing the point, the machine, robot, computer or whatever you call it will not be available in the first place without the engineers.
And technology keep upgrading all the time.

Imagine if the discipline is now in extinction, that means factories and coys are now using the existing robots to carry out their various activities. This will lead to the shutting down of research and creative workshops that are coming up with new and improved initiatives to solve those problem. Immediately that happens, nobody will be interested in the discipline. But where the big danger lies is when the existing technology fail to meet the demands of the evolving world.

This is why Africa is so obsolete when it comes to technology because we abandoned our creative art work, didn't improve on them and the white men did otherwise and the result is what we see around us.

u must have studied mechanical engineering hope u realize the syllabus of DAT course can be taught to a computer especially with artificial intelligence
Of course it can. But who do you think is gonna design operate, maintain and program such software for the computer. It still boils down to the mechanical engineers

I tell you another one, do you think humans are the one assembling cars we use today? Of course not. Various assembly are done by robots in car factories operated and controllee by the engineers.
Any advancement in computer aided design is not completed in engineering without the engineers.

Don't mind the dude if only he knows some courses mechanical engineers do n where they can work. mechanical engineers can effectively man managerial positions. they r trained to manage man, MATERIAL and RESOURCES.
they can even work in hospitals. biomedical engineering is branch of mechani engineering. they design syri/nges, heart pacers., artificial implants, prothestics devices etc. in fact they use the concept of anthropometry to design devices that will be comfortable to the end users.
mechanical engineers r also involved in building services. plumbing, design of lifts, design of building powerplants, material testing, cooling load estimate, air-conditioning etc. provided a motion producing machine is used in any field of endeavor, mechanical engineers can work there. I can go on and on. I hope this little will awaken his shallow mind to the wide areas mechanical engineers function. Even the robots the OP is talking about is a product of engineeing. because Nigeria does not appreciate engineer does not mean it will go extinct. My ignorant fellow go and spread the word
I can't agree with you more. That has been the thinking of an average illiterate and those illiterate literate around us. I guess because the descipine name is synonymous to the local mechanic, that's why most people like that fellows see it that way.

Mechanical engineering is so vast that, even after your first degree, u have vast area to do your post graduate studies. Material science and testing in standard industry is enough to start a career.

Production and manufacturing, maintenance, design, power and energy, manager of man, machine and resources, research in industry etc. The list can go on and on.

Don't mind the fella, you cannot see beyond your horizon.

The ijaw/Niger delta people can play victims for all I care. This administration has made it very clear that the sovereignty of the federal republic of Nigeria cannot be jeopardized or question.
That been said, the NDA or whatever other group who wants to milk from this current administration like they always do with the past administration ought to realized a formal general is now @ the helms of affair and you don't negotiate with a descipline general on what he presumed is right.

While they are busy vandalizing oil installation in the country, thereby sabotaging the economy, the indigenes of this region laud that as a remarkable achievement despite the havoc on their environment.
They even went further to threaten the Nigerian army of stepping a foot into their region. That's like an effontery to any commander in chief of the arm forces of any country.

Just because he wanted sanity in our system by blocking your oil theft and bunkery, you decided to turn your place to Burundi. The ijaw people should face the consequences of their warward and lazy crap youth who are taking up arms to selfishly enrich themselves leaving the unfortunate common man on the street in the region hopeless.

When you bring a knife to a gun fight, you should be prepared for the consequences. The NDA wants a war, the NA is giving them one.
Like I said, the most unfortunate people are the Innocents people in this region.

The only way APC can win 2019 elections is by rigging.

Nigerians are tired.

Even Lalasticlala is tired of the deceptive change.
If things continue like this, I agree with you that PMB will lose the next election, all thing being equal, but that is still subjected to the quality and personality of the candidate of the opposition party which I presume have no credible candidate within the part to bear that load.

They should continue their stupid aluta spirit and prolong their stay in school. A situation where employers are looking for 25years old graduate with 10years experience. Instead of them to resort to dialogue and continue with their already obsolete academic curriculum calendar, they are busy rioting. Them go old for school.

As a final year student, my colleague in Lautech did election, two parties claimed victory in the said election which led to destruction of school properties.
School get locked up for weeks, ASUU went on strike, its been 2months and still counting. our graduation is no longer feasible this year.

Just food for thought to those who think rioting is the best solution to any problems confronting students and school management. Just know at the end of the day, you and I are the victims.

My two cents.

Education › Nigerian Youth, Social Media And The Fantasy Of The Leader Of Tomorrow. by Sirwallace(op): 5:43pm On Aug 15, 2016
things I have learnt about Nigerian youth especially on social media which is burning inside me and I felt the urge to unleash:

1. We argue and fight because of some people who directly or indirectly are careless and carefree about our dear lives just because of our ethnic, political or religious inclination and affiliation with these people. Sad part, these guys don't give a Bleep about our opinion.

2. We care less about how policies and decision making process in the government affect our day to day activities and posterity while we are pre-occupied with 1. above. "If you are too big to take part in the politics of your country, then u will end up being rule by your inferior"

3. An average Nigerian youth spend 12hrs or more on his mobile phone daily ( with back up from PHCN and power bank) doing virtually nothing for his self development but surfing the net, downloading junk files, movies, series and playing with the media app on the phone. Ask a prototype about the Nigeria civil war and he or she is gonna tell u whats their business with Nigeria war. Whereas, all he needed is just a Google or Wikipedia search that cost less than 500kb to have all the answers he needed.

4. Most Nigerian youth lack the basic knowledge of the history of the entity called Nigeria. Though, the government is not helping in this regard by not obligating history in our secondary school curriculum. But put to us, The supposed future leader of tomorrow, how do we perfect tomorrow if we don't even know where we are coming from.

5. The so called educated undergraduate youth find more pleasure in discussing football and celebrity gist than to analyze the trending issues that determine their future. Some dude will claim they know the bank account of Kanye West, some will spend hours debating on the genuinity of Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj butt, some can argue about the richest musician in Nigeria. I remember one guy during my I.T days arguing with everybody in the workshop that Sunny Ade is the richest musician in Nigeria. Pls, how does that put meal on your table or widen your horizon?
To some folks, its all about who is richer, cuter, generous, good looking and all that between Ronaldo and messi. High time we started to man up.

6. An average Nigerian youth who is an undergraduate are quick to run under the shade 'I am a student' whenever he or she is asked what he does. But asked such student about prospective career and future plans and u hear stuff like: only God knows, I am here to get the certificate, nothing concern me with their first class or 2.1, people wey get money for world na drop out, some na even third class, Dangote go school and so on like that. They forgot that The Dangote and Otedola of this world might not be that educated, but their children are attending some of the best schools in the world.

7. The powerful use of social media to canvass, convey, mobilise, message, reconnect among other usage with people all over the world cannot be overemphasized. In fact it was the major tool used by president Obama in his first election as American president when he used the popular Facebook to gather support of millions of american youth on the media platform. Unfortunately in Nigeria, the abuse of the social media is all I see everyday. What used to be powerful tool has been hijacked by political gladiator who use Nigerian youth to promote and protect their course by brainwashing the populace and cooking up stories in the Interest of their political godfather.
What can I say, when grown ass ladies are so obsessed with likes on their post in return by giving out their unclad pictures and videos on these media. I can relate with my faithful bro all across schools using the media to make ends meet by engaging in internet scam popularly called 'yahoo yahoo'. At least, man must survive.

We all scream of a better tomorrow for Nigeria. However, with the trend I see in many Nigerian youth, I see no brighter future for each and every one of us, just the same old stories. Thought of the kind of people we are gonna look like forty years after. Kind of moralities we will leave behind for the younger generations, our kids. Where is that value system? Nobody is interested in the building up process of the country, but we all wanna enjoy the massive structure.
Until we realized our problem is not only the leadership of the country but our collective responsibility, that's when we can actually claim being the leaders of tomorrow.
