Students of the Federal University Otuoke (FUOTUOKE), Bayelsa State were seen airing their grievances over what they termed the premature closure of the university portal by the school authorities.

In multiple photos and videos shared online, students were seen at the university main gate carrying placards bearing various inscriptions calling on the school management to reopen the portal.

They were said to have ignored calls by the university management to resume their ongoing First Semester Examination today, November 1, as they reportedly blocked the school’s entrance preventing movement within the school premises.

During the protest, the aggrieved students demanded that the school portal be reopened so that the affected students who were unable to complete their registration during the ICT upgrade period can complete the process.

It was reported that professor Teddy Charles Adias, the institution’s vice-chancellor had earlier directed that students who had genuine claims be allowed to write exams scheduled to hold on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday ( 1st, 2nd, and 3rd November 2021) and sign the score-sheets provided they had evidence of payment of fees.

A video showing pupils of an unidentified school singing the national anthem while they stand in the flood has surfaced online, Siggy reports.

In the video posted by @ on instagram, the pupils were standing all legs deep into the dirty water while they sang in unison pledging to always serve their fatherland.

This video has drawn numerous reactions from internet users all over Nigeria as the scene is not very pleasing to the eyes.

Ojo Akinola Iyanu, a student of Ogun state Institute of Technology (OGITECH) Igbesa, has been arrested by the police for allegedly causing a nuisance by trying to disrupt an ongoing school examination because he wasn't prepared.

A statement by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the state police command, says the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence gathered by the police that some students who belong to a cult group have concluded plans to disrupt the school examination which was rescheduled after the settlement of crisis between the school management and the students.

''Having not prepared for the examination, some of the students cultists enacted plan to ensure that the examination did not take place.

Upon the intelligence, the DPO Igbesa, SP Abayomi Adeniji, in collaboration with other security agencies such as NSDC, So safe Corps and the polytechnic security department decided to properly screen all the students before coming to examination hall right from the main gate.

While the screening was going on, the suspect and one other who was late identified as "Aloma" were intercepted with a black bag. While searching the bag, the second boy took to his heels while Ojo Akinola Iyanu was quickly arrested.

Recovered from the bag is one locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge.

On interrogation, he confessed been a member of the dreaded "AYE" confraternity. He confessed further that, his group decided to disrupt the examination because the examination came suddenly and met them unprepared.

Oyeyemi added that the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation. He also ordered that the remaining members of the group be hunted for and brought to book.
