A 20-year-old student of Demonstration Secondary School Akwanga, Nasarawa State, Kyuni Jonathan Bala was shot at by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, and his sister abducted, [url][/url] reports.

The incident was confirmed by the father of the victims, Salisu Mohammed Bala, on Wednesday, September 8. He said his 17-year-old daughter, Blessing Jonathan Bala was abducted during the operation which occurred on Monday, September 6.

Also confirming the abduction, the state police spokesperson, ASP Ramhan Nansel, told Siggy corresponents that the police are on the trail of the kidnappers.

The principal of Demonstration Secondary School, Mr. Elkahna Iwala, has sympathized with the family of the victims over the unfortunate incident and prayed for the quick recovery of his student.

An unidentified girl said to be about 15 years old has been reportedly murdered by unknown assailants in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta state, Siggy reveals.

It was revealed that the body of the young girl with her hands chopped off at the wrist, was discovered in a bush around Aragba Umuebu axis of Ukwuani on Tuesday, September 7.

Details of the incident are still sketchy at the time of this report but one Dr. Peter Esegbue, who shared the photo on Facebook said that there is palpable tension in Ukwuani in the wake of the brutal murder.

1. Lecturers’ Bad Attitude Towards Students
Some lecturers barely come to class, they won’t give notes or take time to explain well. In some schools, lecturers force students to buy handouts and even threaten to deliberately fail students who don’t buy. Isn’t this madness?

The way lecturers act like semi-god in Nigerian universities ehn, as a student, you won’t have a choice but to admit that “after god, na them“. If you don’t act according to their will they can make you waste your 4years in school.

This situation is even worse for female students whereby lecturers demand sex to give grades. If you’re a lady, you fine, you get nyansh, you con get bress, abeg don’t let any lecturer notice you. They will frustrate you if you decide not to have sex with them.


2. Too Much Fun Places Around Schools
Some students act like they are being paid to go to school. They don’t make any effort to learn while in school, they take school for a ride, and so on. Strange as it sound, students are sometimes the cause of their own misfortune.

At times, you can’t blame these students because having too much freedom and too many fun places around school environment is a major challenge on its own.

The number of hotels, clubs, and Night clubs around most Nigerian schools will make you wonder how students are supposed to concentrate with all these distractions around.


3. Home Sickness
Someone like me, whenever I am in school I am always missing home especially my mom, my siblings, and my dad.

I am always thinking of how mum takes care of me whenever I am sick and I also miss her food also her gists. Getting homesick constantly is a major challenge for most students especially freshers.

That is why it is always advisable for parents to always keep in touch with their children in school. If possible arrange once in a semester visit.


4. Brokeness
If you have a brother, sister, or a younger relative in any Nigerian school, please send them money as often as you can.

“Sapa” is real in most Nigerian schools coupled with the fact that this Nigerian economy is not favourable to even people that are working talkless of people who are in school to just study and eat.

The only time students have money in school is just within 3 weeks of resumption, after 3 weeks, brokenness will set in and that point attention will not be fully into studying again.

Brokeness sometimes is what forces many students into hustle of all sorts while in school which will end up affecting their studies. Some even go into prostitution and yahoo-yahoo.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun State on Tuesday dismissed a lecturer of the Department of English Language Dr Adebayo Mosobalaje for allegedly sexually harassing a female student, [url][/url] reports.

The dismissal of Dr Mosobalaje is coming barely three years after the institution sacked a professor of Management Accounting, Richard Akindele over sexual harassment.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the school, Abiodun Olarewaju, explained to [url][/url] that the decision to dismiss Mosobalaje was taken by the University Council at its last sitting on Monday 7th September, 2021.

"Having exhaustively deliberated on the report of the Joint Committee of Council and Senate, which investigated the case of sexual harassment against Dr Mosobalaje, the University Council, unambiguously declared its zero tolerance to sexual harassment in any form or guise and, accordingly, applied the appropriate University sanctions for such an offence as contained in the University regulation.

"It would be recalled that almost two weeks ago, the University Management formally inaugurated an "anti - sexual harassment policy" where their excellencies, Erelu Bisi Fayemi (the wife of Ekiti State Governor) and Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola (the wife of Osun State Governor) presented papers while a former Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Professor Yemisi Obilade was the main speaker."

"At several fora, the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to uphold the “Zero tolerance policy” for Sexual harassment and other social vices.

The Abia State University, Uturu, has been thrown into mourning following the death of three lecturers at the school on the same day.

A university source said the lecturers, Prof. A. I. Nwabughuogu of History/International Relations Department, Dr D. S. Okoroigwe of Geography/Planning Department and Dr Osince Okike of Political Science, all died on Friday.

The causes of their deaths have yet to be ascertained as of press time.

However, the source noted that many lecturers in the school were going through economic hardship.

He said, “We are being owed more than seven months’ salaries; the last time (we were paid) was January 2021.”

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Abia State University, Dr Victor Nkemdirim, confirmed the three deaths, describing the situation as unfortunate.

Efforts to reach a spokesperson for the varsity, Chijioke Nwogu, proved abortive, as his telephone line did not connect.

A text message sent to him had yet to be responded to as of the time of filing this report.

The entire family of Akwaya Ikyaagbe regret to announce to you the demise of their son Shagbaor Joseph who kicked the bucket on the 1st of September 2021 at about 9:30am by Fulani herdsmen at udei guma local government Area of Benue state.

Son/brother, it’s been a great shock with unquenchable tears of your early departure, should we question God? No..!! Because he has reasons for everything he does. Son/brother, it’s our earnest prayers that may the good Lord forgive you all your wrongs against him while on earth and grant you eternal rest, Amen.

Son/brother, you were good and nice to the family and the society at large, your worth to us was beyond sentiment, but as wicked as death is has taken you away from us. Farewell son/brother,we love you but God loves you most, till we meet to part no more.

Two 100-level students of the Taraba State University, Jalingo, have gone viral after they shared photos of them cooking and sleeping in their matriculation gowns.

The institution held its matriculation ceremony on Thursday, September 2, and apparently, students paid N1,000 to rent the academic attire for the occasion., [url][/url] gathered.

According to one of the students, Sefanu Saaga who shared a photo of him rocking the attire today, Friday, September 3, he decided to cook and wear the gown to sleep in order to exhaust the money he spent in renting it.

A graduate of the University of Uyo, simply identified as Kubiat was allegedly arrested and beaten to death by men of the Nigerian police force, (B division, Ewet Housing estate) in Akwa Ibom state.

According to one Christiana Sunday who shared the story on Facebook, the deceased student who was preparing to go for NYSC by November 2021, was arrested by the police at Eni stores at about 7 pm on Sunday, August 29, and was accused of armed robbery, [url][/url] reports.

Kubiat who is said to be the only son of his aged parents was allegedly taken to the police station where he was tortured to death the same night of his arrest.

His friends who heard of his arrest were said to have gone in search of him in various police stations but were told that they had no record of such arrest. His body was eventually found at the Ikot Akpan police headquarters mortuary after his aunt put a call across to some government officials who used their affluence to ascertain his whereabouts.

The police reportedly found out they had arrested the wrong person after beating him to death and proceeded to deposit his body at the mortuary.
