None of them will be the the nominees most likely. I think they know how much power is to be gained from the behind the scenes like Tinubu.
Cross river's Donald Duke is there also he might might the front runner and maybe a northerner or yoruba as vice. Either way its good,
I dont know about all these posters who are criticizing it- dreaming of a fairy tale political party, full of fairy tale politicians. Nigerians better wake up and learn to choose the lesser of the two evils cause there WILL NEVER BE a perfect political party or candidate. |

The Former prime minister, First president of togo Olympio Olympio, Sylvanus (Epiphanio) (b. Sept. 6, 1902, Lomé, Togo - d. Jan. 13, 1963, Lomé), president of Togo (1961-63). A leader of the Committee of Togolese Unity, formed early in World War II as a cultural organization, he was elected president of the first representative territorial assembly in 1946 and soon came into conflict with the French authorities. His party lost its majority at the 1951 elections and boycotted those of 1955. One of his early concerns was to unite the Ewe people, who were divided between British and French Togoland, The Éwé are the largest ethnic group in Togo, making up approximately 21 per cent of the population, and are related to a number of other southern groups, which are sometimes considered sub-groups of the Éwé. These include the Ouatchi, Mina, Adja and Afro-Brazilians who are descended from returnees to Togo from Brazil, primarily in the 19th century. Éwé trace their origins to the Oyo of Nigeria, some of whom migrated to today's Togo in the 13th century.

"THE Guardian of Prosperity and Panache" is how Ovation International, an African equivalent of Hello!, modestly describes Antonio Deinde Fernandez, who we revealed last week as a resident of Edinburgh's bejewelled New Town. A friend of Nelson Mandela and George Dubya, Fernandez is a Nigerian-born billionaire and the Central African Republic's permanent ambassador to the United Nations. onye_ngbu: So you ve never heard about Okonjo Iweala, Soludo, Emeagwali, Chimamanda and others . You've missed my point all of them are successful and well accomplished no doubt, but in retrospect who did they help unselfishly outside of their ethnic group? Have any of them written or spoken about any injustices of other ethnic groups that dont coincide with their own? Have any of them been jailed for unselfish reasons? I think not This is not to say others in Nigeria arent successful or well accomplished but its more of who has led selfless activism aside from their own ethnicity besides the Soyinkas Ganis and Fela even Fashola to some extent. What person has awarded and dedicated statues in their home town to people who arent their tribesmen? Fraud and corruption are practised by yorubas but so it activism and humanitarianism undoubtedlylol guys still no get message of what counts more in society onye_ngbu: By the way, how many people know about your fashola outside lagos state not to start talking about outside nigeria. hmm not suppose to be a yoruba or fashola thing but since you insisted I dont know maybe bill clinton

naijaway: Too much venting here o and some 1967 thinking in the 21st century. Am a nigerian born and raised in Lagos and my heritage is igbo. I don't know about yoruba being able to kill all the igbos in Lagos like this is 1967 or so. I am not tribalist or anything I believe every nigerian should settle wherever they want to in Nigeria as long as it is their responsibility to fend for themselves without corruption, armed robbery, kidnapping, or handouts. I believe that a yoruba can become enugu state governor and any state governor in any state in Nigeria as long as their requirements excluding tribe are met and that could be the same for any tribe. I have a lot of yoruba friends that I call real friends and will stand with them in any situation and I believe cuz from experience that they will stand for me too. That said, In a worst case scenerio btw yorubas and igbo, I can assess that it will be disastrous but guess what it would be disastorous more on the yoruba side of things. Igbos have an above average knowledge of most ethnic groups in nigeria and will be more likely to strike hard at precise targets while the yorubas will be more likely to strike mistaken identities and include more ethnic groups; the igbo population in Lagos is no joke and any wise military adviser knows that it should never be underestimated including the fact that igbos are more likely to sense a war quicker than the yorubas due to past experience and historical awareness; Most igbos in lagos have arms or are not too far from one and is also common knowledge that in a worst case scenerio in lagos, btw igbos and yoruba, the fight will be street to street and house to house; Houses will be burnt in record numbers because the igbos will not allow history repeat itself by losing their properties just like that, so it is common knowledge to burn down everything and then fight in the streets but it is 21st century so enuff AK47 on all sides of the conflict; The igbos on the east will be able to penetrate yoruba side of benin and the other yoruba states because they have more knowledge of the surroundings and in the long run trap a sizable amount of yorubas in btw the major fight in lagos and the major fights in ondo and osun, the chances of yorubas going past delta in a land war are very slim to none. All these assessments could be wrong but are highly likely. And these assessments are based on land war, the majority of the north not involved, and even if they were on whoever side, the war could still go this way. This assessment is also based on the facts that each side has equal amount of firepower but small firearms, if world powers supply weapons, I still think it will go the way i explained earlier with only a sizable but destructive penetrations of the yoruba airforce but that might even make it more dangerous for more of the yoruba areas because the igbo airforce will be able to really level the west more due to proximity from delta state. Any airforce that flies over niger delta might be shot down by bigger world powers due to oil field protection and it would be sophisticated than the ones sold to both sides. At the end of the day. Igbos are very okay with yorubas and this is an honest truth. U can say the same of yorubas to a point but on a larger scale igbos are more comfortable with yorubas. Its because yoruba muslims are not as radical, they have been dealing with yorubas more, they are more inter marriages btw igbos and yorubas more, they are more likely to do good or bad with yorubas in many situations, it is common knowledge that the igbos and yorubas and others in btw make the south states of nigeria more vibrant, together on an equal and honest footing igbos, yorubas, and in btw and behind, above, etc can make Nigeria very great. I love every tribe but in a worst case scenerio, the chances could be very different. This has to be the dumbest shit i ever read on NL. I dont even think yorubas have it in their mind of how to "penetrate" the East in the case of ethnic war. Im so mad at myself for even looking at this trash posted. Nothing sensible at all, some ethnic groups are known for diplomacy and knowledge of how there is more to be gained during times of peace, while some other ethnic groups are known for WAR ONLY. smh lol tpia.: explain.
Hausas and Yorubas have more open communal conflict than Igbos and Yorubas.
probably why the Igbo/Yoruba dialectic is more insidious. There is no worry or even thought on the behalf of yorubas about Wars, maybe igbo tho. Who knows? I cant tell the difference jealousy, envy, animosity I dont know but its ridiculous |
Politics › Re: Unbelievable! Sizable (70%) Yoruba population support Thief Bode George. by sjeezy8: 3:42pm On Oct 29, 2009 |
No doubt i was in class and my prof asked what are the problems in Nigeria caused by.
This ignorant Igbo girl opened her dirty mouth and was like " man its dem yorubas"(not knowing the teacher lived in Nigeria). Its 5 Nigerians in the class 3 Yorubas 1 edo and the igbo gal. The expression on everyones face was like what the hell is the fool yarning about. The teacher (black american) said he lived in Nigeria for 15 years from the 80's to early 90's, he lamented "How can a yorubas be the cause of Nigerias woes when there has only be 1 Yoruba presidency OBJ". He further gave accounts where prominent yoruba leaders were assassinated when ever they opposed military regimes. He also added how can any ethnic group cause the problem in Nigeria when everyone is governing their state of origin(it doesnt get any more equal then that). He said imagine if yorubas werent in Nigeria, who would be an actual formidable opposition? because so far many if not all of the people assassinated in Nigeria were of Yoruba ethnicity not to mention the Soyinkas and co, who dont only defend their tribe but the interest of all Nigerians.
While everyone was being quiet in Nigeria( if they didnt run away) its no doubt the leaders of yoruba ethnicity have been at the forefront of opposition in terms of Nigerias interest.
anyway how you see it, if someone is mentions Nigeria in a negative way its a yoruba like Obj(the SAME person flogged over and over again) but if someone talks about Nigeria in a positive way its Fela,Soyinka,Fashola and co, I cant think of any other tribe who has defended the interest or recognized the work of others besides their own.
No doubt others may leave Nigeria or Africa and make a name for themselves but when the words Africa or Nigeria comes to mind Soyinkas and Felas ARE NEVER LEFT OUT. I dont have time to blame poblems in the West on people from the North, East or South South, it just doesnt make sense. smh |
