lol you people are still arguing
There are igbo creole, yoruba creoles, ghanian etc, creoles are a mixture of whether cultural, race or tribe wise.
ALOT OF YORUBAS ARE TECHNICALLY MIXED but
In yorubaland theres no such thing as being "mixed" or "half". That is why yoruba and other oduduwas have always conquered and expanded their boundaries staying with one identitity( coming from oduduwa).

The ONLY thing that differs yorubas(oduduwas) from others is they're often boisterous about their origin. This could be due to the fact there's no such thing as "half", this mentality back then may have prohibited yorubas( other oduduwa people) from being "bred" out like others.

wassup with this beaf guy trying to cause division in yorubas- HES WANTS TO YORUBA I THINK lmfao

Why are Nigerians or atleast those who are not from Lagos state so against Lagos' progress? Any progress for Lagos is progress for Nigeria

what does lagos state have to lose?

ONIGBONGBO LCDA SET TO BECOME THE 1ST LGA TO ENJOY UNINTERRUPTED ELECTRICITY!

Respite has come to the way of people of Onigbongbo, Ikeja and its environ as solar street lights are being installed to increase security on our streets without having to wait for the ‘all-powerful’ PHCN whose trade mark is total darkness.

By the time the world comes to an end, or may be I exagerate a little too much which I doubt anyway, with the spate of robbery almost everywhere in the country in recent times, several of these robbery attempts would have been foiled if only PHCN has been magnanimous enough to supply power, at least during the dark hours when you cannot see who is right in front of you.

The rate at which Lagos State the face of lagos mega-city is changing under the able and amiable leadership of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) is astonishing. This is due to the fact that people are begining to see reasons and embrace the policies of Fashola’s administration with ethusiasm than it used to be at the begining of any painful reforms and restructuring.

Well, in as much as Lagos State Government under the leadership of Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola has made the well-being of an average Lagosian a serious business, his efforts must be commended and given the ovation it deserves. Walking arround Lagos State nowadays, there is a newness in it that makes you feel the impact of a responsible Government in place.

The Government of ONIGBONGBO LCDA, under the dynamic and digitally creative leadership of Honourable Idowu Obasa has also begun to receive entreaties from energy investors from Grand Terrace, in Riverside, California, USA, who visited our blogsite and wrote us saying they want to invest in solar electric power generation, transmission and distribution for the Onigbongbo Communities and industrial areas thus setting ONIGBONGBO as the first model community and local government in Nigeria, where uninterrupted electricity can be enjoyed without a blink for the 365 days of the year!

Solar electric power is a revolutionary lighting system which uses photovoltaic equipment that converts sunlight energy during daytime into electric lights in the night-time. The sunlight energy is stored in a maintenance-free, and sealed lead-acid batteries during the daytime, and made available during night-time to power a sodium-vapour lamp.

This independent and renewable lighting system, does not need transmission lines from PHCN, it is energy saving, and environment-friendly.

You are not yoruba so lemmi clue you in

sjeezy8:
Ooni of ife in benin to visit benin yorubas:
In his response, Oba Sijuwade, who described the Award as a surprise, said that it was an honour done to the 246 million Yoruba inhabitants all over the world.

According to the Ooni, “We thank the President for the Award. We thank him for the honour done to the Yoruba Obas and the 246 million Yoruba inhabitants in Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago and other parts of the world.
The Ooni, who said that traditional rulers in West Africa were getting in touch with one another, stated that one of the rulers from Accra, Ghana had written a letter of proposed visit to Ile – Ife, claiming that his ancestors hailed from Yorubaland.
people of yoruba decent have always come back and forth to yorubaland. The ooni has been asked to visit many countries but due to health he is limited.
This isn't a Nigerian thing its a yoruba thing. Yoruba is bigger than Nigeria, so anything that concerns yorubas is not only exclusive to  yoruba Nigerians.

Beaf:
The argument is that nobody from any ethnic group has the right to be proud that the Oku were originally from their ethnic group. Reason? They were sold into slavery and have survived without recompense by the now suddenly "proud" ethnic group. Someone here suggested earlier that we bury what is not and cannot be hidden; that we sold each other, wives, lovers, kids, sons etc.
Let's cut out the "Yoruba" here, because the same conclusion applies to every part of Nigeria.

We need to apologise to our kith and kin that were sold and we need to compensate them in some way. Ghana has done things like giving them land and their govt is engaged in several campaigns to welcome them back home.
The fact of the matter is they are proud of their heritage and this isn't a nigerian thing its a yoruba thing. Thats like saying black americans should not be proud of being of african descent. Eko/Lagos/abeokuta was the home for repatriated yoruba slaves.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT ELECTRICITY IN THE STATE BUT ELECTRIC ENERGY FOR CARS.

Didn't you see the example BABAPUPA POSTED

They consisted of SOLAR ELECTRIC PANELS

so yea please dont let us not argue blindly as you said.
BusinessRe: Lagos To Introduce Electric Vehicles In 2010[in A Blackout Nation] by sjeezy8: 8:21pm On Oct 23, 2009
Yea that why there called SOLAR ELECTRIC PANELS (PV PANELS)

Solar panels convert visible sunlight to renewable electrical energy.

Become energy independent, reduce your utility bills, protect yourself against blackouts and reduce environmental pollution!

Solar Electric (or Solar PV) systems convert sunlight to electricity. The systems consist of modules - or solar panels - inverter, charger and batteries. The PV modules generate DC electricity and send it to the inverter, the inverter transforms DC power into AC electricity and regulates the charge of batteries. The batteries store electricity that can be used at night or during blackouts.

Whats all the argument for ?
How would they consider themselves "yoruba" when the word yoruba was used by the british? Back then yorubas didn't call themselves yorubas they refered to eachothers town or common sayings.

Oku is shorten from the Yoruba word Oku- o used in sierra leone to refer to creoles of yoruba descent. ajayi crowther born in oyo raised in sierre leone.
http://books.google.com/books?id=z6MU26QTvbIC&pg=PA401&lpg=PA401&dq=oku+in+sierra+leone&source=bl&ots=sRJ9sxgxxJ&sig=LTesINMz6lL2a1W6UySku1nXqPk&hl=en&ei=H_rhSsq8KJDtlAeYz-SKBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=8&ved=0CBkQ6AEwBzgK#v=onepage&q=oku%20in%20sierra%20leone&f=false

Just as :"Nago" is used in brazil.
"lucumi" is used in cuba

"Yoruba" word isn't from oduduwa orignal language
Im not understanding the argument here we all know of the yorubas in Lagos state and Ogun who bear english/portuguese surnames. We all know how yorubas are yorubas from sun up to sun down, and how clingy they are.

As a Nigerian i am ashamed of all the stupid comments coming from small minded educated illiterates as NL folks would say.
What dont you get, the electric cars are power by solar energy or do you people not see solar panels being used?
The developed Nations now see the Value Africa holds and how global warming is decaying Africa FASTER than any other continent. Africa being the MOST valuable continent in terms of globalization and resources is now the center of concern for DEVELOPED COUNTRIES WHO GET MOST OF THEIR RESOURCES FROM AFRICA. Going "green" is meant to slow down global warming. If africa isn't sustained HOW WILL THE REST OF THE WORLD WHO IMPORT MOST RESOURCES FROM AFRICA, SUSTAIN THEMSELVES?

YOU PEOPLE ARE VERY DAFT SHA

2. Private investors are the ones supplying all these, SOLAR POWER IS CHEAPER AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY   . Lagos state just happens to have a the MOST progressive Governor in AFRICA, who understands GLOBAL WARMING and its effect in Africa (which is the center of globlization in the WORLD).

New Index For Investors Wanting To Tap Into Africa's Multi-Billion Pound Market - Star Of Africa Index Ranks Countries By Investment Potential - Africa Provides Wealth Of Opportunities Despite Global Recession - Ethiopia Provides Second Largest Investment Opportunities, After Nigeria

Topping the index is Nigeria, which, despite its poor governance score, offers significant scope for improvement in access to water, electricity and ITC infrastructure. Ethiopia ranks second, based on its potential for better countrywide access to water and electricity.

Some of the major opportunities available include:
An estimated 497 million people need access to electricity.
47% of Africa's energy use is sourced from biomass, much of which is inefficient and environmentally destructive.
600 million potential customers are waiting for access to improved sanitation.
Over 36 million hectares in Africa are suitable for irrigation, but are not actually irrigated.
628 million Africans do not have mobile telephone subscriptions.
Only 6% of Africans use the Internet.

24 hours electricity is for the FG to solve not Lagos state. Fashola doesnt have say in how private investors or funds are used in Lagos. If a company wants to use their electric cars in Lagos state, you cant expect him to say no, because at the same time, Lagos state receives money and who ever brought these investors receives commission. The world is focusing on Africa this time around and going green heavily in Africa benefits not only africans but the whole world. Globalization- Africa is the center of the world, if africa dies so does the world.

Electricity will soon be solved whether by the Govts act on their own or pressure from the western powers. Electricity is needed for agriculture and irrigation, to benefit the importers of African resources.

Felas family is of the same lineage
Igbos get the same heritage too, theres igbos also not alot.

Thats where the who ordeal of whether lagos is a yoruba state or not comes from. The people who asked for Lagos were yoruba creole/krio and brazilians.

yes u are correct; in the same way yorubas claimed stuff here and therehuh?
one thing certain some yorubas are ebos lipsrsealed
Nigerian yorubas dont claim anything and never have, its people around the world who identify themselves as being yoruba. Yorubas didnt go to brazil, cuba, haiti, trinidad and tell them to be worshipping shango, obatala for the heck of it.

no doubt yoruba is undisputedly one/if not the most strongest cultures in Africa, Latin America, west indies etc

this article is 100% correct thats why you see yorubas in Lagos/Abeokuta with the names like Adamson, Doherty, Cole, Williams, King, Pedro, Hernandez, Gomez, De souza, Da silva
