The governor signed the Executive Order on Thursday at the Council Chambers, Government House, Gusau.
A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, explained that the initiative is part of measures to check banditry activities in the state.
According to him, the order banned all consent letters for mining, adding that, “this includes consent letters to individuals, companies or organisations for mining activities.”
The statement said that Lawal reiterated that the decision was made due to the severe dangers posed by the rampant issuance of the consent letters.
The governor was quoted as saying that, “Today, as part of my administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity, I signed an Executive Order prohibiting traditional rulers from issuing consent letters for mining across the 14 Local Government Areas of Zamfara.
“As the Attorney-General rightly stated, mining activities in Zamfara have been identified as a significant factor contributing to the worsening security situation of the state, especially the menace of banditry.
“As a responsible government, it is crucial that we take decisive action to resolve the issue of illegal mining operations that have been contributing to the crisis.
“That is why I have signed the Executive Order.
"We are taking all necessary steps to rectify the problems bedevilling the issuance of consent letters which have been recklessly abused.
“We beseech Almighty Allah to guide us as we serve and safeguard the lives and properties of the people.”
This is coming a few days after an explosion rocked parts of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, leaving some persons dead, while many were reported injured with property worth millions of naira damaged.
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, said preliminary investigations revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in the area of the explosion stored explosive devices that caused the blast.
If you give most people 8 million to leave the country, they would stay behind and try to turn it to 10 million... until bandit kidnap their family, foooq their daughter and ask for 100 million plus mental scar.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has dismissed speculations suggesting that the wanted terrorist kingpin, Turji Bello, has become a member of the Nigeria Police.
Adejobi refuted the insinuations in a brief statement posted on his account on the X platform on Wednesday. His response came after a netizen with the username @OnyiPathfinder alleged that the terrorist had joined the Police Force. The netizen, posting a picture of Turji Bello in what appeared to be a Police uniform, challenged Adejobi to clarify the status of the wanted terrorist.
In reply, Adejobi stated, “Turji has never been recruited into the police. It’s a lie. This picture is not a new one.”
Turji Bello is a notorious bandit leader and terrorist operating in the northern part of Nigeria, declared wanted by security operatives.

First Lady Tasks Security Agencies To Curb Kidnapping, Other Forms Of Insecurity
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on security agencies to step up their game in the task of ridding the country of the menace of kidnapping and other forms of insecurity.
First Lady Tinubu made the call in a statement she personally authored on Monday, January 15, in reaction to the kidnap of Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, his six children and others from Bwari council area last Tuesday.
Between Tuesday when the kidnap occurred and today, Monday, the kidnappers have killed not less than four of their victims and moved demanded ransom from N60 million to N700 million.
However, the First Lady, in her statement, expressed sadness over the development and called for prayers for the victims.
“It is with a heavy heart that I acknowledge the devastating loss of Nabeeha and extend my deepest condolences to her grieving family.
“In difficult moments like this, I urge the nation to join in fervent prayers for the safe return of these girls. Let us hold the families close to our hearts in prayers.
“I implore our security agencies to intensify their efforts in addressing the pressing matter of kidnappings and insecurity in our nation. The safety and swift return of the Al-Kadriyar sisters and others in captivity should be our paramount concern.
“To the parents, especially mothers, I appeal for intensified prayers for our children and for peace to prevail in our beloved country.
May the Almighty God comfort the Al-Kadriyar family for their loss and may God bring the other children back home safely. God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, the statement said.

Coolestguy2023: Una sure say no be missiles them send so?
Eyewitnesses reported feeling a shockwave kilometers away. The aerial view of the scene, their is something that looks like a crater on the ground.
This seems beyond the impact of a gas cylinder. Further investigation is crucial to determine the nature of the incident, and authorities should consider the possibility of a powerful explosive device with significant firepower.
How did they get it and how many more are out there?
Dbegining: Let's not lie to ourselves, this is not a gas explosion.
Praxis758: Only God know the kind of Stone Age curriculum the Nigerian Police is using in its training schools.
It is professionally, legally and morally wrong for any security agency to arrest a suspect during a live coverage of a program. They should have allowed the program to be concluded before effecting the arrest.
Our police will continue to be a disgrace and the leadership should e embarrassed for this.
That means they can burst into Arise studio and arrest Rufai Oseni for always tackling the leadership.
20% of them are actually illiterate (give them a pen to write their name, their hands would be shaking in fear).
The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Patrick Tonye-Cole, against the victory of the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara in the March 18, 2023 governorship election.
Mr Tonye-Cole’s case is a fallout of the Appeal Court decision of 28th November which dismissed his appeal for lacking sufficient and convincing evidence.
The APC governorship candidate’s contention is that of irregularities, non-compliance with the Electoral Act, and Fubara’s continued signing of documents as the Rivers State’s Accountant-General after his nomination as the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Patrick Tonye-Cole’s appeal is against the Electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the PDP, and Governor Fubara.
A five-member panel headed by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun reserved judgment on the appeal after all parties in the suit adopted their briefs of arguments.
The apex court also dismissed the appeal of Innocent Kere of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) after it was withdrawn by his counsel.
