In what seem to be a controversial statement, Usman Bugaje, one of the lead speakers at the Northern Leaders’ Conference has raised a controversial issue on the ownership of Nigeria’s crude oil domiciled majorly in the Niger Delta region.

According to him, it is wrong for any state to claim that it is oil producing because 72% of the total land mass in the country belonged to the North and that by the United Nation’s law; it is only the North that actually has the right to claim ownership.

Dr. Bugaje, in his presentation, insisted that “there are no oil producing states.” He argued that “the only oil producing state is the Nigerian state itself.”

In order to reduce the level of poverty amongst homes, in my opinion I think a man who has not enough money to buy a house of his own not rent at least a 3 bed room flat and a car to move him and his family around should not get married.

When he gets married in his low credit, the family tends to suffer. The probability that he will get rich is actually 0.5 not up to 1 because Sundry expenses will now become expenses when married. Things he could ignore when single will now be important.

When children arrive, the probability of getting rich falls to an all time low of 0.2. Have you observed that most men have a higher credit score when single? If you have $500 at the end of every week when single if your job/income doesn't change or upgrade when you get married your $500 falls to $200 because you no longer feed yourself but feed a woman and probably a child.

When the child grows older school fees will set in. And other bad debts will be incured .

Don't get me wrong, I ain't saying he will never make it but in the mean time, why bring a child to the world to suffer? Even if it's for 6 years before you make it? Why take a woman from her father's comfy house to hardship in the name of marriage?

The much respected Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, got married to his new wife, Wuraola Obanor in Edo State, at a traditional marriage held in Benin, the Edo State capital over the weekend.

The ‎wedding rites was performed in the traditional Benin culture at the residence of the bride on Ewere Street, Etete, in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

Although the monarch was not physically present, he was, however, represented by his father, HRH Omooba Oluropo Ogunwusi.

The grand event was attended by relatives, dignitaries‎ and friends from the Ife dynasty and the bride’s family, many of whom were dressed in white and purple attires.

Among the dignitaries present at the traditional wedding were the Lawarikan of Apoje, Ife Kingdom, Oba Ademola Ademiluyi; the Arode of Ife, High Chief J. A. Awe‎; the Lowate of Ife, High Chief Adebowale Olafare and the Waasin of Ilare, Ife Kingdom, High Chief Olasode Akinropo.

Wuraola was presented to the Ooni’s family by her father, Mr. Williams Obanor, at about 12:30pm, after her bride price was paid in the presence of her family.

In accordance with the Benin wedding rites, supervised by the Esogban of Benin Kingdom and other chiefs, she was placed on the laps of the Ooni’s father, after seven counts.

She was also presented with gifts from her immediate family, including ‎a local mortar, broom and a pot, while traditional dancers from Benin and Ife entertained the guests.

The father of the bride described the wedding as a historic event in the family of the Obanors.

“I feel very happy. When you get a good thing in life you must be grateful to God because this is all the work of God. I never thought it could so because I never thought that, one of these days, I will become very close to the Ooni of Ife. Now that it has happened, I feel grateful to God. So, I wish her a happy married life.”

He also urged his daughter to live peacefully and in harmony with her husband.

“My message for her is that she has to be very polite, obedient and understanding, believing much in God and whatever she needs she will get it. If you have any problem with your husband don’t let a third person to hear of it; go to him and both of you should resolve the problem together amicably,” Obanor said.

“We have a lot of gifts for her. But in Benin, we don’t believe in giving a car or cash. We have what goes by tradition. That is, we have the local mortar, broom and the pot. These are some of the things we normally send and at least a box of cloths,” he added.

The two families and the guests later proceeded to Edo Hotel on Okada Avenue, Benin, for a grand reception awaiting the arrival of the new bride and the monarch’s father were driven to the venue in a limousine.

The event chaired by a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Femi Pedro, who thanked the guests for their presence.

Journalists were, however, barred from covering the reception by a stern looking female usher and a police orderly to the family of the bride, who insisted that only guests and media institutions with the invitation card would be allowed into the hall.

But it was learnt that the event was graced by personalities from all walks of life, including members of the National Assembly and government officials from Osun and Edo States.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has upheld a five years jail term slammed on Nollywood actress Ibinabo Fiberesima. Ibinabo was sentenced to five years imprisonment by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of a Lagos High Court for reckless driving which the death of a hospital staff. The former beauty queen was apprehensive throughout the process and bursted into tears upon the high court ruling.

She was alleged to have driven her car recklessly on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and knocked down a man, Giwa Suraj. The deceased was said to be a staff of a Lagos state’s hospital.

A Magistrate court (court of first instance) had earlier given the appellant an option of N100,000 fine for the offence. The judgment of the magistrate was,however, set aside by the high court which replaced the option of fine with a jail term.

Dissatisfied, Fiberesima had filed an appeal through her lawyer, Mr Nnaemeka Amaechina, urging the court to set aside the five-year sentence. Delivering judgment on Friday, the appellate court dismissed Fiberisima’s appeal and affirmed the decision of the Lagos High Court.

In a unanimous decision delivered by Justice Jamilu Yammama Tukur, the court held that the trial Magistrate Court lacked the discretion to have granted Ibinabo an option of fine having been convicted. The court further held that the appeal lacked merit and consequently dismissed it.

Other members of the panel are Justice U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu (presiding) and Justice Tijani Abubakar. It will be recalled that the appellate court had earlier ordered the appellant to appear before it when judgement was to be delivered. Counsel to the appellant, Amaechina, said the judgment will be challenged at the Supreme Court, adding that a notice of appeal had already been filed. Justice Oluwayemi of the trial court had held that the magistrate exercised “judicial recklessness” when he gave the convict an option of fine.

The court noted that the trial Magistrate must have misdirected himself based on the allocutus made by the counsel to the convict that she is a working mother. Oluwayemi had held that Sections 28 of the Traffic Law under which the accused was convicted did not give an option of fine.

She held that “when a term of imprisonment is mandatory for an offence the court cannot and should not give an option of fine.” She insisted that the fine did not serve the purpose of justice in the case and subsequently ordered that the N100, 000 be returned to the appellant.

The National Examinations Council (NECO), has released the results for the Nov./Dec. 2015 General Certificate Examination (GCE)

Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, disclosed this on Wednesday in Minna while addressing newsmen.

He said that a total of 50,060 candidates registered, out of which 47,507 sat for English Language while 47,554 sat for Mathematics.

Garba said that out of the number that sat for English,29,718 representing 62.55 per cent obtained credit pass while 32, 484 that sat for Mathematics representing 68.30% passed at credit level.

He said that of the 39,389 candidates that sat for Biology, 17,227 or 43.73 per cent obtained credit pass.

For Chemistry, out of 22,284 candidates that sat for the examination, 11,951 representing 53.63 per cent made it at credit level.

The registrar added that out of 22,201 candidates who sat for Physics, 818 or 3.68 per cent passed the subject at credit level, while in Geography, 19, 781 candidates sat for the examination, and 3,851 or 19.46 per cent passed at credit level.

Garba pointed out that performance of candidates in Government indicates that out of 23,497 candidates that wrote the subject, 10,226 or 43.52 per cent made it at credit level.

He said that in Economics, 39,406 candidates sat for the examination and 23,991 or 60.88 per cent passed the subject at credit level.

“In view of the fact that the examination was for private candidates who were no longer in the school system and looking for one or two credits, the desperation to engage in malpractice was high.

“This led to an increase in the percentage of candidates involved in malpractice, compared to the figure for 2014,” he said.

Garba said that the NECO was devising more ways to reduce malpractice in the examinations in order to counter the various illegal strategies adopted by candidates.

He said that malpractice was on the increase, adding that a comparative study showed an increase between 2014 and 2015 in most subjects.

“A comparative analysis of malpractice cases by subject revealed that while 635 cases were recorded in English Language in 2014, 1,075 cases were recorded in 2015.

“Also, in Mathematics, 634 cases of malpractice were recorded in 2014 while 1,799 cases were recorded in 2015.

“In Economics, 570 cases of malpractice were recorded in 2014, while 880 were recorded in 2015. In Government, 363 cases were recorded in 2014 while 564 were recorded in 2015,” he said.

Garba advised candidates to access their results on NECO website Neco Results 2016, using their Examination Registration Number and scratch cards.

The 14-year-old Ese Rita Oruru who was rescued and released by the Nigerian police to her parents after being abducted by Yinusa Dahiru, alias Yellow may be about 5 months pregnant, according to Vanguard.

The white Hijab she wore when she arrived on Tuesday, was used to disguise the alleged pregnancy. Her pregnant condition was what made the IGP, Solomon Arase to give instructions to fly her to by air after she was rescued, rather than by road.

This was after she had been handed over to the Gender and Child Protection Unit where a team from the Medical Department of the Force carried out a comprehensive medical examination of her at the Police Medical Facility in Area 1, Garki and confirmed her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, the IGP has directed the Bayelsa State Police Command to take over investigation in the child violence offense saga because the offense was committed in Bayelsa which is the place of residence of the abductor, Yunusa Dahiru.

Consequently, Vanguard was told that Yunusa will be moved to Yenegoa to face interrogation and prosecution for kidnapping and child abuse as well as violence against a girl-child.

The Indigenous People Of Biafra , IPOB met the Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis after the group took their campaign for secession from Nigeria to the Vatican City on Sunday.

During his weekly Angelus address where the Pope addresses crowds of pilgrims gathered in St. Peter’s Square from the balcony of the Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis extended a word of welcome to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The Pope’s statement was greeted with cheers and celebration by the Biafran group, who were waving flags during the address.

In a release yesterday in Nigeria, the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, said it took its agitation for the release of its leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu to Pope Francis at Vatican City for him to see the level of killing and injustice meted to them by the present All Progressives Congress government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing newsmen yesterday in Nnewi, IPOB Media and Publicity Officer, Mr. Emma Powerful said IPOB has made 5,500 calls to Pope Francis who accepted and gave his word to pray for the agitators and talk about Biafra and its restoration.

“The IPOB bombarded Pope Francis with 5,500 calls and the Pope answered the calls and gave his word to make sure he talks about Biafra and its restoration and yesterday, about 35,000 Biafra agitators in Europe, Asia and America visited the Pope at Vatican City and the Pope and other Catholic leaders addressed them as Biafrans and prayed for them.That was the first time a world leader at that level addressed us and called us by the name Biafrans and prayed for us,” he said.

“We are therefore calling on other church leaders to condemn the evil of killing innocent protesters and agitators and detention of an innocent man who did not do anything to break the law of a country we are not part of, a country that we are demanding for our freedom they have forcefully taken and upon that, they are killing us for demanding for our freedom. This evil must be condemned by the world leaders and religious leaders, whom we want to pray for us.

“We urge the Christian leaders, Archbishop of Canterbury, Anglicans worldwide, World Christian Society, WCS, American Christians to pray for Biafra actualization and freedom. This is the time to stand up for the truth because the Boko Haram members who are killing people on daily basis have not been visited with the type of extrajudicial killings with which this APC government has visited us,” he said.

In a landmark judgment the Federal High court in Lagos has ruled that successive governments since the return of democracy in 1999 “breached the fundamental principles of transparency and accountability for failing to disclose details about the spending of recovered stolen public funds, including on a dedicated website.” 

 The court then ordered the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to “ensure that his government, and the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan account fully for all recovered loot.” 

 The judgment was delivered on Friday by Hon Justice M.B. Idris following a Freedom of Information suit no: FHC/IKJ/CS/248/2011brought by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP). 

 The details ordered by the court to be disclosed include: information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets by each government; the amount of recovered stolen public assets spent by each government as well as the objects of such spending and the projects on which such funds were spent. Justice Idris dismissed all the objections raised by the Federal Government and upheld SERAP’s arguments.

The Supreme Court has upheld the convicted General-Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a Rev. King to die by hanging. In a unanimous judgment on Friday 26 of February 2016, a seven-man panel of Justices ‎of the apex court led by Justice Walter Onnoghen, upheld the death sentence that was earlier handed to Ezeugo by the Lagos State High Court.

In my residence that evening, I heard shouts of Daddy. The screams came from one of my daughters (his female followers), Kelechi. I was wearing shorts and I ran down from upstairs. 

*”I saw flames of fire on my daughter, Ann. When I came down, one man was helping to douse the fire on her, while some other people were there. I helped in drawing her to the tap, but the tap was not running. I was also praying while trying to save her. Fortunately, the fire went off.” 

*”We then took her to the nearest hospital where she started receiving treatment.” 

*”I am a preacher. I know that the spirit of witchcraft is against the Almighty God. If somebody is a liar, he is bewitching God. I don’t condone lie. Dr. King does not condone sin. I flog a lot. I have canes. If husband and wife mess up by having misunderstanding, I have to settle them.” 

*”But the person that is at fault must be flogged. If the person refuses to be flogged, I will send him out of the church.” 

I served Rev Emeka King while naked 

– Witness 

A prosecution witness in the case against King, Susan Chizobar Onuorah, told the High Court that she was always stark naked whenever she wanted to serve him. 

Led in evidence by the then Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs Bola Okikiolu-Ighile, the witness said: “When I came to live with the accused (Rev. King), he told me that I would be his permanent maid and that I would agree not to marry. 

“He said anytime I wanted to serve him, I must be stark naked which I did. No pants, no bra, I would be completely nude before him and I did this not once, not twice, but for several years. 

“He also ordered me not to tell any member of my family where I was living. He gave me a ring which I always put on to indicate that I am his permanent maid and all this he made me to put into writing. I am a member of the Lord’s Army and we bully people, putting fear into them and molesting them. 

“He is a very violent person; he would beat us mercilessly, and as a result, we always have wounds on our bodies. He called himself god, the owner of the universe and could do anything. We know this is not so, but out of fear, we could not challenge him. 

“On the 22nd of July 2006, the day of the fire incident, a sister named Kelechi came to call me from the Boys’ Quarters of the accused’s house where we were staying. She said the accused wanted to see me. 

“When I got to him, he did not even allow me to kneel down as we usually did when talking to him before he started beating me with stick, rod and anything he could find. I started crying, shouting and begging him not to kill me. 

“It was then I noticed others who were there: Cosy, Chiejile, Jessica, Ann, Vivian and Kelechi. He accused me that I lied to him that Chiejile did not sleep with me, whereas Chiejile had confessed to him that he slept with me. But Chiejile never did. He only said that so that the accused would not kill him. 

“He said he would kill all of us. He then asked Kelechi to go and bring fuel and matches, but when she brought them, he told her that the petrol was not enough and that she should go and bring more which was brought in a very large plastic container. 

“He then marched us out of the room, saying he did not want to burn his rug and chairs. While we were outside his room, but within the church compound, Kelechi poured petrol on us on his orders and he struck the first match which did not catch fire. 

“When he struck the second match, we were all engulfed in fire, but I did not know how I managed to escape from there and I ran back to our apartment. When I noticed that Ann had been taken to the hospital, I ran out in my night gown and I never came back to the church. 

“I came out of the place by the grace of God. I am free now; I am no longer under the spell of the accused person.”

The world football governing body, FIFA have announced Gianni Infantino as the successor to the embattled former FIFA President, Sepp Blatter. The new FIFA president emerged after a tightly contested election.

Infantino saw off President of the Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman, former FIFA executive Jerome Champagne of France and Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan.

Following a second round of voting, needing 104 votes to win, Infantino polled 115 and was named FIFA president until 2019 – the second successive Swiss president.

The outspoken Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose has raised allegations on President Buhari's plans to Islamize Nigeria. According to Vanguard, Fayose made the allegation during the PDP Rivers state thanksgiving service for the state governor, Nyesom Wike, whose election was upheld by the Supreme court on January 27th. Fayose reportedly told the gathering he had a secret to reveal about the present administration. When asked to share the secret, Fayose said;


“They have started subtle moves to make Nigeria an Islamic nation, but God will stop them. This was done in 1984, it failed, it would fail again.”he said He added that he was not afraid of anyone and that his name is Peter whcih means Th Rock. “I am not far away, I am in Ekiti. I am Ayo Fayose, Peter the rock, if you hit me you will be in trouble. If I hit you, you will be in trouble.”. To substantiate his allegation about Buhari's plan to Islamize Nigeria, Fayose said: “Why did five of them go to Saudi Arabia to wait for our man there (referring to President Buhari and state governors), if they don’t have agenda. The agenda is coming small small, but we will resist it. Nigeria is a free nation where we proclaim the name of Jesus Christ freely, and we believe in Allah for those who are muslims. This nation will not be taken for an Islamic nation,” he declared.

The coach who as at yesterday told Nigerians he was working hard and scouting players to ensure Nigeria beat Egypt in the double header AFCON qualifiers next month, shocked Nigerians by going on Twitter to tender his resignation citing 'unfavourable working conditions' and 'contract violations' as reasons for quitting the job.

In his letter sent to the NFF General secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, and dated February 25, 2016, he said.

“Your contractual violations and the interest of the nation necessitates that I tender my resignation and recourse to the termination of our working agreement,”
Former Super Eagles coach and technical director Shuaibu Amodu and Olympic team coach Samson Siasia have been reportedly pen down as temporary replacements to take over for the must win match against Egypt next month.

Siasia posted a short stint as Eagles coach between 2010 and 2011. He was fired after he failed to qualify the country to the 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea while Amodu has twice helped Nigeria qualify for the World Cup in 2002 and 2014.

A 29-year-old Nigerian Idris Ogunsanya has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for defrauding a number of people of several thousands of pounds.

Ogunsanya who was unemployed and resided at Blackwall Way was found guilty of fraud and jailed on Friday, February 19, at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Ogunsanya until his arrest lived an expensive lifestyle. He enjoyed luxury trips to Dubai in business class and and stayed at expensive hotels including the Burj Al Arab Hotel.

According to Metropolitan Police, Ogunsanya was arrested after he used a stolen credit card to buy a 375 bottle of Dom Perignon champagne at the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel in Canary Wharf on November 1, 2003.

Other items recovered from his address includes, a large quantity of stolen credit cards, £6,000 in cash, a device for skimming card details from ATMs, credit card reader, 60 inch television, bottles of champagne and several pair of expensive trainers.

Further investigation established that Ogunsanya defrauded his neighbours and a number of people of £40,000.

The outspoken leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Front, NDPVF, Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo has said that contrary to the perception in most quarters that the name Biafra which was adopted by the then breakaway Eastern region is Igbo, the phrase is Ijaw.

He also noted it was an Ijaw man, who suggested the name at a meeting convened by the late leader of the defunct Republic of Biafra, Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu to decide on the way forward for the Eastern region after the 1966/1967 pogrom.

Dokubo, who said this in a statement stated that the late Niger Delta activist, Maj. Isaac Adaka Boro affirmed that Ijaw is Biafra in chapter six of his autobiography entitled: Twelve Day Revolution.

He further said that the ties between Igbo and Ijaw ethnic groups are inseparable, adding that It was another Ijaw Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson, who first played the Biafran national anthem during the proclamation of independence on May 30, 1967.

The statement reads; “Ignorance can be a terrible disease but it is curable if the sufferer is ready to humble himself to learn and accept the cure for his sickness. Biafra is a Kalabari Ijaw phrase Bia fulo meaning not properly cooked.

The Kalabari of Kula named the estuary of Santa Barbara Bia fulo because of the turbulence of the sea at the estuary. The Portuguese like they did to many other names, words and phrases which they could not pronounce properly named the area Biafra. Later the coastline from the estuary of River Nun to the coast of Gabon was named the Bight of Biafra.

“The doyen of our struggle Isaac Adaka Boro clearly affirmed that Ijaw is BIiafra in chapter six, page 57 of his autobiography ‘Twelve Day Revolution’. Col. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, before the declaration of secession, convoked an Eastern Nigerian consultative Assembly to decide on the direction and way forward for the Eastern Region after the 1966/1967 pogrom against Easterners in the north.

The assembly debated on many names put forward by delegates and chose Biafra which was put forward by Frank Opigo an Ijaw.”

The Ex-Minister for Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has described the narratives of her former group managing directors, GMDs, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, with regard to the ongoing legislative probe of the oil swap and OPA deals as totally fabricated and mere lies.

The estranged former minister refuted claims that she approved $24 billion for Renewal of the Crude Oil/Refined Products Exchange Agreement, otherwise called oil swap deals without contracts.

From the inception of the deal in 2009, Federal Government was meant to realise about $1.82 million per 60,000 barrels per day, bpd, against the then losses of $1.47 million being recorded by the corporation. It is uncertain if all the proceeds from the deal were remitted to the federation account. During their appearances before the legislators last week, Mr. Austin Oniwon, who was GMD, NNPC, from May 17, 2010 to June 12, 2012, and Mr. Andrew Yakubu, June 12, 2012, to August 2, 2014, said Alison-Madueke had granted them approvals for contracts extension. In a statement meant to set the records straight yesterday, she rejected some newspaper and online reports, which claimed that she granted an “extension” instead of ‘Approval for the Renewal of Contracts’ for the swap arrangements.

Alison-Madueke, who is currently undergoing extensive cancer treatment in London, was quoted as describing the latest attack as “fabricated tissues of lies deviously concocted to sustain the escalating evil narratives against her person.”

The embattled former minister, who spoke through her spokesman, Mr. Clem Aguiyi, recalled that she gave the following approvals for renewal of contract: one-year term each for both Messrs Trafigura Beheer BV, and Messrs Societe Ivoirienne de Raffinage (SIR), in August 2010; two-year term in August 2011 for the same companies, and one-year term to NNPC subsidiary, Duke Oil, in January 2011.

She added: “Two other approvals were consequently sought by the GMD, NNPC, the first of these on August 29, 2014, seeking to ratify all three aforementioned approvals, which had apparently variously expired during the course of 2013.” She said she approved all three “in view of the criticality of the situation.

Expiry of those terms was put at December 31, 2014, following assurances to the minister that the contractual obligations of the parties to NNPC had, in fact, been fully met, despite the regrettable lapse in renewal time.” In her narrative, the lapses in expiration to renewal dates were put at seven months for Duke Oil, 10 for SIR, and 12 months for Trafigura.

Furthermore, Alison-Madueke recalled that she had given fresh approvals for Offshore Processing Agreements, OPA, on October 28, 2014, following the recommendation of the then Group Managing Director, GMD, NNPC.

The approvals included a new term of two years commencing from January 1, 2015, for Sahara Energy Resources Ltd; Aiteo Energy and Duke Oil. According to her, “NNPC strongly recommended and outlined the benefits of the OPA over the swaps and put forward the case for migration from the OPA and crude exchange (SWAP) contracts to OPAs fully.

“NNPC posited that the ‘experienced benefits of the OPA to the Federation’ would be much greater. All approvals were due process-driven and were only given by the Minister, following formal statutory written requests, which contained the technical basis for the renewal and were sent to the Minister by the GMD-NNPC, as is the normal practice.

“NNPC had clearly requested for the approval of the Minister for ‘Renewal of the Crude Oil – Refined Products Exchange Agreement’ and ‘Renewal of Offshore Processing Agreement’ on all the various occasions outlined earlier in this press release.”

Her spokesman further noted that “whereas, it is the Minister’s responsibility to either give or refuse ‘approval’, it was not within her purview as Minister to draft, initiate or conclude the processes of signing the final contracts. “It is the statutory responsibility of NNPC to ensure that all technical areas are duly covered and all requisite due process parameters are duly implemented.”

The Oodua Youth Movement (OYM) has pronounced All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader and former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as leader of the Yoruba race due to his various immense contributions to democracy in Nigeria.

The group said the pronouncement became imperative as since the demise of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Pa Adekunle Ajasin and Chief Abraham Adesanya, nobody has been able to provide purposeful leadership and unite the Yoruba race.

Speaking at a press conference held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the National President of the group, Comrade Olalekan Owolabi, said since the death of these famous Yoruba leaders, Yoruba people, especially the youths, have been living like a herd of sheep without a shepherd.

Owolabi said, considering how Tinubu has been discovering the best among the younger generation of the Yoruba people and presenting them for leadership, he is qualified to fill the leadership vacuum in Yoruba land.

The group said it is also impressed with the way the new Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi is pursuing peace and unity among the traditional rulers.

OYM, however, urged all Yoruba leaders to close ranks in the interest of the race.

Considering this, it is our view that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is qualified to fill the leadership vacuum left behind.

The Nigerian Air Force has in a swift reply to earlier reports that the agency have located the position of the chibok girls, denied the reports that it’s operatives had located the missing girls of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok.

The Director, Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Group. Capt. Ayodele Famuyiwa, said in an electronic mail on Saturday that the claim misrepresented an interview he granted Channels Television on February 12, 2016.

According to him, what was said was that the NAF had the capacity to identify possible areas where the girls might be held.

Famuyiwa said that while the NAF had not identified the specific location of the missing secondary school girls who were abducted in April 20, 2014, the service had been working hard with surveillance aircraft covering a wide area in the search for the girls.

He said that the NAF would continue to contribute to the mission to degrade the capacity of the insurgents and to work towards finding the girls and other Nigerians held captive by the insurgents.

“The attention of the Nigerian Air Force has been drawn to a statement to the effect that the NAF has located the position of the Chibok girls. Please, let it be known that this statement is a misrepresentation of the interview that the NAF’s Director of Public Relations granted the Channels Television that was aired on Friday 12 February 2016.

“The NAF is hereby making it categorically clear that in the said interview the director made mention of the NAF’s ability to identify possible location that the girls might be in.

“Hence, the NAF wishes to categorically state that it has at no time identified the specific location of the Chibok girls. However, it is working round the clock with surveillance aircraft covering the over 157,000 km2 area of the North East in order to identify the position of not only the Chibok girls but other Nigerians that might have been held captives.

“Towards the realization of this goal, the NAF has from January 2016 till date using aircraft, ISR platforms such as ATR-42, B-350 and CH-3 UAV, flown surveillance missions totaling over 346 hours consuming about 85,887 litres of Jet A-1 and 3,830 litres of Mogas costing N15,337,862:50 and $19,150:00 respectively.

“Therefore, whilst the specific position of the Chibok girls is not yet ascertained by the NAF, we have not folded our arms on the surveillance flights and will continue to use these flights to degrade the capacity of the terrorists and as soon as possible locate the position of the Chibok girls and other Nigerians that are under captivity.” The statement read.

In an outstanding achievement, a team of medical doctors based in the United States of America, USA, under the auspices of Global Eagle Foundation, has performed open heart surgeries on five patients at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Adazi Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The doctors were led by Dr Joe Nwiloh, an indigene of the state and the operation was carried out in partnership with the state government and the Catholic Diocese of Awka. The hospital’s Heart Centre is named after Dr. Nwiloh, who attracted the project and was supported by the Anambra State Government.

Out of the five patients that were operated upon, four were adults, while one was a child. They were all said to be with failing hearts. The state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Uju Nwogu said one of the patients was the first in the South East and South South zones of the country to undergo a coronary artery bypass surgery, adding that this was made possible by the sophisticated state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and mechanical support which the centre has for all heart-related ailments.

According to her, the Adazi Nnukwu hospital has become very popular in the area of heart surgery as many people go there for routine checks and consultations. She called on Nigerians to avail themselves of the great life-saving opportunity available in Anambra State to treat their heart diseases and be healthy.

Nwogu also called on philanthropic individuals and corporate organizations to contribute to the growth of the center by assisting in acquiring a cardiac catheterization laboratory to enable it complete its diagnostic capabilities.

The Federal Court of Appeal in Yola, today declared the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa as unconstitutional, null and void.

Adamawa House of Assembly had on July 16, 2014, impeached and removed Nyako for gross misconduct. In a unanimous judgment by the five justices of the Court of Appeal, the court said the impeachment was not done in accordance with the provisions of the law as the governor was not served the impeachment notice personally.

In the lead judgment read by Justice Tunde Ayotoye, the judges agreed that Nyako was not given fair hearing. The court ordered that Nyako be accorded all rights of the Office of the Governor of Adamawa through the period and paid all his entitlements as governor while it lasted.

The court, however, struck out the appeal by Nyako to be returned as governor of the state as his tenure as governor had elapsed.

In the ongoing feud between the Super Eagles coach and the NFF, The minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has waded in the feud and called on Nigerians to support Sunday Oliseh in the trying times the coach is facing at the moment. He was quizzed by members of the House Committee on Sports during a budget defense on Tuesday and answered questions regarding the feud between the coach and the NFF.

“We must appreciate the way Nigerians behave and their sentiments to sports especially football. Nigerians do not accept anything short of victory. The performance of the team that led to whatever we are hearing, from my own analysis, was due to overconfidence.''
'' In terms of preparations and planning, you could access them based on their first outing. Of course, they had some welfare challenges which we inherited when we came on board. We took steps to secure approval for funds but the process of the release of funds could not beat the time of the outing. That also contributed to their early exit”
The Barrister also admitted he had spoken to Oliseh to hear his own side in the ongoing feud and also called the NFF president Amaju Pinnick to be sure he hadn't sacked the coach. Barrister Dalung said that after he met with the NFF President earlier in the day he called for peace and support for the coach.

“The idea of losing matches and sacking coaches is over. We cannot be winning matches all the time. We must build wider spaces in our minds for failure and success because that is the only way we can develop. The fact that he lost a game is not enough for us to begin to look at history. You don’t run a country like that! The man should be allowed and supported to come back and prepare the team for the qualifying matches ahead. If he had health challenges while working for us, we shouldn’t abandon him at this time”.Dalung said.

Wike in a swift reply, reacted in a statement released yesterday February 9th. ‎

Dakuku Peterside and his party’s true reaction to the Supreme Court victory was given during the former’s visit of incitement against Rivers people and the peoples of the Niger Delta to Chief John Odigie Oyegun, the APC chairman. At that meeting in which Dakuku Peterside was inciting the president and the people of Nigeria against the peoples of the Niger Delta and the government and people of Rivers state, Chief John Odigie Oyegun. Chief Onyegun then proceeded to announce that the Supreme Court would be probed for doing their work simply because verdict was not given in favour of Dr. Dakuku Peterside. “Dr. Dakuku Peterside and his APC have not accepted the Supreme Court verdict and would do anything to destroy the Supreme Court and the integrity of its Justices for daring to uphold existing jurisprudence. The pathological liar Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside claimed that: as early as 9 am on Wednesday January 27, 2016 Wike Supporters were already in jubilation; there were comments in social media three weeks before the verdict on Wike’s victory; the respected Odilis’ were used to procure the verdict of the Supreme Court. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and director of Biafra radio, Nnamdi Kanu, was at the Federal High Court in Abuja today where hearing on the treasonable charges filed against him by the Federal government continued.

Though a mild drama ensued when he arrived the court premises and refused Prison officials to remove his handcuffs, insisting on having it on during court proceedings. It took the intervention of his ‎lead counsel, Chuks Muoma, to persuade him to allow the prison officers remove the handcuffs. The presiding judge, Justice John Tsoho in his ruling denied Mr Nnamdi Kalu's application for his International passports of the both British and Nigerian copies to be released to him.
