emmatok: So u don't know the difference BTW a WWAN and wireless LAN.

So in your mind IEEE license the running of ISP in Nigeria.

Is ask u is Oxygen an ISP or not.
To you oxygen is an ISP.

To me its an IT business providing wireless internet services to people in computer village. He has not done anything that qualifies him as an ISP (based on computer village's project)
Wait a minute. are u calling what he did in computer village WWAN ? huh huh
Science/TechnologyRe: Wande Adalemo - From University Dropout To ICT Millionaire by Skywalker5(m):
emmatok: Now it show u don't know anything about running an ISP or Telco.
You run an ISP without NCC licence - they shut u down.
You run on an unallocated frequency -NCC shut you down.
Any of your radios or microwaves transmit on an unallocated frequency- NCC takeover
.

Oxygen is an ISP .

Note: 2mps is not data capping. It is available bandwidth.

Data capping is when you don't have unlimited download.eg 300m per month.
i am not going to argue with you. seems you don't understand how it works ,yet you still bring out funny points bring out points that are irrelevant.what has NCC got to do with wireless LAN? Like i said before. ready more about wireless routers before writing rubbish

FYI IEEE is the organization in charge of Wireless frequency not NCC.oxygen does not produce these routers, they only install them. its got nothing to do with NCC. They ensure that all router produced by these manufacturers follows the guidelines.

In regards to you saying oxygen is an ISP company, i wont argue with you but just because he created a campus area network and people having access to it does not qualify for ISP.

What oxygen did in computer village is more like a cybercafe, only this time its wireless.

A campus area network (CAN) is a network of multiple interconnected local area networks (LAN) in a limited geographical area

okpara ugo: At 50k per stand, how does he recharge/charge the wireless radios?
Its wireless routers and repeaters kept all around. shopping centers do this, Universities do this stuff, companies implement this, eateries also. You can even share your broadband at home with your neighbors and allocate bandwidth to them.wireless routers is not common in Nigeria and for home use that why some people here are thinking $2million project is fine for just computer village.
Science/TechnologyRe: Wande Adalemo - From University Dropout To ICT Millionaire by Skywalker5(m):
emmatok: No mind them NL armchair analyst/engineer.
They way some $2m should give them national coverage.
When they dont even know about the NCC licensing and frequency allocation process.
Are you for real? so the guy went to NCC to get licensing and allocation. haaaa. Na wa ooooo..WTF. Are you that gullible? Maybe you need to read about wireless routers and frequencies before you start saying things you don't know. You think internet bandwidth is the same as mobile phone coverage?

So the guy collected frequency allocation from NCC? HMMM Okay oo. Did he also tell you that the 2MB/s was capped by NCC? undecided undecided undecided

2mb/s for a $2million investment where it is only operating on just a few street? huh huh huh

i am not saying he is not providing good services (2mb/s cool) but with that money, his customers should have better bandwidth, that's what i am saying and what he did in computer village is not something of $2million.

emmatok: LOL,

I don't need to tell you anything here,

But anybody who tells you the cost of a BTS is less than 2m Naira is a dunce.
Even the cost of collocation is more than that in some areas.
Stop saying what know nothing about.

Do a quick speed test and tell me which network will give you 1mps in Nigeria.
eeya, that's the problem. You believe 2MB/s is very fast. I dont have to explain anything to you. Google what is called campus area network. Maybe you will understand.i work in IT and i know how much it cost to set thing like this up.

emmatok: $2m for national coverage?
Guy $2m won't give you full Lagos coverage.
$2m is not up 400m Naira.
Have you done speedtest on the network yet.
I know what my company spent while building the South-East network alone.
Thats it. you only know what your company spent while building their network. You do not know the actual cost it involves? you dont even know the equipment that was bought. i am saying these thing because i know what it involves.

Here is a quote from Moregist

moregist: ]Here at the Computer village we do downloads at up to 2 megabits per second and that is the fastest you have on user-to-user basis here. We are offering Nigerians speed, affordable, convenience and reliable service.”

Chief Executive Officer, Oxygen, Wande Adalemo tells Technology Times that in Computer Village, “we have over 6,000 different unique users already. We hope that we will be able to get over 10,000 subscribers on our network and then move in to another market clusters that we have around Lagos.”

The Oxygen network is built to handle over a thousand devices and having 4 gigabits per second capacity through-put to offer coverage across the entire Computer Village market cluster.

He says the network is embedded with links that makes it easier for users to connect to the internet as well as the free mapping service that allows users to view locations on the web.

On the Oxygen data service plan, Adalemo explains that “you can decide to get something done in one hour, there is a one hour plan for you or get something done in the next one week, there is one week plan for you or I’m monthly users, I need to save money upfront for the whole month, there is a monthly plan for you.”

According to him, Oxygen offers N200 for the two-hour plan with 24 hours validity; N500 for seven-hour plan with validity of seven days; N1,250 for 25 hours with a validity of 10 days; N4,500 for 100 hours with 30-day validity and N10,000 for 24/7 access.

Oxygen is offering an unlimited download limit on all these plans, “which is another advantage for Nigerians”, he explains.

emmatok: When you hear a company is worth over 1bn. It is a forecast based on market.
Do you know how much is generated in computer village everyday.

20,000 clients is even small considering the population of computer village.
As for the $2m dollar investment you need to ask Zenith bank if it true.
But if you think $2m Will get you CAC reg,NCC license, main-One bandwidth, cell sites coverage and equipments, e.t.c.
Then are on a long thing.
$2m is not up to 400m Naira.
Go ask how much SPECTANET, SWIFT,MOBITEL invest on thier networks.

As I said earlier the registration is done on your WiFi device browser(phone, laptop e.t.c) and not in thier office.
Trust me, if 20,000 client are setting on a 4GB network at the same ,no one will browse anything. the max he can get at a go is around 2000 customers.

Thats why internet is slow in Nigeria. all these guys and companies will buy a specific amount of bandwidth and they start given it to everybody.imagine oxygen saying 2mb/s is the fastest. i mean really?
Science/TechnologyRe: Wande Adalemo - From University Dropout To ICT Millionaire by Skywalker5(m): 12:29pm On Sep 25, 2012
This guy did not use an investment of $2million to set this thing up,$100,000 is too much i can assure you that. I though it was a nationwide stuff he did. he only captured computer village at the moment. The guy bought a broadband network with high throughput and kept wireless routers around computer village and he is use a software to split and allocate bandwidth to customers that's why he said 2mb/s is fastest.

.
Since he has 2000 customers at 2MB/s, the 4GB/S capacity is already maxed up. If this company is worth 1 billion as it is being reported, the guy should invest in higher capacity. 2MB/S is slow

Dont you think that they are trying to impose sharia law? Do you think this is too far or its acceptable?

Now you said peaceful protest? Most Muslims in different countries were protesting by the video done in the US. Dont you feel countries like France, Australia,UK that are nothing to do with this are Victims? i mean people were protesting in these countries, disturbing business activities of these countries. Do you think that is fair?

Now you said these violent protest is not part of the teaching of Islam. why is it that it has always been used anytime something negative is said about islam?
IslamYour View On Islamic Laws Being Imposed To Non Islamic Countries by Skywalker5(op): 4:58pm On Sep 20, 2012
Hello Guys

I am not a Muslim and i got a reply from one of the moderators(maclatunji)to move this topic here.

i am just wondering what view most Muslims hold to this

Muslim migrate to other countries and they try to bring in sharia laws and convert the country to Islam. Is it bad for Muslims, Christians and atheist to co-exist? Countries like UK,USA,Australia are non-Muslims countries (i wont say christian) but they accept everyone. I mean Christian and atheist cant go to Iraq, Saudi Arabia or other Arab countries to try and convert them from their religion.

Also, there are strict laws in Arab countries like what you drink and clothes you wear. Why is it so hard to follow the laws of the countries they migrate to? I have heard of different view when Muslims says they are not governed by the laws of the country they migrate to? if that is so, why should i be governed by the law in Arab countries if i visit?

Also with all the recent problem happening where someone insulted islam and there was violence in almost every country where Muslims are. How do true Muslims see this? I mean Jesus has been talked about with negative press (davici code, recent publication that Jesus was married), you don't find Christians starting a rally talk less of protesting but once anything bad is said about Islam, there is a problem. Any reason for these? I know it hurts must it go that far?

Now i have a feeling the rest of the world will continue to take a piss at Muslims because they now know that any thing said about Islam or Muhammad, they will react, Now who do you think is winning? is it Islam or the people who are taking a piss?

i really want to hear your views on this

CrimeNigerian Benefit Fraudster Owned £1million Mansion In Nigeria by Skywalker5(op):
A minicab driver who claimed he was earning just £700 a month but was living a luxury of life in his Nigerian mansion, has been ordered to pay almost £1.2million.

Ovo Mayomi and his wife Juliet Ubiribo were convicted of fraud in 2010 after using an identity and immigration scam to falsely claim £43,000 in benefits.

Mayomi, 44, claimed he was earning £700 a month and was living in Croydon, south London, while his wife, 32, claimed benefits after telling benefit bosses she was a single mother and a victim of domestic violence.
Ovo Mayomi
Juliet Ubiribo

Fraud: Ovo Mayomi, 44,, claimed he was earning £700 a month and living in Croydon, south London. His wife Juliet Ubiribo, 32, told benefit bosses she was a single mother and a victim of domestic violence

But fraud investigators found Mayomi and his wife were actually living in a large luxurious house in Lekki near the Nigerian capital Lagos worth more than £1million complete with chandeliers and £89,000 worth of sound equipment. He also had a £25,000 watch. His wife wore a Rolex watch and drove a Mercedes Sport Coupi.

Now a judge has ordered Mayomi to pay £1,197,743.54 in a confiscation order under the Proceeds Of Crime Act, or go to prison for six years.

As well as two money-transferring businesses and bank accounts, investigators also discovered Mayomi owned a fish farm in the country.

The couple's benefit scam unravelled when a visa application by Mayomi showed they had married a year earlier and that Ubiribo had a job in order to support him.

Wealth: Fraud investigators found Mayomi owned a large luxurious house (pictured) in Lekki, near the Nigerian capital Lagos worth more than £1million complete with chandeliers and £89,000 worth of sound equipment

Ubiribo also asked the council to rehouse her because she was the victim of domestic violence.

However, the telephone number she gave revealed the man she named as her landlord - Ayiomike Neburagho - was, in fact, her husband Mayomi using a false identity.

At a police interview, Mayomi admitted that while living in Nigeria he had bought the identity of Ayiomike Matthew Neburagho and had entered the UK as him.

Mayomi was also shown a wedding photograph of himself, using the Neburagho identity, marrying a Nigerian woman in the UK.

He admitted he was the groom in the wedding photo but he said he was 'just standing in for someone'.

Ubiribo and Mayomi pleaded guilty to all charges.

Mayomi was jailed for 30 months two years ago and his wife was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.

She was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service and be under curfew for four months from 9pm to 6am.

Court orders were signed freezing their assets in the UK and abroad in 2010, and an investigation was launched to find out how much the Nigerian-born couple had gained from their criminal lifestyle and what the extent of their assets was.

Mayomi, of Ashburton, disputed the results of the assets investigation, and a subsequent four-day confiscation hearing took place at Croydon Crown Court.
Nigerian mansion

Scam: Ubiribo stated she was a single parent to claim housing and council tax benefits to help her pay £900 in rent each month. A visa application by her husband showed Ubiribo had a job in order to support him

On Friday, Judge Nicholas Ainley ruled that Mayomi must pay £1,197,743.54 by 14 March next year. It is one of the largest confiscation orders carried out by a council.

Failure to do so will see him sent to prison for six years, during which time interest will accumulate on his debt, which will remain due following his release.

At a hearing in July, a confiscation order was made against Ubiribo for £9,357.42 to be paid by 19 October or face five months in prison.

Investigators had discovered she was the owner of a Rolex watch and a Mercedes Sport Coupi.
'This is a landmark case for Croydon as it is the first time the council’s in-house financial investigator has pursued a major confiscation order of this nature.'
Croydon councillor Dudley Mead

Councillor Dudley Mead, deputy leader of the council, said: 'This is a landmark case for Croydon as it is the first time the council’s in-house financial investigator has pursued a major confiscation order of this nature.

'Usually these cases are dealt with by the police rather than local authorities. It is rare for councils to have their own in-house investigator, so it is to the anti-fraud team’s immense credit that it is pioneering the way forward in reclaiming the proceeds of crime.

'As a result of our investigator’s fine work, the council expects to be able to claw back as much as £400,000 in taxpayers’ money.

'This case should serve as a clear warning that crime does not pay. Croydon Council will always prosecute in fraud cases and seek to recover money or assets wherever they are.

'This is to protect decent taxpayers from having to pay more.'
