lol, oya no vex.

Maybe you should relax a bit, check ieltsliz.com for listening tips and then resume practice

You should find it easier.

Do not give up!

Thank you so much, I'll do that

Oya sorry now.

Don't worry about the difficulty level, having done 40 practice tests, I am sure you will kill it. I did only two (covers face) and got 8.5.

Having written many exams in my life, I can tell you this for free.....there is something that ample practice brings, it is confidence, just remain calm on the exam and know that if you are calm, you will definitely kill it. Just keep practicing.

Thank you so much I feel so much berra. But only 2 practice tests?? Wow

Try and start using the Cambridge/ESOL materials. Find a quiet place and practice. I usually advice peeps to attempt all the sections at a stretch (and not to practice them in isolation) - LWRS....just so you can simulate exam conditions and build strength for the real thing. Do not worry about the scores, they will improve over time and after much practice.
One trick is to look through the questions well, if possible get a grip on a couple of questions at a time so you can listen in for the answers.

Hello All,

I just need to vent for a second. I am preparing for IELTS in January and I am finding listening practice test rather challenging. I have done over 40 tests on YouTube. My issue is that I don't even know which ones are real because when I do the ones posted by some channels I rarely get higher than 34, they are wickedly difficult but when I do the ones by some other channels I always get 39 or 40 and I feel they are too easy. It's confusing, how do I know which ones are real? They all have similar patterns and voice recordings.
I really need to improve my listening. My husband that I am the one that tells him what they say in Oyinbo films(he doesn't hear their accent) is even getting higher scores in d practice tests. Any tips Pls helep.

It is completely doable.

If they break up because of long distance due to job or work, then they are not really meant to be together.
If you work in field Engineering, business development or other field roles, and your wife works say in finance or an in-town role...your marriage would be tested in Canada.

Canada is a small country (economically) when compared to other advanced countries; hence markets and jobs are widespread. It's not uncommon to see husbands living their wifes to work in another province...like the newfies (Newfoundlanders) all over Alberta).

Funny enough, Nigerian marriages that I see hitting the rocks are the ones where the husband and wife live in the same city or province. I have seen two of such already in a space of two years.

Exactly, that a couple lives together is not a guarantee that the marriage will last. Some even function better with some distance, as they say absence makes the heart fonder...

Are you the one in the marriage or is that your prayer for them? How can you state something so negative so categorically?

People make sacrifices for their families, especially their children on a daily basis and it is simply the business of the couple who have decided this is the personal sacrifice they will put in for their children. You do not know the foundation of their marriage and have no clue what they are about so to state categorically that their marriage will inevitably dissolve or to wish them such ill is just wicked and nasty.

You're right,i have a friend she moved to Ontario when she was pregnant with her first son over 5 years ago. Her husband is a bank manager here and is not ready to make the move, they are going on very strong and she just had her second baby recently. Even though a long distance marriage is hard, it is absolutely doable and I pray God continues to give them the wisdom and strength to carry on.

Right now am not doing bad at all in terms of finance and thats why i have money to make this journey. What am worried about is the future, if my job ends in naija today to get another may be tough, gratuity, pension ,exposure in my field, better pay package, skill sets, health, and the likes thats what drives me. But when i hear when u get down to canada u are not likely to get a job, then when you get a job i leart u are not likely to be able to save up to $600 then am like whats so rosy over there if u cant get more box. Then i hear 90% of ur income is spent on bills. Then am like what of the projects i intend to do. Its tough to leave a known world to an unknown world. I earn above 200k in naija o

Hello, this was my husband's fear till we had a proper talk recently. He used to be of the opinion that people abroad have no savings, but recently we had an eye opener. Honestly speaking what do we save for here in Naija? We save for rent, children's school fees,to buy a car, to buy land,to build houses etc so at the end of the day the so called savings is not for us. Meanwhile over there in developed countries rather than keeping money in your account and feeling rich intermittently, you use most of the money as-you-go,so they are paying mortgage -they already have the house, they have monthly car payments-they are already driving the cars, they pay student loans-they already have the degree etc so it all depends on your perspective, do you want the good things now and pay later? Or do you want to save save and save then enjoy those things later(of which not all money saved for a particular project is used for it)

PS: 200k will only make sense till u start having children. All the best.

You must be kidding! You just have to be kidding. Has it become so bad that people do not know how to register for an examination? Something as basic as this. Very soon, someone will come here to ask what the full meaning of IELTS is.

Please what's the full meaning of IELTS

You made me laugh with the last line of your response. You are very nice and oh so polite.

mcstan18:

Class of degree has ZERO impact in what happens here.
With less than one year work experience, your scores would likely hover around the 390-410 points(depending on the outcome of your IELTS of course). That's not too good, except you'd like to opt for the PNP since you are still young enough, in case there's any significant delay. For most provinces, to be eligible, you still need a score of 400 and above.

Please which school did you graduate from again? I'm just being curious.

Welcome back optionese. We missed u

I will advise you to get a Nigerian passport, that's what my neighbors did for their daughter and they have gotten PPR and COPR. They did it for uniformity so that the whole family will have the same documents. I think I read it somewhere that they won't put a PR visa on an American passport. You can research further.

She might be able to swing through via PNP, provided she is ready to do the work and find out which provinces she qualifies for their programmes. This link contains a sub link to all the provinces websites. Let her go through each one, narrow down those ones for which she meets their application requirements, put the requirements in place and monitor them for when they will open to accept applications, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-who.asp

Good evening everyone,

A friend of mine just checked her IELTS scores, she had 7.5,7,7,7 and this is her second attempt. She doesn't want to retake the test as she feels like she put in her absolute best for this exam.

She wants to know if she can get PNP with her 388 score? If yes which province should she go for? Kindly advise. Thank you
