I just don't understand this country and how the elites reason, there're people against this and also offering advice of things to do other than sell off assets but instead of bringing them close and put them to work Buhari will form deaf and dumb like he isn't hearing their shouts. All he hears are the evil men calling for the sale of National assets. This administration hasn't even thought of reducing cost of governance, diversify the economy(what ever happened to the large deposit of nickel?) Don't reason from your anus pls. Selling is not for selling sake. You sell, use the proceeds to recover, break even and possibly get even more assets where applicable. Let's reason like we have a brain. |

sanky346: THE Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila (APC, Lagos) has offered himself for investigation by security and anti-corruption agencies over alleged padding of the 2016 budget.
Former Chair of Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin (APC, Kano) had alleged Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun, Whip Alhassan Doguwa and Minority Leader Leo Ogor of illegally padding the budget with about N40b. Jibrin also accused nine Committee Chairmen of inserting 2000 fictitious projects amounting to N284b into the budget. Gbajabiamila, in a statement yesterday however noted that though his name was not mentioned by Jibrin of padding the budget since the controversy began, there was a need for him to clear his name.
The Majority Leader, who contested the Speakership position with Dogara also affirmed the innocence of the entire body of Principal officers of the House on the budget padding scandal. He said: “I returned from the United States just yesterday after a three week break I called the Speaker a day before my return to urgently fix a Principal Officers meeting so we could address the several allegations made by Hon Jibrin.
“At the meeting Speaker Dogara, Deputy Speaker Lasun , Chief Whip, Hon Ado Dogwa and Minority Leader, Hon Leo Ogor passionately and vigorously clearly stated their innocence. “A prepared text was read and we all agreed to sign. For me as the Leader of the House I felt it was important to give them the benefit of doubt which in any case is what our constitution says.
“The decision to relieve Hon Jibrin was indeed a collective decision of which I was a part of. “However I gave a caveat before the press release was signed, I made it clear to my colleagues in the leadership that because somehow my name had been sullied in all of this and fake documents and publications had been put out there in traditional and social media which stated I was also involved in the so called padding of the budget, that I would need to clear my name and that even though no petition was filed against me by Hon Jibrin and no invitation was extended to me by the police, I would be submitting myself on my own volition to the police for investigation.
“This is important to me as insinuations have been made from many quarters that I along with others were sponsoring Hon Jibrin. I have just this afternoon met with the police authorities for a proper and thorough investigation of my role if any in this whole bizzare episode.

Hello fellow Nairalanders, I need your help with this church in the building I just rented for two years. It is a Redeemed Christian Church of God. I didn't know there was a church just next flat when I found, negotiated and paid for this apartment.
I just entered the house now (almost 7pm) and as I type, they are holding this weekly function and playing their band so loud the sofa I'm on is vibrating. They have this programme too they hold midnight till well into the wee hours of the morning. I was woken by this at around 3am one day and they were playing the live band. Isn't that rather callous and unchristian. Right I side am apartment building.
Please how can I take them up with the authorities for such loud noise. We are going insane here with the whole loud sound and vibration of the whole apartment. |

Politics › We Lose Twice The Amount We Spent On Niger Delta Amnesty In 3yrs In 30days Today by sleemfesh(op): 7:42pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
How much did the Niger Delta amnesty programme cost in a year? 2013 the amnesty programme gulped N66.28 billion. It gulped N66.17 billion in 2012 and N63.28billion in 2014. (Total app. N195.8 billion or USD567.5m in 3 years).
Now how much have we lost in just six months thanks to the wise Federal government?
NNPC, on Friday, May 27, announced that Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production has fallen almost 50% from the start of the year to around 1.1 million b/d. If a barrel is USD45, we will be losing (45*1.1million) USD49.5m daily or USD1. 4billion monthly. So we lose, in 30days, TWICE what we used to maintenance the order, safety and peace in the Niger Delta for 3 whole years!

Politics › Nigerian Govt Saved N10bn On Fuel Subsidy Since Feb, Citizens Spent N345bn more by sleemfesh(op): 1:41pm On May 11, 2016 |
Just came across this by a friend on Facebook:
"WHY IBE KACHIKWU SHOULD SHUT UP!
I don't really know how to appraise this man to be honest. He appears intelligent but he looks morally depraved and a unrepentant liar. Why does this guy go about distorting facts and peddling falsehood about fuel subsidy? Who is fooling who here? he goes about saying that they saved N10 billion from fuel subsidy since February, and so what? How much did Nigerian pay as a result? How many hours of economic importance did we waste in petrol stations as a result?
Ok let's do a bit of maths:
Nigeria uses average of 35 million litres of petrol per day. The former official pump price is N87 per litre. For more than three months petrol was bought at average of N200 per litre.
And this man claimed he saved N10 billion Naira on subsidy. Let's check: 200-87 = 113. So Nigerians paid N113 more on each litre. When you times N113 by 35 million litres per day you: 35,000,000 litres X N113 = N3,955,000,000. (N3.9billion). So every day we over paid N3.9 billion on petrol. Multiply N3.9 billion by 30 days or one month, it will give you N116.6 billion over paid by Nigerians in a month. Multiply it by 3 months it will be N355.950 billion. So who is fooling who? Where did this money go to? Into the pockets of the same marketers you claim to have saved N10billion from.
So why not then pay them complete subsidy with the N10 billion and save us the time we spent in petrol stations and save us N345 billion? The money lost is already more than the one paid on subsidy when crude oil was 140 dollars a barrel.
This man should just shut up."
I totally agree with him. |

olapluto: I read the report too. It was not only rude to Buhari, but very very rude to Nigeria as a whole. As soon as I finished reading the article, I had to google all UK aids we receive. I wonder where the aids were going and which Nigerians were benefitting. If I had my way, I would stop all AIDS coming from UK. We support UK economy in many many ways. Take out Nigerian students and see how UK tertiary education suffers. We are partly funding our own collective insults. The article was also quoting some PDP sponsored websites to discredit Buhari. I dont know which university in UK that charges 26000 GBP per year. I studied there, and except Medicine, no other course is charging near 20,000 GBP. None of Buhari's children is known to read Medicine. Sure? Lying under the guise of patriotism. "According to recent figures, the average cost per year to study in the UK at undergraduate level as an international student is UK£11,987 (~US$17,860), while for international postgraduate students this average fee rises to £12,390" That's tuition. However, are you going to live under the bridge and eat sand for a year? "According to recent figures from the UK’s National Union of Students (NUS), the average annual cost of living in England (outside of London) for students in UK£12,056 (US$19,490). This includes £4,989 ($7,460) for rent, £1,954 ($2,920) for food, £363 ($540) for household goods, £42 ($62) for insurance, £1,917 ($2,860) for personal items, £1,705 ($2,550) for travel and £1,190 ($1,780) for leisure." more here: http://www.topuniversities.com/student-info/student-finance/how-much-does-it-cost-study-ukThere's truth in what the UK Daily Mail is saying whether u like them or not. |

How can you call it sabotage when it was unrealistic from the begining? BeeBeeOoh: By Sebastine Obasi
Depot owners appear to have jettisoned the pricing template of Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, thereby sabotaging efforts of Federal Government to end the lingering fuel crisis. Vanguard learned that depot owners, especially those used by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, for throughput arrangement, jettisoned the current PPPRA pricing template for petroleum products released on April 1, and, instead, have been using the pricing template for the first quarter of the year.
For example, the present PPPRA pricing template for ex-depot collection price is N76. However, no marketer gets the product at that price, as they pay up to N120 per litre, apart from the thousands of Naira given, underhand, to security agents to facilitate the entry of their trucks.
Consequently, marketers add up these costs which are passed on to motorists, who buy the product between N150 and N200, as against the official price of N86.50k. According to the President, National Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, Mr. Kassim Bitaya, the current fuel scarcity ravaging the various parts of the country was caused by PPPRA.
He said: “I expected that PPPRA should have called a stakeholders’ meeting like they did in the past before rolling out pricing templates. Rather, what we discovered was that they just rolled out the template without carrying the stakeholders along.”
He explained that the pricing template was calculated based on the official exchange rate of N197, adding that no marketer had access to foreign exchange to bring in products at that rate, a development that resulted in many marketers jettisoning the idea of importation.
“The pricing template, as presently designed, is faulty because some components ought not to be there in the first place, while some need to be reviewed either downward or upward,” he added. Meanwhile, the President of the Nigeria Association for Energy Economics, NAEE, Professor Wumi Iledare, said the Federal Government made a mistake setting the price of petrol at N86.50k per litre, saying deregulation is the best solution to the lingering fuel scarcity.
