@A-40 that was way back in Oct 2010, even though I remember reading Arsene Wenger saying at the start of the season, he needs to tie him down to a new contract cos at his age he is going to show rapid development.

www.totalfootballmadness.com/2010/, /arsenal-ready-to-reward-samir-nasri-with-new-contract/

Abeg I'm #team Murray jare, let the bloodey britico win at least one grand-slam, give hope to the red and white, we shall overcome cheesy cheesy cheesy

And more importantly let him give their moomoo media something to focus on for the next one week. How a britico is the bestest racquet Player in the whole world. grin

A-40:
You are still not addressing the issue! I said marquee players would go and unproven or untested players would be signed at best. Nasri may not be world-class but compared to Wenger's next signing he would be. If you are game then lets rumble!! Scared money dont make none

Hmm so everything is now okay because we are going to Asia? You must be having a laugh! The system of constantly losing your better talents and having to restart almost every season for the past five

You do realize Nasri holds the ace and if he doesnt agree to a new deal we would have another Flamini situation? All he has to do is manage the pay and get a free transfer and get a forklift of dough at the end of next season

Anyways where im standing now is where you would probably be in two months time. Like ive said previously Arsenal fans are always in different time-zones mentally! You will get there we've seen it before
A-40 if you wanna play that game: Nasri is going Gervinho is coming grin. Abeg satellite reception is still clear grin.

Seriously though, no one can blame AW for this Nasri situation. Nasri was presented with a contract extension last summer, that is 2 years into a 4year deal. When he had not even started 'jamming'. He stalled, played great until new year and started playing Houdini with negotiations.

I still expect him to sign a new deal though contrary to popular opinion. Thatrs cause I expect we will add a little something something untop the 90k he is being offered.

However it should be said, he has put himself in the Adebayor situation. God help him if his or even our collective form is anything like the latter half of last season.

proudly9ja:
Its not really about the replacements (though that matters too), its more about breaking the core of the team just when we all think ", just one more season, "

It took Nasri two seasons to get to where he is now and we are having this issue with him just when the Nasri/Cesc/RVP combo was jelling. Same way we sold Flamini and Hleb just when the Cesc/Hleb and Flamini como was jelling.

Same way we sold Kolo one season and had Gallas/TV5 next season only to sell Gallas the following season and then watch Kos and Djorou.

Fans have every reason to be hyper at this stage. Like buntu said, its business as usual. We are only hoping we will deviate from the norm this time around
Yes indeed the teams kept getting reshuffled, but we did not sell Flamini. What Flamini did was almost as bad as what AsholeCole did. He kept on saying he'd sign.

Well Hleb wanted loads of ice-cream, Rob the chef forbade it. Wht could we do? grin

Seriously though, this is why I maintain Cesc must not under any circumstances be sold. Enough of the reshuffling.

A point to note though, asides Kolo, seems every other person who agitated for a move was about money? This needs to be sorted out asap, cos it will continue to happen.

@A-40

What is going on at Arsenal at present is beyond Arsene, it is even in a lot of instances beyond even the board in my opinion, at the end of the day reality is what it is, we are where we are cos the club chose to stand for certain things, if we have to suffer awhile for that so be it. The rumor is that City are offering Nasri 180k (and you know they can offer him that if they can afford to give Yaya Toure 250k), where exactly is Arsenal supposed to get that from when our highest earner is on 120k and we flogged Ade off ASAP once he went above 100k? and do you honestly think Ramsey and Wilshere's agent won't come knocking on Arsene's door for increases in their wages if we even go as high as 150k just to please him? undecided

I also wouldn't mourn Clichy, he has been the weakest link in our defence for the past 3 seasons like Ifedisky said and something tells me even the club want him gone. Cesc's situation is a complex one further complicated by Barcelona's behaviour so I wont even go there, the boy has tried enough and leaves with my blessings if he goes, no one can say he hasnt respected the club enough. The only person I'll be really sad (and angry with him) at his leaving is Nasri but 20m could ease that a bit if invested wisely.

Its the combined effect of 2 players (who have been massively influential to the team over the past 2 seasons) leaving at the same time that gets to me, that is definitely not the way to progress particularly if yu're selling arguably your best player in the season to direct competition like City, even psychologically speaking how would people like Wishere feel taking to the pitch next season against city and lining up against Nasri who they all know was the best player this season? wouldn't the game be lost even before the ref blows?  undecided

As things stand Arsene will have to find even more strength because he is the only one giving the whole structure at Arsenal a semblance of progression. In the same time that we are now about losing what you cld call the 2nd generation of players since we last won a trophy, Scholes is just retiring and Giggs will still play one more year, where the hell is the stability to build a platform to win trophies?  undecided
Not to take anything away from Nasri's wonderful, sometimes game-wining performances, but Sagna and Wilshere said to tell you, you are lying grin. . . .these we're our most consistent players this season, and I mean consistently good (apologies Debo grin).

That said I'd presume we have to accept some of this hysteria will be curtailed if once in a while, positive official statements come from the club.

Its quite astonishing that fans won't regard the signing of Gervinho until they see in on the ofifcial website, but will accept hook-line-and the what nots and subsequently go on twitter to rain insults on player, manager and everybody because our player are linked-with other clubs. Like Eminem said. . . .'its a sick world we live in these days' undecided

At this point let me just plug in, for me as a person, fans are gradually killing the Arsenal experience for me. Every-bloody-where waaaahn waaahhhn waaahhhn woe is me, woe is me. And no its not the trophies thing. It's the absolute lack of perspective required in supporting a football club. If you cant enjoy the bloody ride, please get off and let the rest of us be. This is not directed at anybody oh, before ni99as start catching feelings like Fabianski on a backpass grin.

Rant over. Dem still never announce Sattelite-Dish opon? grin

Krayola please can we continue this argument when Barca and Real agree to share TV money with the rest of the Spanish league? Lets see whether you will add 40million + Eto'o to waste on Ibrahimovic without thinking grin.

You talk as if that monetary advantage is limited to Spanish transactions only. It also means Madrid and Barca can go for the best players in Europe to compliment their team and even sometimes to even raise the standard of the team.

Dont you think it is even funny you are comparing top 2 against top 4? Your arguiments falls flat if you compare top 4 against top 4. The Spanish league is way lopsided and it has carried on into Europe. You wanna speculate as to how much of a force a team like ManU will be if it shared 75% of premiership largesse with say Chelsea?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by slimshay(m): 7:29am On Jun 29, 2011
Krayola do not mention money and Spain, you will totally defeat your own argument.

@Docky wia u dey since alagba?! But Nasri better than Cesc tho? Egbon commot emotion for the matter nah.

Which brings me to a thought I had, we are pissed nobody has serious interest in our fringe players, on the same hand we are pissed some people are sheeting themselves over our player.

Thank God for small mercies. What if he was on the open market and not a Catalan.

But £10million, did Mike Ashley win the lottery again? grin But then again for this crazy transfer window wey no get curtain or mosquito net so?. £20million or no dice angry grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by slimshay(m): 2:21pm On Jun 28, 2011
@Debosky you talk as if resolution means sell. Last season's resolution meant releasing a strongly worded statement to re 'WE ARE NOT SELLING' and that was in the worst storm the whole thing had ever caused. After that it was all grumblings from spain, Barca didnt even bother with another bid.

Yet all throught the season we had people talking about Arsenal will sell for the right price. On the contrary Arsenal needs its best players not a constant cycle of rejigging and refitting.

There will always be a player being strongly linked to another club every season every window, is that disruption in itself? Disruption is this whole blogosphere frenzy championed by the phrase 'he will go for the right price'. Yet until yesterday not once had it ever come out of the club, nor the manager, nor the player nor anyone that remotely mattered that that was the case. And still it had to come from the ubiquitous yet mystical 'highly placed source'.

Wait until we have a semblance of a slump and watch them have a go at management, board and everybody not named David Dein grin for putting profit before on-field success. Or in simple terms for always selling our best players without adequate replacement. Question for the serious minded though is, how do you replace the most productive player in Europe for the past 5 seasons?

Whether it is the club or the fans: MY OPINION REMAINS THAT WE KEEP CESC FABREGAS NOT EVEN IF THEY MEET HIS VALUATION! I cant yet think of one reason why we shouldnt.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by slimshay(m): 12:16pm On Jun 28, 2011
I had a back and forth with Arseblog on twitter yesterday. Seems all the top bloggers know something we dont. He kept on saying it is very likely he goes. Infact that the deal was being prepared.

Just like last year when everyone was on this case. I still stand by the last thing Arsenal has said, which is, we do not wish to sell our captain at this moment. All this news of top Arsenal official saying something else is a bit of a bother though.

It will be indeed foolish to sell someone of Cesc's quality at a time popular opinion says we are lacking in quality to mount a serious challenge on all fronts. That said I want to lay a big blame at the table of most Arsenal bloggers who keep parroting the fact that Barca should payup and we will let Cesc go. Because in actual fact it is contrary to what the club, the manager and the player have said. If for nothing at all, it helps in devaluing the player. An added reason why Torres was so expensive was that even though he was thorougly underperforming, he was percieved to be indispensable.

At this point, abeg make person pass me beach chair, I want to siddon and look, Bola Ige style.

Ninja STFU!!!

My friend, listen to me when I tell you about defenders. I was the one who schooled you on how wack Squillaci was when you touted him as a "France International and good addition". cheesy

I told you Koscielny was wack, and I told you that Kolo Toure was a house ninja.

Defence is my game, so leave that to me.

Bolton conceded 67 goals in 2009/2010. 56 goals in 2010/2011.

Villa conceded 48 goals in 2008/2009 (with Cuellar and Laurse at CB), 39 goals in 2009/2010 (with Cuellar at RB) and 59 goals last season which was a stop-start season.

By every defensive measure, Cuellar has performed.

His versatility at playing right-back is to be lauded, and he even looks like a centre back when playing there. He only lost his place as a right-back to that Tottenham boy (who is a better right-back).

Cuellar has never made an error in the Prem, he is always on point.

I never said Cahill is poor, but his defence always concedes. Him and Jagielka fall into the same category. Put a strong fast ninja on him and he will open like the red sea.

I specialise in spotting quality when their price is low for one reason or the other.

I said on Chelsea fan thread that we should swap Terry for Kompany when Citeh came calling. At that time, Kompany was playing as an ineffective defensive midfielder, but I already knew he is one of the best defenders in the World from his time at Anderlecht, albeit his status was depressed due to playing DM at Hamburg at Citeh.

Im an expert at defensive issues. Dont challenge me boy. cool

Cuellar is exactly the kind of player Arsenal need. Strong enough, fast enough, with a good mentality. Cahill is not poor, but based on relative value, Cuellar is a vastly superior option right now.

FYI, Cahill kept only 4 clean sheets last season
. I dont know where you got 3 clean sheets in a row from. Check FPL. He did not even keep two clean sheets in a row. NEVER!

Put some strong fast negros on Cahill and he'll wilt. Shebi you remember Stoke vs Bolton semi-final? grin

Finally, please tell me which Bolton defenders you had in your FPL team. Abi you want carry last? cheesy
I think you'll find this had more to do with Richard Dunne's ninjary grin that season than Cuellar.

debosky:
In my view, the best possible move by the billionaires would be to attack our non-performing commercial deals:

1. Cancel the Emirates shirt sponsorship - take the financial hit and re-sign a better deal. If Liverpool is getting £20m per year for their shirt, we should be able to get at least that amount.

2. Cancel the deal with Nike and renegotiate a better kit deal - I hear they pay Utd far more than they pay for Arsenal, because of the deals we signed to get the stadium completed.

3. Cancel any other deal made for upfront funding for the stadium that is paying less than market value and sign a new deal with bigger sponsors

If we pay the cost upfront of cancelling those deals, convert that cost into shares and then let the club generate its own income from improved deals, then that is a more sustainable way to intervene.

That way we continue to spend from what we make, only using the billionaires to correct the poor deals made a while back.

Chelski did it when they cancelled their previous shirt sponsorship and signed with Samsung.
With the clear divide in the boardroom, no way this is happening anytime soon. Either one can gobble them up using fronts.
