Ashigolo: I thank the Almighty God who made everything possible for me. I thank every member of this thread who have been there for me right from the early stage of the application process.

I slept in a friend's room (@doctoroma) at henry carr hostel, unilag postgraduate school, woke up at 3:15 and join a cab at unilag gate at exactly 4:25. I got to the embassy too early (4:45) and had to wait at the gate b4 it was finally opened at 5:15. At 6:00am, we were checked in, documents were checked and we finally landed in the consulate building where I got the number A003. My number flashed at counter 14, did the biometrics, primary documents were collected and I was asked to wait for my number to flash again. We waited for like 15 minutes b4 the VOs came around and the main interview started. Several applicants were interviewd b4 me, some accepted and some denied, I was so nervous but I kept my cool. Finally my number (A003) flashed at window 6 and I moved straight to the VO, a male in his early or late 40s I think. The interview lasted for like 1mins, this is how it went down

Me: Good morning sir, hw was your night
VO: fine thank you, how are you today
VO: you are Ashimi ...
me: yes sir
vo: I can see you are going for a master's degree in mathematics
me: yes sir
vo: do you write SAT (i quickly corrected him that its gre)
me: yes sir
vo: can i see your score card
me: i quickly gave him, he checked and returned
vo: what is your last degree and from which sch
me: mathematics from lagos state university (LASU)
vo: can i see your certificate
me: I gave it to him, he checked for some seconds and confirmd
the authenticity
vo: I can see you have an assitanship, in what form
me: its a teaching assistanship sir
vo: what will you do with your MS degree
me: I will come back to Nigeria to become a researcher and a college professor in computational mathematics.
vo: so who will pay for the rest
me: my dad
vo: what does he so
me: he is an aviation consultant for airlines and nigeria airforce
vo: your visa has been approved, pick it up at dhl V.I

it was simply God's favour, only gre and my BSc certificate were checked. No questions like why are u goin 2 US, hw many schs did u apply to, he didnt even ask me the name of the sch. I only made sure i maintaind eye contact with the VO all through th process I spoke confidently. All the same, it was God.

Thank you so much once again and to those that are yet to go for their interview, I wish u all success.

Sorry about the errors, I'm stucked in trafic along badagry express road, so I used my phone to type.
Cheers!

Congrats to all guys coming over this spring! It's being a while I came on here. And a note of reminder, your first few classes here will make you feel like you've never being through the four walls of a school in Naija(especially for grad students). I mean you could be completely clueless, but it's fine. After your first exam you will adjust...big shout out to @BigFrancis, that guy is the HNIC(head nigga in charge), when it comes to the matter of interview prep. Lastly, in case there anybody coming towards North East(New Jersey, NewYork especially) feel free to inbox me.

effulgence: Thanks, but wakanow doesn't list emirates rather they display royal air morocco which iv learnt on this forum that their service is poor.
Well if you are looking at service, you can try Virgin Atlantic or Lufthansa it's just abt 500k only. But, as e be say na cheap flight you they look 4 u berra book wat u have on wakanow. Cos dt same Air Maroc, if u don't book now, u might still have to pay 300k for dt same flight.DDDD!!

Ricky Rozay:

You will need to visit the nearest post office close to ur home and ask if ur i-20 package has been delivered because NIPOST receive this document from the US at an early date here in Nigeria but dey will use like 2 to 3 weeks to dispatch it to various homes....

So get moving now.... If it has reached 2 or 3 weeks since your sister sent your package from US to you through Nipost, then I suggest you will have to head to their office near your home to check if has been received..

It should be there... Cheers..
The guy should forget about NIPOST and use other courier services, my I-20 has been sent since April 5th, till tomorrow, av not seen it. I went to the post office in my area everyday for 1 month before giving up. Funny, enough they delivered all the denial letters from other schools I chose smiley Lesson of story, NIPOST knws hw to disappoint just when it matters most. I thank God I nw have my visa tho.

zynnnie: Got my visa approved today. I couldn't sleep last night and I got to the embassy by 6.30am and the whole security check was annoying. The chair movement was exhausting. After the thump prints I was chilling and saw them bounce a lot of pple esp conference attenders. the Asian guy was OK but will drill u, window 2 was a smiling dragon. Smiling and bouncing ur arse. My interview went like this . I was interviewed by the black woman.

I was only Seeing her mouth move and the confident spirit over took mi I said. Sorry madam I can't hear u
VO: apologising and increasing the mic.

VO: when did you graduate
ME: 2009, studied law in Madonna university

VO: ohh lawyer, so what have you been doing since then
ME: I went to NYSC and served in XYZ oil coy in Lagos, then proceeded to law school in Lagos in 2011, then got a job as an associate in law firm and praticed for one year, then left for xyz bank in 2012...

VO: hmmmmm you seem to everywhere
Me: yes I move with the economy of the country.

VO : so what do u do now
Me: I was with xyz bank untill may when I resigned. I worked with the HOUR dept so I got first hand information about sacking of contract workers and since I was a contract worker I honourably resigned before they could sack me. the works ave been sacked and are on d streets with ply card protesting.

VO: so u r a protester
Me: no, I resigned. I was not sacked. Am not aggrieved at all.
VOsadsmiling) that's OK.
Who is your sponsor
Me: my uncle

VO: Why not your parent: my kids brother got admission in Uk for January so they will sponsor him, besides their priority for me is marriage. But I want to quickly get my masters before marriage will interrupt it.

VO: (smiling) parents and marriage she murmured.
So why will your uncle sponsor you, doesn't he have kids:
Me: his kids are still little and besides I just recently discorved 12 ghost workers in his company, so he is indeed grateful and wants Me to d coy's handle HR.

VO: do u ave any exam for this admission
Me: am to sit for English classes when I get to school and GRE was waived for me cos of my work experience and post graduate certification. But I wrote the exams though ( hallelujah she didn't ask for the score cos it was too low)

VO: passing a doc (my heart skipped) she said in case u ave any problems in USA pls call this number and collect ur passport on Tuesday in VI.

ME: thank you.

Out of the whole library that I went with, she didn't ask for anything document, no statement, sponsor letter or even the name of my school.
beyond excited.
I think the first three question and answer gave mi my visa. She was impressed.

Thank God I cancelled by inital interview when I stumbled on this thread last month. I was not ready. I read the thread and applied for emergency date. I prepared well and I got it. May God be praised.

I appreciate and love you guys for the selfless job u do on here.

On to the next plan. The cheapest flight to JFK.
Congrats!!!It's well deserved! For flight www.kayak.com or www.wakanow.com shld be ur best friend now. Emirates and Royal Air Maroc are d cheapest tho...

risher ris: the point is .....during my very first interview, i was very nervous.the consular did not even request any docs from me.he asked a few questions that i did answered well but he still denied me.the second interview, my interviewer said he s not in the position to issue me a visa right now that he s not the one that denied me that was last spring and this fall again i was interviewed by the same guy that interviewed me the very first time he asked a few questions too and did not request any document from mebut he asked a question i did not answer really well,he said why did i choose that very location?and i told him i have not being to the united states before and how will i know what what and what is in the location...and he asked some few questions afterwards and i did answer well but this time around he gave me a separate denial form still under section 214b that says i should re apply at any time by submitting a new application, photo and pay visa fee to be interviewed by a consular........thanks
Like some people have said, the response is harsh...a good response would have been: 'I chose the best school that suits my profile, I was more concern abt blah blah blah(like the research work of the faculties) than the location of the school.' Well, my thinking tho
