Politics › Re: Ibom Air Assault Case Not Same As KWAM 1 Incident, Says NCAA by SmartyPants(m): 9:44am On Aug 12, 2025 |
jjbest123: On Ibom Air, same opinion as with Value Jet.
If you lack what it takes to be a professional and escalate or de-escalate issues without devolving into caveman antics or relying on your brute force or emotional outburst, then get out of professional spaces.
Two wrongs can never make a right.
Sometimes I get severely provoked by people I have to deal with and what I do is to take a step back and immediately escalate to a superior.
You cannot hold an individual hostage when you do not have the authorities to arrest or detain people.
If the issue had been ongoing and had been escalated to AvSec, the lady didn’t need to be held hostage or even arrested on the plane, anywhere on the airport grounds is sufficient to pull her aside and have a word with her. You can also reach out to her afterwards using the manifest if you do not have the powers to arrest people.
Not sure if the air hostess or air hostesses in general are given the authority to conduct citizen arrests when they are given their cute little skirts and ish but just like the pilot that left the cockpit to come and have a one-on-on with Wasiu, most of these issues are arising either because people do not know where to draw the professional line and where to stand (otherwise known over here as “above my paygrade”); or they have zero conflict resolution skills.
Also, was that lady stripped?
Lol.
Anyway, let us focus on the professionals that took a minute or two to act like agberos, are you all willing now to have a conversation about how and why professionals should have a rein on their emotions and watch their reactions in public?
Whatever the issue was was not properly de-escalated when it started; and that was why it spilled into that embarrassing show of shame - a flying passenger is a customer and should not be treated with condescension just because.
If they refused to turn off their phones or switch it to flight mode; then the aircraft should not have taken off until they were removed from it or if the decision was made to fly to destination with them and then remove them there, AvSec should have been waiting for the plane upon arrival and done the detention and arrest themselves so they can let her know what offense she was being held for BEFORE going ahead to detain her.
Anyway, hopefully she has good lawyers or will get good lawyers.
Ibom Air and its representatives were highly unprofessional.
What is wrong with Aviation in Nigeria this August sef?
PS: Are we still switching off phones to board flights? What is the “flight mode” option for? In this day and age where we can hold full blown conversations with our people who are flying long haul, a woman got stripped by an airline staff for not “switching off her phone”?
Lol!
PPS: Seriously people should know how to determine what is within and above their paygrade and refuse to involve themselves in anything above or below your paygrade; or not in your job description. I have said it here before: do YOUR job (when in doubt, check your job description), get paid, go home.
That’s all.
It is when you overstep the boundaries of your JD that you make all of these gaffes and expose yourself to the risk of losing the job you were trying to do too much to get noticed on.
~Viola~ It amazes me how someone would type up paragraphs upon paragraphs without having basic knowledge of what they're talking about. The cabin crew have every right to detain you. In the first place, every single individual has a right to carry out a citizen's arrest when a crime is committed. Not to talk of an airplane which is subject to special rules. |

gidgiddy: This is stupidity. KWAM 1 and the young lady were both wrong. But the law treated them very differently. Thats the point Obi was trying to make. When Kwam 1 stood in front of a moving plane, he endangered lives including his own. But he is chilling at home while the young lady is reportedly in jail. Why? The young lady didn't endanger life, she fell out with Airline staff. KWAM1 both fell out with staff and endangered life. That young lady is in jail because she physically assaulted an airline staff, not because she was a nuisance. You cleverly reduced it by saying she "fell out". Is that good? |

Nobody is bigger than the law of the land You are comparing someone being a nuisance with someone who actually physically assaulted another person, and you think you are making sense? I would say Peter Obi should be ashamed of himself but then we know that he is a politician who relies on tribal division so no surprise there. |

Defenders that get cooked most is wing back. You're using smartphone check start. This is the same players that u said they get involved occasionally. You can be a midfield and think you're d one involved most on the pitch yes you're right but the toughest position on the pitch is wingback. Ur mentality is for LAZY men. How do you know who provided for whom, between Adam and Eve?? There's no part of the Bible that says so. You have made an assumption. Meanwhile, there is Proverbs 31, which is quite clear. Your idea that women are NEVER supposed to provide for a man, which really, in context, says, men should provide everything, is merely your idea, not supported by scripture. Now, the laws of nature also decree that women should be in the house cooking and cleaning, but you see, mankind has made its own laws contrary to the laws of nature. So adapt or get left behind. |

Mrchippychappy: People should rest on this issue of gross mismanagement of public funds and a complete case of misplaced priorities?
Veterans in the armed forces are struggling to feed their family by the way.
Doctors are fleeing the country to become janitors due to poor wages.
Most of these girls are based in Europe or USA and already earn a good salary playing for football and basketball teams in these Western countries.
No one is saying they shouldn't be rewarded but must it be 100,000 usd? How do we justify this and then turn a blind eye to the plight of veterans? Na wa oh
Even the Lioness of England that just won the euros were paid much less than this and that was a much bigger competition.
Priorities people, Priorities. Loosing your conscience over some political party wey no send you is a crazy way to live your life. Who told you that? Many of these girls have to hold second jobs, especially the female footballers playng outside Europe. Like men, their careers are also quite short. These complaints smack of wickedness to me because you know darn well that billions are being siphoned by politicians, but it is a mere 100k usd amounting to no more than $3m for the entire team and technical staff that is giving you people sleepless nights. Horrible people. |

Idonweak: Hello Nairalanders, for almost a year now, I've been struggling with jock itch. At first, I didn't know what it was called; I just knew I would get very itchy on my thighs around my private area.
So, I went online and discovered that what I had is called jock itch - a fungal infection that can be caused by moisture around the pubic area. Jock itch is very itchy and leaves a very ugly rash on the skin.
I used Funbact A, and it worked - the rash would clear off. However, immediately I stopped using it, it would come back, and the rash would spread faster. Right now, it's back again, and I want to get Funbact A. But I feel like there should be a very strong antifungal cream better than Funbact A, which is why I'm here. I need recommendations from health practitioners in the house. What can I use to get rid of this infection?
NB: The picture is gotten from Google. When dealing with an infection like this you must use the treatment long after the symptoms disappear. That is, if it disappears after 2 weeks, keeping using it for another 2 weeks. Since Funbact A has worked, use it again with Damattol. This is important: 1. Apply Funbact A first and allow it some time to be absorbed before you apply Damatol. 2. Avoid every potential cause of reinfection. Keep the area clean and dry. Don't use the same pair of underwear after you've had a bath. Having said that, your best bet is to go to a government hospital and get a final authoritative diagnosis and treatment plan. |

Just give me where we can find them You can find them in Toyota Camrys and Toyota Corollas every morning from about 6:00 am to 9:00 am, hurtling across the Third Mainland bridge to begin their work day. You can find them in 6 by 7 stores in Onitsha market selling anything from cosmetics to spare parts. You can find them in the Bureau of Changes of Abuja. statesman6: You're d one contradicting yourself. Seems like na pes u dey play lol. So the left back is not full back again. If the left back engaged and the right back is chilling in d opposition half, Salah square it for Diaz and it's a goal. As the left back engaged Salah so the right back also recovered to prevent left winger. The DM and the CB also make sure that they defend CF.
Clearly you're one of those who watch ball only from screen and never step foot on pitch.
You also claimed that most full back used to a product of converted winger. You're right, I was a winger before I was converted to RB/RWB not because I failed but d manager realized that I can defend and at the same time attack. I'm not the type of wingers that stay beside the touch line, waiting for pass from hustling midfielders. I was a team players that always help the defenders so he think I should play as RWB. Others used to convert because wingers are competitive and nobody wants to be a full back so they take that sacrifice. The reason you can't understand what I'm saying is because you are a carry-boot and enter-field type of footballer. Your inability to process what I'm saying is shocking. Now listen: There is what we call active defending and passive defending. For instance, a through ball is played through the channel into the space behind you as a left back, with a winger rushing to get to the ball. You are actively engaged in this situation, and you will need to sprint out to engage the winger. The remaining defenders including the right back will all be engaged too, but passively. Their job is to take up the right space and WAIT. To begin with, you are describing a situation that won't happen in every minute of the game. It may happen frequently but not constantly. This is as compared the job of the 4. The 4 must support both 2 and 3 and occosionally, replace the 5&6 when one is out of position. When the team attacks he follows to always create a pivot, or alternatively, to b the first line of defence. It's obvious, then, that on average the 4 will cover more ground than a 2 or 3. This is common football knowledge. But if you still disagree, then I agree. |

statesman6: If you ever play football or a football lover a d you're saying full back have time to rest on the pitch or ball doesn't flow too much on their side I gve up on you. You're playing a team like Liverpool, Madrid or Bayern. If this team gain possession the target player is d winger. VD collect pass, the next pass is either salah or Diaz. The team already attacking and d full back is the opposition half. VD gain possession and play counter to Salah, oya think about how the full back will sprint back to recover. My good man you're whining yourself. Even from what you're saying can't you see the contradiction? If the ball goes to Salah then the left back is engaged, but the right back has time to rest. The only player that can never rest on the pitch is the 4. You can never claim fullback is the hardest position to play in the presence of serious footballers. You will be laughed out of the room. statesman6: If strikers know how to position himself and master running behind, 3defenders cannot stop him. But you see that full back position, you have to have pace, strong and confidence. You'll chop blame if u don't defend like center back, you'll also chop blame if u cannot attack like a winger. That's why old players can play as DM and striker but have u seen old players playing as full back? The wingers will cook him coz he won't have pace again. First, let's establish one baseline: there's no easy position. Every position has its rigours. But you can never say fullback is the hardest. Never. Fullbacks typically have the most space on the pitch when they receive the ball. They don't have to be skillful or even particularly technical. They simply need to be decent defenders and have a decent level of technique. Though you need some stamina to get up and down, full-backs can rest much more than midfielders and wingers because the game doesn't always flow into their area of the pitch. There's no argument about it, full back is far from the most difficult. And note: Most fullbacks in the professional game are players who failed to make it as wingers or centre mids. Meanwhile, forr a striker, outthinking defenders with positioning is not easy. It is one of the hardest things to do because the defender is not a dummy, he knows what you're trying to do unless it's low level football. That is why good attackers are the highest paid footballers - their skilset is rare. |

Striker is the hardest. You have to be really strong mentally to be a good striker. Because you will be up against 2 defenders at any given time and they will usually be on the pitch by virtue of being the biggest and toughest. What they may lack in skill, they will make up for with aggression and it will be directed straight at you. So you have to out think, out fight, out run them. Easily the hardest position. |
