Jman06:
You people should stop being ungrateful! Honestly, this letter has opened my eyes as to Ojukwu's intentions for secession from Nigeria. I apologize for all the while I thought his actions were for selfish reasons. He actually planned what many of us currently have in mind for the southern Nigeria, which is to achieve a liberation from the Hausa/Fulani domination.

Any honest person from Southern Nigeria would agree that the best thing for southern Nigeria is to separate from the north because of the clear religious and cultural differences between the north and south. I strongly believe that even if we split along South/North line, the south can coexist peacefully because they have a lot of things in common, including the Christian religion and western education. Yorubas and Igbos can exist peacefully in one country because despite all the jabs they throw at each other online, both tribes intermarry and do everything together peacefully offline! That's the benefit of having western education and Christianity in common by the two tribes.

So, Ojukwu wanted the best for the south and I wish we southerners could unite and work together to achieve the goal of separating from the north
He clearly wanted what was best for the Igbo nation and by extension, himself. Don't be an intellectual coward when the truth is facing all of us squarely. There was no single improvement to the lives of the Niger Delta tribes who found themselves as minorities in Biafra. They were thoroughly mistreated and the same pattern played out when the Biafrans entered the Mid-West. They had absolutely no regard for any life other than that of the Igbo.

So what was Ojukwu's objective with the South West?

1. He correctly assessed that Biafra could never be truly free as long as the Southwest and MidWest remained in Nigeria, as then, she would be surrounded on nearly all sides by powerful threats. He needed a "liberated" South West as a countermeasure to the north and a "liberated Mid-West as a buffer to the South West.

2. He incorrectly assessed that he could, by way of war and guile interchangeably, seize Lagos and annex it to Biafra. That is the only reason he claimed to "reserve the right to appoint an administrator" for Lagos.

Imagine you claiming that someone who has not finished securing his region invaded another region to help them. Lol!

So how would you interpret a judgement by a member of an election tribunal using the below words without attaching a political connotation?

''The second respondent cannot ‘go lo lo lo lo’ and ‘buga won’ as the duly elected governor of Osun state in the election conducted on the 16th day of July, 2022' ... grin
What is political about that...at worst it is inappropriate and unbecoming, but you can't read a political bias into such an empty statement. Unless you are already desperate to find one.

You will notice by the kind of people they ALLOW into their space, the passion with which they chase their dreams, the intensity of their focus the kind of conversations that captures their interest and the energy they radiate.
Are there really circles of such or you may just randomly meet such people and perhaps over time for your own circle or get invited into one? Perhaps these circles exist in Uni but once you're in the real world... It almost becomes a lottery who you meet

The person that wrote this particular article is a dunce.

I happen to have read the story elsewhere so I know this is not what was said.

He said his daughter worked for Buhari for 4 years without pay then she called Tinubu using her father's number, and he gave her the NUPRC job.

Such meaningless journalism.

So because Ekpo is a Nigerian who heads an organisation in the US he's committed a crime? He's a professor of law heading a UN think tank. Pray tell who are you?
You are asking what is the relationship between a governor destroying the house of assembly building and "executive illegality"? You also don't know that 4 people cannot meet the quorum requirements to pass a law?

If you don't like the flavour, you will definitely not enjoy it.

I prefer it to moimoi.
I also prefer anambra okpa to Enugu okpa. Anambra add more stuff in it and use palm oil concentrate. The taste is so diff. Haven't eaten that since donkey years. Enugu okpa just full everywhere.
I actually enjoyed it, and I ate it for like three days in a row and then just went off it. It's not bad at all.

IyfeNamikaze:
It's not about having clubs and restaurants in abundance, it's the quality that matters . Ibadan doesn't have anything close to the level of Asia town, The Red Coral, Native Tray or even Spice Route.
As for sites, there is the Ifoko beach, Tourist beach and Bonny Island beach. Then there is the Garden city Amusement park, pleasure park, there's also the Polo club where you can go hang out in a picnic while watching horses galloping up and down the lush green. There's also the Zoo, the colorful Mile 1 street market.

PH is a cool place to visit, better than Ibadan
The only thing you've mentioned that I will accept are beaches. And Ibadan residents can easily drive down to Lagos for the most spectacular beaches in Nigeria so that's really just a minor advantage.

From what I can see online the restaurants you shared are very average - I'm shocked you think there are no places like those in Ibadan. As I said, there is an abundance of such. Shandy's, Jay's Place, Five Continents, Ibachi...etc. There is at least one amusement park and UI still has probably the leading Zoo in the nation.

Not to mention historical and cultural sites of local and national relevance such as Bower's tower, Cocoa house and so on.

Have you actually been to Ibadan?

DeepSight:
Do you want to start with the Oil Companies and the multiple effects of their presence? Do you want to talk about the sophistication of entertainment options, namely the pedigree of restaurants and hotels? Do you want to talk about the international mix of people dwelling there? And nowadays do you want to talk about the infrastructure, from roads, bridges to air and sea port?

Ibadan is an old town and was always the largest in West Africa for a long time but truth is much of it is very unsightly, you have to admit.

Part of the problem is you haven't been to PH. If you had, you will recognize that other than Lagos and Abuja it is the next most significant city in Nigeria. In many ways. Aside from being a petroleum hub, it is also a centre of significant national politics.
We should define the terms of reference clearly: the thread is about places where the average person can live well but you seem to be conflating this with cities that are nationally relevant. These are two parallel lines. In fact, it is arguable that the more relevant a city is in terms of national affairs, the less pleasant it will be to live there.

Now looking at the points you made, I don't see solid arguments:

1. Entertainment: What are the sophistication of entertainment options? What exactly is on offer? Don't forget that Ibadan is an hour to Lagos so if you feel the entertainment on offer is not sophisticated enough, you can sprint into Lagos for the luxuries that no other city in Nigeria quite has. Port Harcourt can't beat that. But again, you haven't mentioned what exactly is on offer that's so special.

2. Infrastructure: Ibadan has very good roads. It doesn't need bridges nor a Seaport, because Lagos. But again, how does a seaport make life better for the average person? Ibadan does have an Airport but this is not even really relevant because, again, Lagos.

3. Large parts of Ibadan are unsightly, but Ibadan is at least three times the size of Port Harcourt: the sightly part of Ibadan is almost as large as Port Harcourt itself. So the unsightly part of Ibadan can't stop anyone from living a great life here. Like I said, if you don't want to, you'll never have a reason to step foot in those places.

4. When you say international mix of people living there, how does that make it a better place for the average Nigeria to live there? In fact, clearly the effect will be to make the city pricier.

So if we stick to the research question, you haven't shown how Port Harcourt is better. Add to this the fact that Ibadan is much cheaper to live in and much safer both in terms of crime and environmental pollution, I don't see how you can make a case for Port Harcourt here. Finally, again, whatever you want that you can't find in Ibadan, you will find an hour away in Lagos.

The fortunate thing is, other cities are now changing their infrastructures rapidly to advanced and cutting edge ones, like in Enugu which has almost the same ambience as Abuja and even more urbane than Abuja with its literate inhabitants.
Oga softly softly. Enugu is nowhere close to Abuja in any way. A city with only one decent mall? Stop it.

Enugu is the only place I've had okpa, and it was alright, but the way people describe it - just like you have- doesn't match the reality. But then taste is subjective and not worth debating.

On your first sentence, who else in the history of Nigeria has made a profit after managing a state for 8 years? Nobody.

Verdict: He is still the best governor Nigeria has ever had.

Second sentence.

If you check the men who have changed parties in Nigeria 98% of all top politicians has changed parties. If it's a criteria for you to judge principled men, you should hate Umahi and Rochas too. They had switched parties before and you have confessed your love for them in this very thread. That's why I said your support is conditioned with religious or ethnic bias.

On your third point about campaigning against Peter Obi again, you can go ahead and campaign against the best candidates as lond as he is not from your tribe.
Which silly profit? You were given money to build a house, you built half, then kept the rest of the money somewhere (his bank, where it can earn compound interest for him) and called it profit. Are you reasoning at all?

If he increased IGR and saved from this, then that could be commendable but taking federal allocations that you are meant to use to improve your State and keeping it somewhere (again, his bank, where it can earn compound interest for him) does not make sense. Unless you would like to tell us that there were no pending needs of Anambra people during that period.

Anyway you're not to be taken seriously.
