luvinhubby: You are terror to upcoming generations when you do not have any form of investment and savings for tomorrow. A good man leaves an inheritance for his children`s children. The worst `looters` of our public funds are this same governors saying this thrash. SWF is simply an investment fund where are our extra budgetary earnings are put aside, including excess crude income, to act as a buffer to our single-commodity economy incase of another economic melt down to avoid a scenario of Greece currently.
That NOI did not allow their pilfering fingers access to extra money from excess crude account makes this governors making this statement public enemy number one, after all, it was this same NGF under Amaechi that aggressively pushed for subsidy removal.
Please let us understand the fundamental issue. Whatever ideas she or Jonathan has about the SWT cannot be superior to the fiscal law of the country and this the valid point the governors are making.

Secondly I have serious doubt about Jonathan's govt fiscal responsibility haven seen the way they have mismanaged and squandered the foreign reserve left by the obj govt.

Danhumprey: Is it when she resigned that things would be betterhuh Let's try to keep sentiment, bias, male chauvinism aside when commenting on issues of national importance! This woman has tried, though she has some faults in some of her action.
Please do not get it twisted. The governors are only saying she should respect the appropriation law and if she feels she cannot she should resign because we live in a constitutional democracy where no one is above the law.

Sincere 9gerian: Did anyone notice the absence of the word "faction" in this whole report despite the fact it was a meeting of the Amaechi led NGF? If this report were to be about PDP, you would have seen "faction" all over the place. I've also noticed this same pattern in certain section of the media. I'm not in support of factionalization but if the media has decided to celebrate the factionalization of the PDP for whatever reasons why not also celebrate that of NGF? Why the double standard? Why the bias? Shame on the bandits who call themselves journalists.
Ride on brother! Jonathan's failure of leadership, management, governance, vision is every other person's faults not his ! Blame it on the media, on the people in his party, the opposition, his wife etc. But not a single one is Jonathan's fault. I get it.

manny4life: Absolute RUBBISH.

Under this woman's authority

A. Nigeria has successfully diversified her economy, through several initiated programs, we're seeing gains from agriculture to construction, from increased transportation to middle class rising. Granted that we still depend on oil, our non-oil revenues has increased. Our ports are now remitting more monies than they used, she has synchronized the reporting and accountability system. Heck, Nigeria is on a better footing that it was before.

B. On the Budget, she increased capital expense by more than 8%, and decreased our recurrent by more than 11%. In our history, Capital expense has never crossed 30% mark, let alone represent 1/3rd of the budget (I may be wrong, open to dispute). grin grin . Madam NOI has has taken appropriate measures to further decrease our dependence on oil revenues.

C. Most of our ministers are performing because she's following appropriate due diligence in release of funds. She has applied sincere rule of law, no longer will it be said that ministers pocket money for projects. From ministry of aviation and transportation to energy, people are working as funds are released in blocks/project. There is proper accountability, and they're accusing her of failing to meet the country's revenue projection and 2013 appropriation law? What a load of rubbish. angry angry angry

I can go on and on, but seriously, Gov Amaechi and company shouldn't bite the fingers that are supporting him. This woman is a pillar of hope for Nigeria, they have said all but not really said anything. Let them tell us how she hasn't met the revenue projection, after all, it's called "PROJECTION" not "ACTUAL"... Nansense.
Yes, I conceed that she helped popularise the otherwise important concept of due process bit this has been nigerianised . Public officers now carefully follow due process in criminally looting the public treasury.

The assertion that the nigerian economy is being diversified is so blatantly false I will not dissipate energy on such obvious lie!

I suppose every south westerner must support Jonathan. Is that the logic?

Must everybody support the president and his party in a democracy. Why don't we just come here and discuss issues instead of seeing every single thing from the prism of ethnicity and religion.

Sometimes the way people think baffles me.

Like mrs nweala you are showing a tendency to indulge in technocratic sophistry instead of speaking the truth.
Stop quoting fake figures from Saharan making and co , the recurrent expenditure has not gone down by 8 % under Jonathan and under her watch. From a figure of 1.6 trillion between 2003 to 2007, it shot up to 2.3 billon in 2009 and 3.3 billion by 2012. That is approximately 100ercent increase under the Jonathan administration alone.

While the recurrent has burgeoned , capital expenditure has dwindled and budget performance has not increased in any significant way. What has increased under her watch is appropriation irresponsibility and impunity.
All the fiscal lapses of the past are still there despite all the noise about due process.

I ask you a simple question: what are her policy successes either during her first outing as obasanjo presidency or her latest incarnation as Jonathan's e economic policy guru.?
The payment of over 12 billion dollars to the country's external creditors in one fell swoop to exit the Paris club remains an achievement of doubtful value. The promise d gains have not materialized more than six years down the line. infrastriure remains parlous while the country is fast amassing new debts. The country's foreign reserve has been squandered .

Under her watch, what we have continuously experienced is the abnornality of growth without any meaningful impact on the lives of the average Nigerian.

This is the truth and not the the boring discredited technocratic sophistry she and all you jonathanians keep repeating like a broken record.

I am getting tired of reading about PDP because the crisis within the party is very predictable and boring.

To me, PDP and jonathan are just postponing the evil day. The interests at play here are so diametrically opposed, it can only be a win-lose situation. There can not be a win-win outcome in this high stakes politics.

Here in Nigeria, he left government more than 7 years ago, he does not have immunity. If you have any evidence go to EFCC. as for international crimes, he travels to the USA and the UK all the time, except of course, the UK and USA govt are afraid to prosecute him as well.

WildChild00: Wahala owa ooooooooooooooooooo

Back to the thread topic, can somebody pls tell me, APC is not trying to adopt wat the old ACN did in the past, by annointing canidate without primaries, anyway good move, there should be transparency along party level, and not usual Tunibu annointing cheesy
Any set of party members can endorse or adopt any candidate of their choice, the important thing is that the constitution of the party APC stipulates that there will be a direct primaries where the party's candidate will be subject to the vote of all registered party members.

The first news item is about party members endorsing or adopting a particular party member just like okorocha and senator annie okonkwo initially endorsed senator ngige before the option A4 congress where he eventually emerged the governorship candidate of APC in anambra state.

The second news item is about a national officer of the party coming out to clarify that notwithstanding the first news item, the so adopted candidate is not the official candidate of the until the rank and file of party members say so in a properly organized primaries.

The problem here is that you are mixing up the endorsement of a candidates by party members and stakeholders(as it obtains in most democracies in the world) with the eventual candidate of a party for a particular election.

endorsement or adoption by stakeholders does not preclude any candidate from the constitutionally stipulated process of emerging the candidate of the party.

i took this time to explain in case you are actually interested in the facts of the matter.

If Tinubu can do it, Ifeanyi Uba may but am not sure.
Just to educate you. Asiwaju TINUBU joined politics directly as treasurer of Mobil after working with the major oil company as an accountant for 12 years. He was immediately elected as a senator in Lagos central senatorial district in 1992 with the highest vote across the county.
He was the chairman of the appropriation comitee of the semate between 1991 to 1994 when abacus aborted the third republic.

He was a leading light of of nadeco that fought for the restoration of the democracy we enjoy today. He became the governor of Lagos in 1999.

emiye: Governor Fashola Finally Makes His Presence Known At Festac Grammar School Nov 2011
http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/adeola-aderounmu/governor-fashola-finally-makes-his-presence-known-at-festac-grammar-school.html

In April when this struggle started I had written that one of the greatest mysteries of Lagos State Ministry of Education is how a school that got the first prototype one storey-structure in the old Ojo Local Government was left to rot away totally as a predominantly poultry school. It seems that the government of Governor Fashola, in a reaction to the series of stories about the embarrassing situations at FGS, is set to repair, renovate and re-construct FGS.

I also made a promise that was hard to keep. But I did my best. The ultimate goal was to write about Festac Grammar School once a month because as I stated then: the problems with Festac Grammar School became for me a personal struggle. It is still a cause.

Now that hope has come, I feel obliged to write this story about the presence of Governor Fashola in Festac Grammar School through Acces-1 Energy Trading Company.

I have not received the details of the contract; therefore I am not in a position to describe the extent of the work that will be done.

However I do know the old storey building that was built in 1985 has now been given some re-touching in terms of structural maintenance.

One of the dilapidated poultry block of classrooms has been pulled down completely to pave way for a new storey building of 12 classrooms.
These developments are in the positive directions. They are in line with one of the long-term objectives of the Alumni Association to ensure that the school poultry structures built by Lateef Jakande are overhauled and replaced by modern storey buildings.

This objective should never be different from the functions of the Lagos State Ministry of Education. How schools are allowed to rotten remain inexplicable and if we tie it to the systemic corruption in the Nigeria system then it is an indication of what I feared most: that the future of the unborn generations remain stolen.
Whichever way, it gladdens the heart and it brings a sense of fulfillment to witness the re-construction work at FGS. Without any doubt I am convinced that it was a rapid response to our calls that have been made on the NVS and some of our blogs
The Lagos State Government has shown that we do not need to know anyone in the corridors at Alausa in Ikeja before our agitations can be attended to. What the LASG must also ensure is that it carries out its functions without allowing us to carry the burdens to the web space all the time.

Our agitations and concerns are genuine and noble. It is clear that we want education to be promoted. A sane environment is necessary to produce sane minds. A sane environment is necessary to nurture the future generations.

On our part as members of the Alumni Group we have made progresses. We have donated some equipment to the school and we have helped them to settle electricity bills. We have more plans.

In terms of our organization we are now duly registered and our activities are governed by a written constitution. We are in the process of electing our executive members to take over from the caretaker committee and more than ever before the future of the Alumni Group look secured.

This year, less than 5 months after we re-converged as Alumni Group from our different niches we have organized career day/ workshop at Festac Grammar School and we have awarded prizes to outstanding students.

We have made ourselves more visible in Festac Town and we have provided ourselves with the platform that will motivate the students attending Festac Grammar School. They are now in contact with us. We have a wonderful opportunity to be their role models and mentors.

For us this year is a success story in the history of our Alumni Group.
to me, Fashola's greatest strength is his vision.
There is very little a man of vision and ideas cannot do.
Thanks for taking up this challenge! I will expect you remain civil in your comments while we argue because I ignore insults.

First the questions you answered were questions I said you should answer personally with your God!!

The questions I asked for your answers were for you to name particular projects Fashola solely executed with public funds within his tenure as Governor, which I believe is the main aim of this thread, I asked this because when the OP started showing pictures of projects, he was displaying many pictures of private sponsored projects and Lagos state being a business hub you shouldn't expect anything less from corporate bodies resident there.

Though I woudnt want to repond to your personal reply to the questions I asked for you to answer personally, I am tempted to argue on some issues you raised therein.

First you said the FG is the one to economic policies in Lagos. Yes, this is true, but how do you explain this, a
You see herein lies the problem i have with you. i have gone through the uploaded pics and the newspaper reprints of fashola achievements patiently and i can confidently tell you that most of the projects displayed are public sector financed. but you have a counter claim.

The onus is on you now to prove that by so and so percentage all the projects uploaded in those pics are Private sector financed. i was not the one who made the assertion that all of the uploaded pics are PPP. You are.
Secondly, i can categorically tell you right now that lagos state government according to their web sites have up to 900 on-going projects at various stages of completion( am not even talking about completed projects in the previous years). Are you saying you expect me to list each of these projects, their cost, the input cost of the private sector financing to prove to you that what you are saying is not true(which i am sure is not) to prove your own assertion wrong.

You are the one who made an assertion.I want to believe that before you made the assertion you have your facts and figures. So present them and let us debate it.

thirdly, let me ask you some simple questions to simplify matters:

Fashola had constructed many many roads in lagos, please can you list the ones that are PPP aside from the lekki lcc projects.?

Fashola has built many , many schools in lagos , can you list the ones that are private sector financed?

fashola has constructed many , many drainages, built and equipped many hospitals etc can you list any of these that are private sector financed?

I just asked these three questions, so that we can at least have some place to start.

No one is denying any tribes contribution to the development of Lagos. The hausas, non-lagosian Yorubas, delta, benins, ijaw etc have also contributed to the development of lagos.
To paraphrase your word, the acrimony only surfaces when some sociopaths of a specific tribe purposefully try to claim that lagos is a no-man land and disparages its people and culture.

fraudulent propaganda. Most of those schools have been replaced. You need to understand that these schools were built by jakande in the seventies when the student population was probably less than 20% of what it is now, it will take some time to replace them all.

Again, The side of the bottle full is far more than the part empty, and we are not saying the bottle is full.
Fashola will read this thread and be happy his being worshiped and continue to scam you guys the more by cutting tape at every gutter completed by someone.
Let's look at all the project and pictures displayed here, one by one...
.
Schools..... How many of such schools that are displayed here are in Lagos? How many of you here who worship Fashola can entrust your kids to such schools? Why don't you show us pictures of schools in use and not the ones they are commissioning? Now the big question how many of this school rehabilitation projects are SOLELY funded by LASG? Please anyone replying should do that with a list so we can verify else quite quoting cos I will ignore you.

Water ..... How come despite all these water projects posted here, 80% of Lagosians still don't have public water? How many of you can be sincere to your God and say you actually use this water projects posted here or anyone at all? OK, they are only used to prove Fashola has provided water. Even at that which and which particular water works is fully funded by LASG, please be careful when listing them cos I have got the list of world bank assisted water projects in Lagos and most of them were commissioned by Fashola in his usual manner.

Skill Acquisition - Aren't you ashamed that you displayed Cosharis Training centre as part of LASG project? Because he called Fashola to commission it and offered a partnership with LASG, now its termed a visionary project from Fashola. Ask how much did Fashola invest there? Name and show us skill acquisition centres solely built by Fashola .

Housing - For you to even enumerate this as Fashola's project shows how ignorant you are of government. I am sure you are one of those kids who ejaculate when you see this Con man cuts any tape. The houses schemes you mentioned and posted here are private sector driven and the few with LASG participation are funded from Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria. I challenge you to prove me wrong!!!

Security - You display vans and security gadgets fully provided by the support of private/ corporate bodies using the vehicle of Lagos Security Trust Fund. How much did LASG donate to the trust fund? Haba facts are sacred. Even the Police vans donated by MTN just last week, the Con man was at hand to cut the tape like as if LASG contributed a dime for even the spare tires of any of the vans.

Agriculture - Like seriously , I am surprised someone could post Fashola's picture in an agric mart as an achievement!! I even saw one pix Eko rice!! Please which of you have seen or eaten this Eko rice? Which of you go to this Agric mart Fashola snapped pictures with? How many of these Agric marts are there in the entire Lagos state? How has this Agric mart helped in reducing the prices of food in Lagos state? These are questions sensible pple should ask and not looking and beautiful colored pictures.

Public works - I saw pictures of a beautiful building being inaugurated and so many road construction equipments, but I would still like to ask , If LASG owns all these equipments, then repairing LASG shouldn't be a problem!! At least you can use these guys to embark on regular maintenance of roads and even construction of minor Road works. You should ask yourself why is that pothole at your busstop still there even after one year? Where are these guys being used ? Or are they just for photo propaganda?

Overall if Fashola has performed as you claim, can you sincerely say your life is better?

Has you travel time within Lagos improved?

Have you enjoyed better healthcare services from LASG hospitals and hence quit using private hospitals?

Can you sleep comfortable at night in Lagos feeling secured or can you walk at night on the streets of Lagos feeling safe?

Have you been able to buy food cheaper than before?

Has your business fared better under Fashola's economic policies?

These are questions you should answer between yourself and your God, don't reply me cos it affects only you

Let me stop here for now. I will be willing to engage anyone with sensible comments on a debate free of insults and mudslinging but purely on facts and figures.
Honestly,i patiently read through your write up to see the precise point you are trying to make; then it occurs to me that you are employing a classical propaganda argument called the part of the bottle empty to counter the part of the bottle full.

First, except you are telling me you expect fashola to solve all the myriad of problems in lagos state, by which i mean fix all the roads, get all lagos schools and hospital to private standards etc. but that is not what we are discussing here. The topic of discussion here is about Fashola's achievements.

We are not saying Fashola has solved all the problems of lagos state but we are saying he has achieved a lot.

Your argument is like saying a boy who scored 80 percent in an exam has not passed because he did not score 100 percent.
fashola has not and cannot solve all the problems of lagos state but he has achieved a lot. Get that first.

Now to the specifics of your questions:

Overall if Fashola has performed as you claim, can you sincerely say your life is better? What do you mean here, Fashola is not the president of the country whose economic policies such inflation management, interest rate, power supply etc has the most direct bearing on what will make my life better. i do not use it, but those who do told me the BRT bus scheme made their life better

Has you travel time within Lagos improved? My travel time, every time i visit lagos has improved in most parts of lagos( i remember oshodi and several places), but of course there might still be some other places pending.

Have you enjoyed better healthcare services from LASG hospitals and hence quit using private hospitals?
To be honest with you, i know some private clinics now refer certain patients to lagos hospitals because have being better equipped than any other in this country including some federal government Hospitals. bottom line: health care has improved tremendously in lagos state.

Can you sleep comfortable at night in Lagos feeling secured or can you walk at night on the streets of Lagos feeling safe? Yes. i can sleep better because security in lagos has improved tremendously this past years. The incidence of violent crime such as armed robbery has gone down drastically.I hope you are not expecting fashola to eradicate it completely because it is not possible to.

Have you been able to buy food cheaper than before? fashola cannot control inflation and interest rate. he is not the president of Nigeria.

Has your business fared better under Fashola's economic policies? Fashola is not the president of the country whose economic policies such inflation management, interest rate, power supply etc has the most direct bearing on what will make my business better.

fashola has done very well. i will score him 8 out of 10 so far.

FreeGlobe: are you afraid of facing t something with his challenge because you know I wont oblige you by telling you what you already know cool
Why are you begging the question? How did you arrive at your 85% figure?
What i expected you to do is to quote the total figure for all lagos capital expenditure Projects divide that by the total figure for PPP and multiply by 100. Unfortunately you have no regard for facts or figures.

All you do is concocting figures and making wild and false assertions that you cannot substantiate.
PoliticsRe: The Fashola Vs Akpabio Thread. by softwareman(m): 12:12pm On Sep 15, 2013
FreeGlobe: @ bolded, where has Fashola's govt concentrated states financial resources, where is Lagos money? over 30 billion IGR monthly?
To start with you display abysmal ignorance of how government works by not knowing that a government does not spend all its money on capital projects alone. there is something called recurrent expenditure. So quoting figures as if you are ignorant of the fact that at least half of a state IGR( the utterly incompetent jonathan govt spends 80% of theirs on recurrent expenditure) is usually utilised in recurrent expenditure goes to show that you are more interested in propaganda than facts.

Secondly, i consider it the height of intellectual laziness and unimaginative propaganda for you to be asking me how lagos state spends its IGR as if the various projects in all sectors of the economy are not obvious to any objective observer to see. You probably are expecting me to list all the various completed and ongoing projects of the lagos state government here for you.

By the way, the current lagos state Monthly IGR as i type this is 20 billion not 30 billion.
if you want to do propaganda at least get basic facts and figures right.

FreeGlobe: why shouldn't keen watchers note that hardly do we see Fashola flag off any project anywhere in the media but every project he commissions is all over the media, what a fraud cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Fashola and Lagos media has swindled gullible Nigerians mentality with Private sector projects and PPP's, the over 30 billion naira monthly IGR is still untouched. what fraud!!!! grin grin
i suppose the masses of lagos state residents of all tribe and creed who trooped out enmasse in the last election to vote for fashola were swindled as well by the media.

Do the residents of lagos needs the media to tell them if their governor is working or not?
and if a governor is working the media should not report it?

When you mention lagos media, please tell us any media outlet in nigeria that has not acknowledged fashola's achievements in lagos ?

i have the impression that you are the big fraud here because you keep spewing one obvious lie after another.
