FreeGlobe: Asking for PPP's to be deleted will amount to 80% of 'Fashola projects' here to be deleted please lets leave it here. we must applaud Nigeria's Private Sector which has been conditioned to domicile in Lagos by govt policies for their intervention in lagos. The only way we can stop this fraudulent action of Fashola is to demand the that Fashola should from henceforth commission only state owned projects! cheesy cheesy
Lying with figures. Please can you quote the source for your 80% of fashola's projects being PPP.
Do you even know half of fashola's projects?
I think the problem is that some of you do not understand the place of vision in governance. PPP supplements government efforts. Indeed PPP will not invest in certain sectors enabling government to concentrate resources in such sectors. With PPP you win both ways.

If it is such a bad thing how come the PDP federal government have being trying to utilise it all these years with minimum success.

Afam4eva: As far as Infrastructural development is concerned based on the revenue that accrues to the states, i will rate Akwa-Ibom ahead of Lagos state. Though Lagos has equally done well when compared to previous governments.
You might as well say that there is no diffrence between a man who sends 10 of his upstring to private school and the one who has to send 100.
By logic the cost of providing public services for a population of 1 million is the same as the one required to provide for 10 million.

I don't want to guess what you scored in o levels economics. As for basic sociology, II do not want to guess either.

The fact that you can even capture all the roads just built in akwa ibom in a few snaps tells me that the guy has not done much. FASHOLA has built hundreds of roads , renovated hundreds on a yearly basis.
How many roads are you paying toll for aside from the lekki road?

cjrane: Fashola is a shameless noise maker. Like his average native Yoruba person. It is an insult to compare him to Akpabio that have been developing his state without any help from the Federal Government nor heavily taxing non-indigenes unfairly, only to deport them after using their tax money.

If the Federal Government of Nigeria had not built Lagos as Nigeria's Federal capital territory and in the process creating our present economic problems by the mindless spending of all our money earned in the oil boom days on Lagos infrastructure, instead of building sustainable industries around the country to help Nigeria develop in a balanced way . Lagos would have been far less developed than Ado Ekiti in spite of Fashola's noise making.

Let me ask you about the infrastructure the federal goverment built in lagos and the state of such infrastructures today. You seems to have forgotten that the ffederal capital moved away from lagos more than 25 years ago and that all this has nothing to do with the economic growth of lagos to what it is today.
Just small verifiable figures for you. In 1999, the entire budget of Lagos was 1 billion and the monthly IGR was 650 million. Today the budget of Lagos is more than 492 billion with a monthly IGR of more than 21 billion. So let me ask you how do you think this economic growth took place? More than 85 percent of lagos IGR derives from corporate capital tax and PAYE, so you were just being emotional when you stated that Lagos heavily tax non-indigene.
PoliticsRe: The Fashola Vs Akpabio Thread. by softwareman(m): 2:33pm On Sep 14, 2013
Goddex: Akpabio beats Fashola by miles. The Lagos media hype is Fashola's only tool. That is why if he provides street lights on Ikorodu road or Ipaja road, his illiterate foot soldiers will move it straight to front page for celeberation. Meanwhile, almost all of Uyo and Calabar are lit up with functional (I repeat "Functional"wink street lights every night and nobody is making noise about it. The Federal Govt's owned Abuja metropolis is almost entirely lit up every night with street light and GEJ nor the FCT minister has never mentioned that as an achievement. The rate at which my Lagosian brothers celebrate mediocrity these days surprises me.

Fashola's only major legacy project is Eko Athlantic city. Even that is being Co financed with private sector funding. He has also done a lot in road construction and despite the huge revenue base of Lagos state he has acquired so much debts for upcoming generations. But how does all that compare with Akpabio who is doing the following:

1) Free and Compulsory education

2) Ibom Power Plant

3) Akwa Ibom International Airport

4) Ibaka deep Seaport

5) Excellent quality road network around the lenght and breath of the state

6) 30,000 seater international stadium

7) Took practical steps to establish the Akwa Ibom state University
First, you started from a false premise: the cost of recurrent expenditure in Lagos versus the cost of recurrent expenditure in akwa ibom state.
Let me use simple analogy to explain: it is like comparing Libya with a population of 8m and nigeria with a population of 120 million, even if they have comparable resources, anybody that wants to do a comparative analysis of two things should understand that you have to establish clear benchmarks to do your analysis.
So I intend to do my comparison using recurrent and capital generally and then going beyond just roads and cover all areas of government services.
I also intend to provide proof in a subsequent post that akwa ibom has not implemented 30 percent of the infrastructure fashola has implemented in lagos. I will take you from education to health care delivery, to security to transportation, etc.

My first premise is however that the basis of comparison is not even there because no other state in nigeria has to contend with the peculiarity of lagos state and can be compared with Lagos, definitely not akwa ibom.

For example, and please you verify this,
the cost of maintaining health care in Lagos alone we build all the infrastructure in akwa ibom .
The cost of paying teacher s in lagos is more than akwa ibom total commitment for the entire akwa ibom in six months. The cost of maintaining federal roads in Lagos is fourty times the cost of doing same in akwa ibom
This is just recurrent expem

Now since you have provided of roads built by akpabio , let me then assume that you want to proceed from the premise of infrastru

tokunboh: Bro, can you please run a brief analysis of this map for the ignorant ones to understand. This map simply shows there are alternative routes our man, Amaechi could have taken. The Demi-god of confusion is out to do what he does best - confusion and distortion of facts.
So what if there was?
From the available facts, what is the compelling reason here that merits ordering the governor of a state to take another route? Is not as if PEJ was in town!
Ridiculous. You restrict a governor's movement when madame is in town and also when you want to seal up a building?

The real demi-god of confusion here is Jonathan.
PoliticsRe: Ameachi Denied Access To Govt House by softwareman(m): 8:01am On Sep 13, 2013
okpurukata: This is the only truth of the whole matter. The Governor usually uses the making gate into the govt house, which is on Azikiwe road. Why must it be today that there was fracas near that back gate, that he must pass through with the same team of his new PDP? Why look for trouble with open eyes. The streets around that back gate was blocked following the fracas earlier in the day. The governor is simply not above the law. He is just seeking sympathy. Not mine though.
You are begging the question. The governor can decide to use any route cleared by his chief security officer. It is the responsibility of the police to ensure that any route the governor decides to use is secured.
It is not the place of the commissioner of police to determine the route the governor takes and definitely not his place to prevent him from using a route for any reason whatsoever . It is even more ridiculous to think that police could not clear the route, allow the governor to pass and resume whatever they were doing before the governor came.
The issue here is that a lot of dangerous precedents are being created as a result of this river state crisis that some of you defending this unending streams of illegalities and irrationalities would one day come to regret.

I can understand why you jonathanians feel the need to support his every action: goof or bad, but crying out loud, this amaechi matter just goes to prove that this president is confused and daily getting dangerously desperate!

Simply asked to follow another route because the police was sealing up a party office? Is that the same as blocking the route of the governor? The more you try to provide justifications for this absolute senselessness the more ridiculous you sound. What you guys are failing to see is that when you create a precedence that evil may come back to haunt you later.

Sincere 9gerian: There's a lawful way of forming a faction. You cant just sit in your bedroom and form faction of APC or PDP. The lawful factionalization of a party must come from split of the existing national working committee. That is what the law says. It is immoral, wrong and illegal for some people to gather at a beer parlour joint and announce factionalization of a party. But being shameless hypocrites, you and your fellow goons celebrated the immoral and illegal act.
Please tell us the legal way to form a faction. Do you know? All the factions in the various state chapters of PDP how we're they legally formed? You mean they derived from a split of an existing of the state nwc? Please tell us where you got this from? Must you always indulge in this kind of lies and dishonesty just to defend jonathan?
The intellectual fraud you are seems to keep mixing up the issues. We are talking about a case of absolute abuse of police power here? Must they block a governor's route for any reason whatsoever? It is bad enough that Jonathan and the people misadvising him is abusing his powers, but blocking a governor route is taking power drunkeness and mindless irrationality too far!

Sincere 9gerian: You guys are just shameless hypocrites. How many of you cried foul when Amaechi and his gang of northern governors cloned the PDP and called it newPDP and sacked the PDP leadership? Is it constitutional to clone an already existing body? It seems what determines what is wrong or right depends on whose on the receiving end. If the president is on the receiving end (like the newPDP) you celebrate but when those on the other end are at the receiving (eg NGF election, Rivers crisis) you scream illegality.

I insist that the police has every right to stop the governor if what he's about to do will lead to break down of law and order. You guys forgot that president can declare state of emergency all over nation or any part of the country. When it comes to law and order or enforcing the law, extra-ordinary measures can be taken. I deal with FACTS, not sentiments. I also stated that if the reason for stopping the governor was not because of law and order or enforcing the law, then the police is wrong and those involved in the act should be sanctioned. That is my position
You are the shameless hypocrite and I will tell you why: did Jonathan and your pdp not back an illegal faction of PDP in anambra state? Are there not factions in almost all state chapters of PDP? And to your warped and diabolical way of thinking is that enough justification for blocking a governor route to the state house?
It seems to me that it is not only Jonathan that is suffering from acute schizophrenia dementia, most of you his apologists are fast losing your marbles as well.
PoliticsRe: Ameachi Denied Access To Govt House by softwareman(m): 9:24pm On Sep 12, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: Is that what the constitution says? If the governors entry into the govt house thru that route will cause break down of law and order, it is the constitutional responsibility of the police to prevent that from happening.
How can you be so stupid? A governor's entry to govt house through any route will cause breakdown of law and order? You know that if this true , it is totally indefensible. I thought you would just keep quiet instead of reinforcing the dominant impression here that you are paid to defend every action of the president, no matter how wrong headed and ridiculous.
PoliticsRe: Ameachi Denied Access To Govt House by softwareman(m): 9:12pm On Sep 12, 2013

If Gov Amaechi engages in acts that infringes on the laws, it is the constitutional responsibility of the police to call the governor to order. No sentiments. However, if the police acted unlawfully in this instance, then the president should sanction whoever was responsible.

Does it mean that you blind fellows, are ignorant of what the APC wants to achieve by their constant criticism on JEG government?
Constant criticism. I thought that was what an opposition party is supposed to do?

I think the problem you, and many jonathan apologist, have is that you think it is the role of opposition to spoon feed a government in power .

You are wrong. And I can understand why you would think so because since the advent of democracy in this country we have never had a virile and viable opposition at the center until now.

An opposition is a government in waiting and its major role, outside of planning a coup or treason, is to project the ruling government negatively and exploit its weaknesses and mistakes as much as possible.

It is a struggle for power and seriously there is nothing like constructive or destructive criticism or personal attack. Just look at how the democrats and the liberal press dealt with George bush jnr and the way the republicans and conservative press dealt with Bill Clinton and the way they are dealing with barrack Obama .

To me, the best thing that can happen to our democracy is a viable opposition party.
it keeps the government in power on its toes at all times.

You need to carefully study these jonathan supporters on nairaland and the way most of them think. Once you understand the way they think, you will see how predictable they are.

For me, i think the problem is that they see most criticisms of Jonathan from a faulty prism of ethnicity and religion. They also seems to misconstrue struggle for power amongst politicians negatively as well. Some of them do not really understand how opposition politics works even in the most civilized of democracies.

The problem with this kind of position is that it is very difficult to have a rational argument with such people.

That is why most times i ignore them because i understand why they sometimes rant so senselessly.

By a long margin, this presidency is the most divisive because no other president has ruthlessly exploited the ethnic and religious card as this president.

The reality is there is no consensus on the existence of so called zones. Northerners contested against Obasanjo when he went for his second term so there is no formal zoning arrangement that has been put before the public EVER. Any arrangement is purported, currently disputed and unverifiable

Please do not take my words for it. just watch jonathan's next three steps / actions and come back and tell me whether it will be consistent with that of someone who is now ready for a fight.

see. Jonathan does not have the kind of decisiveness and guts of an OBJ because he has never being his own man. most Jonathan actions depends on the advice of several people and sometimes this advice are diametrically contradictory so his fickle mindedness is always the outcome.
I will give you just one example: When the governor of sokoto state was suspended, many of the jonathan apologists on this forum engaged in the usual chest beating(as they are doing now) only for jonathan to retrace his steps some weeks later when the governor fought back.

omonnakoda: Did you see the agreement or did you sign.

There is nothing ike south in Nigeria . Which Zone ?
The so called zones are a fiction and fraud. If you want to talk of zones you must do a National conference. You hear Arewa all the time have you ever heard of a Southern Nigeria Political meeting. Did Southern Nigeria agree on Obasanjo?
There is not enough information to determine if the PDP practices zoning e.g in Delta state Ibori handed over to his cousin .Was that zoning. How did Yar'adua emerge was it by zoning if so share the evidence for this

That is the North's agenda, this whole talk of zoning. The North West and the East is the basis on which our Founding father agreed Independence. How can the North then decide to merge East and West. Which Ibo man or Ijaw man signe up to that arrangement. Please name them

One Aboki will just wake up one day and tell you there are 6 "geopolitical zones and there is power rotation from North to South Why not rotate from East to West.

The reality is power was ceded to Yoruba because of JUNE 12.
Any discussion of zoning should happen AFTER with very clear rules and agreement.
The position should be that after resolving the June 12 problem we press the RESET button.

e.g if we say power must rotate from North to South would it be acceptable to move power from Olusegun Obasanjo to Bukola Saraki huh
Power rotation cannot be agreed in the night it must be done in broad daylight
Honestly, i don't like engaging in subjective arguments.
if you say there is nothing like zoning and rotation in PDP , then you are entitled to your opinion.

if you say that the country is not basically divided into north and south with the north comprising of north east, north west and north central zones while the south is basically divided into south west, south east and south south zones ,you are also entitled to your opinion.

What is obvious is that all above are easily verifiable facts.it does not matter if anyone agrees with it or not.

As for the agreement i mentioned earlier, you are missing point. once we agree zoning and rotation exist in PDP, then you cannot accuse any group for agitating that it is their turn.

That was the point i was making.

The rotational agreement in the PDP is based on the north and south agreement. Please just check your facts. The zone it goes to is secondary.

The operative issue here is this: does PDP practice zoning and rotation, not only for the presidency but also for all elective offices?

If the answer is yes. Then you cannot say the northerners in PDP are bigots for insisting it is their turn. That is the angle am m coming from.
