"THE RULE OF LAW AND THE CREDIBILITY OF LEADERSHIP Still on the identity crisis and controversies that have continued to haunt the Nigerian citadel of power since the February 25, 2023 presidential elections.

There is this saying:
"IT IS NOT TITLES THAT HONOUR MEN, BUT MEN THAT HONOUR TITLES." The lofty titles that decorate people in power have little meaning if there is a hollowness and falsehood underneath them. Such titles which adorn those in public office mean nothing if they are not original and are fake if those who bear them have no honour to support the weight of the titles they carry.


In situations where there is public doubt as to the veracity and authenticity of these titles and the claims behind them, it is the judiciary's role, when called upon, to uphold the honour of the titles through transparent rulings.
Only through such judicial interventions can the public be protected from the tyranny of dubious and duplicitous characters and identity fraudsters.

In such situations, the judiciary has a bounding duty to protect society's value system. This is one of the obligations of an impartial judiciary in a democracy. The rule of law remains the lifeblood of democracy in all societies and by whatever definition across time.

With it, faith in democracy comes under threat as well. A society is endangered when the rule of the powerful and the rule of the rich and the mighty replaces the rule of law. When that happens, justice becomes a commodity to be traded between the rich and powerful and a cult of corrupt judiciary operatives.

When a democracy is based on faulty justice, it opens society to apparent dangers. Governments become subject to impunity and casual violations of the rights of ordinary citizens. The rich and powerful can trample on the rights of the lowly, as there are no consequences for infractions or lawless acts. This can be the groundwork for a democracy to graduate into an autocracy.

The reason Peter Obi attacked the integrity of our judiciary earlier today is because he has seen the handwriting on the wall.

The comments by Justice Okoro and his colleagues have shown that they have not been intimidated by the cyberbullies Mr Obi has rallied to himself. #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary failed to bully their lordships, and Mr Obi has resorted to these feeble attempts to muddy the waters.  Peter Obi will lose, and his appeal will be dismissed.

Coup baiting by warning that Nigerian democracy will be under threat if "the transparency of judiciary operatives is uncertain" is such a selfish thing to do.

Must Peter Obi burn the country down because he lost an election that even his home state Governor publicly told him he had no chance of winning despite jumping from church to church asking Christians to "take back your country" as if Nigeria belongs only to adherents of one religion, Peter Obi's attempt at Yes Daddily instigating "religious war" in Nigeria failed, and his attempt to subtly provoke a military takeover will also end in frustration.


Democracy is not threatened, and there will not be a coup in Nigeria over Peter Obi's appeal at the Supreme Court, should it be dismissed.  If Peter Obi has evidence that our judiciary is corrupt, let him boldly publish it, or forever remain silent and stop trying to set Nigerians against the bench.

The Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday sentenced the Medical Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Doctor Olufemi Olaleye, to life imprisonment for the defilement of his wife’s niece.

A video from our correspondent at the court shows the moment the doctor was ushered outside the courtroom after his sentence.

Justice Rahman Oshodi sentenced him after he found him guilty of the offence of defilement and sexual penetration of a 15-year-old girl.

The judge held that the prosecution was able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt and that all the evidence before the court corroborated that of the victim.

Olaleye was arraigned on two counts which bordered on defilement and sexual assault by penetration of his wife’s niece, preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.

A suspected Yahoo Boy identified as Collins has been arrested for killing and slaughtering his girlfriend identified as Justina along Road 15, NTA Road, Port Harcourt.

Collins was caught by his Estate’s Security personnel when he was trying to dispose her corpse after killing and extracting her eyes and br+asts.

Following the alarm raised by the Security personnel, eyewitnesses stormed the suspect’s apartment and found Justina’s slaughtered body parts in sacks dripping with bl%od.


Justina was a 300-level University of Port Harcourt student before her premature demise.

THE self styled #TableShaker, Reno Omokri took a swipe at former Head of State, Major-General Aguiyi Ironsi for enacting Decree 34 abolishing Regions in Nigeria.

Omokri who wrote the statement in his X handle monitored by SOJ WORLDWIDE, said the Decree set Nigeria back by 100 years.

He praised the laudable programs of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he added that but for Aguiyi-Ironsi, Western Region would have been better than Dubai.

"If Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi had not abolished regionalism and resource control on May 24, 1966, with his Decree Number 34, the Western Region of Nigeria would have been better than Dubai today. That act set back Nigeria perhaps 100 years backwards, and we have not recovered from it until today.

Even with Awolowo in prison since 1963, the Western Region was on automatic pilot and still outperformed every other region by 1966, when Ironsi ended regionalism, because of his policies, especially his Universal Free Primary Education, which was compulsory and non-discriminatory. It included free school feeding to all children in the Western Region, no matter where their parents came from.

The Awolowo Western Region government introduced university scholarships that were higher in award amount than the federal scholarships. Awolowo's scholarship not only paid your school fees, whether in Nigeria or abroad, but your parents were paid a stipend during the pendency of your scholarship.

Long before Barack Obama achieved the Affordable Care Act (ACA), on March 23, 2010, Chief Awolowo had universal health coverage in the Western Region of Nigeria for every child and persons under eighteen, irrespective of whether or not their parents were from the Western Region. He did this by establishing at least one hospital in every administrative division in the Western Region.

The Western Region also had the first television station in Africa, the Western Nigeria Television Service, to keep citizens informed, educated and entertained.

Chief Awolowo established the Western Nigerian Development Corporation, which helped Westerners establish businesses and turned present-day Imeja into the most industrialised part of Nigeria to date.

He set up the cooperative that ensured that as long as you were a farmer in the Western Region, the government would buy your produce as a last resort if you could not sell it.


Explaining why he committed himself to these policies, Chief Awolowo, on September 3, 1959, said:

"To educate the child is to lay the solid foundation for future social and economic progress: to provide health services is to combat diseases which are wasting on human resources and, therefore, reduce our productive potentialities.

The Government has, for these reasons, brought about the greatest social revolution in the history of Black Africa."

Some residents of Dolphin Estate, Lagos State, have been left in shock after a python was found and killed in the area.

An X user, #Realolaudah, shared the story on Monday and stated that residents have been left confused and afraid following the discovery.

The post read, "Since last night, when a python was killed in Dolphin Estate, there are so many questions begging for answers, anxieties, uneasiness, and fear amongst some residents. A snake this big!

"We decided to dig further to get a narrative that made sense as to why it happened.

"The property is occupied by a known young man. He is not around, but his driver is around, and he sleeps in the BQ.

"The next house to this particular house keeps pet dogs. The dogs are many as they reproduce. The owners of the dogs have noticed over time that whenever the dogs gave birth, some of the puppies just went missing without any trace. Out of 8 puppies, they would see four puppies.

"Behind those stretch of houses in the Estate is the SSS Quarters with large grounds, bushes, and a canal.

"The driver was in the BQ with a weak ceiling where the snake came to and fell. It immediately curled up and raised its head at the center in readiness to attack.

"The owner was notified that there was a snake in his house that no one could kill because it was ready to attack. The owner called his friend in Parkview Estate, who has a shotgun with a license. He came from Parkview, shot, and killed the snake.

"It was also reported that several cats that loitered in ceilings have been missing.

"Reasoning: The snake came to fetch the cats and dog puppies to eat. It is not the first time, but last night became its last.

ONE of the gunmen suspected to be a member of the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) was arrested by the security men in one of the South Eastern States.

When Hamas fires rockets at Israel, advanced warning detectors set off alarms in targeted neighborhoods, civilians flee to an extensive network of bomb shelters, and the vaunted Iron Dome system works to intercept projectiles in the air.

But in Gaza, none of those high-tech defenses were available to protect Maisara Baroud, 47, when his apartment building was hit by Israeli airstrikes Monday night. The only thing that saved him and his family: A neighbor yelling from the street.

The neighbor received a call from Israeli military, giving him a heads up that a strike at a nearby residential building was imminent. Still, the neighbor told Baroud and the 15 other family members living in Baroud’s building – including nine children – to get out.

The first strike wrecked most of the six buildings on the block, including Baroud’s.

“My building was no longer livable – it was a skeleton of a house left,” he added. “The doors were destroyed, the building’s exterior walls were all gone, the windows shattered.

Still, Baroud and others assumed the worst was over and headed back into the building to salvage their belongings. Minutes later, the neighbor received a follow-up call from the Israeli military that a follow-up bombing was coming, and the families fled again.

A second strike destroyed Baroud’s home, reducing his building and his art studio to rubble.

This is the reality for Palestinians living in Gaza without the protection of a robust civil defense infrastructure. With no air raid sirens or bomb shelters, the more than 2 million Palestinians living in the besieged territory – half of whom are children – rely on rare phone calls or text messages from the Israeli military to alert them of imminent strikes.

“In Gaza, we don’t have anything…you have nowhere to go, no bomb shelters, no refuge, you are in the street,” Baroud said. “If you’re lucky enough to even get an alert to tell you to get out of the house, you leave saying, ‘Thank God.’”

The lack of protection serves as a stark contrast to the civil defense systems of Israel, which has faced intense barrages of rocket fire from Hamas in recent days. Israel boasts elaborate and technologically advanced capabilities – ranging from early radar detection to the Iron Dome – meant to protect its civilians in the event of an attack.

In Gaza, the call or text alerts are far from guaranteed and – at most – give residents a few minutes to evacuate. Often, it’s just a guessing game.

The lack of civil defense has also affected international humanitarian and medical workers, who are faced with sporadic, momentary notice of Israel’s counterattacks.


A post from Doctors Without Borders on Tuesday noted how some of its team members in Gaza receive a text message in the middle of the night telling them to evacuate their homes.

“You have to wake up your children in the middle of the night and leave your house, without taking any of your belongings,” the post said.

Dr. Barbara Zind, a US-based pediatrician in Gaza on a medical mission, was speaking to CNN Tuesday about being stranded in the area when her interview was interrupted by loud bombings outside her hotel. Asked if she could seek safe shelter, she responded: “There are no bomb shelters here.”


Warning phone calls from the Israelis also are more likely to be missed in Gaza because of rolling blackouts. The territory’s only power station ran out of fuel Wednesday and stopped working, this after Israel ordered a “complete siege” and cut off access to food, fuel, water and electricity.

Israel, however, has invested heavily over the years in its civil defense systems to protect civilians from rockets and mortars fired by Hamas and other militant groups in the region. Its elaborate and technologically advanced capabilities are meant to protect its people and minimize harm in the event of a rocket attack.

Azriel Bermant, senior researcher at the Institute of International Relations Prague, says Israel is “very strong and well-organized” on the civil defense front.

“It’s about saving lives, it’s about strengthening morale, it’s about reducing pressure on the government to send in ground forces,” Bermant said. “If the government knows that the public is protected, especially in a war situation, they feel the public will support the government in what it does.”

Crucially, the Israeli Defense Forces has developed early warning systems that sound sirens whenever rockets are fired towards Israel. These warning systems are able to calculate the location where a rocket is projected to land and set off a siren in the targeted area, often giving residents advance notice to find shelter.

Civil defense capabilities are also built into the infrastructure of Israel. Israeli law requires all homes, residential buildings, and industrial building to have bomb shelters. These shelters prove crucial to protect Israelis when warning sirens go off – providing the public with safe and fortified locations to hide from incoming rockets.


Israel also possesses key active defense measures. The most notable is called the Iron Dome System. Deployed in 2011, the Iron Dome is designed to shoot down incoming projectiles. It is equipped with a radar that detects rockets and then uses a command-and-control system that quickly calculates whether an incoming projectile poses a threat or is likely to hit an unpopulated area. If the rocket does pose a threat, the Iron Dome fires missiles from the ground to destroy it in the air.

Bermant said when it comes to missile defense, “there’s no question it saves lives,” and that it also can act as a deterrent.

The system isn’t foolproof, however, and when the volume of rockets fired by Hamas comes in intense barrages, it decides which pose the greatest threat to urban areas and infrastructure and targets those. Some rockets get through.

Additionally, Israel has several public awareness campaigns that are intended to educate the public on best practices in response to air raid sirens – such as where to go, how much time one has to find cover, and what to do if there is no readily available safe site.

With far less resources, Gaza hasn’t built anything comparable to the Israeli defense systems. While Hamas has constructed a network of underground tunnels for its fighters, it hasn’t invested in civilian shelters or warning networks.

Gaza has been cut off from the rest of the world by an Israeli blockade of Gaza’s land, air and sea dating back to 2007, with tight restrictions on the movement of goods. It has been described by Human Rights Watch as the “world’s largest open-air prison.”



“The disparity is primarily because of the blockade, which has really undermined Gaza’s infrastructure,” said Tareq Baconi, board president of the Palestinian policy network Al-Shabaka. “All entry of goods, all the resources that might be used to build that kind of a system are curtailed.”

The lack of defenses has left civilians like Baroud living in fear. As he examines the ruins of his building, he said he’s left wondering why his home was hit.

“I keep asking myself why? … There’s no point in asking why.”

Operatives of the Lagos Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, arrested two suspected internet fraudsters at House F10, Victoria Crest 4, Lekki, Lagos.

The suspects: Udemba Chukwuemeka (a.k.a Jody) and Jamal Jamiu Onasola (a.k.a. Jamal) were arrested at the residence of a musician: John Njeng Njeng (a.k.a Skales).

The two suspects, suspected of being involved in dating scam, described Njeng as their " mentor". While Chukwuemeka has been in Njeng's residence for two years, Onasola has only stayed there for few months.

They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

She said a dreaded hair and fair complexioned guy took her to a hotel from the Depot for N5,000 fee and had carnal knowledge of her after which he dropped her with a black Camry car.

Chicago State University said it has found several certificates after diligent search matching the replacement certificate which President Bola Tinubu presented to INEC in 1992.

The school made this known in its response to Judge Nancy Maldonado’s order that it supply the documents wanted by Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.


The unearthing of similar certificates has taken the sail out of Atiku’s fishing expedition to Chicago.

The School said after diligent search of its archives, it has found at least three certificates matching the replacement certificate which President Bola Tinubu presented to INEC in 1992.

Atiku in his Request No. 3 wanted: “True and correct copies of any diplomas issued by CSU (other than to Mr. Tinubu) that contain the same font, seal, signatures, and wording (other than the name of the recipient and the specific degree awarded) as Contained in Exhibit C to the First Liu Declaration, which purports to be a CSU diploma issued to Mr. Tinubu on or about June 22, 1979”.

The school responded: “The documents responsive to this request which CSU, after diligent search, has been able to locate are produced herewith and Bates labelled CSU 0008 through CSU 0010.

“The students’ names on these diplomas have been redacted for privacy
reasons.

“CSU is also producing, Bates labelled as CSU 0011 and CSU 0012, diplomas prepared for other CSU students (with their names redacted for privacy) which match the format of the Tinubu replacement diploma dated June 27, 1997.”

On Atiku’s request that the school should produce a copy of Tinubu’s certificate issued in 1979, the school maintained its position that it does not keep copies of students diplomas, talk less of the one issued in 1979.

“CSU does not in the ordinary course keep copies of student diplomas, and after diligent search cannot locate a copy of the original diploma it prepared for Mr. Tinubu in 1979, hence has no documents responsive to this request”, deposed Michael D. Hayes, counsel to the school.

In going on a fishing expedition to Chicago’s Great Lakes, Atiku wanted to push the point that Tinubu did not attend the university and that he forged the certificate.

The search appears now to have collapsed.

Hayes also said as requested by Atiku, Jamar C Orr has certified all the documents.

Atiku’s request: “True and correct copies of any CSU documents relating to Mr. Tinubu that were certified by Jamar C. Orr, Esq., including without limitation, the documents in Exhibit D to the Uwais Declaration, and all Communications to or from CSU concerning the certification of such documents by Jamar C. Orr, Esq., during the period August 1, 2022 to August 1, 2023”.


Hayes: “The responsive documents certified by Mr. Orr are produced herewith and Bates labelled CSU 0013 through CSU 0032. CSU’s prior objection to the Communications aspect of this request was sustained by the Court (see Doc. 40 at pp. 28 -29 and Doc. 54 at p. 32), hence no documents responsive to that subject are being produced”.
