Eke40seven: Haba! emeka55, Honourableseyi speaking the mind of many of us? I don't agree with that o. I have talked to some of our contributors here in private and I must confess they have nothing less than glowing remarks for your efforts. Look at the number of 'likes' your comments get to understand what am saying. You of all people should understand that this is NAIRALAND and these clashes are inevitably bound to happen. If one wants to DO GOOD and expect no stumbling blocks and challenges especially when dealing with faceless people then that person is delusional. I remember reading my first posts on this thread and saw all the invectives and attacks I got, however, I didn't see it as a deterrent but i adjusted appropriately, went forward to offer the little that I knew not because of the cash I will be paid or anything but because I have also gained from other people's selfless efforts and it will cost me nothing to humble myself. In essence, what am saying is that these clashes should not deter you to contribute if truly you want to because misunderstandings are bound to happen, even amongst best friends, lovers and family members and that doesn't mean you abandoned them. If you are going to follow the same path which some of your fellow 'OGAS' in Germany walked by avoiding the thread because of petty ego, then have it at the back of your mind that you were once like many of the newbies here asking questions and refreshing every minute hoping for somebody to answer your questions. Moving over to Germany should not make one a superhuman overnight neither should it make somebody here in Nigeria still struggling for admission less human but it should rather make you an inspiration to others. I believe God put us in a certain positions to inspire others. Am not going to 'beg' or dissuade you but I believe you know the right thing to do and I trust that's what you will do. Good luck. @eke47 have been reading through your post on this thread. And must confess that you have a striking, catchy personality .I hope your friend here appreciates the heavenly wisdom in this your post |
Health › British Nurse Who Caught Ebola In Sierra Leone Plans To Return There. by SOLARPOWER1(op): 9:33pm On Sep 17, 2014 |
British nurse who caught Ebola in Sierra Leone plans to return there William Pooley, the 29 year old British nurse who recently got treated of the Ebola virus which he contracted while working as a volunteer nurse in Sierra Leone, says he plans to go back to the country to continue working there and help other victims. Speaking with UK Guardian, Pooley said;“While I’m happy to be recovered and alive, there’s a lot of stuff on my mind with what’s going on back there. It would be relatively safe for me to go back and work there, and it’s really the least I could do havingreceived all this amazing care and have people look after me and potentially save my life. It’s the least I could do to go back and return the favour to some other people, even just for a little while. The more help they get, the less chance there is they get sick.” he said. His mother, Jackie, also supports his wish to head back to Sierra Leone“We would want him to go back, notas an individual but with an organization of some kind so he’s got the backing. Obviously in a way we don’t want [him] to, but I can seeI would feel very proud of him if he decided he was going to, because he knows what it is going to be like,”she said. |

Romance › Re: How Do I Advice Her.......my Younger Sister Thinks She Is In Love. by SOLARPOWER1(m): 6:15pm On Sep 08, 2014 |
marveangel: My immediate younger sister and I are very close...like super close.....I'm about 6 years older than her but we're pals....we talk about almost everything...We have other siblings~ elder ones but we not as close to them as we are to ourselves...She's the last and only female child in the house. On friday, out of the blue she just dropped it on me that she is in love.....I was still raking my head thinking of how to advice her to take the whole love thing one step at a time.....I didn't know she was about to drop another bomb.... last night after saying our night prayers she came into my room grinning....I asked whatz up...she sat on the edge of my bed and said 'I said Yes'......I was like yes to what....she smiled again even laughing....'I said yes to the guy that has being asking me out'. I felt strange!!!.........I just smiled and said cool....big girl. But this morning I woke up and am afraid for her..... Could she really be in love How am I sure dis is nt anoda sharp guy putting things in her head....How could she be certain its love...she's just 19......what should I do guyz..I am sincerely concerned for my sister...how do I help her avoid a heartbreak. Your only strong weapon to refrain ur sister from this evil that u envisage which she can never see especially now when REASON could be very far from her while she is basking in the euphoria of EMOTIONS is the word of God. Op dont make the mistake of getting angry with her or applying force else she will start hiding things from you. First of all u must sit her down and whole heartedly express ur fears to her. These questions could be helpful. (1) When do they intend to get married in this their relationship? She must understand that because God hates heart break, marriage is the only excuse for any christain relationship. At their age I know the both of them wont have answers to this question that most assumed matured people dating cannot answer. As far as the BIBLE is concerned (Reference to Mary and Joseph), relationship should primarily be with a goal of marriage in mind. (2) Ask her to list three values that this relationship can add to her life. If there is any, show her how those values can be obtained independently. Check out her friends, they are influencing things behind the scene. She must learn to dictate the pace of things in her own life... |
Education › Re: Respect First Class Students In Public Universities by SOLARPOWER1(m): 6:42pm On Sep 06, 2014 |
FrancisTony: Why should they be respected when what most of them do is "la cram, la pour.
What should be respected is what they achieved in life not ordinary paper award.
You don't expect me to be respecting someone with 1st class in EEE when he hasn't achieved anything meaningful to the society.
Wole Soyinka made 2.1 in University and he is being respected today for what he has achieved in life not paper certificate. You dig?
EDITED- I have a secondary school classmate who always score high in every subject. Her result percentage is always a way higher than second position.
She always hit 92, 93 in Physics and Chemistry exam added with test but during Physics and Chemistry practical(s), she fumbles.
Nigerian education is solely based on theory and little or no practical. So, First class should be disregarded except what you are able to reproduce in labour market. Kapish? Young man, I agree with your arguement on cramming. But u should know that it is not possibie to cram without first understanding the basis especially in a Engineering related courses. Cramming is just for some unclear points. So respect people that come out with good results. If it was easy everybody would have crammed their way to achieve it. WE AFRICANS MUST LEARN TO GIVE HONOUR TO WHOSOEVER DESERVES IT. |
