Go to another bank and ask. I think the bank you are trying to pay from don't understand what you are trying to do. I find this annoying whenever I come back to naija, customer service is awful.

Call the school and ask for that. I don't think we use IBAN no here in canada, I've not heard of it. If you don't suceed, post again and I'll try and see if I can get my friend that works in a bank to help.

I don't understand how people can believe in God and I have one simple reason over all my other reasons why he doesn't exist. People say God's love is unconditional, he even killed his son (who was really himself) for us to all be forgiven? But isn't that in itself a horrendous and horrible act? If God loved us so much, why does he punish us rather than lead us down the right road? Why do hundreds of people die everyday by things they cant even control like starvation, thirst, slavery abuse and everything else on the list? Why are little children who haven't even had a chance to be born into the world and discover God born into poverty or genocide? Like what the hell? You love us so much yet you decide since Eve ate a damn fruit, we all suffer.

That's just one set of people's god though that you are referring to. I don't go as far as saying that God doesn't exist, although I don't live my life as she/he does. I am consider myself agnostic because arguing that God doesn't exist just gets you into a dumb loop arguement with religious folks.

The only French speaking part of Canada is Quebec. Cost of living is cheaper there than in Toronto, being bilingual will give you an edge in HR almost anywhere in Canada.

I have a conundrum selecting between Memorial University (Oil and Gas Engineering MASc), Dalhousie University (Chemical Engineering (Courses based on Petroleum studies)) and Regina University (Petroleum System Engineering)

Comparing Limitations of Oil and Gas Engineering MASc in Memorial to Chemical Engineering (Courses based on Petroleum studies) Msc in Dalhousie, do you think this Oil and Gas Engineering doesn't keep you in a box.
Some people are of the opinion that degrees such as OIL and GAS ENGINEERING are designed for Internationales exclusively and may weigh less 4 diversity sake. Their opinion though.
i Have admissions in both and I was hesitant on NL cause I felt Chemical Engineering degree covers both on broader range and recognition.

I agree with you that programs like oil and gas or petroleum does put you in a box compared to chemical eng. However, since you already have your bachelors, you might be able to afford to specialize. What bachelors degree do you have?

I understand the need to make money, but you're not going to crazy money while in school. Its just going to be supplementary income, so worrying about that now does not really help you. Things will probably be different than whatever you hear.

It depends who hires you. I would guess it'll range from 12 to 15 dollars an hr on a 40 hr work week. Don't quite understand the concern with pay if it's only a 4 month term.

My field urban planning and design. My program is a one year graduate cert in GIS- geospatial management and I have about a year work experience in town planning.

It will be competitive to get a job but if you just gotta be prepared. If you get hired by any level of the govt, then pay will be good.

Actually depends on what you are doing. What kinda job are you being offered? Could be that and even up to double that wage, depends on what type of job

Did the school offer you a chance to work on campus? They should tell you the pay. It's usually around minimum wage for whatever province you are in

i just got my letter of acceptance to university of winnipeg to study sociology, want to know if there is job opportunity there, and what is my chance of getting PR after my study, i will like to stay in canada....

To be honest I don't know much about liberal arts job market. I would think it'll be hard if you are not close to the one of the top students.

My honest opinion is that people should go into practical fields like even plumbing, welding and other trades before going into this like sociology. Exception goes for people that are very passionate about those liberal arts, then you should follow your heart. Don't get me wrong, studying anything in Canada is still better than not doing anything. So if you have that offer, take it and I hope you get to stay in Canada.

What does it take to invite someone- like cost and other requirements? How long does it take to be processed? I would love to live in CA. They travelled to CA in March 2013 with a family visa.

I think that should be something your sister and her husband should be trying to find out if they want you to come over. They can figure that out easily depending on their situation.

Not in the same sense as Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. It's still a decent size city, read about it online. How do you know you even want to live in Waterloo, you might decide you want to live and work somewhere else after, maybe an even smaller city.

Literally anywhere that is not a major city but that's just a worst case scenario. There are still opportunities in the major cities. Go over the first hurdle before you start worrying about jobs. You are still some ways away.

If you get into Waterloo, you will not have a problem finding jobs in this field. You might have to move to a more remote city, but with your experience and your Canadian education, you'll do well.

What are the steps to excel in Canada as an Engineer?

A couple of my friends are in mechatronics engineering which I think is similar to your field. Do you have some work experience? To be honest Nigerians degrees are not worth much here but with you a bit more education like your planning you'll be fine. With manufacturing not booming as it used to, the field is a bit more competitive but not a lot of people can do your job so I think you can find jobs. Just get here work hard and have good people skills. No one wants to work with an annoying guy. You'll be fine.

There are always jobs for software engineers but you gotta know your stuff. Software engineering is very innovative so you can't bullshit your way through an interview or job. The pay is very good, which means enough to live comfortably.

Hey guys,
Good to see some people are interested and working hard to come to Canada. I was born in Nigeria, but I grew up here in Toronto and also went through high school and university here (I've spent most of my life here but still visit naija yearly). Since I did not come through a study visa program I might not be able to of much help with applications but I might be able to give you some advice on things like the city, province, country, school life, work life and culture. I am an engineer aswell, I noticed a lot of people here are applying for engineering.
