What if the passport is about expiring and one renews his passport, it is necessary to update it as well?
You can send a CSE with a scanned copy of the new passport bio data page stating reason{s} for having a new passport.

Mr Solomon,

Can I start applying for job from my job profile? Or what else am I to do after creating a job profile.

Thanks
Yes, you can start applying for jobs. You can set up a job alert in your profile, this will send information to your email once there are jobs matching your profile.

Hello Damkollins and Solowise. Just want to re-iterate that I sent a CSE to Accra(INFORMING THEM OF MY CHANGE IN JOB). Since the past 2 months I have not gotten a reply, except the automated response. You guys adviced that I should relax in as much as I've sent a querry to them. I'm I to still relax?
I will advise you send a reminder via CSE.

They might not respond but I assure you all your emails go into your case file. The information contained is noted and they will work on it once your file is opened.

JesusDWay:
It's not a mistake, the point grid still stands, it's like an initial assessment that filters applicants before they can enter the EE pool and crs score can then be applied to their details. You can check cic website to confirm
Listen buddie, leave the job of the CIC agents for CIC agents.

You might want to refer to the below:

If you meet all the conditions set out in the minimum requirements, we will assess your application based on the selection factors in the federal skilled worker points grid

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

That you score 67/100 is not a guarantee of "initial selection or filter into the pool".

Let me break it down for you to understand.

Age (and this is just one out of many) - It is a completely different ball game calculating age under the old FSWP using the grid and the CRS. I maintain you don't give a false hope.

Using the grid might give an impression you will automatically enter the pool and "be selected" once you get the 67/100 pass mark. This is entirely false based on EE. Using the CRS calculator will give you your real stance under EE.

Once you keep preaching the 67/100 grid, you start limiting people's ability to enter the pool as both are completely different.
There is no pass mark under EE (so preaching 67/100 will give this impression). Allow CIC agents use the grid (if you like) and encourage people to calculate or determine their stance using the CRS calculator here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp
That more or less takes them directly to have the true reflection of their stance.

You can score 67/100 (creating an impression that you have a "pass mark"wink yet score as low as 285 which is extremely low under CRS.
Remember, again under EE there's no pass mark. Once you have that at the back of your mind, you stop being a champion and go to sleep. You'd rather find all ways possible to be atop the rank using CRS thereby improving your chance for an ITA.

Again, using the grid does not in any way factor in the points you get if and when you secure a qualifying employment or a provincial/territorial nomination.

Another angle you also have to look at is, the essence is not to have a "pass mark" or to "just be in the pool" but to be selected for a possible ITA. Hence, the point grid is useless when you don't get selected eventually. What guarantees your eventual selection for a possible ITA is your ranking in the CRS. So, why not go all out for CRS instead of looking for "pass mark" which is non-existent (under EE) anyways? It is extremely possible to be very high in rank under CRS and get selected but having 67/100 minimum pass (or even higher than 67/100) mark only guarantees (or so it seems) your being in the pool but does not guarantee your possible selection for ITA.

Lastly, that you are in the pool using the 67/100 grid does not in any way say much about your application. You might be in the pool, maybe at the bottom and remain there for as long as you keep having the "Afterall I have the 67/100 pass mark" at the back of your mind and if you don't get selected after a period of time, you will be automatically out of the pool.

It makes no much sense therefore to keep preaching the 67/100 pass mark grid. Leave it for the CIC agent to work with. In reality, it makes no sense (to prospective applicants) and it create a false impression.

You will succeed in making an impression that once you can scale the 67/100 as it used to be under FSW, you are automatically "qualified" under EE. This is completely false.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomonwis(op): 9:19pm On Mar 18, 2015
JesusDWay:
Its pertinent everyone who is applying knows that you are first ranked on a scale of 100 for FSWP. The 100 is divided between six selection factors like English test, age, experience, education, adaptability and arranged employment in Canada. You must get a minimum score of 67/100 before you can qualify at all to enter express entry. Out of the maximum score of 24 you can get for English test, your score is 18, though your result falls in the required CLB 7, its not sufficient in your case. Also, if you are going to be above 35 this year, your points for age will also drop out of the maximum 12 you can get. Finally, if you quoted less than 18,210CDN as your available funds, you wont be eligible. In all, you MUST!!!!!! re-write IELTS and ENSURE!!!!!!!!!!!! you score not less than 7.5 in listening, and not less than 7 in the remaining segments if you are still interested. You can google 'six selection factors - federal skilled workers', study that page and you will be able to calculate your score by yourself
Is this on Express Entry or the old FSWP? You need to make clear this clarification so you don't keep making the same mistake and spreading this all over.

This appears to be the grid with which FSWP used to be calculated. The EE is completely a different ball game. The calculation is based on CRS. For your information, there's no minimum score (or pass mark which used to be 67/100 under FSWP) under EE. You might want to read this up for details http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

Regarding Biadroit's issue, if the maximum number has been reached, why would he be issued a UCI?

Don't you think his UCI counts towards the maximum number reached?

Cheers.
UCI is issued once your file comes under processing (as it as the case with @Biadroit). It doesn't necessarily signify a positive outcome.

Pls I need urgent help from solomon wise and damkollinsnd anyone that can pls help me. My application was received (2145 - petroleum engineering ) . But it was posted back and it had a letter that the money order was stale more than 6months, the whole document was ticked ok and the calculation of fee was even done on the left hand coner, the IELTS where verified and the ECA too as copy of the verification was printed out cos it came with the returned document, UCI was given as 92473640, and ticked ok and every other things where actually ticked ok, they wrote R10WMQ, NO rep,MI12-NOC, PA550, SP 550,they shaded the date on the date on money order. The money orde was purchased from canada and prior to using it I made enquiries and was told that money orders don't expire on like bank draft . And on their site it was stated that payment instrument from issued outside canada has 6mnths expiry date! So y say my money order is stale is it possible that the officer that treated it made a mistake? But my main question is that I was told by my relative in canada who works with CIC that am suppose to resend it with a proper new draft or card payment. Pls I need your kind help damkollins, solomon sis and all. Very many tnx
Sadly,it looks like you are out of the FSWP race.

It's confusing though that your relative in Canada who works with CIC is giving you a false hope/assurance. You will need to gain reasonable assurance that your relative is giving you the information correctly.

As at the last check, the maximum number of 25,000 cap for 2014 FSWP has been reached.

Hello Everyone,

I need an advice from you. I actually am planning to put in for the Express Entry this year. I have done IELTS (SCORED 7.5) and presently processing my WES ECA. I also have applied to schools in Canada. Got admission for a PG one year programme and also an MSC admission in view. This is my question. Can both application go side by side. I feel it might be a confusion since going to study implies i have a mind of coming back while going through immigration means i want to stay there. I am a BSC Graduate, 30 years lady, married with two kids. I have 3 years experience in Accounting. I have been to two countries (Dubai and LOndon) for a visit.

My question is can i apply for both?
The onus is on the applicant to prove beyond doubt that you will return to the country after your studies. However, your intention to apply (and subsequent application) for permanent residence might prove your ultimate intention.

Please send in your TRV application to further your education. Once you get the green light you can then create a profile on EE. Meanwhile, you can continue with gathering all the documents for EE.

Hello damkollins and co,

Application sent: Aug 2014
CC charged - Nov 2014
PER received: Dec 2014.

I got married in January and would like to inform Accra visa office about my new status. Accra website states that 'Permanent residence applicants should wait until you have received your file number (letter B followed by 9 digits) before contacting us, except to change your mailing address, change your e-mail address, change your immigration representative, or withdraw your application'. My challenge is that I am yet to receive a 'file number' although I was assigned a UCI and an application number when I received the PER email in December.

1) Can I use the Case Specific Enquiry (CSE) option on the CIC website and attach my marriage certificate as proof?
2) Or do I update Accra via email or letter quoting my UCI and application number?
3) What other document(s) do I need to attach? details of spouse? etc??

Thanks in advance for your advice.
No need attaching your marriage certificate. There are other forms you would be requested to submit alongside your marriage certificate.
Please send a CSE mentioning the fact that you recently got married and that you'd ;ike to include your spouse in your application.

Your liabilities are expected to be taken to cognizance in arriving at what you actually have a proof of settlement fund. Nobody runs a check on your liability except of course you've been asked to provide further details (which is a very rare occurrence). If you can't put a figure to your liabilities, please ignore it and leave it blank.

Unfortunately, you can not claim additional points with your relatives in Canada anymore with the launching of Express Entry.

Here, the higher your score points, the higher your chances of being selected. So, it will be beneficial if you can encourage/persuade your spouse to go for both language test and ECA.

If you however, decide to go for EE alone (without your spouse's ECA and IELTS), you might have to approach the provinces and prospective employers for nomination/sponsorship.

I really find it difficult to understand so many people who are "abroad" and will castigate all manner of people including the magnanimity of the host country for allowing you in and claiming citizenship.

If you are not at peace where you are, please go back to Nigeria. Nigeria is your own country not anywhere else! You can't complain wherever you are and still remain there, it doesn't speak well of a sane mind.

Truth is, it is not everybody that has had it smooth abroad neither can we safely conclude everybody "abroad" has had it rough. Even in Ghana, a former colleague who was transferred there complained of the treatment meted out to him by immigration officials who asked him for his work permit in the most ruthless manner. They didn't even allow him say nothing before he was bundled into their truck! In the end, he parted with a $200 bribe/fine. Hey, that's a black man to his fellow black man!

Historically, human beings emigrate and will continue to do so in search of peace (or if you will, greener pasture). Some will find comfort in the course of the sojourn, others won't! Painting an all pathetic story of "abroad" has not and will not stop this. In fact, some people (especially the adventurous ones ) are more receptive to these stories and will like to experience such.

The bottom line is, we all can't live in our own island pretending that other islands don't exist! Slavery or not, we all need one another.

Hello solomonwis,
My certificate of service carries the duration of my service with the company , my job title, my department ,and my staff cadre level.
My company says, it would only release more info about my service with them under confidentiality.
Can i use this as it doesn't contain info about my job responsibilities, and number of hours worked per week.
Your job responsibilities is the main reason for the request of your certificate of service. I don't think there should be any confidentiality in the assignments that you carry out except of course you are in some regimented organization (like the secret service).

Does your employment letter provide details about your job responsibilities? Do you have any official letter (letter of confirmation, Promotion letter, reassignment letter, etc) detailing your job responsibilities?

I am afraid if none if the documents that you possess shows your job responsibilities, it will be extremely difficult to assess your application positively. Please do all you can (even if it takes your direct supervisor to attest to your job responsibilities on official letter head or unofficial letter head with his/her complimentary card while you provide other details inclusive of the mail/letter provided by your company stating they'd only release your job details under confidentiality).
