German-Born Bundesliga Defender Switched Allegiance

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr already boasts a defence of William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun, and Semi Ajayi, but is set to add another top defender.

Rohr has never hidden his desire to lure former Germany youth international and Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma to the Super Eagles fold.

And it appears that attempt has met with success as confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation [NFF] president Amaju Pinnick in a chat with the Daily Sun.

“We have also resolved that anybody who wants to play for Nigeria must write to us to make some commitment,” Pinnick said.

“We don’t want to make the mistake we made in the past.

“Already, Kelvin Agboguma and one other have already written to commit their future to Nigeria.

‘’They know that Nigeria is a big country to launch anybody higher than they imagine.”

The tough-tackling centre-back was born in Neustadt to a German mother and Nigerian father and had represented hisb country of birth across various youth levels.

But the 25-year-old remained eligible to feature for the Super Eagles having never been invited to play for the German national team.

Rohr is silently but steadily moving Nigerian football forward. He may not be that big time coach we all dreamt but he is gradually accomplishing giant strides in his coaching career. I'm so happy for this switch.

The nff is so silly. After all what u put that woman through u offered her an assistant coach position with an order to drop whatever she is doing.

She is one of the best coaches we have had so far. She understands Nigerian football more than all these foreigners. She doesn't deserve such kind of treatment. Pinnick has not been fair to her. Even commanding her to leave whatever she is doing is an insult. NFF that owes salary anyhow.

I will miss Prince. The guy is an all rounder in so many vocations. His spoken English and confidence is also waowing. Ebuka better mentor him into acting and MC presentations. The guy is good

CAF postponed the u17 qualifiers for African teams. I even saw some rumour this morning that FIFA may cancel the u17 world cup as India are struggling with the pandemic. As for the u20, qualifiers are still set to take place as planned. As for NFF? Na only God know for them

Female football in Nigeria is gradually dying off. No coach for Super falcons up till now. Even the U17 and U20 female caretaker coaches have not been confirmed. Our poorly funded female league meant to act as a developmental process for the younger generation has been inactive even before the pandemic. Even with the pandemic, our football officials will now have a bigger excuse for prosponing the league. The future is definitely not bright for female football in Nigeria.

As for U17 female world cup in India, FIFA should just change the venue from Asia to another continent

Please has our U17 and U20 female teams pulled out of the the 2021 FIFA women world cup qualifiers? I learnt NFF wrote to the government about the qualifiers in September. Up till now no information

To be frank, Prince has a good command of English. I always love his presentations right from the darling presentation. He is good at what he does. When he leaves this house, he has great prospects.
