Nairaland / General / Good Bye Fear! A Motivational Video To Overcome Your Fears by solotutu(m): 3:36pm On May 23, 2020
"The fight of FEAR is the fight of DESTINY"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTjKHfdrMLc

If we avoid everything that makes us anxious it can hold us back and lead to more problems. Avoiding things we fear makes our fears get bigger in our mind. Facing our fears can help make us stronger.
Should I be scared?
Sometimes our imaginations can run away with themselves. That doesn't make the feelings this causes any less real, but we shouldn't let fear control our lives.
Are my fears based on fact, or just what I think might happen? Like fear of heights.

How to Face your FEARS?
Every time we face up to a fear, its hold over us gets weaker.

Take small steps
Think about how you could break it down into more manageable chunks.
If you're scared of crowds, for example, you could try finding a small crowd to be in for a little while - like a queue at a supermarket checkout. Then, you could move on to being in the lunch queue at school. Once you've accomplished that, you could try going to a bigger event.

Here are some steps you can try:

• RELAX, BE CALM
If you're in the grip of feeling scared about something, It's really hard to think clearly. Take time out to calm down - you could try a relaxation exercise.
•TALK ABOUT IT
Try talking about your fear with someone you know and trust.

IDENTIFY THAT FEAR TODAY and
say "GOODBYE FEAR" ️

Health / A Nigerian Engineer Fabricates Foot Controlled Hand Washing system. by solotutu(m): 6:57pm On May 21, 2020
As we all know Hand washing is one of the best ways to Prevent the spread of Corona virus.it is the simplest, cheapest and the most cost-effective method of preventing spread of diseases and especially Covid-19, But not everyone has access to running water at all times.

A Fabricating Engineer, Abiodun Olugbenga Johnson from Ogun state, Nigeria has successfully Fabricated a Foot controlled/ Pedaled hand washing System. The Machine which will be used in washing of hands at public places will help prevent the spread of the Corona virus in Nigeria’s largest city in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Around 157 million Nigerians lack access to proper hand-washing facilities, according to a 2018 report — making it very difficult to follow the World Health Organization advice on washing hands regularly to help prevent the spread of corona virus.

Engineer Abiodun who is a well experienced fabricating Engineer, has fabricated A lot of Engineering machines, designs of tools, doors, gates and Mini cottage containers with metals.
When asked what led to the fabrication of the system, He said "The inspiration came from my passion for Fabricating and building things", He said when he went to public places in Lagos, he only saw a small bucket of water and a soap dispense Bottle or sanitizer on a table which would not be sufficient for the number of people that visits, Markets, stores, banks and other public places Emphasizing on the risk of spread through the operation of the taps and soap dispenser using hands", he then decided to Invent a system to solve this problem after seeing some designs from other countries on the internet.
The "Foot controlled/Pedaled hand washing Equipment (F2020) as he named it has a Soap dispenser which has its separate pedal control and also the tap which is also controlled separately by matching of the pedal to get soap on the hands and then have the water running from the mini tank above the whole system. The F2020 hand washing system is constructed using metal parts and cut out welded together, and the pedals are constructed with a calculated mechanical design.

Engineer Abiodun who finished his Training as an apprenticeship in welding in Zaria at Basheer metal construction. He later proceeded to futher his education at Federal college of education and Ahmadu Bello university Zaria. He also has TRADE TEST CERTIFICATE 3, 2 and 1 and is government approved in welding.
He has worked with and offered his services to some companies in Nigeria - John Holt agricultural Engineering, Sunseed Nigeria plz, (oil mill Division) new Jos road Zaria, Nigeria Tobbaco company, now British American Tobacco Company (BATC) zaria, Construction Allied and Technical service (CATS) Ikeja Lagos, A. P. Moller Terminals, Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) Apapa, Lagos 7 and also Large and Grant Engineering services. Surulere Lagos.

He said constructing this system was his own contribution to helping the government and public in tackling the spread of Covid-19, and he encouraged the Government and other essential organizations and services to acquire his Invention.

This is so damn accurate. Just that our dressing that nairalanders are saying is the main cause of the incident is so wrong.
Im was on low cut, I wore white Vest and jugger pants. My friend wore a track suit trouser and polo. I wore sandals, he wore a Crocs slips Simple. TELL ME NOW IF THATS A DRESSING WORTHY OF SUSPICION FOR YAHOO OHH‍♂️‍♂️ ... I'm just pissed more now after reading people's comments, Only people who have experienced this will understand.

We all know the country we are in ...it's in NG the police is above the Law itself if you don't know. Do you think the ID card was not what was shown to them immediately they stopped and asked us to get off the bus. There were other corpers in the bus too coming from Ekiti. They showed their ID too and some were on their Khaki. This didt't stop them from doing their illegal acts.
Sorry to say that "show ID card, free pass" that was your time...now The ID card is not a free pass again, it's not respected as it should be.

If you read the whole NARRATION well you'll see that I said they ceased our phones. I had another phone but to take photos when you are right infront of the officer who is armed is that sensible...in a state you know nobody !?? Please it's too early in 2020 to be assaulted. Thank you.

The Nigerian Police should stop harrassing innocent Nigerians unless there is/are ample evidence that the person(s) involved commited a crime.

My Experience with Nigerian Police officers on my way to PPA.
A Real Life Experience as Narrated to closest Description.

So yesterday I and my friend who are graduated from EKSU who are NYSC corpers resuming in ENUGU for Posting from Ekiti state were stopped AT A CHECKPOINT by The NPF in the bus and one of us was accused of being a fraudster (Yahoo Yahoo) cos he carried a Laptop and there was tape on the webcam.

He was first suspected cos of his Looks. One of the most insane and annoying Reasons to accuse or suspect someone for fraud.
He was separated from all the passengers and our bus was delayed for 30mins everyone had to alight from the bus.

After denying or agreeing to their forceful advise to confess to what he didn't do. The driver of the bus was asked to drop his load.
And they ordered the bus to go. After paying bus fare and our Destination was still far away imagine such cruelty.

I agreed to stay with my friend and refused to agree with their claims. His phone was Seized and denied access to any of his things. I started to make calls but MTN network was so poor in the region, we were at UDI, FRSC Enugu.

I already knew all these was a ploy to extort money from us so I kept vouching for my friend and saying I can't leave him for them to carry on their threat to take him to EFCC office for questioning Without any evidence seen or gotten from their claim, It was a very messed up situation.

After few mins his load was put in their honda car and the Police in charge said they should take him to EFCC.

My friend agreed to accompany them since they started to talk aggressively and forceful.. note: they were armed and it's early 2020. We know what I'm trying to say.

So I went to talk to the officer in command to let us know how my friend can be freed from whatever crime they said he committed, he said my friend and the two other officers would settle it in the car, that any arrangement (bribe/ Extortion) he wants to do he should settle it with them. He said if my friend had agreed to their claim and not played smart he would just leave us to go (A ploy again for us to implicate ourselves) I was so furious inside me but I kept my cool.

They took my friend and were already driving when I refused to let him go alone the oga called them and said I should go with them.
I had already updated my NYSC group chat and asked people to start calling whoever they could to help us out. The Local Gov Inspector was msgd and called, but he was not answering calls, and the corpers were already active to solve the situation we were facing.

In the car the officer asked my friend to open his phone hoping to see any evidence but he found none. They searched even his bank alert notification and were probably disappointed.

He was allowed to make a phone call after much protesting so he called his mum, and explained what happened... She requested to speak to the officer and she did. She told them we are just coming from Ekiti state and that they should check us well and if there was nothing to say we were Yahoo boys we must be released. She told my friend she would start to make calls... That must have scared them.

We both kept our story straight and telling them that we are not fraudsters and by now they would have seen or gotten what they wanted. I explained that I was a photographer and A PR/ influencer and that our dressing or gadgets is not evidence of us as Yahoo boys. My friend also explained to them that he was a computer science graduate and webcams are usually hacked that's why the webcam was covered. By then they had driven us 20 mins away and passed their Police station already when they said we would pay 100,000 to clear ourselves that we have hidden all the evidence. Such bullshit!!! We told them they'll have to kill us to get the 100k that we came to Enugu to get cleared for the allowance from Fed govt.

The officer driving called the oga and spoke their dialect, I was sure he was saying that the ploy or operation was not successful and that we weren't Yahoo boys they wouldn't get any big payday money from us either ways. So I'm sure he was instructed to return, The car was turned around and we headed back to the checkpoint the Oga was waiting.

Well they got tired I guess and the Oga started to say that we must pay for the fuel in their car since we wasted their time... wow another stunner. Inside life.. I thanked God that my thinking and Jasi was like a marlian...

My friend paid 3,000 as bail/fuel money that's what they called it we were released. All this had happened and then calls started to come in. The LI called me to ask what was happening, I was just furious cos his call came in Late after all had happened. I just replied we had been released. He didn't even ask any more questions he just dropped the call. Mtcheewww.
My friend was pissed and frustrated. A bus was stopped for us and we boarded and left.

It's sad how things like this keep happening daily and in the face of the Government and
Top Officials of the Nigerian police force.
Unapproved Checkpoints of which the main purpose is not carried out.
- Unlawful stop and search of passengers based on appearances,
- - checking of people's phones without warrant or real evidence that the owner is a fraudster or Yahoo whatever.
- Brutal assault to unarmed citizens and youths without cause.
The List goes on and on. Something need to be done. And whoever is ready to do the right thing should start with the little they can do.

Your suggestions are welcomed.

First of all, I thank God almighty for His mercy, grace and favour over us as a state, people and government.
On behalf of the government, I thank our revered traditional and religious leaders, members of our party, the APC and indeed all politicians in Ekiti State, civil servants, civil society organizations, labour unions, farmers, artisans, and market men and women for the abiding support we have enjoyed over the past one year.
I thank Ekiti-kete most sincerely for your benevolence of this second term. My team and I appreciate and cherish your support, understanding, patience, endurance, suggestions, constructive criticisms and above all, your prayers.

You will recall that I gave the assurance during my inauguration that my agenda was to unify all Ekiti people irrespective of status, religious creed, and political affiliations. I did promise that my second coming would be used to heal the wounds of the past, calm fray nerves and galvanise our people along the path of economic progress and prosperity for all.
It is gratifying to note that the mood of uncertainty that pervaded our State when we took off is gradually giving way to optimism and strong belief in the capacity of government to provide purposeful leadership -leadership that serves as an enabler and a purveyor of rapid social re-engineering, economic prosperity and political stability- all within the space of one year.

The successful democratic transition that ushered in this administration last year has re-ignited the hope of our citizens. Our people are now conscious of the fact that the enthronement of good government that places their common interest above personal or parochial interest is the only way to truly enjoy good governance that guarantees better standard of living.
After one year of being in the saddle, again, evidence abound that we are, indeed, walking the talk, restoring values and enhancing impact. An account of my stewardship for the past twelve months will be rendered today and will be broadcast to you live from the hallowed chamber of Ekiti State House of Assembly.
I came back this second time to further reinforce our collective commitment to actualizing the Ekiti State of our dream. A State where the people would be able to deploy their intellectual resources in any chosen sphere for the collective good of the state without let or hindrance. A State where every man or woman, old or young, educated or illiterate, will have access to a fair share in its prosperity. A State that will accord every man and treat every resident with dignity. When I look back at the first 365 days in office, my heart is gladdened that a prosperous Ekiti State is springing anew from the ashes of the ruins of the past.

As your Governor, I derive my joy, from your feedback, which daily confirms that, indeed, Ekiti people appreciate how we are managing the commonwealth that they entrusted into our hands. Our modest but steady progress excites me.

There is relative peace and tranquillity in the State, and above all, our people are happier. This attests to the fact that we are on the right path. We are determined to sustain this trend and soldier-on meticulously to implement our restoration agenda headlong.

We are not unmindful of the fact that a lot still need to be done and would be done. We are, however, clear in our vision of a better tomorrow, a tomorrow that all sons and daughters of Ekiti State will be proud of, irrespective of political affiliations.
For the umpteenth time, I reassure you all that you are our treasured and greatest assets, and we are committed to treating you as such. I use the occasion of this first anniversary to rededicate myself to serving your best interests at all times.
As we continue to work towards the prosperous future of our dreams, permit me to congratulate all of us, not only for the time we have spent in government but also for the path we have laid, the milestones we have covered and for plans we have mapped out.

Once again, I thank you for your patriotism, and the courage you have demonstrated as well as for your unflinching support on our collective quest to make our dear state, Ekiti, a pride of all.

We are on the right path, making the best of the opportunity given to us and managing our collective commonwealth with best of intents, all in the paramount interest of Ekiti-kete and generations yet unborn. As the journey continues, we cannot do it alone, we are still counting on your support and tolerance, while we as the government will remain steadfast in our efforts at bringing more developmental programmes to you all.

God bless Ekiti State, the Land of Honour!
God bless Ekiti State Government!!
God bless Ekiti-kete!!!

Nigerian Police don't need any orders.... anywhere they see a riot, shooting practice don start be that

That's their MENTALITY and brain default it's crazy....the firstLady is suffering the results of the untrained and unprofessional conducts of the NPF who are protecting her....we all see how the NPF or The other arms of the NPF ESP FSARS and so on maltreat and harrass students...no one addresses all those issues

Wiifesnatcher:
Fuoye students are total disappointment. instead of protesting on the road why not passed the message to the school authority through the student union

megawatt drop from 7000 to 2886 megawatt shows electricity is a national problem. now they protested and allow the always rugged Oye youths to hijacked the protest. two promising youths gone, life lost because of some people ignorance

You should know that the school authorities don't have power to do anything at all!! In Nigeria is any CHANGE made with peaceful talk and process!?? ASK YOURSELF....moreover they said they started and ended the peaceful protest whatever happened after that wasn't the fault of FUOYE students...
Politics / Re: "As A Mother, I Cannot Order Police To Shoot At Students"-Erelu Bisi Fayemi by solotutu(m): 5:14pm On Sep 11, 2019
For every ACTION THERE IS A REACTION! The NIGERIAN students would not go violent or retaliate if they were not attacked or their safety threatened!!!

Who attacked who first!? Then who fired the shots!?
NigerianPoliceForce! As always they can't keep peace, calm an unrest or keep order without firing their AK 47 or Gun!

The FIRST LADY IS NOT TO BLAME THE NPF IS.... She isn't that heartless or dumb to say fire your guns if they don't clear the road!? The OVER ZEALOUS SECURITY DETAILS ARE TO BLAME with no training or mental judgement to handle anything related to protest or unrest.. all they know is to shoot

Bacteriologist:

But the government that failed to provide the "welfare" to the students despite receiving exorbitant fees isn't crazy, right?

What kind of a country is this? Where asking for your right is termed crazy.

EKSU for example hasn't had power on campus/off campus hostels since 2015. Yes, you read that right. No spark of PHCN light in an area of some 10,000 nigerian students since at least 4 years ago.

Sick of living a country where this is termed normal.

FUOYE even still have light EKSU it's over 6years now no light and I just heard the fees have been increased again!!! How can a state school not have Power supplied to the students who pay fees to study!?? It's absurd...

Literature / Interview Session With Mr Gentle Eyisi, The Author Of "The Darkness A Rope" by solotutu(m): 1:21pm On Mar 07, 2019
So Last week our Creatv PR and media personnel had an Exclusive interview with Mr Gentle Eyisi for his newly released Book,
MR gentle who is A Nigerian Author, a life coach, speaker. A graduate of law from Igbinedion University.

INTERVIEWER : Can we know you sir?

Mr Gentle: My name is Rare Gentle Eyisi, a life coach, speaker and author. A graduate of law from Igbinedion University, alumnus of Daystar Leadership Academy Lagos & The Coaching Academy London UK. I believe in the greatness of Nigeria; I believe that African youths must rise & release the greatness trapped in this continent. My hobbies are writing, speaking, traveling & listening to cool music.

INTERVIEWER: What inspired you to write this book & what are your reasons?

Mr Gentle: I was inspired to write this book because I'm a two time survivor of suicide and I believe the book will speak to everyone who picks it to read no matter where they are from.

INTERVIEWER: You stressed about the incessant rate of depression in our society and among youths in your book, do you think depression is hereditary?

Mr Gentle: Depression and suicide is not hereditary. I think it could only be hereditary if it's a curse in a family. Otherwise it's not. Depression is the voice that develops after every negative impressionable action which registers in the mind over time occurs and when not given the loving, encouraging & 'presence' attention needed becomes a louder voice in the head of it's victim asking for relief from all the pains & suffering until the victim obeys the voice and ends it all.

INTERVIEWER: How did you measure the scale to arrive at a conclusion that depression and sucide is now very rampant in the society?

Mr Gentle: There is no yardstick for measuring the high rate our society records depression & suicide; you simply observe the news & happenings. A popular DJ in Lagos took his life on January 2nd this year; popular comedian Funnybone recounts that if not for friends whom he opened up to, he could have taken his life last year; a Nigerian who was recently denied residency permit in Italy ran under a moving train; in Anambra, a man poured acid on his wife & then drank it thus killing himself; a young man recently torched himself because of hardship. The stories abound everywhere including many that never make it on news headlines.

INTERVIEWER: How would you relate the Nigerian environment and your environment to depression?

Mr Gentle: The Nigerian environment is one of the triggers of depression- just the hardship & economic instability is enough to drive someone crazy. The guy who set himself on fire said he had tried fruitlessly to get people to help him financially. He suffered third degree burns but thankfully he didn't die because the police rushed him to the hospital.

INTERVIEWER: Is depression peculiar to a certain class of people in the society?

Mr Gentle: Suicide & depression knows no national boundaries- they are public health problems in high-income countries & even more in low & middle income countries where nearly 80% of suicides occur. Reports show that suicide was the second leading cause of death for adolescents aged 15 to 19 in 2015 and according to WHO, over 800,000 people die due to suicide every year which is one person every 40 seconds.

INTERVIEWER: Some studies asserts that depression can come as a result of some chemical imbalance in the brain or imbalance in some neurotransmitters in the brain, how true is this?

Mr Gentle: Because I'm not a medical doctor, I wouldn't be able to prove the veracity of this claim but I do know that one who suffers depression is not mentally stable and as such should seek medical help and be attended to with understanding.

INTERVIEWER: What 'writing methodology' did you use in the course of writing this book?

Mr Gentle: The book is a fictional self-help work. In other words, there are characters I created to tell stories of what causes these mental problems in each chapter and I made sure to include 20 different nationalities covering all continents. This is because depression & suicide is a leveler- it knows no gender, race, tribe or class.

INTERVIEWER: What was the hardest part of writing this book?

Mr Gentle: There was no 'hardest' part as such; it's just that every writer experiences "writer's block" at some point during work. So there were times I lost inspiration and would give myself some time to play or study & then be inspired again to continue.

INTERVIEWER:What was your favorite chapter (or part) that you wrote and loved and why?

Mr Gentle: Every chapter is a beautiful one (laughs). However, my favorite chapter would be 15 because of the thrilling story of Fahad, a Pakistanese teenager who was a stammerer & suffered from slow learning disability though a smart boy. His classmates made jest of him & it would often result in a brawl because of his temper. It wasn't after his teacher Hamid took interest in him when his aged parents almost gave up on him that Fahad confessed to attempting to commit suicide to him that things began to change under the former's mentorship. Fahad would later become a best selling author, TV personality & also built the biggest literacy academy and made his teacher it's director. It's a story many may relate to I believe.

INTERVIEWER: What lessons did you learn in the course of writing this book?

Mr Gentle: First of all, I learnt that writing is a serious project and a beautiful career as this is my first foray into book publishing. And then I learnt how story telling can help in shaping how an author tackles an issue in the society; as such I believe writers shape cultures and ideology with their pen. No wonder a wise man posited that the pen is mightier than the sword.

INTERVIEWER: What is special about your book?

Mr Gentle: The book, "The Darkness Around a Rope" is special because of its timing in that its an issue that must form basis for discussions in different social and corporate fora. Then there is the cultural infusion as you would discover in each story, you would become more aware of these issues and then gain knowledge on how to gain victory and learn to talk yourself into a state of hope and personal effectiveness through the over 40 'Life-Line Affirmations in the last chapter. I encourage everyone to grab a copy on any of the digital platforms by February 25th.
.

INTERVIEWER: So how can people get the Book and how can they reach you on social media!?

Mr Gentle: ok the book is now available on Amazon, Okadabooks
