IKORODU TO V.I 700.900 AND 1000. PLEASE ALWAYS GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE POSTING.
We got first hand information on how much it costs to patronize these commercial ferry services.

Our observation is that there are several, though slight, variations in the fares demanded for trips to some specific destinations. These variations are determined by the capacity of the engines of the ferries , the quality of the boats, etc.

However, we also observed something as it relates to the fares being charged by the ferry services operators: the amount currently being charged as fares by these commercial ferry operators would be significantly reduced if there were more ferries participating and competing with the few existing ones on the Lagos Inland waterways.

It goes without say, if this mode of mass transit is sincerely explored by the government, it would significantly decongest the roads and rid the state of the legendary road traffic gridlocks in Lagos.

Note: The fares varies slightly with each ferry. The fare is determined by the size of the ferry and its engine capacity.

Anyone who has visited Bayelsa would know that the state needed a University more than an airport.

LaudableXX:
@AutoJoshNG, there is nothing like Marina 'Street.' It does not exist in our lexicon. That stretch of road in front of the water, is simply called Marina. According to the dictionary, a Marina is a specially designed harbour, with moorings for pleasure yachts and small boats.

Ideally, yes. But the "street" or "road" in front of the bookshop house, as it is today, does not qualify as a "Marina".

So informative. Autojosh. You are doing a great work.

Meanwhile, even Bola Tinubu has a road named after him. Yet no one find it not curious that MKO Abiola doesn't have a MAJOR road named after him?

These is a place where there was wild jubilation when Buhari declared May 29 as democracy day. The same Lagos where people demonized GEJ for attempting to rename UNILAG in honour of MKO. They didn't even deem it fit to immortalize MKO a road named after him.

Hypocrites!

Now we know why Lagos state governments have vigorously opposed the idea of the domestication of the Freedom of Information (FOI) law in Lagos state.

As much as we applaud the Lagos state government for some of their landmark projects, it makes absolutely no sense that they feel the tax payers do not deserve to know how much of their money that the government spend.

With these cult-like secrecy that shroud Lagos state's contract figures, next thing we will hear is that Ambode, too, does not sign cheques.

Religion / Re: Lagos Pastor, Tom Samson Steps Out Of His Rolls Royce Phantom (photos) by solutionist: 9:57am On Jun 04, 2018
There is nothing wrong with a Pastor owning a Rolls-Royce or Private Jet.

However, here is what the bible say in 2 Timothy 2:22:

“So flee YOUTHFUL PASSIONS and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant CONTROVERSIES; you know that they breed quarrels.”

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Romans 14:13-23

20 Do not, for the sake of food (ROLLS-ROYCE), destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats (DRIVES).

21 It is good not to eat meat, drink wine (or drive ROLLS-ROYCE or fly PRIVATE JET), or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.

22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats (DRIVES), because the eating (Driving ROLLS-ROYCE or Flying PRIVATE JET) is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.

I never disputed that, I know Onne port is one of THE best ports in Nigeria, I use it all the time, I'm basically saying the post did not capture ports of Sapele instead said Koko which has next to non existent. I was basically saying for economic reasons one might chose Lagos to Onne port cos of market target. Let me give you an Instant, I'm shipping a car to Lagos right a bout now cos I want to do work on it @ Lagos so the container is going to Lagos 1st time in for years!
I recon U mis understood me.

I get you, bro.

Are you sure you understood what I wrote or was that a knee jerk reacting post? cos from where I'm standing my post was not an argument but a statement of fact when it comes to what port to ship to, how can you argue against that?? and what part of it don't you agree to??

autojosh:

Note, however, that the Intels’ Onne port in River state is Nigeria’s best run and perhaps the most active ports in the country. The Intels’ Onne seaport is a privately-run seaport within the same region as the abandoned ports.

According to the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics, in 2017, the cargo throughput on Nigeria seaport was highest at Onne Port.

In that year, the Onne Port had cargo throughput of 25,836,246 (while inward was 1,947,347, outward was 23,888,899).

This was followed by Apapa Port with 18,909,238 (inward was 17,523,313, while outward was 1,385,925)

Tin Can Island Port was third with 15,520,925 (inward was 14,623 and outward was 1,385,925).

Meanwhile, the other seaports – Port Harcourt, Warri, Calabar – struggled with very poor cargo throughput.

Please note that these almost comatose seaports are within the same axis as the high-performing Onne port.

So, what really is the excuse for the neglect of the seaports at Port Harcourt, Warri and Calabar?

Travel / Re: Why Are The Four Other Seaports In Nigeria Abandoned? by solutionist: 5:27pm On May 17, 2018
erico2k2:

You got a point, that poster is uninformed. I ship to Onne port, that statement of obsession with Lagos is not true per say, I think its a Biz decision to either do Lagos or the South East. Even Onitsha ports received cargoes. Cos at the Shipping oys in china there are shipments bound for them destinations I mentioned. If I think its more profitable to ship to Lagos cos my mkt target is South West then yea.ie Bulk sales. But if I'm selling per unit then the final destination would be my target mkt.

You and your partner apparently didn't read the post to the end. It is either that or you both have comprehension problem.
