You have market forces determinant only in a perfect competition. Your have perfect competition with unrestricted access to market information.

It is only in a perfect market that market forces determine price. The Nigerian cement market is not perfect. There is government concession and protection for a highly favoured manufacturer. In such a scenario, it is unwise to expect market forces to determine the price.

In another response you challenge someone to go into cement production. Please note that you can't ordinarily go into cement production as you need mining license from the government which you will struggle to get unless you are a favoured certain individual. A demonstration of imperfect market. Don't expect market forces to determine price.

In the US in an imperfect market, the government determine price. Take gasoline price for example. The American government has gone to war with nations to control the price of oil to a determined level. Think Iraq war.

I do know he must get a license to operate,
like I repeated before, there are more than 8 companies with license, some are on paper and some aren't producing up to capacity, anyone can go negotiate with those wasting the license.

The American Govt pegged the price of gasoline, not that they decide how much each fueling stations must sell their product. (Prices varies between states).

It's almost similar to that of Nigeria (fuel) abeit subsidy.

Iraq or any other war started by the US got little to do with pricing but distribution/availability. (Not like they don't even have oil, they have the highest oil reserve in the world). This particular market is still not in the US's favor.

The exorbitant cost of building material of which cement is number one is affecting the standard of living of the citizen. The minimum wage in Lagos is about #35k most private companies pay their workers around #20k to 25k. To get a one room apt cost about #200k.

You ought to look it up. America banning of certain products importation from china is not economical it is political. Trump trade war with china is through the imposition of trade tariff just like Nigeria have high tariff on the importation of cars and some other products.

The fact that the total production capacity in the country is far below demand. There is no competition for increased market share among manufacturers. Since you can sell all you are producing , there is no incentive for you to look for way to cut cost of production that will give you competitive advantage.
A competent government interested in serving the people will introduce control importation of cement to force the local manufacturer to up their game. Let assume the government set the control price at #2800. The moment the price hit #2800 they will allow importation for 6 months. What do you think will happen to cement manufacturers? they will find a way to produce and sell below the set price

Government banned it to save the country from becoming a dumping ground. We have more than 8 cement manufacturing companies, and I don't think there is a law stopping any new Comer, including you.

Before the ban, some of the companies above could not cope, but got a lift as soon as the ban came to light.

It's very possible to chase any 2 lionesses, they can't try it with a lion. Hyenas have the natural fear for a lion and a pride of lion.

Every pride of Lion always have at least 1 lion and Hyenas don't dare any pride (Which is a minimum of 10 lionesses), not to talk of one with a lion.

For them to have cubs means they are not without a lion.

No matter the number, a clan of hyenas can't kill off a pride of lion.

The highest they can do is kill some cubs or wound some of the lionesses if they lack a lion in the pride (Very rare)
