Just imagine there was no live coverage. The players sometimes forget to play football.
COOL10:
. I was amazed at the lack of respect and too much aggressiveness. I've never been a fan of aggressive football. Little wonder just few of them get to the big clubs. They lacked professionalism. A GK took almost 10mins getting off the pitch just cos he didn't want to leave even when he knew he couldn't continue and the Ref could barely do anything. It got to a point(dying minutes) and I was praying for the Ref to give at least two players Red cards each so that they'll be calm. grin
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 7:36pm On Mar 11, 2018
For those always blaming the ref, una see wetin dey happen for even televised match o between 2 supposedly "civilized" southern clubs?
COOL10:
. Mehn I was disappointed. The game was too rough especially coming from Rangers players. At least Enyimba tried with their passes(this impressed me) but time wasting and unnecessary kicking of the ball into space(Rangers) just killed off the game. Overall to me,it was a typical NPFL match to me: Very little tactics and 90% brutality. They almost pushed the Ref at a point.

Not a chance by whoever wrote this!

Well his opinion.

MetalJigsaw:
An Interesting post Culled from Complete sports.com:

"A Must Read:"
(From a Completesports fan, Kingmaker)

Ref: Coach Gernot Rohr & Nff leadership.
The Super Eagles Coaching crew did a brilliant job putting its 28 man list together.

We commend the Crew & NFF for their continued hard work in a bid to deliver the best Super Eagles WC participation till date.

However, a careful & incisive review of the called-up names shows that the list is 97% complete for real business heading to the WC proper.

We strongly believe that the Super Eagles of Nigeria would be the darling team of the tournament & the team to beat.

We have waited for this chance since 1994.
We were robbed of the opportunity to finish in top 3 position due to inexperience. It was our first Senior World Cup outing and a baptism of fire of some sort.. Expectations were very high. It turned out sour.

That tournament left many Nigerians totally broken. It meant so much for the fans.

The Atlanta ’96 Men’s Olympic gold medal victory did not, & could not assuage the pains many still carry with them. Multiple victories at global youth levels & in Africa were not good enough to rub off, or heal the deep wounds inflicted by that early ouster of ’94.

However, today, smiles are returning back to the faces of Nigerians. We can see the light of hope again.

A killer team is emerging in Africa & about to be unleashed on the World. It is the current Super Eagles team.

The NFF leadership & Coach Gernot Rohr are turning this into another memorable and unforgettable WC experience for Nigeria & Africa.

Eagles need just two (2) additions to its final selection, barring injuries, to be good to go, and enough to lift the world cup, every other thing being equal.

A top class goalkeeper & a top 9 striker are all Super Eagles desperately need now.
We have found them.

A first choice safe hands in goal is needed in Carl Ikeme, soon to rejoin the crew (when fit) as expressed by the Coach.

Or, resummon Austin Ejide back to the team for May crucial friendly.

Eagles first choice goalkeeper needs a quality backup.

Suggested:

Goalkeeping: 3
1) Carl Ikeme, (A. Ejide)
2) Francis Uzoho,
3) Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
Reserve:
Daniel Akpeyi.

This completes the Goalkeeping selection.

Attack:

First Choice Striker, (Top 9)
*****

NAC Breda, Holland, ‘Goals king’ Cyriel Dessers.

This is the joker in the pack.
This is the hottest & most clinical Nigerian top 9 currently.
He is a complete striker; a combination of brains, skill & finesse.

He is pacy on and off the ball. This young hitman is a goal scoring sensation in dutch top flight where he made goalscoring act as simple as fixing house chores.
There is nothing left to describe him.

I have not seen a Nigerian top 9 player as gifted in this generation of players as CY.
He is neat, precise, quick & totally lethal.
He also knows how to celebrate his exploits in style. I love this boy.

He will bring back joy to Super Eagles, & much more so to millions of soccer crazy Nigerian fans.

This is the MAN. If Nigeria must win the world cup, or stake a viable challenge for it, this is the guy that must lead the lines to make that dream come true.

Modern football demands the application of several formations particularly in tournaments where you wish to excel.

GR knows that very well & would need to trim down his squad & ring it around players who can be deployed in multiple roles, to suite the occasion.

It may be too early, though but we can safely say that some SE attackers evaluated are too lackadaisical, predictable, lacking dynamism, and cannot offer much at this level.

Such should make way for others. No disrespect.

Suggested team: 23

Goalkeeping: 3
Defence: 7
Midfield: 7
Attack: 6.

My concentration (in this article) right now is on SE Midfield & Attack positions.

1) Midfield: 7.

The Super Eagles midfield, as presently constituted from the release, holds the edge, with versatile ‘hatchetman’ Uche Agbo being the last addition.

This is the best possible technical “Gra-gra” team that Super Eagles can muster on parade today.

This is our engine room & heartbeat of the team.

This is where Coaches’ tactics are interpreted & executed.

This is where the disruption & breakdown of opposing teams are contemplated & carried out.

A good coach knows that matches are won & lost in the midfield.

Our’s is a balanced, strong & ruthless midfield that can withstand the stretch, grit & grind of opposing teams, as well as crowd pressure to come out unscathed, heads high, and on top & over the best teams of the world.
Barring Injury & loss of form.

My Pick:

Mikel John Obi (C)
Joel Obi
Onazi Ogenyi
Wilfred Ndidi
Oghenekaro Etebo
John Ogu
Uche Agbo.

2) Attack: 6.

This is the decisive unit where chances are sorted & buried.

All 32 teams of the WC tournament are winners in their own rights & would be well prepared to minimize errors, and reduce scoring chances of opposing teams as much as they possibly can.

So, glaring chances will be rare & far in between at the tournament. However, a good team can prise open a tight defence, create & put away half chances.

This is where players in the mould of Junior Ajayi is an added value. He will be a revelation at the WC if selected.

Again, this is where intelligent & visionary attackers are needed to do the job.

Without any doubt Nigeria have some.
Barring Injury & loss of form.

My pick:

Kelechi Iheanacho
Alex Iwobi
Victor Moses
Moses Simon
Junior Ajayi
Cyriel Dessers.
Reserves:
Ahmed MUSA
Odion Ighalo.

This Super Eagles’ attack on current form is ruthless & capable of achieving the unthinkable.

With this team, these boys, I clearly foresee goals, goals & more goals.
You cannot have it better than this one. This team can win the CUP.

God on our side, anything is possible..
Good luck, Nigeria!

You're on a long thing. You think it's because you clamored for them, hence the reason they made the team?

There are alot of players better than some of the players we have known or unknown so its not peculiar to Otigba alone. let it slide.
forgiveness:
I am not saying Eze should be dropped for the friendlies ooooooo.

I just think Otigba is better.

Maybe Rohr has another plan to bring a better defender. I don't know but our defence needs to be fortified.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 11:34am On Mar 10, 2018
How can Ezeh be dropped?

He's been picked already and if Rohr wants, he can call Ojinta too, there is nothing anyone on this thread can do.

Having said that, some of you have personal vendetta against some people here. Una comments dey expose una wella.

4-2-3-1 won't work.
forgiveness:
Fast counter attack from the wings with fast and skillful wingers will force the team with 3-5-2 formation to concede goals or park the bus. And ones the wing backs are forced to stay back, you don't expect any attacking moves from them.

This will make dem redundant. 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 are good for such formation..
