Chai, is this a goal keeping error? I mean was it that the keeper was so bad or the defence cos I don't understand the change of GK.

Glory years ke? Apart from Enyimba, the other 3 Nigerian clubs in Africa this season are debutants. Don't expect much from them o.

Most of these clubs hardly hold on to their best once season ends.

Other African clubs doing well in Africa keep their best or at least most of their best. Our Nigerian players play football for the money first before the passion.

I wish LMC can put a law down stopping any good player from leaving the league until after 3 seasons.

See MFM struggling to score because their goal scorers have left.
tbaba1234:
What have we done in Africa of recenthuh

We can all talk about the glory years but the quality is bad now. It showed in the WAFU cup and CHAN.

For this particular game, i blame the coach..

This same league produced Kano pillars that knocked out Al ahly (African greatest powerhouse) from CCL.

Heartland also sent Royal Armed Forces out of the CCL and we had 2 Nigerian clubs playing semi finals against eachother just less than 10 years ago. This same Nigeria league produced that!

It was TP Mazembe that stopped Heartland from winning the Champions league that season.

Lets stop blaming the whole league for the fault of individual club side.

We have good clubs in the league with good foundation!

tbaba1234:
Akwa United played a team from Gambia though..

I remember when the great Enyimba team played away, they were so defensively sound that they frustrated their north African opponents. What i am seeing here is terrible

How many foreign players are there in Plateau united?
What have they ever won in their life?
they came from division one to the league to win which is why i compared them to Leicester city but we both know Leicester city have foreign players, good ones. If you like put Rohr to coach Plateau united with the set of players available now, a better equipped club like Etoile will still beat them silly.

Remember this is the first time Plateau united will ever play international football including their coaching crew.

Expecting them not to get beaten is funny though.

tbaba1234:
Trust me, If Juventus is playing Leicester, it won't be this bad.. They are terrible.. It shows the level of the coaching in the league.

But this same "zero tactics" club also beat Edin-sport 3 zero na. lets respect their opponent abeg. Ajiboye on the bench.

Plateau United is no powerhouse in Nigeria, just because they won the league for the first time shouldn't make us overhype them. How many foreigners do they even have to compete with an internationally filled club like Etoile De sahel?

in ur prayers please do not forget this budding talent, Nura Abdullahi

Heart problem stops Nigerian defender’s career

Nigerian international, Nura Abdullahi’s budding career with AS Roma has suffered a major setback as doctors has advised him to stop all sporting activities with immediate effect.

Nura, 20 on loan to Perugia, signed a four-year contract with Roma in 2016
for €2.5 million and may never play football again until doctors certify that he is out of danger zone.

Roma and Perugia received the scary news inn Monday morning when it was announced that tests on Abdullahi revealed that due to his cardiovascular system, he should stop all activities.

“On Wednesday 28 February, full-back Nura Abdullahi underwent scheduled cardiological tests. The results of the tests made it necessary that the player stop all sporting activity for a period of 30 days.
“Following the completion of that period of rest, the player will undergo further tests.’
The diagnosis of the young Nigerian is coming barely 48 hours after the death of Fiorentina and Italian player Davide Astori from suspected cardiac arrest.

Abdulahi was discovered by Kaduna- based Future Africa Football Academy before he was transferred to Football Academy Abuja.
It would be recalled that Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu was told he may never play football again in 1996 because of a heart condition.

Kanu’s heart problem was spotted during an examination by Inter Milan doctors prior to his Serie A debut.

I don't know what goes on at training/Camp. management is more than just looking for stars, putting them together and expecting them to perform, goes deeper than that, until i can access how he does in camp, then and then will i decide. Apart from Idowu who's a bit experienced having played football for a while, Ebuehi is a greenhorn and needs more than 45 mins as a SE player + club form to cement a "first team" spot in the SE.

Summary, until i am in camp to access how the 3 perform and what they bring to the team spirit on and off the pitch, i can't decide who would make it to Russia, same way Rohr hasn't listed those he's taking to Russia even though there are some untouchables right now.

The killing parts of Fulani herdsmen are criminals and the court is the only place that will sentence them, not buhari and not you. If they decide to form a country in Nigeria like boko haram, then Army will waste them. For now they have no front or acronym they operate with as a militia group so you can't equate both.

As simple as that.

Well when they asked for his inclusion, the coach didn't oblige (Not like we even have any free scoring strikers anywhere in the world self including the so called foreign based). People can only recommend or ask, the coach decides who he wants.

I don't even see any HB going to the WC in the first place.

As for Junior Lakossa, the article only voiced out the opinion of the writer, not a command nor is it binding on the coach. We surely know no current HB player (striker) can make the team to Russia but to rubbish the players even when they do well at their various home clubs is what I can't stand. If their goals for their various clubs won't count, what then should count for them? Should they be scoring goals in England or Spain while playing in Nigeria?
tbaba1234:
It is as if you do not understand me.

Odey scored several goals in the league. As a result, pressure was mounted on Rohr to invite him to the national team. That is where the hype comes from, not the number of goals he scored.

At some point, we have to wait and see if players push on and whether they can perform at higher levels.

Switzerland is good for his development but he is no where near national team level now.

We need to stop putting too much stock/value on who is scoring so much in the NPFL, it does not mean that much because the league is poor. Okpotu was top scorer in the league.

The real test is when the players go to higher levels and can prove themselves. That is when we will know who is really quality.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 8:18am On Mar 06, 2018
He wasn't hyped, he scored those goals by merit. Nothing like hyping here.

Scoring 3 goals in 12 matches from the bench can't be from someone being hyped.

If Switzerland is not good for him, where should be good? You don't expect an NPFL player to go into any first team club in the major leagues out there because our league hasn't reached that stage but that doesn't mean these players won't perform more than the locals anywhere they see themselves.
tbaba1234:
I am giving him the benefit.. He has not exactly set the league on fire but maybe with time and opportunity. Struggling to get minutes in Switzerland is not good for a striker that was so hyped.

tbaba1234:
Odey has 3 goals in 12 games in league and cup but you are right, he has not had that many minutes.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 6:29am On Mar 06, 2018
Many played in the early 90s in the league and the one I am talking about happened in the 2000s, imagine bringing in the era of kanu to talk about the league means you know Nada about the league you're berating.

BTW, are you trying to blame the league for the set of players we have and not because our players now prefer just the money than becoming a better player?

How much were the players earning in the 2000s that made them good compared to now? Are you saying the league organisation and infrastructures were good then than now?

In the time of kanu you raised, how many players scored 25 goals in the league? In the era of Enyimba, Kano pillars, heartland etc, how much were they earning, how many scored goals you want the present ones to score?

You take them serious or not won't stop the league nor the players from continuing.

Like I said, if you can't support the league or come in to make the league better, then your criticism is useless to the growth of the league.
bengine:
Bro when did the league win back to back CCL..u mean back in the enyimba days when pure talents where in the league even thou there weren't refined yet, they were still talent..when Kanu played, he was a talent but not refined yet..

All I'm saying is the league is not as tough as u think, there is a lot of underlying problems in the league such as player welfare, organisation, salary issues, proper coaching..its just too much..

Even if any player scores 25goals in the league, I won't take them serious until they repeat it in a more serious league..a player that scored 10goals in the npfl could have more talent and potential than some scoring 20goals..

bengine:
Bros the quality of football sucks in NPFL!! How do you want to score 25goals and beyond in the league with little quality coaching, no proper set plays on how manage and execute games..

Stop hyping players from NPFL, their level of football education is at best level of primary school kids...they just have the raw physicality/speed and that's just about it...

Most of our players when they go abroad have to be re-educated on how to play the game..so abeg until npfl understands football has gone past kicking the ball around to a well controlled and executed set plays in diff part of the pitch..

HAVE YOU EVER ASK YOURSELF WHY FOREIGN BASED PLAYERS SEEM TO HAVE MORE QUALITY THAN HOMEBASE??
The same league won CCL back to back

Some of its clubs got to quarter finals of CCL and semi finals in recent times.

Some of the players go to foreign clubs to become stars there.

You can bereat the league whichever way you like but it won't add or improve it a dime. If you so much hate what is going on in the league, why not step in to correct it?

Shehu Diko and Irabor didn't sit somewhere far away berating the league, they came and contributed their quota, they don't have 2 heads, you can also come and change the league to eldorado overnight.
We are waiting.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 11:51pm On Mar 05, 2018
Who's over hyping who here? For someone to score 11 goals in 10 matches, so he shouldn't be talked about? You sound like NPFL is a league where easy goals are scored.

For your information, we have never had anyone score up to 25-30 goals in a season in the NPFL , that's to show you how difficult it is scoring goals in this league.

So he doesn't have to go to Costa Rica to prove to anyhow he scored 11 goals in 10 games. Hopefully Kano pillars will keep him for next season so that he can repeat the feat again because I believe he will score more.

If Odey likes, let him score whenever he is, it has nothing to do with this young man, their destinies aren't tied together.

Switzerland is now a higher level goal wise? Switzerland that goals dey fly up and down? You make it sound like Odey is the only NPFL player to leave for Europe, that he's even scoring much now doesn't mean he's a bad striker, some players aren't that fast in adapting to newer environment.

Let's cut Nigerian players from the NPFL some slacks meen!

Hian!
tbaba1234:
Wait for players to prove themselves elsewhere. Do not overhype them. I remember how Odey was hyped.

The vast majority of NPFL scorers do not prove themselves in a higher level.
