It was repaired by the manufacturer, Landrover. It explains why the price is high, they use OEM parts right down to the bolt nuts. The damaged car spent 2 months with them and came out like new. Labour itself only cost £2500, the rest of the money went for parts.

Landrover is an awesome car to drive, but very expensive car to maintain. To fill up mine with diesel alone costs £100, and I fill it up at least twice weekly. I would strongly advise that anyone who chooses to own one should have a fund set aside for repairs, because you will definitely spend on repairs. There are other luxurious cars that are cheaper to drive and maintain. Personally, I'm a Landrover addict and this is my second one. I owned an Evoque before this one.

It is the manufacturer that created the notion that it is expensive to maintain. 2 years ago, Bearmach was selling one diesel injector nozzle for 78k but this year, it is now 140k, the last time I checked. Coscharis behaves like them and that is why they are called stealers instead of dealers in the US. OEM parts are not foolproof, they fail easily. As for other luxury cars that are cheap to maintain, I have never seen it. Someone just bought the front headlights of a Super sport Lexus for 750k, and I once changed the engine oil of a Bentley 6.0 that requires 15 litres of oil. The Abs module on a land cruiser is over 1m. All these parts on these cars will never go bad on a Range Rover easily. And they're not as luxurious than the range rover. Addicted to something good is a blessing. At least you did not enter the Land Rover circuit with the first generation Sport like me though it was a 5 year old model then and since 2011, na only V8 be the real thing. Nothing else matters.

Dot 4 is ideal for the car but not all dot 4 are beneficial. If a producer of a product does not know the difference between break and brake, run from the product. As for the power steering fluid, go to otopec and get it from the guy. Any product with German technology is fake. It's the same thing with battery that is made in china with Korean technology. The bottom line is that you are the one that is going to bear the cost for ignoring the right oil, so use the right oil. You can also ask for Total brake oil at Akpakpava station. It is Dot 4.

I drive a 2016 model. I would strongly advise you look for a dealer or Landrover specialist close to wherever you live to sort out your vehicle. Landrover vehicles are a money pit, but if well looked after, they are amazing to drive.

2m would have fixed it properly. Most times, mechanics call us from the US and asking if we can fix these accident cars. The parts are expensive but the repairs are not high and like you stated, maintenance is key. Managers don't deserve to own a range rover, only directors.

The Nigerian Insurers Association has outlawed the commission above the threshold of 500 naira and all members are signatories. I will advise everyone to log in to www.niip.com and buy your insurance policy. It is 5k and your data will be captured in the system. And you will be settled whenever you have any issue with claims. The era of having a third party insurance policy just for police wahala is over. Get your policy so that when you mistakenly hit a Rangerover on the road, you don’t have any reason to prostrate for your mate, you fill the form and shake hands and move on.

The Range Rover sport dashboard that is pictured here is a 2009 model and not 2013. Maybe it was upgraded to 2012. On thé driver door, you will be able to read the year of manufacture. The amber light on the dashboard is telling you that you have a problem with the air suspension hence it is permanently on and the likely fault is the air compressor . There are good power steering fluids in Benin and I will suggest that you go to Otopec at Airport Road and there is a man that sells good products there. Ask him for Johnsen power steering oil. Then I will send you a number in Benin who will help you put your car in order after your reply

I have seen Helix engine oil on the Island especially at AP awolowo road Ikoyi. 0w30 is ideal for your golf. For the transmission fluid, Addinol, Liqui Molly is your best bet. I once bought transmission fluid from Trade fair for 7 speed Mercedes. I decided to scan the barcode and even though the can showed transmission fluid, the code showed that it was a brake fluid. The seller quickly told the bike man to bring it back and never brought another one. The reason why I am telling you this is to be wary of the VW gear oils being sold in Itire. You are on your own in that matter

I once tried it on a Rangerover and it dried up quickly to my annoyance. The 5w30 variant though. The local mobil 1 is not even for your car because they have 5w30 and 0w40. There is the Mobil I for Honda, Toyota and Nissan. Go for that.Give your car a treat and use the good oil for it and it will serve you well by reducing your fuel consumption and prolonging the life of your engine

Good movement with Penzoil. You are battling with too many competition in the mobil section and you are running into another section. Try Extreme synthetic blend and you will see the solution to Toyota problem. Extreme is made by Syngard whose technology is given to Valvoline and many others and until two years ago, was made available exclusively to my workshop till we finished it

And mind you that the Range Rover Evoque stated that we must use 5w30 and recommended Castrol up to 2018 models and it is for an engine that the cost of replacement according to Coscharis billing, will buy 2 toks 2015 Corolla, is the uber Corolla 5w30 going to use the same oil because they are both 2.0 engines? Motul is sold in the USA, so also is Ravenol and I don’t know for Addinol but their 5w30 is GF 5 and energy conserving while the 5w20 is resource conserving.

2006 Toyota corolla u mentioned, Toyota didnt say we shd use synthetic oil but 5w30. Addinol German oil u stated here are not in US and if d oil is good as u stated American we buy them. I will only advised to use what's good for your engine. U stated u recommended Mobil 1 to 2013 Toyota camry owner but d oil dried up after 2 months but not all 2013 Camry dried up after six months but depend on wears and tear in d engine.
In conclusion use what's good for u and most important is d viscosity of d oil if d oil is genuine and that's my opinion.

Hmmm you are right but Toyota recommended 5w30 without stating synthetic, according to you and they went further to tell us that it must be gasoline engine, added the starburst sign with a clincher that it must be energy conserving. I don’t know if there’s any oil that fits that description that is not fully synthetic. As for Addinol and also for Ravenol, both German oils, they are touted to be one of the best oils in the world. Addinol is 3 years old in the country but those who bring in Ravenol says people don’t want to buy because it is very expensive. As for Toyota engines drying up the oils being used is a thing of concern and most gurus here will always say it’s an engine defect without offering any solution. Must every Toyota engine be ringed to eliminate this major problem or do we allow 20w50 engine oils to take care of the problem? The solution to the oil shortage or dryness is what we should all join hands to resolve.

I always encourage uber drivers regardless of the type of car they drive . I encourage them to use Mobil 1 Extended Performance to give them a longer oil change and better engine protection.. I tell them due to the constant use of the car .

The engine will need more lubrication and protection from heat and other wear and tears that comes with constant usage.. And to only change oil every 10k miles not 20k .......

Now other car owners that don't use their vehicles for uber or taxi purposes . I advice them to use Castrol Magnatec .. If you are driving 12k miles less a year than castrol is good. And change oil every 7k miles.. But most customers will prefer to use Mobil 1 Extended Performance regardless the application they is been used for .. It gives them peace of mind knowing that Mobil 1 EP will give their engine the extra protection needed........


Now the oil that u are advising people to use, where are they coming from? What about the reviews on them etc ..

You mention Liqui Molly .. Do u know how expensive Liqui Molly ? Especially if it is the original and u want them to use it on Toyota cars .. Don't you think it is an overkill to use it ? You also mention Addinnol oil , who makes that.. I look on Google and Youtube and couldn't find them ..... So please let us be on objective in our thinking.......

Is the bone biscuit bone or cow bone? I am not your competitor as I have never for once imported a litre of oil. When I talk about Addinol and other European brands, I am concerned about the Toyota. With all the hype of being reliable, why are the engines drying the oils? My first experience was when I used Oando 5w40 as it was then to service a 2008 Camry and it dried up after a month and the owner changed it to Mobil xhp and it was fine. Another time I used EP on a 2013 Camry and thank God that the owner was there when we bought the oil from Gazzzuz and it also dried up after 2 months. The man refused to bring that car to me anymore because I recommended the oil that dries to him. In my search for European oils, I studied and observed the sync with Toyota engines. It works for them and even though it does not have starburst or energy conserving, it is not drying up and therefore protecting the environment and our pockets. I was once sent a catalogue by Ravenol and that is one of the most expensive oils in the world and except for Bentley that uses 15 liters of oil, how long will it be sold out? Okay I will rephrase my English, it is not advisable to use EP for your Toyota. I was thinking in French when I wrote it. Those Jumia sellers can be mischievous sometimes but they sell higher than any other outlets Addinol oil is a German brand and I have met the Germans when they came to my office to talk about the market. They don’t see any competition in our local market. At my request, they now brought in 8 and 9 speed transmission fluids and it has done well for our repairs industry

There is nothing Wrong using Mobil 1 Extended Performance for Toyota cars ... All that matters is for the oil to meet the API standard and the car manufacture specifications........

All engine oil designated for the USA market most meet the basic API standard ... Mobil 1 Extended Performance exceed those standards.. This is why anything Mobil 1 sells like crazy in Nigeria.......

API does not regulated oil for other country .. Any oil designated for the USA as to have that logo.. They are

You want to sell your products by deceiving yourself. Mobil has not in their wildest dream has ever thought of recommending extended performance oils for Toyota. They created mobil 1 for Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Another oil is all season oil for Toyota. If a rangerover 4.4 v8 recommends Castrol edge 5w30 for up to 2009 models, is it the same oil that a 2007 Camry or your Kia Rio that’s recommended for it? If Range-rover recommended 5w20 for their 2010 V8, 5.0 engine, will you recommend the same oil for a 2.7 4 cylinder Toyota engine? A 2.0 engine of an Evoque up to 2018 still uses 5w30 oil, is the oil in the same category with a 2007 Corolla 2.0? There are people selling Mobil 1 for Toyota on jumia and they don’t come to Nairaland to market their products, they pay for advertising on jumia and they are taken very seriously on that platform. Deceiving people that they can use extended performance on their compact engines is like telling a Toyota Corolla owner that he needs premium fuel for his Toyota.

Bros, I have never bought the oil but I recall seeing it in some big garages and they are always boasting that it came from Dubai until I showed them the place of manufacture and I believe that the adulterated gangs got the info at the same time and started doing their own version of the oil and the demand for the oil ebbed and Mobil came out with their XHP API SN which finally relegated the demand for Cepsa. Mobil XHP is now above 8k while Cepsa is sold less than that.

Let's not jump to conclusions, this scattershot approach to diagnosing or repairing vehicles is very antiquated. There's a myriad of possible causes of the reduced engine performance message.

The correct next step would be for the vehicle to be scanned with an adequate scan tool. Not those generic tools, it needs to be a professional tool. It's the codes from that scan that would point to the issue causing the engine performance message.

OP, if you're in Lagos, go to Ladipo, ask for Alhaji Amusa Street in Daleko. That's the Volvo headquarters in Lagos. The scanning+possible parts would be resolved there.

You may be right but like he stated, he just bought the car and any car that uses our fuel for the first time has check engine light comes up especially if you are using a car that requires premium fuel. Buying a Volvo and go and stand in a noisy, dirty place because you have the parts there does not mean that there are experts there, the guy I recommended worked with Doyin motors and so will be in a better position to fix his car.
