Christianity EtcRe: When God Does Not Answer Your Prayers by sophy09: 3:24am On Jun 22, 2012
Most times, prayers that we feel are not answered are prayers we need answers to ASAP. We pray, fast and praise but yet we are so anxious to have the prayer answered. I remember when I was praying to God anxiously for a particular thing, He did not answer my prayers. I was losing hope but the funniest thing happened to me. My roommate was playing Celine Dion's "that's the way it is" one day and the song ministered to me. Yes it ministered to me. It says:

When you want it the most there's no easy way out
When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is

The song touched me. That same evening I went for Bible study, the preacher spoke about God's will for our lives and letting God have his way. I decided to let God have His way concerning the same issue. The funny thing is that God did not answer that prayer. Right now I am so glad He did not answer that prayer. God's greatest gift is unanswered prayers.

The Clark Sisters - You brought the sunshine

You made my day, You came my way
You heard me every, every time I pray
You gave me peace, You gave me grace
You put a smile upon my face

You brought the sunshine {You brought the sunshine}
In my life {Threw out the lifeline}
Threw out the lifeline (You brought the sunshine)
To save my life {Threw out the lifeline}

Since then I have known Christ
There has been such a change in my life (Uh-huh)

You made my day, You came my way
You heard me every, every time I pray
You gave me peace, You gave me grace
You put a smile upon my face

You brought the sunshine {You brought the sunshine}
In my life {Threw out the lifeline}
Threw out the lifeline (You brought the sunshine)
To save my life {Threw out the lifeline}

Amazing Grace, how sweet the song
That saved a wretch like me

{I?m a witness that Jesus} Anybody know Jesus
{Will make a difference in your life}
{I?m a witness} Can I get a witness {That Jesus}, anybody know Jesus
{Will make a difference in your life}
{I?m a witness} Can I get a witness {That Jesus}, anybody know Jesus
{Will make a difference in your life}

I once was lost, but now I?m found
But now, but now I see
Oh, yeah, yeah
Mmm, hmm, mmm, hmm

You made, You made my day (You brought the sunshine)
You came, You came my way (Thank You, Jesus, threw out the lifeline)
You made, You made my day (Thank You, Jesus, mmm, hmm, thank You, Jesus)
You came, You came my way (Thank You, Jesus, Thank You, Jesus, mmm, hmm)

Smokie Norful - Justified

I was preaching a sermon one Sunday and uh
It was about, it was a parable
And it was talking about the uh, the disciples and Jesus
When they were going through a corn field
And they began to pick the corn

And the Pharisees, the legalistics of the day, they came
And they were chastising them that
'Why are you doing this on the Sabbath?'

They had this whole discourse and dialog between the two of them
Jesus was saying, 'Listen, do you, do you not remember that you
You, yourself aren't even worthy
You guys break unleavened bread on, on the Sabbath
And you kill the sacrifice, you clean the sacrifice'

They have a need and it's my job and my responsibility
To meet their need and I'm at their need
I trump the synagogue, I trump the Sabbath
I'm lowered of your life, I'm lowered of everything that is you
I'm lowered of this, this day, recognize who you're talking to

But in the course of the whole thing what I realize is that
The dialog was between the Pharisees or the religious leaders of the day
Was between the dignitaries, the officials of the Church and Jesus
The disciples never uttered a word

He literally started embodying his permanent position in our lives
Because he stepped in between the law and the people
He says, 'No, I'm Grace and because of Me
They don't have to defend themselves to you'

'I'll do all the talking, My blood will speak through all of eternity
I have justified them, even in their wrong, I know that they are wrong
I know that they make mistakes, I know that they are not perfect
I know that they do things that are not pleasing'

'But even in their wrong, My blood will speak on their behalf
And I will just', somebody should have shouted right there
Because He didn't kill you for all the sinful acts that you committed
But he justified you

God bless me with this song, it simply speaks the life of that message
And I'm just excited to be able to share it with you

Hey, justified me, glorified me
Paid my ransom and I've been redeemed by his blood
Go to Calvary, I've been made free
Despite my enemy, I thank God, I'm justified

Paid a price for my life
And all that was wrong, His love made it right
Now what greater sign can any man show?
That know with his own blood He made me whole

He justified me, glorified me
Paid my ransom and I've been redeemed by his blood
Go to calvary, I've been made free
Despite my enemy, I thank God, I'm justified

If my sins had their way I never would have made it
With a debt I just couldn't afford to pay, He came and saved me
When the enemy said that I couldn't, God said go ahead
Because you're covered by me awesome, awesome powerful blood

Though I, I should've been dead and never kept alive
God's grace and his mercy were on every side
When it looks like I can't, God says I can
And he won't let me fall in the enemy's hand

Oh, I'm just glad to know that God saved me
His grace and his mercy
They watched over me all night long
If it had not been, if it had not been
If it had not been, if it had not been
If it had not been for the lord that was on my side
Hey, listen I got some testimonies listen

Just like Nineveh that was headed for destruction
God stepped in and he said
(Not guilt)
You gonna live and you won't see the day of destruction
(Oh oh oh)

Just like Daniel who was condemned to the lion's den, God said
(Not guilt)
You're gonna live
(You're gonna live, yeah)

Just like David who was dearly beloved inspite of God said
(Not guilt)
Yeah
Hey
(Let's talk about you)

If you be honest with yourself tonight
If it hadn't been for the grace of God
You would've been, you could've been
Yeah, listen, hey

To the liar
(Not guilt)
To the cheater
(Not guilt)

To the deceiver
(Not guilt)
Even to the believer
(Not guilt)

There is their point no condemnation to them
(Not guilt)
That are in Christ Jesus
(Not guilt)

Yeah, yeah
(Not guilt)
Hey

Some of y'all got it twisted, listen
(Not guilt)
If it hadn't been for God
(God did it)

You wouldn't have made it
Hey, don't get confused about who kept you
Hey
(God did it)

When the enemy said that I couldn't, God did it
(God did it)
When my haters said that I wouldn't, God did it
(God did it)

Hey, I thought we'd never get out of the poor house but
(God did it)
I thought we'd never see the White House but I'm claiming it
(God did it)

Hey and if you be honest He's been over your house
(God did it)
Every grateful heart just bless his name
(God did it)

Who delivered you?
(God did it)
Be honest about it, who kept you? Yeah
(God did it)

Come on and testify who brought you, hey
(God did it)
Hey, just shout God did it
(God did it)

Point to heaven and give him glory, God did it
(God did it)
Come on and testify, hey
(God did it)

One more time if your praise is ringing say God did it
(God did it)
Hey yeah, yeah, hey
(God did it)

Every time I turn around, it's but God
But God, but God, but God
They said I wouldn't but God
They said I couldn't but God
They say I should've been dead but God
They say I should've been sick but God
They said I should've have never made it but God, yeah

Come on and just shout God did it
(God did it)
God did it
(God did it)

God did it
(God did it)
God did it
(God did it)

Don't believe yourself
(God did it)
Like your grateful self
(God did it)
Yeah, everybody say
(God did it)
Christianity EtcRe: Need Prayers For A Spouse by sophy09: 11:15pm On Jun 21, 2012
^ Hey friend no biggie about it but the poster needs prayers for a spouse.

It is easy to go with the street attitude and you will get a street guy who likes your street attitude but you may or may not like the street guy. I believe in God's guidance and direction in anything I do. Most times it turns out right. Whenever I feel His guidance led me astray, I always thank Him at the end cause it was actually for my good.
Prayer is not just about getting a spouse cause everyone can get a spouse. Praying for a spouse is about compatibility.

Even if she leads delegation of businessmen to Nigeria that does not mean they will invest. Nigeria needs to development in terms security and light, these will bring in investors willingly.

FamilyRe: Sad End To Another Domestic Violenc Case by sophy09: 10:44pm On Jun 18, 2012
Domestic violence at times is not physical but rather emotional and mental. It is easy for some to get out while some find it hard. Nigeria has few support groups for these women. The religious houses which are to be a place of refugee are not but rather a place of condemnation. Apart from the few support group, some will prefer to stay in the marriage because their mindset has so messed up. Some see their case as hopeless while some will rather stay to save face from families and friends.

It takes a strong women to say no and walk out of the relationship but where is the strength when she has been abused both physically and emotionally.
FamilyHow Do You Forgive Yourself For The Mistakes You Have Made In Your Life? by sophy09(op): 10:31pm On Jun 18, 2012
What do you do when you feel you made a bad decision and it is affecting your life one way or the other. You try so hard to look at the bright side but your mind as well as other people keep telling you about the mistake you have made and benefits you could have derived if you had made the right decision.

There is no honor among thieves. What do you expect from a corrupt government. Don't forget Otedola is part of the government. His father used to be the governor of Lagos, so he definitely has his links which is part of the government and of recent the same government he is part of is trying to screw him up. So like someone said they are on the same side of the coin.

FamilyRe: Have You Ever Lied To Your Wife? by sophy09: 12:56am On Jun 14, 2012
Same thing happened to a family friend parent. They had been married for 36 years. The family never knew their dad another wife in the same state. The dad was always home every night, he provided and loved his family. One of the employees told the guy's son but he did not believe. The truth came out when the guy died. The wife was in shock. She had to accept her fate.

Another case is that of a friend. He happens to be the last child but people always argue with him that he has a younger brother. Neighbors tell the mum as well that they saw her son 3 blocks away while the boy is at home. The mum decided to investigate. The father had another woman 3 blocks away. The boy is a year younger than my friend. The mother did nothing about it. The father still lives with his first family and goes to visit the other once in a while.

FamilyRe: Child Molestation by sophy09: 12:08am On Jun 03, 2012
It is usually people in the place of trust that molest children. The world is full of evil people and it is left to parents to teach their children. In today's world most parent do not have time for their children. They are busy with work. Parent comes back from work and is too tired to talk or listen to their child. It starts by talking to your child letting your child know the difference between a vagina and a penis. Some kids do not know the impact of what is done until they become adult. I remember a house-help we had that was always handling my brother. I was 5 years old. I never knew it was bad, he says p-r-i-c-k and we start to laugh including my brother who was 3 years old at the time.

Another thing is parent not believing in the children. A friend of mine was molested by her uncle. She told her parent but no-one believed her. For me I believe you should let a child call each and everyone by their names. Either uncle max or uncle chima. Some kids call everyone uncle/aunty and at the end of the day, the story is that the child is confused and don't know what he or she is saying.

Everyone need to be on the look out and justice should be served on child molesters. The best justice is cutting off their penis with that the know the pain and damage they did to a little's girls future.
FamilyRe: "Family"- What Does This Word Mean To You? by sophy09: 5:51pm On Jun 01, 2012
To me family is mum, dad, brothers and sisters. Although there were aunts and uncles, I saw them as fair weather. Through my ups and downs they happen to be the only ones who stood by me. Although we have our grievances whereby you are mad at each other and you never want to talk to each other again. You will be surprised when one is down the other is there to lift you up.

lucabrasi: she has spoilt the boy rotten all through the formative years so its getting a bit too late now, tell your friend to deport the boy to his dad's or have a male positive role model who will discipline and mentor him, someone that understnds youngsters but firm n disciplined or else the boy is on his way to join the wha wha in south east london
Things like these happen when you do not discipline a child through formative years. Even if the parent had a bitter divorce and he was disciplined, he won't turn out this way. The problem with most people in the Western world, which it has come to my attention is that they neglect their children. Most are busy chasing the dollars to the extent that they don't have time for their kids. I know of a couple who recently moved to the states. They have 2 young boys ages 8 and 10. Imagine the boys telling their mum to shut up, the lady just laughed it off and was like see what oyinbo has turned my children to. I mean you see kids keeping late nights because the know their mum is working night shift.

The only she can do right now is dialogue with him, understand his reason for behaving in an unusual way.

Typical naija mentality. Is he suppose to be sleeping at work? Even if he was feeling sleepy haba not on the table at least you take style do am. This is too much and in the afternoon for that matter. At the end of the day we compare ourselves to the western world. This can never be accepted. You will be told to go on a sick leave. You know what that means.

Walking past an elderly without acknowledging him/her even if you know or don't know the person.

Offering an elderly person one or three pieces of anything. I am told it has to be even. huh

When you serve, you pour the person his/her drink in the glass cup unless the person tells you not to bother.

Some market women find it rude when you touch their wares.

I heard among the black Americans it is bad when someone touches your nose with her/her finger. It's an insult against one's mother. I don't know how if it is true.
