People that are doing very well and you're calling Sapa.

People that have investments and hundreds of millions of streams on their Solo songs.

People that has been performing at shows steadily and you're calling sapa.

These guys are twins mehn. Same mama and papa. They had their issues and decided to settle as family and Nigerians like you are saying Sapa.

Their own Sapa is like 50 million to you man.

The average and poor people in Nigeria always find a way to make mockery of the high class or rich ones.

Had it been they didn't reconci6, you'll still be typing or saying that they're stupid to allow money or woman to divide them.

I pity those who think these guys hands are clean.
Even though you're not as rich as him, is your hand clean? Are you perfect?

I don't know why the low and middle class feel insecure when someone is richer and better than them. It's either they tag him/her a ritualist or something else.

Grace differs and the same can be said of destiny.

Maybe all those dangote cement drivers road accidents are also rituals done by dangote.

FamilyRe: Is It Wrong To Cook In My Married Brother's House? by sosowater: 11:59am On Nov 10, 2021
This issue of "this is my kitchen", "you must take permission", etc has caused many problems in homes.

Who even said that the kitchen belongs to the woman?

I cook better than my siblings and my wife. They all look forward to eat what I prepared.

Now, when you see men that don't cook and always say they like fresh food, some wives and single ladies frown at that. But, hey, you said the kitchen belongs to you na so why are you saying away from cooking?

We make things complicated for ourselves by holding onto what doesn't have meaning.

This issue is simple.

There should be common rules (applicable to everyone in the family) with regards to usage of available foodstuffs and cleanliness of the kitchen after use.

There are wives that work 8-5pm and when they get back from work, they start cooking instead of resting. A brother in law or sister in law can simply help out if he or she knows how to cook to save her time.

They born wife and suffer? No.

There are in-laws and relatives that misuse things. All you need is to correct the person without your husband knowing. If it continues without any attempt to stop it, you can tell your husband.

As long as there is no mismanagement of foodstuffs and dirtiness in the kitchen after use, this shouldn't be an issue.

So if an inlaw wants to prepare tea, drink hot water or bath warm or hot water, he or she will go and take permission before entering? No, there's no problem with that one. It's only food that brings issue.

When I was staying with my brother, her niece do enter the kitchen to cook and eat anytime she wants bit I respected myself even though I do contribute. She (my brother's wife) do serve me food even in my room but later got tired. Most times, she will tell me to collect food whenever I'm hungry or ask me to cook whatever I want to eat if she's on fasting. When she prepares soup and I'm not around, she'll bring out mine and put the rest in the fridge. If I get home, she will simply tell me that my soup is in the pot or that I should take and reserve for my brother.

It was that simple.

Till this day, whenever I visit them and she's not around, I'll serve myself bearing in mind that the quantity I'll take should not affect the household.

Sometimes, I boil rice and everybody will eat (even as I'm with my own woman and staying on my own). That's because we had no issue with that. But this is just for me o. Nobody else from my side tries that, both man and woman.

The main thing is to build and maintain a healthy relationship with your sister in law.cos that's what causes most of these issues.

Some women don't even attach much importance to this kitchen stuff.

I can't remember the how many times my boss's wife entered kitchen to cook. The cooking is done mostly by her brother and her husband's nephew. Big woman.. she no even get time. Just tell her the things needed in the house and she'll buy them in full. There are over 5 people staying with them including drivers. Where she want get that strength to cook and dish for all?

Some women that are mean will quarrel with you no matter how close you guys are.

But some in-laws lack common sense. They misuse things too.

In all, it should not be an issue if there's no mismanagement or dirty environment after use.

And women should stop stereotyping themselves with kitchen matters.

Someone here said that you trespassed. I hope you know the meaning. It's a tortuous act. It's punishable in law.... hahahaha.

The kitchen belongs to your brother's wife. You can only use it at her permission. I hate to open my wife's pot.
You hate to open your wife's pot?

Wow.

I open my wife's pot without blinking an eye whenever I'm hungry.

It's not every time that I'll ask or expect her to give me food.

Most times, I'll be discussing with her in the sitting room and boom, I'm in the kitchen taking food to eat.

There's nothing there.

Believe me there are lesser opportunities and severe unemployment or underemployment

Hungary, Poland, Greece and the likes, should thank their stars they are part of the EU.
Their pay is still better than that of African countries. Also, they have a working system and an environment that exposes one too many opportunities.

I had a good weekend with a lot of practices. It was awesome practicing what I've learnt over and over again.

Yesterday, I started learning Flexbox and I didn't have any difficulty adapting to it. Today till Wednesday will be for practicing Flexbox using some ideas that came to me and some websites too.

Also, I'll get my hands on Grid. It's been a fast and effective learning process because my busin6gives me a lot of time and since I work from home, I am always on system learning and learning.

Before heading to JavaScript, I plan to build two or three websites with just HTML5 and CSS.

After that, I can proceed to JavaScript.

How I wish that I took this serious in 2018 when I started, I would have gone far, who knows..

But, I'm here now and won't back off again

There's a secret I've learnt with styling using CSS. when you want to have a clearer picture of what you're doing, use BORDER: 2px solid black; for the element you're trying to style that way you can see the "result" better. Although this doesn't mean that you will automatically achieve what you set out to achieve.

Keep learning you'll be "frustrated" but just keep at it you'll be fine.
Thank you man. I'll keep pushing.

My brother, age is not a barrier. I started programming around age 14 on a very antiquated computer. Those ones that were just a keyboard that you connect to a TV and drop into command line. Programmed in QBASIC. Saved the programs on a radio cassette. I was clueles about what I was doing but I was just typing the code from the book I was learning from. Fast forward to University and all I was doing was making sense. I was so good that I wrote my first programming exam 2 hours after coming from club and made an A. Programing I, II and CSC205-Data Structures and Algorithm were a breeze. This was back in the days of Redhat 3 I think. Then I got disillusioned and derailed. At 30 my senses came back and I had to refresh my Programming skills. Programming had migrated to Web Programming with PHP as king. I struggled to get HTML and CSS and PHP /mySQL into the the brain. But old soldier never dies. I went back to my C++ & Java jeje and OOP programming. The joy was undescribable. I have had highs and major lows (lost a job in a major Nigerian Gas Company that was paying ₦1.9m monthly at the time - we are talking years ago when dollar was ₦350). Went in to supply chain management and did Okay. But the pull from computing was too much. Came back into computing mid thirties and I must say I'm okay doing this. Persistence is key. You will overcome Las Las and will look at this learning period with joy.

I'm surprised (and pleased) that MirthOsas is encouraging you. I'm aware he is still learning the ropes and for some reason I like his spirit.
Wow. I'm inspired. Thanks for dropping by. I'm more encouraged to carry on.

Yesterday, I rounded up with CSS basics. Today, I practiced what I learnt with a new HTML file that I created.

I had a tough time with padding and margins but later got it.

By midnight, I'll practice more on paddings and margins so that they can "stick".

Also, I will venture into Flexbox after the practice. Next stop after Flexbox would be CSS animations.

I'm enjoying my spare time with this. I heard JavaScript isn't child's play but I can't wait to meet it.

Since I have some spare time now due to the nature of my business, I decided to learn web development again last month.

This time, I watched videos on HTML and practised along with the tutors and I can say that I am well grounded in HTML now.

I dedicated 3 weeks in October for HTML with a lot of practice.

On November 1st, I switched to CSS and it has been a great learning experience.

I think watching videos and practicing a lot helps more than just reading books or watching videos withput practice.

I plan to build my first project with just HTML and CSS to test my abilities.

Recommendations, motivation, and valuable criticism are welcomed.

Also, special thanks to tensazangetsu20. The dude really motivates me.

PS: I am starting this journey at my early 30s.

This thread is inspired by the programming diary created by MirthOsas.

I am relatively new to programming. I started learning web development (started with HTML on W3school) in 2018 but my freelancing and ecommerce business could not let me focus coupled with the fact that I found it boring then.

Since this year, I have been nursing the idea of getting into Tech.

I wanted Data science but my mind kept telling me "web development".

OBUKOMENA:
Good evening nairalanders! I hope you had a good day?

So, let me just go straight to my reason for opening this thread, and I hope I would be able to convey my thoughts impeccably:

It seems like some of our people who travelled to Germany aren't doing so well after all (I stand to be corrected, though!)
I have a friend over there whom I am preparing to go meet. This guy has been there since 2017. He hardly calls me on normal call. He would rather call on WhatsApp. Reason being so that he could get in touch cheaply. The first and only time I asked him to send me something, he told me pointblank he didn't have.
Just this afternoon, I heard a colleague's father just came back to Nigeria from there after 21 solid years! He had abandoned his wife and children here in Nigeria. If he was doing so well over there, would he not have arranged for his family to come over and stay with him - at least?

I have been worried, even before I heard this colleague's father thing: I don't know what I am going to meet at the friend's place; I don't know what life is like over there - how to cope in a non-English speaking environment. I don't know how long it's going to take me to make it over there and reconnect with my family. This news about my colleague's dad also increased my worries.

So, I decided I would come on here to ask: Aren't these red flags as regards traveling over there, especially with the hope that when i get there, after 2-3 years, I would bring in my family.
Anyone here knows about life in Germany?
There's nobody that I know (in Germany) that's is not doing well. I know 3 people and they're doing perfectly fine.

You don't expect someone that went there through an illegal route to be doing well because he won't have the papers to hustle.

You don't expect someone that could not tell the in demand skills or knowledge and go for it, to be doing well.

You don't expect someone that is doing menial jobs, paying bills and other things to be sending money to you in Nigeria because they don't pick money overseas. He has a family to take care of too so stop being a burden to him.

You don't exprct someone that went there and got carried away with the enjoyment - good system, freedom and quality of life to make money, save more and invest.

There are people making millions and yet they can't account for it but there are people making thousands and they have investments, no debts, and are living comfortably.

Every mallam with him own kettle.

If you want to go over there, just ensure that you're going through the right route and then go for skills/education that are in demand. Abtoad isn't Nigeria. Most technical skills, health related professions and handworks pay more because their citizens don't stress themselves with such. They (majority) prefer easy jobs like customer service, office admin, supply chain management, bank teller, restaurant manager, HR, executive assistant, business administration, etc. So, don't expect to get such jobs when there are many locals to do them. Racism aside, employers will prefer locals to do that over you.

Again, try to call your friend in Germany from Nigeria and see how much you'll be charged just for a minute call.

My brother, in abroad, a cent is valued. No money is small over there. If you're not financially disciplined, you won't have anything to show for your many years of working and living there.

Most of those people abroad live average life, which is quality too. They earn well, eat well, have good healthcare and enjoy a working system. The key thing is to make enough money in hard currency and do great things in Nigeria, which makes you a rich man in Nigeria.

Also, if you're planning to go and stay with your friend over there, be ready to have your own cash cos he won't be paying house rent, water bills, internet and electricity bills for you. You guys will be sharing it.

There's gold in Germany and some good countries too but know what you're going there for. Don't go there with the mindset of just doing small jobs that will pay you €8 or 12 euros per hour because it seems a big money when converted to naira. Have a skill or go for an indemand skill or course that will set you up for life.

Remember, make the money there, save and invest.

I lived in Ebonyi for a year and I frequented Enugu and Anambra axes. I picked only Anambra for obvious reasons. That's the only SE state on track. The rests are glorified villages. The level of poverty I saw in Ebonyi was unparalleled. Aside Anambra, Ogun's GDP is greater than the combined value of the productivity of Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Ábíá. You can check with all statistical journals of repute. And the standards of living in comparison? Don't even go there. Your brothers hopping on "God is good" and "Ifesinachi" buses to come "hustle" in the SW says a lot cool
Why not verify before you make trash claims? What is the GDP of Ogun that it will will be greater than that of the whole states you mentioned.

Even with the so called GDP, imo is more developed than ogun state even with the industries present in sagamu, mowe and ota. If not for the Lagos effect, Ogun would have been just like Ekiti.

SW? You ended up becoming even more foolish than the person you quoted. Which region is most developed in the South? Lagos factor apart, only Rivers, Akwa Ibọm, and Anambra, I believe, are comparable to the trio of Ogun, Oyo, and Ondo in the SW.
Clean your mouth. You haven't travelled yet.. minus Lagos, you can't compare anambra with Oyo state, not even with the capital, Ibadan and the other city, ogbomosho. You can't compare them with Nnewi, Nkpor, Onitsha, Awada, Awka, Ogidi...

In Delta, we have well developed cities aside warri and Asaba. We have Agbor (better than ogbomosho), Oghara,Ughelli, Abraka, etc.

The only Southwest state that I've not really been to is Ondo and I know that aside Akure and Ore, nothing else.

You can't compare the south south and south east with south west.

Never.

Don't boast with your capital cities

You can only mock ABA because of bad roads and dirtiness cos of incompetent government but you can't match the development in that City.

The only state you should be looking at for comparism is Edo State. There is nothing there.

Most young people wonder why Nigeria is in this terrible state it is, well this is one of the reasons right here.

I mean we all complain why we don't have good leaders, why our leaders keep taking us for granted with impunity ; but then we forget we are the ones who empower and encourage them to do so.

I understand the author of this article claimed he's trying to fact check the Peter Obi's alleged corruption against the law, but what he doesn't know is that he has given an easy way out for the man to wriggle himself out of this mess he presently found himself and has even encouraged more politicians like Peter Obi to do this same thing and get away with it.

Nobody accused Peter Obi of being a thief years after his tenure expired as a governor probably because he had all his flanks covered and even kept on boasting about his clean and impeccable records up till this moment that the Pandora papers actually revealed he's not as clean as he claimed to be. Now a lawyer boldly coming out to start explaining tax law just to prove that the man might have done one or two things to help himself to make some money against the "Mr integrity" picture he was selling to us all ; it just looks somehow.

Later we will all be complaining why People like Tinubu and Odili got perpetual injunction prohibing the authorities from trying them for allegations bothering on financial misappropriation if their hands are actually clean; we will complain why EFCC didn't go after Tinubu after the bullion van episode; we will complain why Orji Uzor Kalu is a free man today walking up and down Nigeria on political visits despite what he did with Abia state's funds through Slok...... What we fail to understand is that people like this author that are smart and young will always be there to offer their "professional views" and claim to be fact checking when in fact they are emboldening future politicians to even do worse Than the present.
Please o, answer this question: Is it a crime to register and start a business in another country that has little or no tax laws?

Also, remember that this was done before he became a governor.

As for me, I see no crime there. I have seen many Nigerian dropshippers register their businesses in US while living in Nigeria.

Do you expect them to pay tax to Nigeria for businesses they registered in US?

The man and his partners registered their businesses in the country and there's no least holding them against it.
CelebritiesRe: How Oliver De Coque Most Kept Secret Took Him To Early Grave by sosowater: 4:23pm On Sep 28, 2021
Shellsploit:
Chief Dr. Oliver Sunday Akanite (April 14, 1947 – June 21, 2008) was a Nigerian highlife musician and guitarist who recorded more than 73 albums to his credit, making him the most popular highlife king of Africa. His music band group are known as Ogene Sound Super of Africa, which blended modern high life and traditional Igbo music.

The music star had 12 kids: seven boys and five girls. And they all enjoyed their father’s presence. “It was awesome. My siblings and I didn’t see him as a famous figure. He was a normal, caring, jovial and loving dad to us,” Darlington Akanite, one of his sons, disclosed to press men.

While growing up, Oliver was popularly called the Game Master. This was because he was good at the game of draft. Draft in Igbo language is ‘Okwe.’ People began to call him Oliver De Ka Okwe. He then changed the name to sound more like a French name; that was how he came up with Oliver De Coque.

He loved to buy clothes. He spent a lot of money maintaining his looks. In fact, he spent N30,000 on his beard weekly and that amounted to N120,000 monthly.

He went to his salon twice a week. He always said his beard was his signature look. He said if someone decided to keep a beard, it was right to maintain it.

He fell ill at the end of 2007. He was diabetic and hypertensive. Most artistes don’t like to disclose their health challenge.

His son is of the opinion that if he had disclosed his health challenge, he would have gotten help quick. He was ill for three months. “He then recovered in February 2008 and began to go for shows. He died on June 20 but he had planned to travel to the US on July 2 for checkup,” Darlington added.

He told the press that it was as if his father knew he was going to die because on the day he died, he decided to stay indoors. “And he wanted me to stay by his side.”

“That morning, after he had his breakfast, he began to feel ill. He said he was going to cancel his appointment for that day. I didn’t know it was a serious matter; all I did was to console him. I went to the bathroom to take a shower and then told him that I wanted to visit a few friends. He begged me not to leave his side; I became upset. I thought he was depriving me of catching fun. I grudgingly stayed back.”

While Darlington stayed with him, he began to tell him of how he started his career. As he said the story, he complained of not breathing well. Oliver then decided to go to hospital. On their way to the hospital, he called the driver to increase the temperature of the air conditioner; he said he was feeling hot. His son became scared when he began to shout ‘wheelbarrow! wheelbarrow! ‘Darlington, please bring a wheelbarrow.’”
Darlington wondered what was happening. It was after he died he realised the highlife maestro was referring to a wheel chair.

I think he was becoming paralysed and unconscious. When we got to the hospital, he was rushed to the emergency ward.

“Throughout his time at the hospital, he kept begging me to save him but there was nothing I could have done,” the son said.

Before he died, he held Darlington’s hand close to his side as he took his last breathe. His son closed his eyes and kissed him on the forehead. “I was so confused about all that happened.”

If Oliver had made his health condition public, the son believes more than 200 Igbo people would have laid their lives down for him.

He is gone, leaving behind a vacuum. But he’s taught the entire family a lesson: whenever one is facing a challenge, one shouldn’t keep quiet about it. “I want people to learn from his death.”

Even your family should be left in the dark on such an important occasion of your life?

You don't seem to get it. It's just like going somewhere without intimating your family on where you're going in case one gets missing. So they know where to go looking for you.
If you just walk up to them and say you are married. Do you think they will believe you? Especially here in Africa. Like it's that easy? No now.

As long as they are not aware, you still remain unmarried to them and if anything happens, such a couple will be treated as mere boyfriend and girlfriend. Even me, that's how I'll regard such.

Let not encourage what is not good on.

The youth will just wake up and the devil will minister nonsense to them and theyll follow without reasoning it out.
Hian!
So, who snapped the picture?

Since you didn't see the pictures of people in attendance, you don't need to conclude that their parents and close friends weren't there.

No priest will wed you in Catholic church without the consent of the families. First, you'll undergo marriage course and marriage announcements will be made at your home (village) church.

That aside, the girl only posted picture of her, the hubby and the priest.

Let's not be deceived by what we see on social media. You might be surprised that the church was filled with crowd or over 30 people since we didn't see a picture of the entire church.

This is social media and everybody wants to trend.

Above all, they're married and I wish them a blissful journey ahead
