TravelRe: Dana, ADC & Sosoliso Ban: Airline Operators Want Ban Lifted by soulamanne(m): 9:18am On Jul 27, 2012
We are not exploring the merger option in our aviation industry.even the well developed countries do it.some airlines are not fit to be on their own.why not merge and set up a formidable airline that is strong enough for a market like ours...large fleet of very sound aicrafts(say 10),a standard website that can handle high capacity etc.business wise,it even makes a lot of sense
CareerRe: When Did You Know You'd Be Bagging A 3rd Class (or Pass) ? by soulamanne(m): 6:31am On Jun 14, 2012
I did a 4yr course(engineering physics) and I started having an inkling of my 3rd class in my last semester.I was already hovering between the last points of a 2.2 and the early points of a 3rd in the 3 preceeding semesters b4 d last.I did very well in my extra semester but that wouldn't even salvage d situation. Inasmuch as I solely take d blames and bear the brunt of the grade myself,I beleive the nature of the course added to it.cramming was the order of the day and that's my weakness.atleast I passed courses one doesn't need to cram very well.then maybe I got carried away by my very first result in school.I started with a 4.61 with very little effort and I swear till I left that ife,it seemed my GP was always being halved each semester(lol).I guess the nail in the coffin was a missing result.it was a part 3 course I had failed and when I did it again,I passed.my my results was already computed with an F.when d result wasn't found, they just threw in an E after I had troubled them.
It is true that our schools lack good feedback procedure to keep us on our toes but then that's why we need to calculate our CGPAs ourselves..now since 2009 ve been an the street and the reality is dawn on me.ve been doing one or 2 things like trainings, working with small firms etc and ve really garnered experience.ithe most pain ve had was when I got shortlisted for an MTN job.given experience ve had woking with their engineers,I had already passed the 2stages of interview where I was tagged "impressive".my case got to the HOUR and that was where it died;company policy on 3rd class.ve moved on but pple it hurt bad!I actually still had a chance of being employed cos of my experience but the irony is just that it was the connection that got me to where I could proove myself that still worked against me.cos there were many Pple for the job.politics played in and only the stronger ones made it.I even know of a fellow 3rd classer who got the job but am not complaining.
So this 3rd class thing is a really nig stigma no matter how intelligent u are
TravelRe: Aero Contractor Plane Misses Runway At Uyo Airport by soulamanne(m): 5:39am On Jun 07, 2012
[quote author=temmytanny]I DONT think shoul be carried away by this story. Was it engine, mechanical fault that caused the mishap or heavy rain storm. If its rain storm,it can happen to any airline any where in the world, because of poor visibility of the run way by the cabin crew.I am not trying to support AERO but we should be careful about propaganda stories now. If not for DANA,no body would have heard the story of AIRNIGERIA flying dead planes. Funny enough the story came from someone who has worked for them since they started operations. why didnt he complain why he was working for them? NOw that he is sacked and wanted for stealing,he remembers that they are flying dead planes.
Even the airlines with best most recent aircraft had issues while i flew it somedays ago. We had to wait for an hour in another country for it to be fixed before we could embark on our journey.

IF YOU ARE A FREQUENT TRAVELER ,YOUR LIFE IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD AND NOT THE MEN FLYING THOSE PLANES EVEN THE DRIVERS ON OUR ROADS. ALL WEE NEED IS PRAYERS AND SAFE JOURNEY.[/quote

Look,u just said my mind in ur words so I shall say no more.God bless u
PoliticsRe: "Air Nigeria" Is A Flying Coffin, Former Executive Director Says by soulamanne(m): 9:25am On Jun 05, 2012
Inasmuch as one has to take the allegations seriously, one at the same time has to read in between the lines.why has this man waited this long to alert us?why just few days after the dana aircrash?how are we not supposed to think he has a personal vandetta against mr.ibrahim and there wouldn't be a better time to hit him than this?what circumstances made him resign?was air nigeria not in this mess during his time?u see there a 1001 questions begging for answer.there is more than what meets the eye in this issue.
However,am of the opinion we are all at the mercy of all these airlines.we will never know the true nature of the aircrafts we fly until something terrible happens.God save us.
As per jimoh,no beefs intended but since the first day I saw him at OAU,ife where he came to do a talk,he has never looked someone I like.he runs his mouth a lot.

The moment I saw this thread,I thanked the author and knew I would see enought stories as almost everyone has had an ordeal with these devils in black.I ve had so many ordeals with them that I don't know which to write.but the good thing is none got me behind their counters though to their den called station.
The conclusion is just that these boys are our enemies.at a time after driving me around in their bus,and couldn't point at anything, they told me to pay for the fuel they had burnt or else they would go and throw me amidst robbers!

May God protect us

My dad keeps date a lot.he writes dates on almost anything so he has never forgotten any of our birthdays(6 of us).but my mum;she always has to be reminded of the day's date.her tenants love her so much cos she doesn't even rmbr what dates thr rents are due.she always forgets our bdays except for the first child and hers.my bday was the 23rd and she came into the room as usual to ask what I would eat.I had gone out b4 ahe started callin to wish me happy bday after my dad had told her.u see the theory is if the person doesn't rmbr dates naturally it isn't a big deal.then I ve come to realise that parents are thinkin so much abt thr children that they even forget thr bdays.I ve never taken in offence in my mum's missin my bday.so OP don't be.it doesn't mean they love u less.they will try to rmbr nx year but trust, they will soon forget again by june!

should do the job. Before 2 minutes the victims; a man and a woman were already sitting In the back seat of the bus. The Oga asked the woman 'Madam, Can you prove that your chain na your own, where you buy am, how much? The woman said she bought it for 30euros in Paris and that she does not have evidence with her. One officer then said, ‘we need a picture wey you took putting this chain on’. The male victim responded that the woman already told them they don't have such evidence with them. Before long the Oga, told one officer to follow them out of the bus and to broker a deal with them on how much they were willing to part. So the next thing I saw was the man came in with some money and handed it over to Oga.

While this was going on, I told the armed man that was sitting beside me (obviously, to prevent me from coming down) that he should talk to his colleagues that I want to take my leave. He responded ‘so you dey command me'. I answered ‘No sir, I dey beg you, make you talk to them make them let me go. Its getting late and I have to do some other things. He responded 'sebi Yoruba ni e', fun wa ni n'kan, yee se agidi mo' meaning you are a Yoruba man, give us something and don't be adamant. So I said I don't have money. He responded that at least you have ATM in your wallet and some money. I replied that my purse is with your Oga. As this discussion continued, the Oga came inside and said 'Mr. Man wetin you wan give us before we take you to the station. I said I won't follow them to the station. Then he said 'give us 5000 Naira make you dey go . I responded that he has my wallet and my phone, so he gave me my wallet and my phone and all the business cards and ID-Crads he took from my wallet. So I told him I don't have transport fare. He said I should bring the 5000 naira first. So I handed him the money and he gave me 1000Naira. Then I was released. I took my umbrella, tried to see the van plate number but could not. So I left.

Tell me, is Nigeria reparable? While thee political thieves are steeling with their whims, thee police have taken side with the armed robbers and now the stealing and looting continues.

and I demanded why they should be man handling me. The uniformed men then said, you have to join us in our bus, and they searched me took my blackberry phone, as I tried to make a call, and also took my wall. I was left with my umbrella. So I was dragged and forced along to a commercial bus parked some distance away. I was asked to enter, I refused, I observed that just some few yards in front of the bus, a police van was parked, but I could not see the number. One of my assailants tried to disperse the crowd who was looking helplessly and he said 'Now you don call all the Nigerian people, make dem come help you, so why dem no fit help you now, yeye man, this is not Ghana, this is Nigeria'.

As I refused to board the bus, I was forcefully pushed inside, I fell on the floor, hitting my head, and my buttock and sustaining minor injuries on my left ear. Now I am in for a big trouble. The Oga came walked from the police van into the bus, sat on the front row of the persengers' seat in front of me and said 'so na you dey give us trouble? What do you do? Where do you work? I replied that he has my ID-Card and my wallet, and all the information is there. He looked at it and said, ‘wetin be ur position for your office? How much be your salary? Where you Dey stay?’ I did not answer him. So he said ‘you be 419, you be yahoo yahoo, you be thief’. I did not respond, I was looking like the proverbial lukumon. Later he took my hospital ID and saw B +ve and said ‘se dis na your own’ I said Yes. So he responded ‘you be positive’, I responded with a yes, Rhesus positive. He then asked whether I was from Ghana, I said no. He said where do you live I told him. He asked if the address I mentioned was in Kuwait, I looked at him with disdain and said no. After about 30 minutes he asked the driver to move to the station that 'this man be thief '. As we moved, one of them spotted another victim and asked that they accost them. So the bus halted and the Oga said one officer without uniform
CrimeAssaults On Innocent Citizens By Nigerian Police;a Friend's Ordeal by soulamanne(op): 10:55am On Mar 25, 2012
It was about 15 minutes before 5pm, on Saturday 24th march, 2012. I walked out of Ozone Cinemas after seeing a movie 'Τhe man on the Ledge'. I decided to stroll to the Yaba park and board a bus home. I walked past a skye bank and decided to use the ATM, I withdrew 5000ngn and continued towards the park. Boarded a bus which took too long to get filled up, after waiting In the bus for a while, I decided to move forward to get another bus that may be filled up on time. This was my mistake, and my ordeal started.

Having moved a little bit to Yaba bus-stop where we have buses and crowd moving in different directions. I was challenged by a man in mufti waving what looked like a 200 year old police ID-Card and said 'I want to see your ID-Card. Not sure of what to do, I looked at him and continued moving. He pulled me and said he needed to see my ID-Card , so I stop and said let me see yours. He flashed the card again. I made for my wallet from my jean back pocket, and before I could open it, two more men in everyday cloth joined him and also flashed their ID-Cards. So I halted bringing out of mine as I asked them to explain the meaning of what they were doing. The response was simple, ‘Let us see your ID-Card’, I brought it out and showed them. One of them made for my hand and took the ID-Card from me. I vehemently demanded that he gave me my ID-Card but he refused. The third man said 'Mr. Man, please follow us to our van’. I demanded why I should do that, but before I could say Jack, one man pulled my jean by the belt and started dragging me. Then I shouted at them and said you people are thieves, you are not police men. Leave me alone. Then crowd started gathering, so I tried to let off the grab, but the men overwhelmed me. So I said this is unacceptable, injustice and continued blabbing. Before long, two uniformed men came with their guns and asked me why I should be arguing with officers. But I replied that these men could be thieves
