I hope some of these murders/assassinations in the North are not done by people settling scores with one another without any link to Boko Haram but we just lump them all up as Boko Haram. The Intelligence body should do their job.
PoliticsRe: Is State Of Emergency The Best Option For Boko-Haram? by soulfood(m): 8:01am On May 15, 2013
Neo-XVI:
Nigerian leaders have always been poor in creativity and approach to solving problems. There's insecurity in the land, so implement state of emergency and it will be solved. Yes? Wish it were that simple.

Question to ask yourself is, what did the last state of emergency from Dec 31, 2011 to July 18, 2012 solve?
Are we looking for a temporary panacea or a long term solution and eradication of the menace?
What have our security agencies been doing since this BH issue reared up? Have they acquired intelligence dossiers on those involved, who their financiers are, how they get their guns and ammo, how their logistics are organized, how many, and the spread of their sleeper cells?

This is only a feel good measure. Nothing more. Nothing stops the BH boys from moving to Jigawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe or Kano. I am no security expert but I think they can do a few more meaningful things like

- put the northern borders on lock down. I don't know the amount of trade across the northern border, but I don't think it is much anyway
- freeze the assets of their Nigerian financiers, and prosecute these folks. Until people start paying the price for their crimes, the status-quo will remain.
- cut off their arms supply. Very important
- infiltrate and destroy their cells
- take out (assassinate) their more influential leaders and commandos.
- immobilize their logistics. These guys can't possibly have a sophisticated operation. Haba!

And while you're slowly decapitating them, still leave the amnesty option open. They will soon start coming to the table voluntarily. Nobody dey tell mad man say rain dey fall.
Your head dey there. Infact I hope you have plans for joining the NSA team.

PoliticsBREAKING NEWS: Boko Haram Gives FG New Conditions For Amnesty by soulfood(op): 6:13pm On Apr 10, 2013
A leader of the Boko Haram sect, Muhammad Marwan, has said that if the Federal Government would not blackmail or deceive them as was done in the past, they will be ready to avail themselves for dialogue as was initiated by the Northern Elders Forum.

Marwan spoke in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA) monitored in Kaduna on Tuesday, adding that he was speaking on behalf of members of Jamatul Ahlus Sunnati lil Daawati wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram, on the call by Northern Elders Forum for amnesty for the sect members.

“We thank Allah, we will extend our hands for dialogue to the northern elders just as was done before under my leadership. But if they come there shouldn’t be any deceit in it as was experienced in the past,” he said.

Marwan, who said they were yet to be contacted on the issue of amnesty, however agreed that dialogue was the most important thing in settling matters between aggrieved parties and hoped that a genuine and sincere discussion would eventually lead to amicable resolution of the dispute.

His words: My hope is this, everyday, it is the government that is seeking for this ,on matters pertaining to everyday life, we thank Allah our hope is that there shouldn’t be any deceit, let them come for it. This dialogue is the most important, it is what people want, anytime the issue of dialogue comes in, it is what people are looking for to settle matters between two warring factions.

“Nobody contacted us on this amnesty and we did not contact anybody also. What I’m saying now, truly you are talking with Muhammad Marwan and those that sat with me in the past, will definitely know that you are talking to Muhammad Marwan. I hope if they come through the right channel just as they came to us in the past, Allah willing, they will achieve the desired result. I am assuring the Muslim community particularly in the North, the desired result will be achieved but they should pray so that there will not be any blackmail and deceit on the government’s part as was experienced in the past. This should be their prayers,” he said.

Similarly, an analyst on Boko Haram issues currently in Washington DC for a course, Hamza Idris also spoke with the VOA Hausa Service on the proposed amnesty for the Boko Haram members, saying it’s a good intention but urged that there were certain matters that have to be looked at critically.

“For example it’s a person who believes he has offended that you can now tell that he has been forgiven. That’s my believe in the years that I’ve been writing on the Boko Haram. This is because the sect members still believe they have been offended, that the Federal Government offended them and therefore, if it comes to forgiving, it is they , if they wanted, that will forgive the federal government and not the government to forgive them. “

“Their thinking is what have they done? Like all these security breaches, in their opinion they feel it is like a revenge on what was done to them in 2009. The killing of their leader, destroying their mosque and dispersing the sect members. The government said that all their activities are not recognized by law.

“So when they decided to retaliate, they said they don’t even believe there is anything like government or leadership in the whole of Nigeria. So if you are granting amnesty to someone who doesn’t even recognize your existence, then there is a missing link. They don’t even believe in the existence of the Federal Government so it is something ambiguous to say you are granting them amnesty.
“But in my understanding, there are certain things that should be done. If you look at the past few months, their leader, Abubakar Shekau and those talking for the group have been explaining certain things ,if these things will be carefully looked at, if honest people will be engaged, religious leaders and so on, if people that will not bring the issues of politics will be involved, it will not be a surprise to achieve success.

“First and foremost, the kind of ideology they adopted is independent,on what pertains to religion. If you look at the constitution ,it gives people the freedom of worship. But when they were dispersed, they were denied the freedom to practice their kind of religion. When their mosque was destroyed, anybody who comes out and professed their kind of religion will be dealt with, security agents will arrest him and say the federal government is not in support of that religious creed. So it is therefore necessary to sit down with them and discuss these issues toward resolving them.

“Secondly, many of the sect members have been arrested and detained in prisons, military, police and other security camps like that of the SSS. They explained that it will not be possible to sit down with you for dialogue when everyday, your members are being arrested and detained.

“They also talked about their little children, wives that are detained and they believe in the whole world, nowhere is a war fought and children with their mothers are arrest and taken to unknown destinations. These are important issues that should be put on table to deliberate and find the solution.

“Also, this talk of nobody knows them, they are ghosts etc, it is an important problem that should be resolved. For example, the President had said he won’t grant amnesty to ghosts, and now he agreed to grant the amnesty to ghosts. This is difficult problem, in my opinion that statement should be changed, it should be now there are some sect members in detention and we are going to start discussing with them. If the talks are genuine and sincere, perhaps it won’t be difficult to achieve result.

“Many of them are detained, some in Abuja, some in Maiduguri, many were taken to other towns in the South. If you are talking of the youth, they are countless. If for example there was a raid in Maiduguri,40 to 50 youths will be arrested at a time .Weapons will be displayed that they belonged to the youths. So if such things are happening, the idea that no one knows them does not even arise. If you will arrest 40 and claim to have discovered certain weapons from them, them the idea of saying you don’t know them shouldn’t arise,” he said.

mr.official2:
What is it that you guys don't understand? Did you expect ordinary Nigerians to have gone and fought the robbers or what? What are the duties of the security personnels that are there? If the security agency couldn't stop/apprehend them, who will?

Were you at the protest ground at Ojota in January last year? Well, I was there thrice. A country which peaceful protest was disparsed with Army under democratic government, WTF? The whole system needs cleansing! If they won't allow us protest bad governance, at least they won't stop us from laughing at their gaffes and incompetencies. And stop attributing the Sambo Garri suicide bomb blast with "My Oga At The Top". Boko Haram has been rocking the nation before the issue of "My Oga At The Top" surfaced. One way or the other, they will always be a loophole for them to strike due to the security nature of the country.
The text bolded by you was an extract from Mr Charlie Boy's article. You are only reiterating what I wrote below it.

While we were busy gossiping, creating cartoons, producing T. Shirts, and cooking beats in the studio to ridicule just a single individual, we lost millions of naira at the Murtula Mohammed Airport, Lagos to some armed men who stormed the airport, harassing both Nigerians and foreigners. I heard they had a swell moment at the airport. You can’t just imagine that armed robbers could succeed even in an International Airport. Where is safe then? “Yet, we were busy with My oga at the top”

While we took the joke to another level, the Boko Haram militants also saw our weaknesses and carefree attitude, and they hit us hard, killing well over 60 people in the Kano bomb attack. They beat all security apparatus in place in the volatile city, because, we refused to watch our back as we were laughing at

If I have my way in the Presidency, its gonna be 100 Ambulances. Its NDelta Oil Money, not cocoa money, and not Groundnut Pyramid money.
You are either an illiterate or you can't read. USA has airforce one and yet their aviation industry is also highly funded and very safe. The writer was making a comparison as to why the presidency will have 17 "unused" ambulances when citizens do not have basic health care and hospitals do not have ambulances. USA has a working system, it's not perfect but they do no tolerate corruption like GEJ. You are the nematode. So if many people work at the presidency, they will all fall sick and need ambulances to get to the clinic at the same time. What is the chance of that happening?TOAD!

pro01: Someone should kindly tell me how GEJ's (2 year) administration is worse than OBJ's eight years in power. I have since concluded that shallow people (which describes many of the most vocal critics of the present administration) hate GEJ not necessarily for his actions or inactions, but because of his person and persona.

(Un)fortunately, GEJ is not as rambunctious, belligerent, swashbuckling, untamed, and uncouth as Obasanjo, which makes him seem less exciting and therefore 'worse'. It's all a matter of perception; groundless perception based on appearances rather than substance.

How, in cold facts and figures, is corruption - all forms of corruption - worse under GEJ than it was under Obasanjo? Nigeria earned the highest revenues in her history during Obasanjo's eight wasted years in power. How did that tell on our lives? Were the roads better under OBJ than they are now? Was the power supply better than it is now? Were our hospitals better equipped? Was there greater infrastructural development under OBJ than now? Was there less wastage of public funds under OBJ than now? Was the Rule of Law better observed under OBJ than it is under GEJ? Was general insecurity any less under OBJ than it is today (minus the emergent Boko Haram phenomenon, which sensible people realise is a political ploy to return power to the north)? Was the public service more efficient under OBJ than it is now? Most importantly, did Nigerians have more food on their tables under OBJ than they have today under GEJ (despite the fact that the country earned more courtesy of record crude oil prices during OBJ's eight years)? What then, is the basis for maligning GEJ as the worst thing to happen to Nigeria? Could it be merely because of his unpretentious appearance and underwhelming personality? Or could it be because of his unfashionable trademark hat? Because of his perceived lack of 'swagger'? Is that enough to justify so much baseless hate?

Do you so easily forget that the highest number of politically motivated assassinations occurred under Obasanjo, and ALL of them (including the murder of a serving Minister of Justice/Attorney-General) remain unresolved?

Again, how can anyone forget that political corruption, which is arguably worse than financial corruption, was elevated to official state practice under Obasanjo? In Nigeria's political history, has there been any election worse than the 2003 and 2007 general elections conducted by Obasanjo? Compare that with GEJ's demonstrable resolve not to tamper with electoral processes - which has seen the freest and fairest elections in Nigeria's history take place under him (e.g. Edo, Ondo, Anambra, Imo, etc). Gradually, the phenomenon of election-rigging is becoming extinct, primarily because GEJ refuses to endorse such, even to his own party's detriment. Can you say the same for OBJ?

Have we forgotten how Obasanjo sought to ALTER the constitution to prolong his stay in power through a dubious third term provision? Is that brazen act of political corruption not infinitely worse than pardoning a penitent convicted man?

I can go on and on, but the imperative of brevity constrains me. The fact is that we cannot judge GEJ in isolation. He had predecessors, and if we cannot prove how his administration is worse than those of his predecessors (especially OBJ), then we have serious issues indeed.
Let us face the real issues raised in the article. The article was not about who is better of GEJ and OBJ but about Nigeria and how GEJ as its present leader is following the path of corruption like his predecessors, instead of charting new territories of fresh air he promised us. He should have told us during the election campaign that we will have to breathe the corrupt air during his regime too. Leadership is to serve, not to feed yourself fat but by all indications Mr GEJ is more interested in doing the latter. I am waiting to see how he intends to win an election in this country ever again. That is one game plan i want to see.

All these GEJ die hard fans e

What i read was that wizkid refused to continue with EME and Banky W said EME was holding talks to convince him otherwise. Are you saying it's EME that refused to agree to some new terms from Wizkid?
Music/RadioUnasked Questions. Can Wizkid Exit EME Or Not? by soulfood(op): 4:25pm On Feb 21, 2013
If Wizkid can leave EME just like that without getting sued or paying the label through his nose buy buying his way out, then i wonder at the following.

1. Wasn't there a recording contract/agreement between the artiste and label specifying the number of years or records he has to make with them.
2. If there was, did Wizkid sign this document and is it still available with the label?
3. Is the term(years of working with EME) stated in the agreement up?
4. If not, why is EME not suing Wizkid?
5. Banky W comes across to me as a very intelligent man especially after his response to Reuben Abati some years back. Why is he allowing sentiments and trading words on twitter instead of getting a good entertainment lawyer to take up his case.
We need answers to these questions and our newspapers and blogs must start doing some serious investigative journalism and not staying on twitter and facebook to get news.
The Nigerian music industry is undergoing rapid growth and the examples being set by artistes after gaining a little fame and money is not good. If there is an agreement for Wizkid to do so and so, and he signed to it, Banky W and EME must do right by taking him to court. It shouldn't end on twitter by wishing him well while he thinks he was being used. The court should decide. Cause if Wizkid does it, future artistes will do same. If this continues, nobody will want to promote young artistes cause they will see it as bad market.
There is no sentiments in Business. If he wants to go, he can go but after settling what is left in the agreement(if any). If none, EME no try at all.

Music/RadioRe: How Will You Rate D'banj's Performance At AFCON Closing Ceremony by soulfood(m): 12:08pm On Feb 12, 2013
I will rate 2 aspects of his performance
Singing 10%
Movement 55%
The singing was very poor. Here is an internationally acclaimed singer unable to lip sync successfully to his own song( listen to the first verse in the video). He missed quiet a number of lines and had to stop singing while allowing the music play.
His movement not bad but the choreographers added so much color and beauty to the performance that its even hard to rate him here.
