There are some songs that have become major hits but I couldn't understand or comprehend how people got around enjoying them. Topping my list is Stereoman's Ekwe Sample. O Boy(whistles), music lovers grooved that jam and I wondered why? The beat and song were fighting each other. Next is Dr Sid's Something About you. Heavy paid rotation got me enjoying it eventually. And lastly and most recently is Skelewu by Davido. Maybe I would okay the beat. Beat aint bad at all but what is "Laga dis,Laga dat". Have you ever had songs you heard the first time and you trashed it only for the same song to become a major hit? Please share. |
Most of the Christian couples that I know do not pray together. I know one Christian brother who flat out refuses to pray together with his wife. He says he prays by himself, but he won't pray together with his wife. Praying with his wife makes him feel too uncomfortable, so he won't pray with her. I hate to say it, but his views are not uncommon. Very few Christian couples actually take the time to pray together. Pollster George Barna recently reported his findings from interviews with 3,142 randomly selected adults, 1,220 of whom were born-again Christians. Here are the results of his poll: (1) Of those who are non-Christian, 23% have seen their marriage go through the devastation of a divorce. (2) 27% of those who call themselves born-again Christians have been divorced. (That makes the divorce rate higher among Christians than non-Christians.) (3) Of those who label themselves “Fundamentalist Christians,” 30% have experienced a divorce. FamilyLife has surveyed of thousands of Christian couples and found that less than 8% pray together on a regular basis. That is a shockingly low percentage. However, according to a poll on Christian couples who actively pray together, the divorce rate is less than one percent. Less than one percent! This begs the question: How often do you pray with your spouse? Don't include the mealtime blessing, that doesn't count. The response to the question is enlightening because most couples very rarely pray together, with the exception of the mealtime blessing. So why don't we pray with our spouses? I think it is because we just don't realize the importance of prayer to our marital relationship. Most people acknowledge that prayer is very important to them but they simply fail to do it on any regular basis. The fact of the matter is that if we don't pray very much, then prayer is really not very important to us. Which do you believe? 1. Prayer important to your relationship with your spouse. 2. Prayer is just a formality at mealtimes. Do you believe that prayer has any real effect on the depth of companionship within your marriage? In reality, whatever you actually do at present in your home is the clearest revelation of what you truly believe regarding prayer. You may say that prayer is important to your relationship with your spouse, but if you are not doing it, then it is not important to you. When I talk about praying with your spouse, I'm talking about the two of you sitting down together, holding hands, and seriously praying. You need to pray together daily if possible, in a place and time when you won't have distractions. You may be wondering just why prayer is so important to couples. Christ Embassy's Children Church is our wonderful feature on this week's edition of Raising Godly Children. I am blown away by their passion for children and i am sure readers will learn a lot too. The Christ Embassy children's church is based on Proverbs 22: 6, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. According to them, life is full of choices which could make it very confusing and difficult for children to deal with. Children are taught how to work and use the word of God in every situation of life. They teach the children how to live life according to the word of God. Jesus said in John 8:12, Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. The class runs for at least an hour and they sing, dance and have a laugh. They have different age groups ranging from 2years to 12years. They share scriptures from the bible about the mighty men and women in the bible and also look at what challenges they faced in life and how they used the word of God to overcome them. There is always a segment were children share testimonies and even ask questions. 1 Corinthians 3:11 says, For what other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Hence the focus at the children church is to lay a foundation of Christ in the children. As the children go into the world, the teachers have the confidence that they will became a success no matter what is going on around them. There are times we find committed Christians whose children grow up as unbelievers. You might then want to ask “Why is this so and who is to blame?” Really, you can’t always blame such children because it’s the responsibility of parents to train up their kids in the way of the Lord, for that’s what the Word says. So when you see a child that’s not walking on the path of righteousness, chances are that child hasn’t been trained to choose and walk in that path of life. If you’re a parent, you ought to have a vision for your children, especially while they’re still young. Don’t wait till they’re grown-up before you teach them what to do and how to live. Train them to do what’s right from their formative years, and when they grow up they’ll continue in that path. We talk a lot about Solomon and his wisdom. But it was his father (David) who trained him to follow the right path in life. David was wise to guide his son the way he did. When you study the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, you’ll discover that Solomon hearkened to his father’s counsel. When God appeared to Solomon and asked what he wanted, he knew exactly what to ask for since he had been trained aright. His father David taught him to choose wisdom and esteem it above riches (Proverbs 4:1-5). There are parents who say, “I try not to impose anything on my children. I let them make their decisions by themselves.” That’s not what the Bible teaches; the role of parents transcends just feeding, clothing and sheltering their children. Parents are to shield their children and wards from the vices that pervade today’s world, and guide them along the path that’s just and right. Don’t forget that our choices in life are influenced by the information we have. Therefore, when children are not exposed to Holy Spirit – inspired information, they’ll pick up whatever information they find in the world and make choices based on them. Don’t allow your child grow up in foolishness; train him with the Word of God and as he grows up, he’ll not depart from it. Take conscious steps today toward making advancements in this area also. God bless you! Source: http://helpingtheparents..com/2013/11/raising-godly-childrenchrist-embassys.html

Wonders shall never end. This is definitely worth reading for all(especially parents) to learn. And to our pastors and churches worldwide, security of children within the church must always remain a priority as we constantly develop new methods of checking wolves amongst sheep like Israel and his friends below. Israel Ekwuruibe is a devout catholic. Aside attending church regularly, he was a member of the choir at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Finima in Bonny, Rivers State. On Sunday, September 29, he went to church and sat on the choir pew, using his baritone voice to sing praises to God. But deep within him was a sinister plan that had been conceived along with five others to kidnap the little son of a church member for a ransom. As soon as he sighted the car of their target, Israel made a sign to other gang members who were also within the church building, pretending to be genuine worshippers. The other suspects were Ifeanyi who was said to have formed the gang, Godswill Bernard, Loveday Anakwuru, Ogechi Nwosu (also a church member) and Odinaka Gabriel. Before anyone knew what was happening, little James (not real name) was nowhere to be found. Israel and other gang members found their way out of the church but it did not take long before their evil deed became exposed. They were picked one by one in Finima. The leader, who had gone as far as Akwa Ibom State with the child, was apprehended along the way by the military joint task force before any ransom could be collected. This was how the Rivers State Police Command recently thwarted the plans of a kidnap gang, which thought it would make cool millions from a staff of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Bonny (names withheld) by kidnapping his three-year-old son. Crime Reports gathered that the kidnapped boy’s father reported at the Finima Division that he could not find his three-year-old son while in church. At about 3.45p.m., the man was said to have returned to the station, saying that someone called him with number 07010806571 and demanded for N15million as ransom. The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the division, Mohammed Suleiman Baba, a Superintendent of Police, reportedly swung into action while asking the man to play along by saying that he only had N50,000. If only we can have such women in Nigeria(and men too). One is busy buying armored cars for her sons. |
It’s 3pm on a crisp August afternoon in Johannesburg. Tsitsi Masiyiwa is seated on a comfy couch in a makeshift living room at her elegant office in the leafy suburbs of Dainfern, north of the city. I meet her when she is in a deep conversation with a South African journalist and one of her office employees. I sit down to join the conversation and Masiyiwa recounts a fascinating story. The year was 1996 and Masiyiwa and her husband, Strive Masiyiwa, were almost penniless. The couple was going through a rough patch, and they were struggling to feed themselves and their children. “We were so broke. We couldn’t even afford to give our visitors tea,” Tsitsi Masiyiwa says in retrospect. “We were practically living from hand to mouth.” But things hadn’t always been this way. Just a couple of years before, Strive Masiyiwa owned a thriving business. He had founded Retrofit Engineering, an electrical contracting firm that handled lucrative construction contracts for the government and had built a considerable fortune. But his fortunes reversed in 1993 when he decided to establish Zimbabwe’s first independent mobile telecoms network to rival the government-owned telecommunications company. At the time, the Zimbabwean Post & Telecommunications Corporation (PTC) was the sole provider of telecommunication services in Zimbabwe. When Masiyiwa expressed his interest in acquiring a mobile operating license and launching a substitute mobile telecoms network, the government threatened to prosecute him if he dared to pursue his plans. The Zimbabwean authorities denied him a license. Refusing to bow to intimidation, he took the government to court, challenging the government’s monopoly on telecommunications and seeking the rights to operate a mobile phone company in Zimbabwe. It was a landmark case that lingered for close to five years, eventually finding its way to the Supreme Court. “Our problems began when we sued the government,” Masiyiwa recollects. “You cannot sue the government and think things will always be right.” During that period, the government, which was Retrofit’s biggest client, immediately called off its existing contracts with the firm. It had disastrous consequences for Strive Masiyiwa. Within months, he could hardly afford to pay salaries and he finally had to sell off the company’s assets to finance Econet’s legal battles against the government. Before long, the Masiyiwas’ funds had dried up, and they were on their wits end. “So we were broke. In trying to understand what was going on around me, I began to do an intensive soul searching. Then I prayed to God and made a deal with him. I told God that if he granted us the license to operate the mobile phone company in Zimbabwe- and he made us successful, then I will help support as many poor people as possible for as long as I lived,” Tsitsi Masiyiwa recalls. Tsitsi Masiyiwa, a deeply religious woman, took a step of faith along with her husband. “We went ahead and registered Capernaum Trust, a charity that we decided would give scholarships to needy children. It was an unpractical thing to do at the time, especially considering the fact that we had nothing. But as a Christian, you do unreasonable things,” she enthuses. This is a must read for all, especially working class women who have not found a way to strike a balance between family and work. Omotola does it with efforts, but successfully Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, aka ‘Omosexy’, is the queen of Nollywood. She’s appeared in more than 300 films, pulls in 150 million viewers for her reality-television show and has been named one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Her most recent film is Last Flight to Abuja an when she sat next to Steven Spielberg at a Time magazine dinner earlier this year he didn’t know her name. Yet Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was attending that dinner because, like him, she had been honoured in Time’s 2013 list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. Alongside Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama and Beyoncé. The star of more than 300 films, Omotola – or “Omosexy”, as she is known to her legions of fans – is bigger across the African diaspora than Halle Berry. Her reality-television show, Omotola: The Real Me, pulls in more viewers than Oprah’s and Tyra’s at their peak, combined, and she is the first African celebrity ever to amass more than one million Facebook “likes”.Omotola is one of the biggest stars in Nollywood, the low-budget, high-output Nigerian film industry that churns out more English-language films than Hollywood or Bollywood (1,000-2,000 a year). Some have cinematic releases, but most are for the straight-to-video market. She reveals that “Omosexy” is a nickname given to her by her husband, an airline pilot.“He bought me a car back in 2009, and that was the plate number,” she recalls, speaking with kinetic, girlish excitement, rattling off sentences in fast, extended flurries. “All my cars have special plate numbers, like Omotola 1.” When I ask how many cars she has, she laughs again, with embarrassment. “A few.” When she first saw her personalised license plate she was horrified. “I thought, ‘Oh no!’ It sounded cocky. As if I was telling everybody, ‘I’m sexy!’ Y’know-wha-I-mean?” She punctuates her sentences with this phrase, which she reels off as a single word. ponco: There is clearly a lot missing in those statements, i am presently trying to write a book on homosexuality to reveal the truth.Attempt to read all and not just the beginning of the article. The writers suggested the father's love as one way of preventing homosexuality amongst many others including over pampering by mothers and hanging out with females all the time. The focus of the article is not to cure existing gays but to prevent new ones(children) so existing gays who sees this as a reason to point fingers are missing the point. Vaccination is preventive not cure. |
"A former homosexual who has carried on an effective ministry for five years among homosexuals reported, 'I have counseled over three hundred homosexuals and have yet to find one that enjoyed a warm love relationship with his father.'" Introduction: 1. How can I prevent my children from becoming homosexual? a. There is a "vaccination" for homosexuality! b. But first, you must realize that no one is born homosexual and being homosexual is a moral choice. c. "How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? The answer: Only one, but the light bulb has to really want to change. Many pastors, like Carl, find this to be true with homosexuals. The number one criterion for the success in crisis intervention is the desire of the homosexual person to change. Without that, all the good intentions and techniques by the counselor will have little effect. That desire to rebuild from ground up evidently was missing in Ted." (J. D. Berkley, Called into crisis, 1989, Vol. 18, p 103) 2. Less than 1% are homosexual! a. A new Statistics Canada health survey is the first to effort to measure the sexual orientation of the population. b. According to figures from the Canadian Community Health Survey, released Tuesday June 15, 2004, one per cent of Canadians say they are homosexual. c. The Canadian Community Health Survey, is based on information collected from 135,000 people and is considered to be extremely accurate. d. Homosexual activists continue to use the 10% figure, even though they know is as invalid as it is a deliberate fraudulent. 3. Vaccination for homosexuality? YES! Hi HTPB readers, Below is an open letter from me to Ese Walter and her response to critics of her article about the affair she had with a Pastor Biodun of COZA. She may be unreachable to us but our words here may just find their way to her. Do send her your sincere encouragement through this medium. She needs the show of love and support to help her through this unstable times( since she has no congregation to clap and shout at nothing said). Have a great week all. Dear Ese, Going through the article written by you and the series of events and responses that has followed, I am led to believe things have not panned out the way you thought it would. I am of the opinion that at this point, you may have fallen more into rejection and bitterness not just towards the Pastor (who has refused to give any direct response until he his done consulting and has a "robust" reply) but also towards Nigerians whom you thought would understand. The reason for my opinion is anchored on your decision to delete your social network accounts that you must have used for some years now because of pressures from same people you thought would understand(you are probably planning to go into hibernation). You may have made some wrong decisions in how you chose to handle the situation but it does not change the fact that the Pastor was wrong if he slept with you. He should have known better. Even if you seduced him, he should have been stronger and corrected you in love. Wherever you are, please turn to the bible for encouragement. At this point, what you need is God's healing and strength to move on. The Bible makes us understand that God's strength is made perfect in your "weakness". So weakness is not a curse, it is an avenue for God's power to come through in our life. You will come out of this stronger. You will come out better. Take from the good, drop the bad and move on girl. Do not expect so much from man. do not anchor your happiness on what man does or does not do. As you must have learnt in the last few days, man can be the most unpredictable specie. Even God marvels at us. You come across as a beautiful, intelligent young woman. Love God and Live your dream. Yours Sincerely Olufunke HTPB. NB: Find Ese's response to her critics below. If you are reading this and you have a word to support Ese, drop it here as we believe it will get to her. First off, good morning fellow Nigerians, Christians and who ever else is dissing or supporting on this blog. I want to state first and foremost that I never used the term “sexual abuse” in my post. I have never been sexually abused my entire life. However, I have been on about researching abuse generally because I started to realize the reason I had been how I was was because I didn’t have confidence in myself as a human being and I struggled with self esteem for as long as I can remember. Abuse is not only sexual and what I refer to here is not sexual abuse but psychological (mental and emotional), manipulation and control. These are forms of abuse and this is what I was referring to. When I joined COZA, I didn’t know my left from my right. I was finding my way and naturally I was drawn to the word and the fact that I thought this was the one church that would help me grow. As for my then pastor Biodun, I really did see him as a god. Read more here. http://helpingtheparents..com/2013/08/letter-to-save-ese-walter-and-her.html |
