Congratulations Bro. I'm so happy for you.
Please, did you mention your grandmother's step brother in your DS-160? Just want to know, thanks.

Thank you! Yes, while filling the DS-160 I filled yes to the 'Do you have "other" relatives in the US' after filling no to the 'Do you have relatives, including parents, in the US"
It's kinda confusing the way I tried to explain it but I hope you understand.

Hi guys!
So I had my interview on Monday at Abuja, time slot was 9:15 but after all the processes and screening I had to go through, I was interviewed around 10:30.
VO was a handsome young man in his early 30s, slim, tall, blond hair, blue eyes.
Me:Good morning
VO:Good morning. So we are going to begin with you placing your fingers on the fingerprint scanner.
(Scanned my fingers and the real deal started)
VO: Pass me your documents
Me:Passes them
VO:Have you ever travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me:No I haven't
VO: When did you finish your SSCE?
Me:The November of 2020
VO:What have you been doing since then?
Me: I started learning new languages because I believe communication is important.
VO: Okay, name one of them
Mesadsmiling underneath my mask) Korean
VO: (smiling) why?
Me: (laughing) Because I really like K-dramas
VOsadsmiles) okay, so why Marymount University?
Me:Okay, Marymount is a small school with big ideas, apart from their excellent biochemistry program, the school is a small school which for me I think is important so international students can become easily acclimated to the culture in the US and overall, I have been in contact with the school and they have been really nice and eager for me to attend.
VO:Okay,so do you have any family in Virginia or anywhere in the US?
Me: I do not have any family in Virginia but my great grandmother's stepbrother lives in California.
VO:Okay, so what do you plan to do when you return?
Me: Okay, I plan to take up a job as a clinical biochemist at UPTH since Nigeria is really in need of those.
VO: I see you have a Deans Award, who is going to pay yout deficit?(Traces my sponsor's name on my I-20). Is that your mom or dad?
Me: My dad.
VO:And what does he do?
Me:He is a business man who buys and sells cars. He also owns a poultry and cassava farm.
VO:Okay, everything looks right with your application(picks up the white paper). This contains details in how to pick up your passport and um, keep yout I-20 well, you'll need it at the point of entry.
You haven't been outside Nigeria in the past two weeks right?
Me:Yes. (Nodding like an agama lizard) Thank you!
Collected my docs and sprinted out.
I wished everybody I met after that a lovely day because of happiness.

TIPS
DRESS COMFORTABLY. I saw people who over dressed and still got denied. Even a guy who wore a complete 3 piece suit with a hat got denied.
CONFIDENCE IS KEY. This was probably the hardest part for me because I am very shy. You can be talking to me and I'll be replying the ground. Work on your eye contact and try to keep your voice and upper body stable since they can't see your legs.
BE HONEST
BE EARLY AND ENSURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS AND PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPH( in the correct dimensions). I even carried an affidavit, since me and my dad don't share the same surname.
PRAY PRAY PRAY. I prayed and kept on reciting 2 Timothy 1:7 till it was my turn.
The VO that interviewed me denied two people before me but mine was approved.
FILL YOUR DS-160 BY YOURSELF.
ASK YOURSELF IF YOU SOUND CONVINCING AND IF YOUR INFORMATION AND APPLICATION SEEMS RIGHT.
BELIEVE!
I just collected my passport here in Port Harcourt and I am so elated.
I wish everyone here success.

what account would I pay it to in GTco

You can pay online if you have an account with GTB or in person if you don't. I walked into the bank with my passport and my visa fee, told them what I wanted to do and it was done.

Boss I have been granted admission. Lead me on how to book an appointment after payment , I know I would pay at GTCO.

Congratulations boss!
There are necessary steps to take before you can book an appointment which I am sure you are aware of.
After paying the visa fee, go to ustraveldocs, sign up and fill in the necessary info(personal info, sevis ID, place interview will be held, visa category, etc). You will also be asked to fill in your receipt number(a 15/16 digit number on your receipt) and passport pick up location.
Choose a date and voila! You have scheduled an appointment.

Please Is emergency request and expedited request for US F1- student visa appointment same and how long will it take to get response from the embassy.

Thanks.

Yes, they mean the same thing. Response wait times differ, mine took a day but in some cases it can be as long as a week. If it's taking too long you can try emailing them.
I hope this helps!

Hello EVERYONE, PLEASE I DONT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING, DOES THE 60 DAYS RULE TO APPLY FOR AN EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT START FROM THE EARLY DATE OR CLASSES START DATE??

It starts from the program start date which should be a week or few days before classes start( please note that this is not the same as earliest admission date). This is so because colleges hold an international student orientation that every international student is mandated to attend because your information is going to be submitted to SEVP.

Some schools are test optional too and others require them. Just do your research properly and see what works best for you. Good luck!

Frankly sir, I have not seen anyone who gets an undergraduate admission without SAT or ACT. (I'm not saying it isn't possible, I haven't just seen nor heard anyone)

I can even remember one of the senior folks here on this thread hammered on it the day he was advising a guy who wanted to apply to Berea College. I remember he specifically said that NO SCHOOL will choose a good application with SAT over an equally good application without SAT. I think he is right.

I feel that SAT is just a way of giving our results credibility to equal the US 's own.

The result you posted up there is not bad at all. Please allow him sit for SAT if the finance is available.

PS: You can also check prospective schools' websites, they have their specific requirements just like they do for Grad studies.

Not trying to disagree, but I got accepted for an undergrad biochemistry program with a $26300 scholarship without taking standardized tests. You can get accepted without taking the SAT or even the ACT.
Taking one or both of these tests will improve your chances and give you a slight edge over other applicants who did not take them but it does not guarantee acceptance(please still take it if you can). Ensure your O'levels or A'levels are wonderful, submit your secondary school transcripts, get your teachers to write superb recommendation letters and write a killer personal statement. Include supplementary essays too if necessary and hope for the best.

Also, it would be a good idea if your brother uses the Common App to apply. He can apply to as much as 20 schools and even get the application fees waived if his counselor or principal can attest that he will not be able to afford all of them. It is a wonderful platform, just sign up, fill in your information and pick the schools you want to apply to. You will be required to fill in your O'levels or A'Levels, standardized tests scores(if any) and GPA. Your teachers will also need to send the recommendation letters on the website. Upload your personal statement(you will be given a prompt) and supplementary essays(if any is needed) and fill in your extracurriculars.
It is a long process sha but it's worth it. Search Google and YouTube for more info.

he confirmed it that it true what you said. Do you know how many days it takes to get an admission after submitting every document needed

Depending on the school, most colleges give certain application update dates between 1-3 months after applying. Also the results might be delayed if the school is dealing with lots of applicants.

Good day all, since its necessary I go with my husband as I'm pregnant , but we want to mail them to know if he can be given a temporary work permit in order not to be idle , coz he is going to resign from his work to go with me. My lectures are twice in a week and in the evening, then the assistantship (not daily also). Is it possible for them give him a work permit?

Is your husband going as a dependent, that is on an F-2 visa? If so, he cannot work while in the states.

But boss, a friend of mine currently in the state said, I could actually pick a date ahead before the admission. And It wouldn't involve me filing in any admission details .

Boss, I haven't heard of such procedure concerning an F-1 visa. Be careful so you don't jeopardize the whole process.

Good afternoon house, I have been following this thread for long, now it time for it to concern me , I have sent my transcript and every document needed for admission. But someone advices me to go and apply for my visa ahead so it would with up with time when the admission comes out. Please house how much is F1 Visa cost , who paid of recent for his or hers

@Fescoblack you cannot apply for an F-1 visa without admission because during the application you will need to fill in your sevis number which is something you cannot get without getting admitted into a school in the US. So just pray that you get accepted, get your I-20, pay your sevis fee, fill the ds-160 and apply for a visa. I wish you good luck.
The visa fee is #67,200.
