States are Federation Units, the FCT is not.

The essence of the 25% in two thirds of the whole of Nigeria is to ensure 'spread' or broad based support across most parts of Nigeria so that a particular ethnic group or Geo-political zone with high population will not be lording itself over the rest of Nigeria, so you need support of people in two thirds of the country.


Now, the FCT is populated by people who are Gov't workers or have certain things to do with Gov't or Representatives of Foreign Countries , domiciled in the FCT. There is nothing special about the votes of the FCT that make it superior to votes of other Nigerians in the determination of who should be the President.

Here is the appropriate naming and restructuring..

South West = Western Nigeria Region
North West and North East = Northern Nigeria
North Central = Central Nigeria
South East = Eastern Nigeria Region
South South = Southern Nigeria region

Or
North West = North Western Nigeria region
and
North East = Northern Eastern Nigeria

A structure like these would strengthen and promote Nigeria unity in diversity...

* All candidates will concentrate on the FCT: with all kinds of intimidation, rigging and this will lead to violence.


There is no country where such compulsory 25% in FCT is required to win presidential election
