•As victim petitioned Inspector General of Police over attempted murder

A leaked voice message in which famous Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, was heard threatening to kill those accusing him of land grabbing, is about to compound his woes.

Igboho, who is currently stuck in Cotonou, Benin Republic, where he was detained and released conditionally after months of trials in a "criminal association" case, is banned from leaving the francophone nation until the completion of the case.

In the leaked audio, Igboho could be heard, all the way from Cotonou, threatening to eliminate one Alhaji Waheed Olatunji and other persons who accused him of land grabbing in Soka area of Ibadan.

It was gathered that Igboho sent the voice note to one Mr. Afeez Olatunji, a relative of Alhaji Olatunji, advising him to warn Olatunji to desist from laying claim to the disputed parcel of land or be ready for the worst to happen.

Alhaji Olatunji has, however, petitioned the Inspector-General of Police in a letter in which Sunday Igboho was accused of death threat and land grabbing.

According to Olatunji's lawyer, the land in dispute belongs to Anlamole family and his client who is also member of the family has gotten victory in SUIT NO. I/780/97 at the Oyo State High Court and was affirmed by the dismissal of the appeal against it by the Supreme Court in suit no. SC.609/206.

After the Supreme Court victory, Olatunji's lawyer revealed that the Anlamole family applied for execution/enforcement of the judgment on the land (subject matter) of the suit which had been encroached and trespassed upon by different parties including Mr. Sunday Adeyemo Adisa and Mr.Yinka Adeyemi, through the Enforcement Unit of the Oyo State Court.

The petition by Olatunji's lawyer reads: "Mr Adeyemo threaten our client: Alhaji Waheed Olatunji, one Alhaji Ibrahim and Mr. Afeez Olatunji with death if they do not desist from disturbing ‘his people’ on the land already handed over by the Enforcement Unit of the Oyo State High Court.

"Our client was impelled to brief his solicitors to initiate the first petition when the said Mr. Sunday Adeyemo through telephone threatened to assassinate our client and through to the threat several unknown elements paid several visits to our client’s office and a shot was even fired at our client vehicle from an unknown source.

"It was also discovered that the said Mr Sunday Adeyemo and one Mr Yinka Adeyemi of MINRAG PETROL, actually broke into and started operating a filing station (on the possessed land) sealed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission (ICPC) on the orders of the Federal High Court sitting at Abuja.

"Despite our above petitions, the said Mr Sunday Adeyemo and other elements have continued threatening our client, Alhaji Ibrahim and Afeez Olatunji’s lives and have now resorted to using police officers from different formations to attempt to kidnap and (more recently ) attempt to eliminate our client and the individuals mentioned above.

"Sir, the latest was the cavalier arrest of our client by officers of the Xsquad of Oyo State Police command on the 19th of July, 2023 and despite his health challenges which were documented by a medical certificate, our client was whisked to the Xsquad where he was shown copies of petitions (but not given even when his solicitors demanded same) levelled by individuals over the execution of the Supreme court judgment.

"Infact one of the petitions was against another individual, not our client’s name, but despite our client’s denial that the name was not his and he never had any transaction against the petitioner, he was still detained and compelled to react to the said petition.Sir, while trying to facilitate the release of our client who very ill and being denied his medication, Mr Afeez Olatunji was abducted/kidnapped by some armed men who wanted to use the cover of night to smuggle him out of Ibadan and took him to a hotel at Elebu, where the said Afeez Olatunji was able to raise alarm and the hotel management rose to his assistance.

"When the said armed men were challenged, they claimed to be police men but the hotel management (to protect their name) insisted on following the men and their captive to any police formation to ascertain the men’s claim and identity with the hotel staff, the men eventually dropped off their captive Mr. Afeez Olatunji at AKS, Dugbe, Ibadan on a trumped charge off robbery and went away.

"Our client and the said Mr. Afeez Olatunji later learnt from inquiries that the said armed men were police men from Ikoyi (former government house) and were led by one, ‘Yemi tracker’(08166410276/09042660136) and also, Tony and IkuRaymond from X squared, Ikeja Police headquarters. Sir the said Afeez Olatunji stated that he heard one of the men talking to someone on the phone that he/she should inform Adeyemo ‘’that they had gotten one of them’’

"Sir to this end we passionately seek your intervention to intervene and take over this matter and save our client and Alhaji Waheed and Afeez Olatunji’ lives from untimely death. The elements have decided not to use the legal system but men from Ikoyi and Xsquad and other formations yet unknown, to harass, abduct, threaten our client. While thanking you for your anticipated response sir, please find attached all relevant documents sir", the petition reads.

Olatunji had earlier written a petition dated October 4, 2022 against Sunday Igboho over same allegations. In the petition, Olatunji’s solicitor accused Igboho of threat to life, illegal possession of firearms, forgery, malicious damage, conduct likely to cause breach of peace and violent land grabbing. He appealed to the Police boss to investigate the case and take necessary actions. The petitioner recalled how Igboho appeared with armed thugs and a rented crowd to disrupt and prevent the Bailiffs of the Oyo State High Court of Justice and the Police officers from carrying out their lawful duty of executing the judgment delivered by Justice A.A Aderemi in SUIT NO. I/780/97 and APPEAL NO. CA/IB/252/2009.

A man who is identified as Festus Olanrewaju Ojo has given an insight on how mother of late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad left him for his dad who is a gospel singer.


According to Festus, he went to the same secondary school with Mohbad's father in 1983. Festus narrated how Mohbad's father stop attending school in form 2 due to an increase in school fees, Mohbad's father is 55 years old but looks older due to poverty.

Festus who sent this message to a friend via WhatsApp, said Mohbad's father was a gospel musician, and Mohbad was one of his backup singers for many years.

Historical evidences of Ile-Ife as cradle of Yoruba race (PHOTOS/VIDEO)

Ile-Ife, the ancient town in Osun State, Nigeria, continues to be recognized as the cradle of the Yoruba race for various reasons. Its historical and cultural significance not only resonates with the Yoruba people but also with individuals across different countries and continents.

Yoruba traditions and beliefs dictate that Ile-Ife was founded by Oduduwa, the ancestor of the Yoruba people, who also became their first divine king. This lineage and the establishment of Ile-Ife as the original settlement of the Yoruba people serve as the foundation for their rich cultural heritage. The name "Ile-Ife" itself, meaning the place of dispersal, signifies the importance of the town in the dispersion and spread of the Yoruba people across different regions.

During the tour of Ile-Ife, the tourism journalists were able to witness numerous monuments that beautifully depict and celebrate the uniqueness of Yoruba ancient cultural phenomena.

One such monument is the Origi Olofin shrine, which holds great significance during the Ifa festival. With 401 Ifa deities worshipped, including 201 belonging to the reigning Ooni of Ife, the festival showcases the vibrant spirituality of the Yoruba people.

The historical and cultural significance of Ile-Ife is also evident in the legal and governance systems. The existence of different courts in the palace, such as the Emese court, High Chief courts, Ooni palace, and Ile Ase court, highlights the meticulous organization and administration of justice. The House of Authority court, considered the highest court, possesses a unique power where the words spoken by criminal suspects or warring parties are believed to come to pass. This court becomes a sacred ground for politicians and leaders who seek supplication and divine intervention, making their requests become reality.

Also, the Ooni's palace holds immense historical value. The Ile Nla, an ancient door constructed in the 18th century with intricate sculptural architectural design, symbolizes the royal power and authority. Despite renovations by subsequent obas, the preservation of the old royal symbols showcases the respect for tradition and heritage. The presence of burial tombs of past Oonis within the palace grounds further reinforces the historical and spiritual importance of Ile-Ife.

The Aare crown, worn once a year during the Olojo festival which is celebrated every last Saturday of September, is a symbol of royalty and tradition. With a weight of 50kg, it signifies the grandeur and reverence bestowed upon the Ooni during this annual celebration. The story of Obalufon, an ancient Ooni who ruled for over 450 years, depicts the longevity and mythical nature associated with the throne. Subsequent Oonis visit his shrine to pray for similar long and prosperous reigns.

Beyond the palace, the tourism journalists also visited other significant shrines, such as the Moremi statue or shrine and the Oranmiyan shrine. These sites commemorate the bravery and heroism displayed by historical figures in defense of the Ife people, ensuring their preservation and immortalization.

During the tour, sponsored by The Director of Operations Marketing & Sales of Ife Grand Resort and Leisure, Mr. Reuben Abib, the monuments depict the originality of Yoruba ancient cultural phenomena.

Our reporter gathered that Ooni has many horses but prefers other means of transportation, or he walks. This is the reason Oonis of Ife are called 'Aleshin Magun Ooni' (meaning Ooni with many horses but doesn't ride them). Another interesting fact is that an umbrella can only be used for Ooni, and the elephant symbol at the entrance of Ile Nla palace symbolizes the total control of the monarch, while the sword at the entrance means victory during supplications.

Another historical fact is that only four Oonis of Ife were recordedly buried, and their burial tombs can be found in the palace. Other obas in the past turned into deities or other objects. The four recorded Oonis who were buried were the 47th, 48th, 49th, and 50th Ooni of Ife. The reigning Ooni of Ife is Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who ascended the throne in 2015.

Ile-Ife stands as the cradle of the Yoruba race, with its rich history, cultural significance, and spiritual allure. The monuments, courts, palaces, and shrines in this ancient town embody the essence of the Yoruba people, their traditions, and their deep connection to their ancestral roots. Ile-Ife continues to captivate and unify individuals from various cultural backgrounds, solidifying its position as a center of human development and cultural diversity.

Missing FUOYE student found dead, school condoles parents


It was gathered that the nursing student went missing after she went to class for a night reading on Monday, September 4.

Her roommates were said to had declared her missing when she didn’t return from the night reading. Her colleagues later launched a search for her, during which her books and other materials she took to the class were discovered in a large pond.


Fast forward to Wednesday, September 6, she was reportedly found buried in a shallow grave behind her faculty with her eyes plucked out.

She also reportedly sustained severe injuries on her head and there are indications that she was raped.

A startling viral video of Delhi Zoo, has captured the heart-stopping moment when a man daringly entered a lion’s enclosure and sat face-to-face with the wild animal. The chilling video has drawn widespread attention online, showcasing the man’s risky encounter with the lion.


In the video, the individual, identified as Rehan Khan (28) from Bihar, can be seen dressed in black as he crosses into the lion enclosure at Delhi Zoo. Despite attempts by on looking visitors to deter him from approaching the lion, Khan proceeds to walk around the enclosure.

For a tense moment, both Khan and the lion engage in a gaze, staring at each other mere feet apart. In a bewildering act, Khan even sits down on a tree trunk before the lion, making hand gestures. The lion approaches cautiously and continues to observe Khan closely. After a short while, the lion climbs up onto Khan, prompting him to rise from his seated position.

The timely intervention of the vigilant Delhi Zoo staff played a crucial role in ensuring Khan’s safety. The team managed to tranquilize the lion swiftly and rescue Khan from the potentially life-threatening situation. Despite the hair-raising nature of the incident, Khan emerged unharmed.

A Nigerian named Tobi Alaga has been killed in Toronto, Canada.

Alaga was murdered in the early hours of Monday around College Street and Spadina Avenue in a shooting that ensued from altercation.

Local report said, two or three persons were in dispute, and along the line one of them pulled out a gun and shot another person three times in his chest.

It resulted in the death of the 41-year-old Nigerian after fruitless efforts to keep him alive at the hospital he was rushed to.

OrijoReporter further gathered that the deceased grew up at Anthony in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, and attended Aladura High School in the same area.

VP, Senators honour Senator Alli at daughter's wedding in Ibadan


Vice President Kashim Shettima, some south-west senators and other prominent Nigerians were among dignitaries who honoured Sen. Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has he gave his daughter's hand in marriage last weekend.

The dignitaries had stormed the University of Ibadan Islamic Centre for the Nikkah ceremony between Suliat Alli and AbdulQudus Okeowo.

Among the lawmakers present were Sen. Gbenga Daniel (APC-Ogun East); Sen. Jide Ipinsagba (APC- Ondo North) and Sen. Idiat Adebule (APC- Lagos West).

Others include Sen. Cyril Fasuyi (APC- Ekiti North); Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari (APC-Oyo North) and Sen. Yunus Akintunde (APC-Oyo Central).

The ceremony was also attended by former Chairman of National Lottery Commission, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle; former Commissioner of Environment in Oyo State, Chief Lowo Obisesan and the President of Omo Ajorosun Club, Alhaji Abiola Alli.

Also present at the colourful ceremony were several APC chieftains in the state and hosts of other dignitaries from across the country.

Prof. Abdulrahman Oloyede, the Chief Imam, UI Central Mosque, joined and prayed prayed for the newly-wedded couple.

Oloyede counseled the couple on how to live peacefully and happily in a Muslim home according to Islamic teachings.

"The Prophet Muhammad said that any woman who stayed peacefully in her husband's house has achieved 50 percent rewards in worship.

"I implore you to uphold godliness, discipline and perseverance in all you do. May the Almighty Allah grant the union good fruits," he said.

He congratulated the couple for fulfilling the three key conditions of love, consent of parents and exchange of gifts, wishing them a blissful marital life.

Speaking at the ceremony, Alli expressed joy on the occasion, thanking God for sparing their lives to witness the day.

He admonished the couple to live peacefully, praying that Almighty Allah grant the couple good fruits of the womb.

Alli, who is also the Maye Balogun of Ibadanland, thanked the vice president, senators and other dignitaries present for the honour.
