Mr VP and minister of foreign affairs

Babatunde Fowler, the newly appointed acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has assumed the mantle of leadership of the service.

Fowler, who took over from the acting Executive Chairman of the service, Mr. Sunday Ogungbesan, pledged to work with state revenue agencies and relevant stakeholders to shore-up tax revenue and improve on the country’s tax administration.

Addressing staff in Abuja Fowler said the FIRS should be able to take the lead in tax revenue collection as well as share information and ideas with the States Board of Internal Revenue (SBIR) to improve tax administration in the country.
He said: “My vision and mission is neither to alter the existing management organogram structure in FIRS nor lay-off management staff from their duty posts, but to take FIRS as well as the nation’s tax system to an enviable height.

“This we cannot achieve all alone without a robust partnership and collaboration of all stakeholders within and outside the system. We must build a synergy for a healthy exchange of information between FIRS and SBIR.

He said: “This synergy will produce the best form of revenue generation in the FIRS and the states in general as well as ensuring that over dependency on oil revenue becomes a thing of the past.”

The new acting FIRS boss, in a statement by the Assistant Director, Communications and Servicom Department, FIRS, Nneka Ifekwuna, further argued that the antidote to the current economic challenging was for the service to raise revenue accruing from tax collection to “records high” so that government programmes could be well funded.

However, Ogungbesan urged the staff to cooperate with Fowler in his new capacity.

He said:” The chairman needs the support of all staff to succeed in the business of raising revenue and we must not lose sight of satisfy the government.’’

Alamu is the VC but we heard he has travelled out and PROF Akintayo who is the chairman of the provost board and the provost of okuku campus has been made the acting VC untill Prof Alamu returns. Prof Akintayo is the former Dean and Provost of Okuku.

they are more credible people out there, what he did was not new, previous administrators never stole the monies as you claim, lagos has gotten more investments from 2007, than 1999, all he did was ensure, the investors comply and also made citizens pay unless taxes, a gala and lacasera seller is paying from the small income he's making

So who do you think pay taxes just mansion owners ? That is why you have be yaning trash coz you don't know the intake of taxation for your information if you can get 10000 gala n coke seller to pay up their (stipends)taxes it would form a tangible figure to the government that might just amount to the taxes that of one or two mansion owners pay , that is how a planned economy operates but again you are wailer you know nothing about planned economies

All aspirant should calm down, Uniosun hasn't released their cut-off mark yet, everyone still has a chance but those above 50 in Accounting, Economics, Bus Admin, Banking n Finance, Law, Nursing, Engineering e.t.c has better chance than those that have lower than 50. Since Prof Akintayo is the acting VC and we in Okuku know him to be a very considerate man, they might lower this year cut-off mark. If you get over 50 in pume and you are an indigene of Osun, you better start preparing to pay your acceptance fees and getting ready to resume soon.

School might resume by November 2, that's the feelers we are getting for now but start getting everything in place. God speed to everyone.

I was hoping to read a rational comment here, but it seems liike Nairalanders are falling for the exact aim of that publication. Fowler is Fashola's guy, probably dropped by Ambode recently in the 'war against Fashola'. Little wonder why sahara reporters published that fake honorary degree article to rubbish him. Tinubu may be doing this to make sure the senate rejects him thinking they are paying Tinubu back while helping him achieve his goal.

What this writer doesn't know is that fowler and saraki are friends, were close friends In fact fowler organized saraki' bachelors party, and don't forget the YAYI factor , a good friend of fowler , I don't think he would get rejected even with his link to asiwaju, what most don't understand is fowler is the cousin to V.P osinbaji and as a matter of fact asiwaju was not a pointer to his appointment .

Personally this is more of a case of saraki vs Buhari than saraki vs Asiwaju
