I honestly cannot understand how people who don't have children even consider marrying single fathers and mothers.

The UK guy is just stingy.
I bought a mini bus for my uncle due to my mum's pressure to help him.

Till tomorrow, my parents still don't see anything wrong with how they treated me and my siblings. Instead, they insist they were right simply because we are their children hence, they can never be wrong and now playing the victim card because we have all ignored them.

Let them bask in the euphoria of their rights . I don't need anything from them.When I needed the warmth, protection,affection and reassurance that comes with having parents, they were cold,distant, contemptuous and wicked. I used to envy my friends who could gist with their parents, take pictures with them, celebrate their birthdays and share their little wins with them.
Imagine not having my parents at my matriculation into the university, my induction into the medical profession or my convocation, while my mates had their parents around them, putting up small canopies and celebrating their children.My younger brother managed to attend my induction because he was close by then.
During Christmas and New Year holidays, while other students would leave the lodge and travel home to their parents, I would remain in school because I dreaded going home.
I remember as a 12 year old ,attending an event in church where it was time to take pictures. My siblings and I thought it would be an opportunity to finally take a picture with Dad.
This man literally kicked my youngest brother and shouted at all of us.We ran away..In the church!!

I don't wish any child the kind of traumatic childhood I had.

I can count how many times extended families tried to reconcile us.
After the reconcilation, I would return to my base and our relationship continued the same estranged way.
I can manage to speak with my mum or chat with her once in a while but my dad? I honestly do not know what to say to him.
When I was a child, living under his roof, this man no wan use eyes see me.

I could stay for days without seeing my father in the same house.
Whenever he returns from work, my siblings and I would run inside to hide. He used to be happy and brag about how he was a no-nonsense father .
Today, he is looking for relationship but we all avoid him. Some of my siblings do not even know where he lives.
Anybody can judge us now but it doesn't matter.
We really thank God for growth.

No, I did not and I still do not have a good relationship with them.

My father was tough , abusive and extremely malicious.. made it clear he wasn't my friend or mate. The only time I could stay even 1 minute close to him was either he was beating me or verbally abusing me.

My mother was excessively judgemental and annoyingly over religious. She also believed I was a child and never had a say.

I left home as a teenager to university and stayed away for 3 years.. didn't visit and they didn't bother.
They didn't attend my matriculation, induction and convocation.
I learnt how to celebrate my wins alone.
First picture I took with my parents was during my wedding.
My siblings and I never had one family picture with them.

Today, I just send money when I want to. We still don't relate.
I don't know how to talk to/gist with them especially my father. My children do not know them.

I haven't spoken to my mum in 3 months and my dad in 11 months. I try not to pick his calls because we have nothing to discuss.
It's too late to begin building a relationship.
