Properties / Re: Architecture, Energy Conservation And Alternative Energy. by spiderman(m): 5:09pm On Sep 19, 2011
Colleagues,
let me give you an example of the lack of awareness in designing energy efficient buildings in Nigeria.
A couple of years ago i was part of the design team for the design of the new headquarters tower for Energy Commission of Nigeria, to be located in Abuja.
We tried to develop a concept that would reflect the global move towards use of natural sources of energy. The design included large openings
at the roof level and services floor covered in solar panels which would generate enough energy to power the whole building. The idea was that the energy commission of Nigeria HQ was not going to be powered by PHCN.
Unfortunately the solar panels scheme was shelved for being too grandiose, unattainable and expensive to maintain as compared to PHCN + fossil fuel power generating; this was in 2001.
The tower is still not built and i understand there are moves within the commission to review the design, i pray the new design team whoever they may be
come up with a design that reflects the present global drift towards green buildings.

Most of u castigating this woman are very silly and jobless. She is d first lady by luck and her name will be forever in d record and history of Nigeria.
Those of u who can speak and write good English, where r we going to see your records, whot have u achieved? Most of u will b begging to kiss ds woman backside if u hv d opportunity. Please grow up.
There  is a difference btw good communication skill and being fluent in a particular language. Ability to communication and respondents can understand your message is the best of communication.
She mayn't be able to speak English fluently which may be as a result of speaking pigin english while she was growing up and group up in the south south as well, the only official language wuld be pigin english
If u hv been to the SS, u will knw that these pple no send your official language. I dont mean to abuse  or insult dir level of education, but their education system is not as sound as the one of the SW.
She has developed her tongue and language already, so please leave  her alone and mind your business.
Guys think of how to meet a woman that will be supportive and ladies think of how u will be great and pull better crowd than wot she is pulling now.
Like some one said, if Goodluck shld win the election, prepare to hear more of her bullets or better still flee from the country cos ds woman unlike the previous first ladies whose voices were not heard during dir husbys campaign but only come out whn dey wanted to launch one foundation or the other, wuld say more than more words if she can be doing dat while campaigning for her husby now. grin grin grin grin

Though never been in a cell been to the station several times.
The worst was when i ran into an Okada man right in front of a police station.
i hit the poor man so hard he fell right into the premises of the police station.
come see katakata everyone in the station came out,
as i was being dragged into the station,
i could see pity in the eyes of passersby
the pity was for me, not the Okada man.
At the end its all about the dough and how much of it u can part with.
I paid

OKADA MAN for loss of income. It was estimated he would be out of work
for about a week cause of injuries, of course paid for treatment too.

settled

DPO, (for the audacity of hitting an okada man into the station)
"FRONT DESK TEAM" (front counter guys),
"RESCUE TEAM"(carried okada man into station),
"INVESTIGATORS"(investigated accident),
"OBSERVERS" (some police men & women inside the station)
"GATEMAN" (also a policeman; claims he quickly opened the gate to make sure Okada man
while falling did not damage the gate)

my broda e no funny.
Politics / Atiku, Associates Set To Return To Pdp by spiderman(m): 10:46am On Apr 08, 2010
"Anytime from now, a former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar, will formally declare for the Peoples Democratic Party.

This is because his political associates at a meeting with him in Abuja on Wednesday endorsed his return to the party he left in 2007.

The associates, which included Alhaji Lawal Kaita; Senator Ben Obi; Chief Dapo Sarumi; Otunba Oyewole Fasawe; Chief Dubem Onyia; and Chief Titi Ajanaku; decided to set up a committee that would facilitate the return of the former vice-president and his associates to the party at the centre and the states."
The PUNCH Newspaper, Today 8th March, 2010.

Hmm,
i wonder why the move to return to the party he left, apparently without any regrets, to challenge at the polls.
what has changed to necessitate this return.
His main foe and former boss Obasanjo is still head of the PDP Board of Trustees.
All the other usual suspects are either still leading the party or calling the shots from behind the curtains.
The way i see it, like most of the other politicians in this country this erstwhile VP is a man without conviction.
I believe he lacks the prerequisite level of moral assertion to lead anyone; and these so called Associates,
how exactly do they figure in this equation, methinks they are hangers-on who though would be totally irrelevant
without Atiku are portrayed as the decision makers for this ex VP. Interesting.

I weep for my dear country and its people,
what manner of gangsters have we decided to call our leaders.
I strongly believe change will come; albeit slowly, but surely
CHANGE WILL COME!!

Politics / Re: How Much Can You Sacrifice For Nigeria? by spiderman(m): 4:49pm On Mar 24, 2010
dear nairalanders

we need to keep record of posts on this thread, why?
every poster who self confesses their lack of interest in making any kind of sacrifice
for their country have no right to criticize those in government for not making
such sacrifices either.

If Yardua and his kitchen cabinet refused to make the required sacrifice for their country by
giving up power to help the nation move forward how do we know the ones with unpatriotic
comments here wouldn't  have done the same.

In fact those in government could be said to be better off for at least offering themselves for
public service.

One is tempted to think we followers are perhaps the most unpatriotic.
we defile our leaders, call them names and laugh at our country, but what have we as individuals
done to help our country; yet we say things like "not a thread of my hair","sacrifice ke, God forbid" and "small sha"

this poster is not in anyway any less guilty of these accusations, but lets face the fact, we are just
as bad as our leaders and there really are very few Nigerians who would out of their own free will make a sacrifice for their
country,

Very few indeed.

i hope happenings of the past few weeks
would serve as lectures in our study of democracy
dangerous as it may be
i feel we need to go through this trying times
if our democracy is to have anything like a sound foundation.
if anything happens now and we deal with it albeit nollywood-like style
next time we would deal with it in a much better manner,
that i guess is what maturing is all about.

-aondoaakar return

-our dear Dora be able to look mr. president in the eye?

-our governors go to say welcome

- mr. vice president/ mr. acting president become an errand boy to el presidente?

na wao!!!

so, we have,

- a president who cannot preside,

- an acting president who can no longer act on his own,

- a first lady who is determined to be second to no-one

- a fed exec council which seems to be headed for dissolution,

and a national assembly which doesn't appear to assemble for anything good for the people.

and i'm not just talking about the perpetrators of this crime.
i guess those who have found it convenient to post those

could be party to such misconduct and would not mind much if it
happened to them or theirs.

becomricch:

you cant marry the wrong person. marriage fail because of altitude, if a wife have a bad altitutde to life. you would have problem. Some people just have bad altitude or character. And instead of them correct that bad character. They blame others. It is not difficult to change a bad character, but some people dont want to change but prefer to blame others. And another thing is who is the one given you advise. If the person as a wicked heart. you would think they are telling you the truth but rather decieving you.

Abroad, they call police on themself. But this wife have never ask themself. that the police man you call is doing a job to keep is family, he does not care about you. He is just using you to make money and take care of his family, you are just a number to him. A tool, he can use
. If there are no people as silly as you. They would less policemen, social workers would get fired etc, So they neeed silly people like you, who have no brain to discover the thruth about life. That you put the best into your marriage and it comes first before anything. It comes best before a church or a pastor. It comes first before your brother or sister or mother or father.

You see when you destroy you home because of pastor adeboye church, do you think pastor adeboye would marry you as second wife. Or you think pastor adeboye would put your children name in his will. Or do you think the poolice would will his house to children, Or your brother or sister is ready to put your own children on the house they brought in New york or chicago. Hell no. You are the silly one, Instead of some people agreeing they are silly. They think they are wise. that why people have problem. You see before I give pastor adeboye my food. I would eat first. Because pastor adeboye does not transfer his iya in nigeria to me. Some people are silly and the silly one would be used by the wise one. but the silly one mostly believe they are wise and because of pride they cant humble themself and agree to be silly. They have ego. ego and pride kills.

did u mean altitude or attitude? u know it could make sence both ways, one could understand why altitude could be an issue in a marriage, imagine the wife being taller. Now thats a marriage where altitude could just be a problem.

it apperas nl is gradually becoming a forum for expressing hate and anger.
methinks we all have to be very careful here,
we might gradually be nurturing and breeding a hate network which could eventually serve a purpose
for our country other than what SEUN and his crew had in mind.
For some funny reason i always thot nl was all about meeting people and exchanging ideas; was i wrong?

Take a trip on any of the threads available and u come across all sorts of rantings and curses and abuses. u get the impression that Nigerians are generally a very angry people!

I agree we are free to express our opinions; i agree also that our opinions could be at variance sometimes,

but could we pls be civil while making our feelings known?
