I also got denied today at Abuja embassy. I think today was just a bad day there cos I am going to refire. So to those two other people that didn't get, just calm down, reconstruct your transcript and reapply. Today was just a bad day in both embassies cos no one got while I was there for almost three hours. Transcript VO: Pass your passport and I-20 Me: passsed VO: How did you choose this school Me: I wanted a school that would allow me have my clinical rotations at the center for disease control and prevention so I chose this school because it would enable me have that opportunity Cuts in VO: what are the other schools you applied to Mentioned them VO: Who is paying for this Me: My sister's husband VO:How old are you? Me: Mentioned Then she passed the paper and said sorry She was at window 6, tall white woman with pointed nose but she wasn't even giving people the room to talk and defend themselves. Even families that had a lot of travel history were denied. Finally my people, US Visa has never been easy. 20 years ago it was like this, 10 years ago it was very difficult and that is how it will be. You will be the one to be strong enough to always refire till you get it. Alot of people here got it after their first, second and even third attempts so don't let that weigh you down And as for me, I am going to Lagos to collect my visa |

Hey guys. A friend of mine that we are going together for our interview next week is worried about an issue. When her admission was given and she was asked to send bank statement for I-20. She had the required amount but now, the amount in the account is less than the amount on her I-20 but she said it's a busy account and the inflow of cash is consistent Can she be refused because of this? |

Ararume2: Good evening all. Was denied for the second time yesterday. Interview was short. Here's a transcript...
Me: Good morning ma'm
Vo looking very unfriendly) your passport and i20
you applied sometime in June. What do you think has changed about your application?
Me: I think I was unable to demonstrate that I had adequate sources of funding for my studies... my uncle heard of the visa denial and decided to step in to defray the cost of my studies..
Vo: Do you have his SOA...please pass it ..
Me: Yes please..passed it to her
Vo: Looked at it and typed for quite an uncomfortably long while. What does he do?
Me: He's a major distributor of Dangote cement in the south east and south south with outlets in all states of the south east...
Vo: How many children does he have?
Me: a boy
Vo: how old is he?
Me: 6yrs
Vo: kept typing for a very long time...
Me; My father still insists on playing traditional fatherly roles.. he'll be giving me $4k for my journey initially and will be sending monthly stipends for my living expenses. Can I also give you his SOA?
Vo: No...please concentrate on my questions
Me: alright ma'm
Vo: Typed and typed till she finally said ' I'm sorry you do not qualify for ....
The SOA shows a balance of 30m my tuition plus living expenses is abt 36k dollars...less than 13m
My start date is on 7/1/19
Where do I go from here? In my opinion, you were not supposed to take the VO to that aspect of sponsorship when you were asked what has changed. That is why he concentrated on your sponsorship. The VO probably taught since he has a 6 year old son and possibly a wife. He has enough responsibilities. I think you should have said now, you can confidently talk about your school and your course. Then the VO would have asked academic questions which you could have nailed. Sometimes, you can control the interview and take the VO to any of your strong points. Even if the VO would later ask about sponsorship, he would have already been convinced you know what you are doing if you had answered all those why this school, why this course well. |

I could not hold back but gave the best smile ever and said thanks ma’am Vo: yw enjoy your studies

Hello LagosNIV There has been a rumor flying around on the USA student visa thread that applying to a community College is a huge red flag and can lead to outright denial. I understand that for someone with an equivalent degree here(HND) or Bsc, it's not a progression if such person wants to go earn an associates degree again but what about young students that have just high school certificate? Can they get a visa approval to get associates degree if they defend their reasons? Or is it also an outright refusal? |

Is it safe to assume that those guys that were approved at abuja and later denied on the website had a problem with their statements? Probably not fake but they probably weren't satisfied with the flow of cash. This guy went to the same abuja, got approved and his status changed to issued. What was different? I am confused. Why should a statement be legit and at the end, the applicant still gets refused |

fairheart: For those of you that can afford it and not minding the extra expenses and for 100% positive visa outcome, go and become a registered member of EducationUSA in Lagos or Abuja. Registration fee is $200. Every member of this agency are US embassy priority. They are the first class student visa applicant at the embassy. At least, as much as I am informed, I am yet to see an EAC member denied. Your Senators', governors' and commissioners' kids go through this route. But to be eligible for membership, you must not have applied to any school at the point of registration; once the agency knows you have gotten admission yourself, they will not register you. There is also age limit: for undergraduate student, I think it is 20 (it was 21 as of 2009); for masters, it has to be under 28 or so. Visit the Lagos or Abuja branch to confirm.
You must be 100% genuine student. They will do background check on ya. You will do WES, write English test, even when they school don't need it.
In addition, I share in the grieve and pain of those who are recently denied. A very good friend I met on this forum was delayed this morning, and it is painful because we did everything a student could possibly do for a successful visa outcome. Yet she was denied, for Heaven's sake reason. Things are changing very fast now. Only the rich and those with extra-ordinary luck will get through. While the rate of denial goes up, we are watching and observing. With the recent article on Nigerian newspapers, we will definitely get the crowd down, and then chances of issuance will increase again. I know the embassy policy will change again, and more visa will be issued, perhaps towards late 2019--as crowd would have reduced significantly.
Don't give up on your dreams. God bless you all. This is bad news. If someone you prepared with together went for interview and still got denied then things are getting really serious. You are one of our gurus here and u must av gone through the proposed transcript and approved. I don't even know what to do, no encouraging news at all and every minute, interview date is drawing closer |

100kobo: Look at your Questions and Answers and try to make meaning out of it. Try to connect everything like it's an autobiography. You'll be amazed how you'll flow during the interview. It works, believe me.
Memorising details is a sure recipe for failure, especially if you're not gifted in it. I know some badass niggars many years ago during my university days who comfortably memorised proofs of mathematical theorems and reproduced same in the exam hall without any fuss.
If memory gem isn't your thing, please, abort the plan immediately immediately Lol thanks. Mission aborted o I actually practiced in front of the mirror and I compared both. When I recited the crammed answers I seemed fake and it was like someone with my remote was controlling me. I sounded so mechanical but when I just had my ideas and let things flow, I was relaxed and sounded more genuine. Advise to other applicants :please practice and see what works for you. It would also boost your confidence |
