Roland17: I see you are careful by using the word “fully” because you know he has failed to manage what he was given thus far. This is someone who refused to play an AM until every Senior clown was either injured or out because of COVID-19 protocol.
The same young players he refused to integrate fully into the team are the reasons why he will get another chance next season, especially Saka. Well, let’s wait until Thursday. Yes, absolutely. I think his job is dependent on the Thursday match as he has no excuse to lose to Villarreal. If he manages to win the Europa, then we agree he should get an extension while we expect the owners to trust him with adequate investment. |

Roland17: Absolutely.. I am a strong advocate for a change in ownership as it is the main issue. With that being said, does that mean Arteta can not be held accountable for some of the issues within his own unit? Just because ownership is the main issue does not mean Arteta should continue to be excuses for obvious errors. Arteta wasn't given adequate tools to negotiate both Europe and PL. His transfer targets were not fully met, an AM was lacking all through the first stanza. Look at what had to manage... That's why I wouldn't recommend his immediate sack for finishing 9/10th. Having worked with these set of players for one season (benefit of doubt), next season we have to compete for the top four with deliberate attempt. The likes of Saka, ESR, Martinelli, etc should give him enough base, while I expect the board to back him up with 2 or 3 quality players so that he can challenge the other top teams. |

Roland17: You see, it is thoughts and comments like these that encourage the despicable level of mediocrity we are enduring right now. We don’t have the luxury that Chelsea enjoys and Arteta knew that before he took the job. Can you bet one of your balls that Arteta would have matched one of Moyes/ B. Rodgers success at either club if roles were reversed? But I can bet you Rodgers/ Moyes would not have us placed 9th/10th if roles were reversed.
He better win on Thursday, no excuses. He can do the honorable thing and resign if this job is too big for him.
I detest mediocrity.. those who know me personally will tell you! I like I said before, he shouldn't lose on Thursday and should honorably resign if that happens. That said, you actually did absolve Arteta of primary blame for our recent failure when you mentioned the owners and board as those who must be held accountable. Just that you came back to state that they must sack Arteta just to prove that are serious. That for me is irresponsible. Below was what you posted. Roland17: It absolutely has to start with a change in ownership or an aggressive change in direction by the current owners which looks nearly impossible. We need owners who are totally vested in the club and are willing to invest in the club and not allow the club run based off its revenue like we are doing now. This will trickle down to the board members who understand the degree of urgency involved.
You want to know the truth? No serious owner will allow Arteta continue in a head coaching capacity if we finish 9/10 in the EPL, flunk the Europa Semi Final and finish without any trophy. The sense of urgency and the fact that ownership has invested a lot of money will trickle down to the kind of players we bring to the club. I ask again, who is to blame for our current situation? 1. The owner/board for not investing 2. The manager We have already said its got to be the owners. I know that there are limits to what failure can be endured and that's why I said if the manager gets there he should just resign or be sacked. An example is losing the Semi finals. |

Roland17: I will not trust Arteta with any heavy investment in the club. It is quite obvious for anyone to see he is deficient in many areas especially offensively. There are coaches who would make lemonade out of these clowns. There are mistakes Arteta is making that does not require the input of ownership especially since he has been handed the total reigns of this team with no intrusion.
Arteta is proving that “it is one thing to look and sound intelligent but not actually be intelligent to execute”. Him and the owners are very lucky fans are still out of the stadium else? He would have gotten the heat real hard. If you can't trust him then it becomes an excuse for him. Why employ him if you can't trust him. Chelsea invested heavily with Lampard before justifyingly sacking him. If we sack Arteta without such investment, that it is not justifiable. |

We have been celebrating mediocrity for a while now and our position in the log is a clear reflection of who we are now and if nothing changes immediately, it will be come the norm and this is because the teams above us are not relenting. This would be the second time Leicester City will be going to the UCL ahead of us.. Then you have the Hammers who will be motivated by this season’s performance. We have not even mentioned the regulars like City, Chelsea, United and Liverpool..
So you see, if nothing changes in the next year, we will become totally irrelevant in the scheme of things. Since our owners are not serious, it means Arteta will stay irrespective of this season's outcome. He has to because the owners failed in their part to invest adequately in the club. So why put all the blame on the poor young rookie |

Roland17: We desperately need to get back to being competitive. If we lose the Villarreal tie, finish 9/10 in the EPL our irrelevance in European football will even worsen. We are watching Arsenal decline and virtually become irrelevant before our eyes. There has to be a radical sense of desperation now. Where does the change begin from? The Board The manager The players ? |

Jodera: Lol... I see Chambers as just an average CB or perhaps DM. I never ever saw him as a Rb nor does he show any slight attribute of a Rb sef. What Arsene and Arteta saw or are seeing in Chambers that made them think he's a right back, that's what I'm still hoping to see... He is tactically flexible and thats what gives him the edge. I can't blame you for not seeing it. You are not a coach, are you? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 9:12pm On May 01, 2021 |
BlueRayDick: Arteta can be blamed for choosing the players he thought would perform but the players can't be blamed for not performing? Are u serious at all ?
Is it Arteta that will teach Chambers how to control the ball and not lose it or did he tell chambers not to make a run at the opponents defenders with we are on the offensive like a decent RB is meant to do ? Well , for years I’ve never rated Chambers for anything either at RB ,CB , DM or any other role some people claim he’s good at, so I’m not surprised he remains piss poor.
Abeg make better person buy the club make we ship those fraudulent players off our books Chambers have been quite effective playing the dual roles of RB and RCB, depending on the tweaks on-field. You do not understand the game that's why you are complaining. A player who has to be tactically flexible within the same match cannot be blamed for given such homingus role when he doesn't perform on those rare occasions. |

Jodera: I don't see how he's blaming xhaka and chambers there. Those two are poor in their present position they're playing and that's one of the reasons why I'm blaming Arteta. I mean, how will you have Cedric yet you play slow man xhaka at left back?(who can't even attack sef). What attacking advantage is Chambers giving you at that Rb role? What is the reason for playing a false 9 when none of the attackers(or midfielders ystdy) aren't great goalscorers. Like his decision in games for the past 2 months or so is really head-scratching and such decisions is really making me doubtful about his long term success here. Every coach have their methods. The choice of Xhaka and Chambers at left and right back respectively is because of their positional flexibilities. With them Arteta can easily switch to a back 3 or a back 4 without making substitutions. We must understand his thinking which is not bad. Whether is works or not is a different matter. A good thing is that with Ceballos now unavailable, and with Tierney and Aubameyang back, he will be forced to play his normal formations. |

Roland17: I agree with your first sentence but for a striker of Auba’s quality and stature, that chance was too easy to miss..
I mean, he could not even get it past the goalie... If he got it past the goalie and it went wide then I can give him a little pass. Talking about that miss, wasn’t that pass to Auba from Partey?
For a team that can’t create anything, a golden chance like that should be put away. Exactly what I was saying. Auba got a golden chance and couldn't convert. He probably needs multiple golden chances |

BlueRayDick: I used to think the problem we have at arsenal is majorly personnel/player related, however yesterday's match made it more clearer that managerial problem is also a major reason for the uninspiring season we've endured thus far.
I mean if the coach had innocently started a player like Chambers in RB based let's say the good showing he had in training, I expected him to have taken actions to have corrected such innocent mistake immediately he saw the disaster class he was serving. Chambers practically grounded our right hand, belabored Saka with so much defensive duties and rarely controlled the ball when he's passed to. I expected him to have been subbed off for Cedric latest by half time, but I was alarmed seeing him continue the match after the break.
having static and rigid players like Chambers and Xhaka playing at RB and LB respectively hampered severely on our attacking play so so much. Chambers was not interested in making those dashing runs behind an opposition player on the offensive, he will rather spam a stupid cross from a spot he's rooted as if he's been instructed not to move an inch by trigger happy Nigerian policeman . Xhaka on the other hand just keeps confirming he's a terrible player when it comes to defensive duties; his clumsiness in dishing out tackles was one of the reasons we conceded the first goal yesterday. He also almost gave out a goal while he was playing his usual across-the-field blind passes he normally does during the time of Mr Good Ebening at the emirates. I don't know maybe its cos Good ebening is sitted in the stadium and baba wan use the useless pass reminisce
Well, a more no-nonsense coach wouldve taken off Ceballos off seeing how he will losing the ball carelessly in the middle and committing fouls like its nobody's business. But then we are stuck with Arteta and we only to hope he can be more firm and take off non-performing players when need be before things go bad like it did yesterday.
As for the second league, I'm not keeping my hopes but seeing how good ebening and his boys gave us free away goal , let's just hope Arteta will get his tactics right and take a pound of flesh.
Lastly, I sincerely hope that spotify guy can convince the current owners to sell and let us have our own sugar daddy like other traditional top 6 teams. Its been long overdue ; make somebody sef use money spoil us buy all the players we dey dream of....lets be able to spend the budget of Lesotho and Trinidad & Tobago on new signing You try but leave Chambers and Xhaka out of this. They did not choose themselves to play the positions they played. As for Ceballos, he better starting looking for another club for loan because even his club won't want him back. |

Roland17: As I see the substitution board come up after half time and na Coq for Alcacer, I knew we had hope.. That meant he was going to be playing Capoue and Coq, 2 defensive midfielders against ball playing Arsenal midfielders.
The problem be say, our own coach no kukuma catch the drift..because we still did not register anything meaningful even after Capoue went down. He brought in Auba but it was too late. A single chance wasn't enough for the striker. |
