ndidibabe: What would he had done differently with the attack? People said he removed Auba when he needed a goal. Before Auba's removal, he contributed nothing than his ball that hit the post. Some said Martinelli should have started but was he fit to start?
The problem was the two light weight in your midfield + Partey the flop. Auba is average but he would have taken his chances if well fed.
In reality, Arteta is a good coach but doesn't have a good team. We had a better team than that Villarreal side. Losing to them in a semi final in our most important game of the season is inexcusable. The attacking tactics failed without a plan B. That's the coach. He couldn't find a way to deal with their deep defending. He simply pressed the panic button and threw all his strikers in, making the team lose shape in those final crucial minutes. That lack of experience. The team isnt good enough, so also the coach. He may probably stay till his contract ends around October. Now that there will be no European commitments as distraction, he should be able to manage the club to at least 3rd position by that time with a genuine push for top 4. If not, he should just leave. But I think he will not stay beyond that, unless he makes me eat my words. |

ndidibabe: A change of coach isn't what Arsenal needs. I think there is a problem at the scouting level and that is where the rebuild needs to start. You need good scouts to rebuild accordingly. Look at all the nonsense players that Arsenal has bought. Pepe, Party, Ozil ,Auba,Williams and co. Unfortunately, most of the local nairaland Arsenal fans think Auba is golden.
As it stands now, Arsenal is no longer a big club and has been relegated to a mid- table English club. No champions League and no Europa. This means you can't attract any big player. The few smart Arsenal fans will agree with me that Arsenal has no chance qualifying for the champions League for at least the next five years.
Rather than investing so much money on "big-fake" players like Partey, Pepe, Auba and Williams, Arsenal will be better scouting for upcoming and young players that won't cost more than 40m. This should at least bring them back to Europa.
If you get your signings right then Arteta will turn out well. Do you mean irrespective of who the manager is, or actually Arteta. Arteta failed to marshall an attacking plan to score against a weak Villarreal, that for me broke camel's back after all the nonsense we have endured. I agree with revamping our scouting network, but I doubt Arteta's abilities right now. I doubt he will be able to work with lowly rated players. I want him out. |

The mistake the board made (and we especially myself who supported them) was to hand the club to a rookie to navigate us through Europe and PL. That was a tall order for someone who has not managed a full league season, as its obvious Arteta didn't learn well from Pep.
Keeping this same manager for another season is sign of continued bad management by the board and owners. Worst, outcome is to wait till his contract ends by October or so to avoid paying him off.
What we need now is an old head. |

Roland17: I will use my AC Milan as a typical example. We were in the doldrums of the Serie A for nearly a decade after we lost Allergri. We have perhaps the most uncertain and worst ownership now. Milan was just hiring and experimenting by rewarding ex players with coaching roles and we suffered for it until Pioli. That is because ownership was not interested in investing in the team worth more an experienced coach. Then came Pioli...Pioli has used pretty much the same players many of our ex coaches called scarps worsestill, he is doing this with absolutely no funds to invest in the transfer window. But guess what? After he took over, we started seeing steady and consistent progression in the way we play. Significant improvements in most if not all the players many deemed horrible. Pioli totally isolated ownership from the business of improving his team. He worked extremely hard. We finished last season on a high and the decision to bring on Rangnick, a renowned football head after last season was scrapped because Pioli had proven to us we had gold in him. Throughout this season, he kept us competitive and at some point contenders even though we knew we lacked the quality to compete with Inter. But guess who defeated Juventus and is heading to the UCL? Milan.. So my brother, while ownership is an issue, good coaches absolutely find ways to make their team better. Arteta has been an embarrassment to put it kindly. How he sets up his team, manages his players, communicates, develops tactics has absolutely nothing to do with ownership.. all we are just doing is excusing mediocrity. Can you beat your chest and say Arteta will have Leicester in their current position if he was the coach? How about West Ham? But I can assure that Rodgers and Moyes will not have Arsenal languishing in 10th and losing to Villarreal. I can argue this easily based on what Blueraydick posted. |

@the bolded. You really doubt? With this inept board of ours, I think he'll still be there till probably we carry on with the bad results mid next season.
Arteta started brightly when he came newly and I somehow believed in him even tho he was a rookie. But recent management and in-game decisions have changed my mind about him. He should just getaut of my club Me that carried Arteta's matter like basket for head. I am utterly gutted by him now. Abeg we need an experienced head next season, even if it's for one season. Jodera: Chelsea's tuchel team is what Spy and Arteta wanted arsenal to be I guess . Strong defensively, yet still good in attack.
Well, Arteta proved he can't do that, cos we even have more flair, better and hardworking players than Chelsea (arguably), yet we're playing as if we're Aston villa mates.
Please Arteta should just resign biko and let better coach come He did stabilise our defense but he got his attacking tactics all wrong coupled with that sometimes the defending is so poor like in the first leg. And it has costs us. I also prefer a team like Leicester, or Man City. |

Jodera: Okayy, so I watched the match today and here are my thoughts
1... Arteta is not serious. This is supposed to be his most defining match yet, but he still told the team to put a break on the attack. Like we need a goal and an early goal for that matter, yet we are playing as if it was just a normal league match. Zero urgency, zero swift attack, zero everything.
2... In as much as we still played poorly even Though we'll be eliminated if we drew, we still missed some chances. Auba was unlucky twice with the bar. I guess it's just mother nature telling us ystdy night won't be our night.
3... One thing I noticed perhaps about our youth and feeder team is this, I think they're being taught how to create, pass and interplay, but they don't teach them how to score(mostly wingers and midfielders). Maybe it's only striker they do teach. Else, how the hell would ESR not hit the target from that range. He's not even far from the post, all he just needs to do is chip it in. Yet he chipped it out. ESR is not a good goalscorer, same things with saka, same thing with Iwobi. Perhaps if martinelli grew up in the academy maybe he'd have joined the crew. It's just so sad, esp seeing them missing easy scoring chances.
4... I know the reason why Arteta does not prefer martinelli starting. He's an urgent type of player who likes to make things happen unlike Arteta who believes in slow and steady game. Reason we haven't scored any goal with counter this season (I would like to be proved wrong tho, cos I don't remember any). Reason our attack is very very poor. Like I said ystdy he always deals on structure, and someone like martinelli might probably break that structure with his style of play.
Well, season is over for me. I no send the remaining league matches even the one against Chelsea. No more analysis and observation from me per match till perhaps end of season
Hopeful for better days, but still gunners for life You're absolutely spot on with your analysis. The first 30mins should have been a firebrigade work out. Use speed and everything to score a goal, even if we concede in the process, we would have still outscored them. But he pulled the brakes on the attack so much so that we couldn't even muster a shot on goal. Pathetic management from Arteta. I really doubt the board would want to keep him for next season. In fact we better begin a new search. |

Jodera: I didn't get to watch the match, but if all we needed was a goal against Villarreal with all those attackers, yet it's only 2 shot on target we could produce, then na big one chance with this man.
Reason I was saying this man killed our attacking setup just so we could be "sound" defensively. E no make sense na. Despite all the time he spent with Pep he couldn't learn his attacking tactics, plan or instincts. What he waste of school fees. |

You remain a collection of ageless indivisible objects and your consciousness happens by chance. I am not confused and that is independent of your thoughts. Ultimately,it doesn't matter if you agree or not. You tell yourself a lie to satisfy your discontentment about your life, and worst still, you believe the lie. But all the complex biological processes that make us, are specific and accurate. They don't happen by chance. You did not happen by chance when you sperm cell overcame all odds to meet an egg that created you. All this has a purpose. How can you make claims about my existence and say it doesn't matter if I agree or not. But when I make claims about God's existence you want your opinion to count. I don't hold any allegiances to any religion but my thinking leads me to a purposeful creator that explains the cosmos, life and existence. The universe is very complex yet so accurate and specific. marveangel: This is a list of things we learnt in secondary school that are not applicable in real life or have become totally obsolete maybe due to advance in technology or maybe they weren't as practical in real life as our teachers tried to make us believe.
1. Quadratic Formula (Almighty Formula) The very first time I heard those words "Almighty Formula" I was in primary school, my elder brothers were arguing about some maths problem and they mentioned Almighty Formula I was like wow there is a formula in maths that is Almighty I bet with this formula I can solve any math problem I ever came across. I mean it is after all "Almighty" . Spoiler! there is nothing Almighty about the quadratic formula it is actually just another method of solving quadratic equations.
2. How to use long division and long multiplication I remember my mathematics teacher shaming us and acting as though our whole brian was filled with saw dust just because one couldn't do any of this. But look at us today, we have the mobile phone and calculators I don't think I've been in any situation where I needed to use the long division I learnt or should I say forced to learn.
3. Memorizing The Periodic Table Believe it or not back in secondary school SS1 first term to be precise I actually memorized the entire elements in the periodic table, all 104 of them over the weekend by break on Monday I had become something of a legend. Accompanied by my two closest friends I went from SS1 A to D mesmerizing other students with my "knowledge". I was the centre of attraction, each student with their Ababio textbook staring at the periodic table while I recited each element accordingly. By the end of the week I was something of a legend everybody was talking about me, even the seniors. But come month end even I could barely remember the first 30 elements accordingly and the legend fizzled into thin air. Unless you ended up studying chemistry I mean advance chemistry you'll probably would find memorizing the periodic table a complete waste of time, especially those rare elements not like you can got to ShopRite and order 2 kilos of Uranium.
4. Roman Numerals Yeah yeah you could argue that you still make list using them, I understand that, but how often do you use Roman numerals, unless you are a class teacher teaching the same old things we were thought back them to some innocent students you probably never made a list longer than 10 with Roman numerals that's if you even do. Tell me I'm wrong.
5. Longitude and Latitude I Know it seems like I have something against geography but I don't, my geography teacher was a fun guy back in the days but let's be real here, how many times have you had to use your knowledge of longitude and latitude in real life scenerio( unless you are a pilot or a ship captain,in that case - ah ya captain) and this thing called Google maps actually made that knowledge obsolete.
Bonus; Morning Assembly As far as I'm concerned this is a complete waste of 1-2 hours every morning, why couldn't we just get to school and go straight to class why do we have to stand and sing, dance (principal sir I already endure 2 hours of morning devotion at home before coming to school) and then of course March to class. I never understood the essence especially the marching to class part. But if you do kindly enlighten me.
Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen top 5 things we learnt in secondary school that I believe are not applicable in real life or are now obsolete. Feel free to add yours and if there is anyone you do not agree with kindly let me know. These may not mean anything now, but they are the precursors to every knowledge you have and use now. Including knowing and appreciating how to use a calculator. |

Vulcanheph: Here's two facts about the moon that I find most intriguing.
1. The moon is positioned in such a way that an observer from Earth will see it as the same size as the sun despite the fact that the sun is 400 times bigger than the moon, the accuracy of the positioning is so accurate that it is believed to have been more than just a coincidence.
2. The size of the Earth's moon in relationship to the planet it revolves around is the biggest when compared to the moons of the planets in the solar system. (If you don't understand this, I'm sorry but I don't know any better way to explain it) The sun is over 10,000 times the size of the moon. |

When old stars go supernova, new stars are born. The residual star dust go on to form planets and moons. It takes millions of years for those stardust to form any object either another star or planet or moon. We've barely spent 100,000 years of advance human existence.
