But I will give it to 16e for some live sport features on Small Dish.

I think it will be best for the club to protect him by making sure that the he is at the top of his game when he is facing fast pace epl players that are very physical. I am confident he will be a valuable player for us next season. He will be among the 5 senior central defenders we will parade next season... Gabriel Mari Holding Chambers Saliba |

kodded: truth be told, it's very hard to defend arteta on how he treat saliba, when he keep on starting willian after every woeful performance. Saliba is not in the physical condition where he can successfully compete with our current crop of CD. He has hardly had a game with any of them plus he was late invterms of readiness for the season which made him not to be registered. The decision to send him on loan to a place he is familiar with is a good one. A league where he can gain playing time without much demand on his physical ability unlike in England. This will help him improve his game while he gradually builds his fitness in readiness for next season. |

Auba and Pepe must have informed their village people. Jokes apart, he will be a big miss as he is just back from injury layoff. Auba will continue in that RW with Lacazette playing CF. Roland17: If fans are still away from the stadium with no summer tours, the embolden is a dangerous/ risky proposition that can worsen our situation financially. However, if fans return and the team can embark on summer tours and increase revenue then 2 years is good as long as we can win trophies (EL/FA), keep the roster trim and finish as high as we can. Don't get me wrong, I understand why you said 2 years but it may be too long of a time that we can not afford. This is the reason why I have been on Arteta about making the changes we need because we have to be swift in reacting to get this ship sailing in the right direction. Two years is in terms of my personal expectations. Now I don't see much difference financially between us and any midtable team with their own stadium. The likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, City and even Liverpool with their sugar daddies will be hard to overtake within this short time. Since we want to be self sustaining, we must turn our eyes more away from external acquisition of players and look more inwards. That's the model used by the likes of Ajax, RB Leipzig etc. It works, just that it will take some time. At least they performance ofvthe current graduates prove so. |

Roland17: The issue with Saliba’s situation for most Arsenal fans is the lack of clarity in communication. Arteta failed to clarify why exactly the kid was frozen and not registered. I know the plan was to register him for EL but Mari made a quick recovery that no one expected and by that time it was late to register him for the league. Arteta’s communication is very poor of you ask me especially with regards to player management.
Saliba looked like a player that has been out of active football for a long time when he features for Nice. Remember he is being coached at Nice by P. Viera. I don’t know if the quality of the French League will help him improve. I wish he was sent to a top Championship side, La Liga or Germany. Let’s see what happens though, I will be keeping an eye on him. Funny enough, Vieira has been sacked ,as Nice coach. As it is now, our defense has been very stable and I believe the manager will not want to disrupt the rhythm. Saliba himself must have requested for the loan arrangement to keep fit and gain playing time. As you said, communication from the manager has been poor. |

Roland17: Absolutely, I will forever remain grateful to Wenger because of how he steered the club, made sacrifices and took a lot of heat for the owners in the face of a self sustaining model. Arsenal would have been underwater if Wenger was not the head coach.
Arsenal needs to get into the UCL especially if this pandemic continues to keep fans out of the stadium. We can not afford seasons without good paying competitions. Do you know how much revenue we lost from not going to Asia/ US for our tours? Also, sale of club merchandise have dropped significantly as it is closely associated to stadium visits/ tours etc. Sincerely, as most fans never realised what was going on backstage, the blame for trophylessness was hinged on him and the board absolved. He was accused of not buying whereas no money was made available. At times he had to tell diplomatic lies just to cover up. No modern coach will accept such humiliation from fans. That said, it's a good thing such info is coming out so that fans can trim their expectations. For as it is now, I do not expect any signings this January and I am putting our CL away for another min two years. That also means that proper attention should be given to our youth setup both in training and acquiring quality youngsters, that should be the model going forward. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 10:56am On Jan 08, 2021 |
Roland17: For those interested in the finances of Arsenal.
Arsenal have taken a 120 million Euro loan from Bank of England. The loan will be used to cushion the effects associated with the pandemic and revenue loss like payment of officials. The loan can not be used to purchase any player. Arsenal is obligated to complete payment of this loan by May 2021.
The desire/ urgency to clear the dead woods and thin the bloated squad now instead of the summer is necessitated by the impact of COVID-19.
https://www.arsenal.com/news/club-receive-bank-england-covid-loan This shows our finances have been very shaky even when we thought we were stable. It means Kroenke has been running the club on a self sustaining model without any cash injection. No wonder we struggle to sign profile players as money is only available to pay wages. The more reason why I value the Wenger years when he literally dragged us into CL places inspite of our financial handicap. |

afrodoc2: I don't know much about Buendia so i can't comment too much, however i watched Brandt a lot because of Sancho and i wasn't completely convinced.
He is a very intelligent and quick thinking player who likes forward passing and quick interplay and who has both decent passing and dribbling. However he is a bit lightweight in midfield and might be a bit of a defensive liability with and without the ball.
Additionally having seen how Kagawa, Mkhitaryan, and now Harvetz (who were all more highly rated) have struggled in the EPL it is understandable to be reticent. I really don't know Buendia well though so i can't compare. Dayo watches Brandt weekly so he would have a better assessment I have watched both. For me Brandt is better especially when he was at Leversuken. The advantage Buendia has over Brandt is that he scores goals and that's since this season in championship. But when you want a top AM that creates chances and has big game experience, Brandt tops Buendia. That does not mean we must sign him. I am not advocating for any, because these days the more you look the less you see. I'd rather prefer a low profile signing who will not be under pressure to perform and will welcome competition with ESR who I am more interested in his development. |

pazienza: There are not many better creative players out there in England and Europe than Buendia. This is why Arsenal wants him. You eh! How can you conclude, when you used championship stats for Buendia. Anyway, you are right. I think the major reason is because he scores goals as a midfielder. |

Jodera: The torreira from first season with us is a good destroyer and can also transition ball forward. Maybe my eyes is deceiving me then, but torreira I was watching in arsenal is good with the ball, can progress ball forward and can pass. No wonder he was one of our best player during his first season Where Emery killed everything was making torreira play an "Am" role or advanced role in the 2nd season.
Maybe you can talk of height, that's the reason Arteta doesn't rate torreira (some coaches are like that), but in terms of ball progression, passes, forward movement and defence, torreira beats elneny hands down. And if elneny can see spot in the squad, then I don't know why torreira can't In Game of Thrones, Bran asked his father why if the man that deserted because he saw white walkers was lying. "A mad man sees what he sees" Ned replied. I could say you are wrong, but "mad man sees what he sees". That season Emery preferred Torriera for the same reasons Arteta prefers Elneny. These are two different types of players with different qualities. If Arteta decides to have a sitting DM then Torriera is the player of choice. But Arteta wants someone who can receive the ball from the goalie and transition it till gets to the opposition box. In that respect, Elneny is better. We have seen this countless times, no need to argue. |
