Kolasinac's failure to transist between attacking and defending left a hole on the left side of defence/midfield whenever Saka pushes up field and Auba drifts into centre forward.
That role is the most critical if Arteta's formation of changing from 343 to 442 and vice versa must work.
That hole was exploited by West Ham several times including the goal they scored.
Whenever Football Made Simple(youtube) brings up a tactical explanation tomorrow, anyone can confirm.
I will accept criticism but it must not be from our in-house clown. |

How can anybody watch Leno and call him average? A player having a bad day doesn't automatically make him average na. It's just like calling Manuel Neuer average learning writing because he makes one or two errors in a match. Na those hide and seek fans. After hearing MuMu commentary for viewing centre they will now come here to do tactical analysis for me. The worst is that whenever those hide and seek fans come to spew their rubbish our in-house clown will rush to type 'spot on' like a kindergarten learning how to write. |

BlueRayDick: This is what I always wish other fans will see. A good defence will always bail out an average midfield. Gabriel putting his body on the line several times was all that was needed to keep the whole team going till they pushed for a winning goal.
I hope the team spirit keeps savoring high Thanks. |

Jodera: Make sense. But I believed Wenger was his own undoing. While he wanted to maintain his philosophy, he didn't go for personnel that has 100% attributes of what he wanted. His players aren't strong enough, thereby bullying is sure on the pitch. If he'd sorted that, I think all those cricket scores we won't have received them. But, then I get your point generally.
At the bolded, I tend to disagree with that, as long as money and title is still the main focus, I doubt fans will crave that good football back over the hunger for winning. I stated same about Wenger. Part of his (and indeed the philosophy of the old) was to win with inbred players. Mourinho changed the dynamics by buying a team of already developed players. It's a belief howbeit a weak one but hopefully that good football will one day thrive. |

Jodera: Ok... So I recently watched arsenal 2003/2004 matches (extended highlights of all of them), and then I realize how far football has changed(as a whole, not just arsenal).
Football, I believe was suppose to be an art and entertainment(more of good individuals), but with the way things are now, it's all about the system(less of good individuals).
The team of 2003/2004 has a lot of creative players. Aside bergkamp(which is the obvious king), Vieira, Henry, Pires, Gilberto Silva were creative and exciting to watch. Football those days were exciting, as they were less boring game and nothing like low block defending.
But now, you see a player who's really creative sitting on the bench for a player who knows how to run around on the pitch. You'll see a player who knows how to dribble(winger) sitting on the bench for one who knows how to defend(winger). The game changed from art/entertainment to system/result driven at all cost. While I'm not begrudging the change, but I feel it makes football less entertaining unlike what we have 10-15years ago. The species of rosicky and bergkamp are going into extinction for the species of xhaka and elneny.
What is your view guys... I would love to hear from some of you guys.
Spy360, Roland17, kokaneprodigy, iamoyindamola, Blueraydick , mostob, KBS, Akinbahm Yes the era of creativity has passed. But who are responsible? The fans and the board. The past managers loved the free flowing football and only wanted to win through that philosophy. It was those feelings that made us loved Arsenal as we transitioned from the effective boring boring Arsenal to the Arsenal we came to love. Then came Abrahamovic and Mourinho and the love for good football gave way for the love for titles. You begin to hear Arsenal and United fans whine about titles while Chelsea fans turn their backs on good football. Mr Wenger, et al lost their jobs because they chose to stick with their old philosophy. They lost 6-0 to a defensive characterless Chelsea. They were wrong because things have changed, fans no longer wanted good football, they only wanted to win. Yet I believe that some day the hunger for good football will rise again over the hunger for winning. And managers like Mourinho will lose relevance now that fans are restricted to attend matches even the more. |

mostob: Why Madrid jersey? Honouring the contract my foot. Ozil was our sterling signing, our talisman until things started going south. He should be captain not Auba. But instead at a time Auba is heading towards legendary status, Ozil is being thrown out like a piece of old newspaper. |

Jodera: But realistically, who's at fault between Arsenal and Ozil? Ozil says he's an arsenal player who still has a contract and he says he wants to finish it. Arsenal says they don't need ozil and that he must go...(as they no longer want his services) Ozil always reiterates that he's always available and would love to play for arsenal wen called upon. Arsenal says NO, he must go, and Ozil blatantly refused.
Without sentiments or emotions, who do you think is right? Arsenal or Ozil?
I will definitely go for Ozil. I mean, if you don't want to play a player in the league, how about europa league and cup competition? He can be used for cup depth instead of just freezing him out. I know his wage is much, but then he just have only 1 yr on his contract. If the situation is turned, (the club needing him and Ozil saying he wants to go while under contract), I'm sure most of us will call him traitor. You must look at it based on context. Ozil has had disciplinary issues with the club. Right now Arsenal is selling to raise funds for future developments. We have sold Martinez and soon Torriera, Sead, and Socrates may leave too. We are selling these because we can't assure them of first team football, and they have agreed to leave for the sake of their career and the club. Last season Ozil hardly kicked a ball due to his situation with the club, why would he choose such path again this season? If a player chooses to leave the club will only demand a fee, but why would a player refuse to move even when the club has clearly stated he is not needed around? Don't get me wrong, I have stated here that I would rather we reconcile with him and use him because I feel he is our most creative player. But if for any reason Arteta won't use him and there are other options he can take, why punish himself just to punish the club? |

kokaneprodigy: As iamoyindamola said I’ve always said Xhaka is not good enough but that doesn’t make Guen better than him, it’s logic. We had Luiz messing up and definitely not good enough for us but u won’t see Arteta start Rob Holding ahead of him. Yes Luiz ain’t good enough but with the current squad and current stage Rob is, he can’t bench Luiz. Arteta won’t play Rob continuously at the detriment of result cos Luiz ain’t good enough. It’s logic and it doesn’t mean i Stan Xhaka. I just hope u guys don’t make business decisions. Off course Guen is not better than Xhaka. In fact Xhaka had more potentials than Guen at his age. Xhaka was Swiss U17, U21, and now Nat team captain. Nor be beans. Having said that, take this... Rob can and will bench Luiz this season. |

BlueRayDick: Bale coming back to EPL makes North London derby more difficult than it should be for us. Honestly I'm worried
With Bale starting in a North London derby, he just needs to hit a powerful shot from outside the box and things may go down the rail for us. Anyways I know Arteta has shown of late that he knows how to play tough/big opponents. Hopefully he will neutralize Bale's threat like he did Salah's vs loserpool We faced a De Bruyne and Silva midfield and came out better. Football isn't really like that, it's a team sport. Sometimes big moves like this destroys teams instead of building them. You know what? That dressing room will be Kane Vs Bale Vs Son. The internal controversies it will create will spoil things for them on the pitch. Besides, Bale is very injury prone and will cost them big money. Well this can also be rant of a jealous opposition fan, it can be a huge deal for them too. Either way. |
