even tho I know top4 might be difficult for us, but mathematically from now till April, with the way teams are floundering, we can still get that 4th, if not, let's win the Europa. All those happen if you put your best leg. There's a reason we loan ceballos and if he can help us, why bench him cos "we don't wanna train him for Madrid ". Not like his replacement are better than him. It's just like saying we shouldn't play ozil cos technically, this might be his
last season
Let's use him, train him for Madrid sef if need be, but lets use him to achieve our goal. After that, we can safely tell him bye bye, win win for all.
To be sincere, it's really frustrating seeing sub par players playing over good players. No matter the reason.
This is not the situation with those who run clubs. Loaned players are most times second options especially when little is at stake. This is an observation not my opinion.

true. Ozil should go. I still dey wonder why this guy dey bring willock over ceballos. I mean I know he's a loan player, but why loan him if you can't use him especially when we need all the max points presently
With the kind of season we have now, we need to give more playing time to the players we have for sure, not training a player for another club. Why do you think Nketiah cut short his loan from Leeds? Despite being the better striker, Leeds would rather have their main man on the pitch than helping us train a striker. Unless injuries or they have gotten to a point where titles are at stake.

I am not expecting much again from this season. For me, the. Rest of our matches should be used to create team play, identity, and to separate those who should stay from those who should leave.

Every error must be corrected, and every game a training session. Next season will be inexcusable for everyone in the club.

Amadioha will judge.

Person score for two FA cup finals, u say he had only one decent season for us undecided

Where do u people come up with all theses things sef....no be the same match we all watch that time? Sanchez's time at arsenal was like of the best periods for arsenal in recent times.

He was the deciding factor in most matches we played during these periods. The season Leicester won the league, we handed them defeat home and away and guess who scored most in the two legs?.....Sanchez it was.

I get the fans are pained Sanchez left us when he did, but saying he was an activity former, wasn't spectacular and what have u.....in the face of damning evidence that suggests otherwise is just annoying.

There's a reason a part of Manchester wanted him this season and the other part of Manchester got him the next season. Sanchez did not only inspire arsenal to FA cup wins, he did same for.his country. Or.maybe he's extremely lucky to have used activity forming to avhieve all dis feat
Decent in my post was in comparison to Ozil. Yes, Sanchez was one of our valuable players when he was with us, but in comparison to Ozil, in terms of productivity and team play, I'd give it to Ozil 3-1.

Let me check stats to confirm.

Your second paragraph, we can say same for Ozil, can’t we?

Third paragraph Remember I said his last season I took nothing from him bro.

I strongly disagree with your last paragraph

But why is the press out on Ozil than Sanchez afterall Sanchez even earns more doing little to nothing right now.
Sanchez was so useless he had to be loaned to Italy while his parent club pays around half of his wage for him to stay away from them.
Even when he was with us, I rated Ozil more than him apart from one season.

I have always said that Ozil's demeanor betrays him and nullifies his efforts and work rate. Fans are usually deceived by players jumping up and down and raising the fists etc. Sanchez for one caused us a lot of points with his selfish solo runs that end up with the opposition countering us.

For me, Sanchez had only one decent season with us, I can count three for Ozil.

Nwanne, you are right, he had some pedigree but I don’t think the pedigree exposed the bulk of his tactical weakness, poor communication and an abominable lack of man management skill on the bigger stage. His time at PSG was a warning we overlooked.
I don’t know what Arteta will become long term but there is already a stark contrast between his reign and Ebening’s.
I just hope someone stops Liverpool from going unbeaten this season because as far as the league goes, they are getting it because they deserve it. Southampton’s loss means we must win tomorrow so we can continue to climb.
We are now 12th, 6 points away from the drop zone. What a season!
Arteta seems to know what he is doing. Let's hope inexperience will not get the best of him. He has time though. We will be patient with him.

As for the rest of this season, the target is for us to just find some form identity on the pitch and getting the right personel to achieve it. Peradventure we end up 4th, I will liken it to crossing the red sea miracle.

To me, our 49 games unbeaten is under serious threat and it could be surpassed should Manchester City not beat Liverpool on the 49th match day against them because they have relatively easy pairing both before and after then.
If Liverpool ends this season unbeaten, our only source of pride would be gone.

I hope they win the league with a sizeable amount of games to spare, so that complacency at least will help us make them lose. smiley

To God, If I had a rock and was standing next to Ebening, I will stone him, not kidding you!

You were the freaking head coach of the team for more than one season! I am not sure what stupid style he was talking about but where is the accountability in accepting responsibilities as the head coach of the team?

Were the fans supposed to just watch the team continue to crumble? If the fans did not revolt, Ebening would have continued to serve us that rubbish and still find ways to blame specific players! He should better stay away from the US because if I see am I go stone am!!!

The effrontery to say when we pressed we did!!! Are you kidding me! Has anyone watched us press under Arteta in only 4 months and compared it what Ebening served us for more than a year? We stumbled our way to the finals of the Europa League and got whooped by Chelsea! That is the success he is bragging about?

I am done with this man, seriously, I regret ever supporting his hiring from the start especially ahead of Arteta who is doing way better than Ebening holistically!
It's normal to support a new manager, especially when he comes with some form of pedigree.

Emery was a huge disappointment especially after spending a full season with the players and also having two full summers to strengthen and stamp his name on the game.

We are glad though, we've got Arteta now.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are just killing the league.
4-0 over Sotton.

I dey oh. Just been watching from the sidelines due to busy schedules. I have always been of the opinion that Martinelli and Saka would be on my team list allday everyday simply because of their attitude on and off the ball not taking away their skill set as well. Xhaka for me is doing what a good player needs to do given all the drama which was forced unto him when made captain. The response is simple. Put in consistent good performances and all the negativity will go. He's still prone to mistakes here and there but he is now playing well especially the second half against Leeds in the fa cup where he was pressing faster and making tackles high up the pitch to kill their rhythm.

Finally the manager has made a huge difference and we can now see their is an identity and players crucially and importantly now know their roles on the pitch which was why some of us kept asking if they were really learning anything under emery.

Xhaka and Torriera now understand that they can not press so high as to leave their defensive zones but call the mids or attackers in front of them to fall back. Xhaka funny enough is now playing a pseudo left back role and understands that when we are defending he stays in the zone with torrera to protect the back four and using our left side he understands that when we push up in attack he should be slotting into the left back role to cover that zone and should the attack break down he switches back to his main zone beside torreira while calling his left back or left side mid to fall back into position.

It's a beauty to watch even though I feel they use the left side for this transition more than the right side.. Cedric for me was a good signing as I watched him in south Hampton as well as Portugal. He keeps it simple and understands his role very well but on and off the ball.

Hopefully we get a good summer with Arteta's own signings and proper preparation season. Patience to let this process take time to complete is all we need now and even if we fumble a bit here and there for now won't be such a big deal. The most important thing is to see the team play good football consistently and so far even in games we have been a man down, they have done brilliantly still keeping a decent shape and maintain the identity and balance. Great times ahead but patience is needed
The focus for the rest of this season for me is to build some identity and style of play, which we are perfectly executing. The next is to identify players that we stay, acquire and those to leave. In these times, there are no more rooms for sentiments and gamble. Next season we MUST consider seriously a top 4 finish.

Go vote your Arsenal player of the month now
Martinelli gets my vote for
1. covering up for Aubameyang which is a huge task considering Auba's scoring prowess.
2. His solo goal against Chelsea. Big game, big goal, right time. It really lifted our spirits.

Saka comes close for his versatility and his goal Vs Bournemouth.

Next Xhaka, then Torriera. No clear reason.

You seem to be getting me wrong though. Or maybe you have not read my last post quoting you above.

Besides, it's not in the defensive driving course that I am even praising Saka for but his Link up play with Martinelli and the forward line that is and that is the area Kolasinac has failed woefully in.

Or when Last did Kolasinac scored a goal nor got an assist?

Equally, Xhaka always cover up for SAKA whenever he pushes forward isn't it?

Besides, SAKA's LFB position actually gives him More room and space to operate moving forward as if he is actually playing the LW forward position accordingly.

In addition, SAKA offers the team the opportunity of switching to 3 defensive formation while pushing forward to assume his natural forward role while starting as a LFB player

That is just my honest opinion and not about converting SAKA into a LFB player like you want to believe though
Your thoughts here embraces mine above. Kudos.

I'm not particularly saying that SAKA should be converted to a LFB position player ooo.

Not at all and very far from that but based on the constraint forcing us to use him there and creditably well too is that which I am saying.

We are only commending him for putting up a superlative performance always so far he has been playing as a LFB.

Thank goodness ARTETA is goning for Cedric who can also play at LFB position and that is to tell us that the coach is not trying to convert SAKA into a defender just like we are not advocating for that defensive conversion too
There is one thing we have not pointed out-of the use of Saka in the LB position as a tactical advantage. How?
1. With a left footed CM or preferably CB by his side, Saka can push up into an attacking position without being marked.

2. The CM (Xhaka) or CB (Mari) covers the FB position while the winger (who is inverted-Martinelli or Aubameyang) moves into the CF position.

3. That makes 4 attacking players close to the opposition box which gives a perceived numerical advantage.

This tactics was widely employed and made popular by the Guardiola version of Barcelona when Alves pushes up into the attack and Messi roams as a free agent around the opposition box.

in terms of offloading, I don't think any cb (aside maybe mavropanos) might be considered. All the cb looks like someone he likes, even mustafi
Ignoring injuries and loans, we have about 6 CBs vying for 2 first team positions- Luiz, Socrates, Chambers, Holding, Mavropanos, Mustafi. If you add Saliba, and Mari (when we choose to keep him) we have 8. That will be an overload and that's assuming we do not sign any other in the summer window. At least two will leave.

Arsenal have made a late move to sign Southampton full-back Cedric Soares.

Soares has suggested his time at Southampton is coming to an end with the 28-year-old's contract up in the summer and no new talks planned.

Arsenal are keen to strengthen their defence, having kept just four clean sheets in the Premier League this season.

Soares joined Southampton in 2015 from Sporting Lisbon and won the European Championships for Portugal in 2016, starting in the final against France.

He joined Inter Milan on loan last January with an option to buy at the end of the season which the Italian club did not take up.
Thanks for the update.
