E. Martinez appreciation post! He kept us in this game..
Highly underrated. Don't know whether he can cope with PL pressure, but he can give Leno a run.

I hope those advocating for Auba sale to accommodate Lacazette are watching.

Lacazette will not guarantee us as much goals as Auba. His partnership with pepe upfront sef na dead on arrival

Try another wire there could just be breakage on the current wire, try a short wire from the dish to the decoder and see if it still shows d lnbf
OK will do so. Thanks.

It is good that Arteta maintained the bulk of his first teamers in this game. Helps for team cohesion especially in the defence. I have always opined that a good partnership is better than two good but individual players.

Arteta showing strong attacking intents, sending as much as five players into the attack while the other five will concentrate on defending.

There are plenty of games to rotate them + we are yet to see Belle under Arteta
So true. But I expect the competition to be tough. AMN will be loving his new found love with Arteta since he knows a midfield place will be hard to come by.

I'd like to see Arteta's progress after a year before making any judgements. It's easy when the morale and vibe is still high but what happens when opponents adapt to the new ideas?

He seems to have really good ideas but ideas are nothing without execution.
The signs are there. We fans clearly see the improvements, that's even before we beat United.

There is the chance of him running out of ideas but that should be a different story.

+when u consider Man-U spent 80M on a single defender and are yet to keep an impressive clean sheet record cos of their shitty midfield.
You forget that they have a 90m worth midfielder. Thats their mumu sha. But we need a proper defender and DM and a RW.

you are wrong keepers get better as they age not defenders can he follow up the pace of the game
Defenders depend on game reading more than pace. That comes with experience which comes with age. Boateng has been playing top flight football for over 8years. That's huge experience which we can tap from and especially our young CBs. At 31 he is just at an age where he will peak. For a price as low as that, it will surely be a steal. Honestly I'd take Boateng over all the other options.

I don't understand all these old defenders we are packing. I was thinking after this season luiz and papa should fvck off now I'm hearing boateng again we should be asking juve for rugani
I am not sure but I think Boateng is 31 or so. That age is not old for a defender. In fact he should be at his peak. But then he fell down the pecking order at Bayern.

It is very important I clarify this fact before pesin go come talk say na Pep, aka apari teach am oh.

I think the idea came from watching the Arsenal v Everton game from that vantage point, remember he sat high up in the stands. He could see our shape from that position during the match and that must have given him an idea on what he needed to work on. He figured he needed someone to help him watch our shape during matches and report to him so he can make adjustments accordingly.

Who better than your assistant coach (Freddy) who participates in training and understands what Arteta is trying to achieve with the team, especially during this early period? I imagine someone else will take the responsibility as team stabilizes and Freddy will return to the dugout.
Which explains our tactical and positional discipline Vs United.

When Kola overlaps, Xhaka covers for him and AMN covers for Xhaka, creating an imaginary extra man and a lot of balance.

@thorrvik55 & kokaneprodigy are actually correct.
Arteta wants a set of eyes to watch our games from a different angle and then communicate what he sees from there.
This is where the shape and compactness of the team comes in, especially when he is implementing the press or pushing his defenders higher up the field.
Freddy reports to Arteta what he is seeing with regards to the shape of the team with and without the ball from the overhead position which is a vantage position for watching how a formation/ tactic is working.
This is why there has been so much improvement in the coordination, compactness and shape of our game.
I actually didn't realise that. Thought he was on holiday.

Nice one by Arteta, really carving a niche for himself. I believe he can be the next best thing. I hope.

Abeg what is Ljunberg's job sitting among the fans ? I saw one article like that online and I forgot to read it's explanation, Now I can't seem to remeber where I came across it.

Anybody with the full gist as to why he sits where does?
He is on holiday but will be part of Arteta's team.
The point is to reduce his influence on the players and allow Arteta gain more control. He is the assistant coach.

Sad news!

C. Chamber suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee on Thursday and will out of action for 6-9 months. I am so gutted by this news because this kid worked soooo hard to reinvent himself. These sort of injuries deter the growth and development of young player. I am wishing him well and hope he is okay, football comes 2nd in this situation for me.
He was doing so well.

May this help him to develop his mental strength.

Our boys have shown difficulty in coping with the high levels of intensity Arteta's methods demands. A clear sign of poor fitness levels from previous eras.

They dominate for 40mins like a whirlwind and cool off the shores the rest of the game. Take away coordinated defending and we could be losing games like we did against Chelsea.

There is a need to make our players able to cope with the high intensity for at least 70mins. Just as Liverpool and Man City.

me too. Auba is more clinical and since he have added work rate to his game, he's now a better option than lacazette.
The choice of centre forward between the two will not be easy depending on how the coach wants to play and what period in the game. Though overall Aubameyang is better, but if you want a CF with back to goal and high press, Lacazette gives a better option.

I will suggest Aubameyang starting on the wings (if he must start and deservingly so) and then moves to centre after 60mins when Lacazette tires off and we are on the counter.
